I was browsing through the service menu last night when I found an area that is built in that flags and stores if you have anything root related on your phone.
I have other devices that are rooted and upon switching to this phone using Google, the apps installed on those devices were also installed on this phone. Superuser is one of those apps. The phone now has a stored flag showing that superuser was installed and is indicating that I am rooted because of this. The phone is not rooted, never has been. I'm a little upset that an app that can be auto synched is flipping this flag. They should be basing this flag on actual root detection.

I saw the same thing before I rooted mine. I had tried king root and it didn't work but did throw the SU and Busybox Flags. Yet I had no root.

I'm not too worried. The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act should cover U.S. consumers from the false root flag. There are other alternatives should LG refuse service from their incorrect identification.

Just checked it again. I updated to 10j a few weeks ago. SU was removed long before the update. Either it resets with each update, or they corrected the error.

I've had it happen with a few select websites, but it became a lot more apparent when I had an app fail as well.
I've cleared/wiped everything that I could think of, turned off preloading, etc

A lot of the ROM's advertise "no ads" in their descriptions.
I looked at the hosts file on my phone that came with FreeGS, and indeed, games.espn.go.com is blocked.
Take a look at yours... Its in the system/etc folder. If its blocked in yours, use a simple text editor to remove that line from the hosts file and then reboot.
You will need to be rooted in order to make changes to the hosts file, I believe, but if you re on a ROM, you are already rooted.
Hello all I am not sure if this it's the right place to post this, but I was wondering if anyone knew or knows of any way to disable permissions for an app. My reason being there's a rise in apps with permissions they have no business having. Facebook messenger for one, scanner radio and many more. I fear that trying to disable certain permissions without properly breaking an app down might break it,like not let u run it. I know this is a stupid subject but if anyone can shed some light on this situation it'd be much appreciated thank you

I can't see a photo if you appended one.
After looking into this after debloating and now that I have an unlocked bootloader (so happy now), it seems to be a test to enable WiFi calling with verizon and/or samsung. It should be harmless. I froze it in Titanium Backup since they have announced WiFi calling coming to verizon.....soon.

I accidently bought a s7 edge verizon and now I can't work anymore. Its draining my battery so fast that it get to hot to finish. I have tried to unlock the bootloader so I can root it, (both with wondershare dr. Fone and with odin) but it seems impossible.
How can I make my phone my own phone?

Follow this post carefully step by step, do not skip anything and you should have a fully rooted S7edge.
Keep in mind that there's no bootloader unlock available for US Samsungs, therefore no TWRP custom recovery, otherwise it works just fine.

I am running 5.1 rooted on an H810 if that makes any difference.
About a week or two ago my VPN stopped working and now no VPN works at all. I have been using Private Internet Access successfully for almost a year and other VPNs have worked as well.
I get no error message from the PIA app, it just doesn't connect. I downloaded CloudVPN and it just pops up with "VPN Permission: Cloud VPN needs your permission to continue. Your privacy is important to us and we do NOT monitor or track any of your data.", and gives me three buttons, No Thanks (goes back), Help, and Try Again (pops up the message again).
I'm kind of at a loss. I've dealt with tech support from PIA and have not gotten anywhere.
Could my issue be due to credentials? I cannot clear them, as the option is greyed out.
Sorry if I'm confounding the issue. I'm getting pretty frustrated and my Google-fu is obviously not as good as I had thought it was.
have you checked the adb logs for any errors?
I've never done that before. I just downloaded the catlog app and got a log. What exactly am I looking for?

I use Textra as well, I have the AT&T version and have not had any problems. I would suggest emailing the dev, they may have an easy answer for you.
With the app installed, go to setting >apps and then find tetra and then check the permissions section. Make sure the required permission is enabled there.

All permissions are good.
Running Textra on my Sprint Note 7 and have not seen that pop up. Do you have any security/virus protection apps installed?
No problems at all on my T-Mobile Note 7 w/Textra.
I've sent pix/GIFs/etc...... without any issues whatsoever.
Could possibly be an ad blocker acting up or,if you've disabled something using one of the disabler apps available..................
It was the overlay was turned off.
