Hello all. I have been reading the forums about the LG G4 and want one of these phones with an unlocked bootloader so I can install custom roms. It seems very difficult and confusing to find one with the right options to unlock. Anyone care to clarify what I need? As far as I can tell, I should be looking for a "factory unlocked H815" which should allow me to access the fastboot option to unlock the bootloader? If thats right, then any factory unlocked H815 from eBay should do it? Also, the H815 is the model that can take up to 2tb of SD card right? Thanks in advance.

If your bootloader unlock allowed status is no then you will most likely never be able to unlock that phones bootloader. I think your best bet is to contact O2 and tell them you want a phone on which the bootloader is unlockable, perhaps they can give you a special key to unlock the functionality, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
Oh and don't try CM on it, it'll just bootloop and you'll have to use SUS or PC Companion to restore a working OS.
...actually there is one hope, but it requires dismantling the phone. There is a test-point behind the battery which might enable you to put the device into a mode where it'll accept a command allowing bootloader unlock. But again, high risk, not sure if it's actually possible, easier to just sell the phone and buy an unlockable one if you want to run CM. Maybe you could even return the device, how long have you had it?
my z1c just turned up and ive got an bootloader unlock allowed :victory::victory::victory:
I have locked bootloader on EE in UK and have found that many of the tweaks I wanted can be achieved with Xposed modules. Give it a try but backup before you start.
Need a opinion by a dev
Hello there,
I was thinking about a test.
My problem is "Unlock bootloader allowed : no".
What could happen if i restore an other TA partition with "Unlock bootloader allowed : yes". I erase the old by a new one which unlockable. All i need is a TA partition build with a z1c which unlockable and the unlock code.
What do you think ?
Soory for my bad english
If you replace your ta partition it will most likely hardbrick your device.
What is a ta partition, i don't understand.
A bootloader is like a bios on motherboard.
But it is locked by a code.
The bootloader is the same on each z1c no ?

Flashing another phone's TA will hard brick yours, every TA is related to the phone which comes from

Hey everyone, this is my first LG device, and definitely not my last. I love this phone but I think its time to root now.
I understand LG have an official bootloader unlock for the H815 model, but mine is also carrier branded to O2, I read somewhere that its only the factory unlocked models that support this method?
Cheers

You can always just go to the LG site and try to get the files you need and see. If you attempt to put in info for a G4 that their bootload unlock does not support it will just give you a popup error and will not allow you to download anything.
All,
I'm having issues unlocking my H815 LG G4. I enter the proper IMEI and device information into the location on LG's developer website to unlock it but then I get an error which I have attached.
This has been discussed many times before.
You need a region specific H815 in order to unlock your bootloader. A specific EU variant is the only one that LG supports unlocking right now. My Taiwanese specific G4 is not supported. If you'd like, you can msg LG and pile on the requests to unlock all H815 variants, but I believe they said they wouldn't.
Good luck!

Any Ideas on how to root without bootloader unlocked?
Im having the same issue the only difference is that my LG G4 h815 is the EU open market variant which is the one that can only unlock bootloader im getting the message saying everything is correct but cannot unlock bootloader, i contacted lg support dev, the answer from them is that i cannot unlock my G4, this is bull**** i pay i want full control of my phone. hope someone can come up with a way to root this device without unlocking the bootloader just like with the G3 model.
Returned mine and bought another straight from a site in the UK. Went without a hitch.
Hello there, i got an LG G4 h815 few days ago, when ever i get new device first thing i do is root it, and it was always very easy for me.
with this g4 i got problems, try to go to LG website and unlock bootloader, it say i cant cause my device is h815 taiwan, so i read more in google and understand official unlock is only for the euro devices.
so i google more try to understand how can i unlock it unofficially, and found nothing, as well as try to google for a way to root it with out unlock bootloader, and also coulnt find.
im sure im missing something, cause i dont think its possible that there is no root for an old device, any help on how to root my phone?
thanks a head.
Lots of people here have H815 TWN...please can some one make a specific thread for rooting or installing xposed on Taiwanese H815 without the risking of bricking or bootlooping the device...meaning successful rooting ...

unfortunatelly you cant unlocked till today.. maybe later if someone can do it... but you can add root to locked bootloader... i have not tried this method.. i tried similar to h811 tmobile.. but its the same procedure.. mine is unlockacle but i dont want to with the bootloop issue... unlocking bootloader voids warranty. and root too but you can always try the kdz that disables the big cores and undo the root..

thank you, i found the root for locked bootloader, i done it, but its only for 5.1 android, and i still cant flash roms, only one rom witch they make for locked bootloader, so after all the process went back to unroot 6.0 androis >:
hope some1 will break this bootlock .
Simple question but can't really find the answer online.
Bought an H815, no carrier label etc. My ATT sim works in it.
I want to unlock the bootloader (OEM process) root, add TWRP and flash custom ROMS. Will this affect the factory unlocked carrier status?
How is it carrier unlocked btw , at the hardware level or bios type process? I see the H815 comes factory carrier unlocked?
tia
Assuming your phone was purchased sim free, then no, bootloader unlock shouldn't affect it. You can always make a backup with SALT first (bootloader can be locked when you take the backup) so if for whatever reason it does get removed then you can restore it.
Btw, LG's don't support fastboot oem unlock. You need to do it via Official LG bootloader unlock website or UsU (look here in the threads) if your device isn't supported officially - if it is an EU H815 it official should work though.
fr eBay sim free. I'll look into the SALT backup.
I did a bit of work already and signed up as an LG dev and do see the LG website process which I was going to do to start.
So then adding TWRP and a custom rom will not affected the carrier unlock as well?
thanks
