On my oneplus one I had Nova launcher installed. When I pressed the left button I used to have a menu with 4 options ( wallpapers, manage apps, nova options, and options phone). Can I get this on the oneplus 3 ?
I also want to know if this is possible?

Buttons remapper
h t t p s://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.irishin.buttonsremapper
The above app has this option but needs root. I want to if we can do it without root
This app already tried...not succeeded to get a menu function on one of buttons...
Somebody tried xposed module additions, it seems to work with this,to change the recent hardware button to menu...
Someone tried this ?
No solution ?
I would like to have button for menu.

in last update is possibility that you can set default behavior (tap for recents), long press for menu and tap for recents, or long press for recents and tap for menu to "recent apps" button. i set it in menu but menu not working. any help? also quick settings in notifications is missing.
i´m using stock rom without any root or someting special. thank you

How did you fix this? I am having he same issue.
I do nothing, just read and try. It's not about menu in startup screen. It's about menu in apps.

I dont know why but if i long press home button google now shows up instead of showing recent apps. Did this happen to anyome? Anyone know how to fix it?
I just fixed it via Wanam Xposed. But it shouldnt be this way. Anyway to fix this without wanam xposed?
Bump... I dont want to use xposed to fix this problem.
I think the double click of home was recents now and long press was Google now. Much like the iPad. Double was recents and long hold was siri.

Either one brought up recent apps. Had to use xposed
Hi.
I'm new here, came from Galaxy s2 that served me well for a long time.
Today I received my new htc one m8, i have root it and installed xposed framework.
As i came from 3 button layout(home, menu and back) and htc has home, back and recents (which show on long press one the home button of the S2. i really miss the menu button. I know whenever there is a need for menu , the 3 dots appear. But i relay on it for specific shortcut and it will not appear on all my apps.
I think in Lg G2 there is a built in option to change the soft buttons layout.
I didn't found a specific way to change the layout or a way to add the menu to appear all the time
Does anyone has an idea if its possible?
If not built in, maybe an xposed module that will do it or simulate the recent button to act as menu button on long press?
I have sense 6 toolbox module, but it has only back and home key modification onlong press.
Thanks.

I am wondering if there is a way to customize the Menu, Home, Back buttons. Since I am so use to how S4 buttons were. My S5 custom rom have this as built-in feature. However, the custom rom I am using on my Tab S 8.4 doesn't. Any idea?

I Googled about this a while ago and found an XDA post describing that you can make some changes to the HW button functionality. It required root and manually edits to a build.prop or similar system file. Unfortunately I no longer have the link to that post but you can do the same searches that I did. I was hoping to modify what they initiated and to add long press functionality. What I found only did some of what I wanted.

I was able to change the left soft key to menu button by editing two files located at /system/usr/keylayout/:
1) Generic.kl
under # samsung
key 254 RECENT APP
Change it to
key 254 MENU
2) gpio-keys.kl
Add this line to it: key 254 MENU
Save both file when you close it. Reboot into custom recovery, wipe cache and dev cache. As for the long press Home key to bring out Recent App, I can't seem to find a solution. I was able use a work around way. I use Nova Launcher, which allows me to assign "Recnt App" as double press on Home key. Hopfully someone will be able to assign long press Home key for it. I guess I will have to use my work around way for now.
I'm using fosso transparent case and I'm afraid that the hardware keys might give up on me hence I never use them.i use the capacitive keys to lock and fingerprint to unlock but I need some App or a Nova launcher activity so that when clicked the volume menu pops up and I can control any volume I need without using the volume rockers..

If your rooted then you can use gmd gesture control to bring the volume panel with a gesture.
Or You can get a volume tile in the notification panel with Xposed and gravity box.
I don't know any non root app.
Look for "All in one gestures" app in Play Store.
Don't be fooled by the name: it does what you ask and some other interesting things; no root needed.
