Can So-02f use 5.1.1 stock ROM? - Xperia Z1 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, Guys, someone gave me a so-02f, it used andriod 4.1.2 and everything worked fine.
Tired to flash Z1 compact 5.1.1 ftf (Sony only has 4.4 for so-02f), and it hard bricked with only red light blinking when USB plugged in. Thank god I found the post in the forum and rescued it successfully.
Flashed it again (just in case something went wrong the first time) and it hard bricked all the same. I searched the internet and some say Z1 compact stock 5.X ROMs are not compatible with so-02f.
So are there any ways around so that I can use stock 5.X ROMs on my so-02f? Maybe flash the so-02f roms and then flash 5.1.1 rom but excluding some modules?
So can anyone help me? Thanks in advance.

Not sure what the problem is, my SO-02F is currently running a stock 5.1.1 (.236) ROM and I've flashed different stock-based ROMs with no issue.
I flash ROMs with Flashtool 0.9.18.6 in Flashmode and I usually uncheck "TA" before flashing, though I don't know if it makes any difference.

OK, thanks for the answer, just tried uncheck of TA, didn't work. Luckily My SO-02F can be unlocked, I am now using the flashable stock 5.1.1, and it works OK, only the battery life is not as good as before, but acceptable.

problem upgrade firmware xperia arc

hi,
I got myself a sony ericsson xperia arc s
bought it in a store, doesnt belong to any carrier (I live in israel)
I tried upgrading to LT18i_4.1.A.0.562_NCB build,
but during the flashing process it gave me an error...
ERR_SEVERITY="MAJOR";ERR_CLASS="MEMORY_CLASS";ERR_STATIC="HASH_VER";ERR_DYNAMIC="Final data verification failed
the installation didnt go through and when i tried turning on the phone it showed the "SONY" logo, and then a symbol of a triange and "!" and a symbol of a phone - then shuts down.
I tried to flash it again but nothing helped,
eventualy I downloaded LT18a arc s_2.3.4, 4.0.2.A.0.42_Generic USA Build
and flashed it, everything works "like a charm"
but I want to put ICS on it.... any suggestions? anything I could have done wrong?
B.T.W
in the "about phone" my model number is lt18a, and on the back of the phone its written lt18i
so which one is it?
the in advance, I realy hope its the right forum....
seems like u have older version of flashtools...to flash ICS, use the latest flashtools. older version cant flash ICS..and make sure data verification is unchecked..
and it really doesn't matter if it says lt18a or 18i...maybe u flashed lt18a firmware...u need to flash lt18i firmware...
it was clearly mentioned when .562 came out officially, that final verification should be unchecked....while flashing thru flashtool (a version below v.8)
so anyone else?
the two of you gave me 2 different answers,
I didnt use an older version of Flashtool, im using the latest 0.9
any other suggestions? I just dont want to mess up the phone...
why dont you try the latest 4.0.4 firmware?
do you think it will work? im afraid it would give me that weird screen again and I wont be able to turn on the phone again,
if im currently on a 2.3.4 usa generic, can flash the latest cm7? or jjhybrid aswell? or do i need to be on 4.0.4 build before i do it?
ok, so I downloaded LT18i_4.1.B.0.431_(1254-2184)
if i understand correctly its the latest 4.0.4 for xperia divices
my device SI is (1254-1958)
Im currently using (2.3.4, 4.0.2.A.0.42_Generic USA)
My device is rooted thx to DooMLoRD's rooting tool, and of cource its bootloader is unlocked.
so in anyones opinion, can I just flash the generic rom thats listed above?
pls answer,
thnks
yea man..u can flash any .431 firmware...use the latest firmware with data verification unchecked
Ok, good news!
Managed to flash the latest FW! Am currently on 4.0.4
Everything is smooth! Battery life seems to be a bit better but only time will tell...
Anyway thx for every reply!

[Q] How to upgrade from GB back to ICS? (Emma flashtool)

Hey guys, I searched all over the net and xda forums and found lots of similar threads but I still don't know what exactly to do.
So I have Arc S (LT18i) and my phone upgraded by itself from Gingerbread to ICS stock 4.0.4 some time ago.
Today when using Emma I accidentally downgraded to stock GB 2.3.4 and now I don't know how to upgrade back to stock ICS I had before. I tried with Sony Companion because it detected new software (4.1.B.0.587) but it said it couldn't.
I actually wanted to install custom rom CyanogenMod 10.2. but I bumped into lots of things..and I ended up with downgraded version on my phone. I rooted it again and now don't know what to do.
Bootloader: unlocked
Rooted phone
Build number: 4.0.2.A.0.62
Kernel: 2.6.32.9-perf [email protected] #1
How can I upgrade back to stock ICS or if there is a way I can simply install custom rom (tho I'm a big noob and a bit scared of it)?
Please help if anyone has any links or anything that could help, thanks in advance.
Flash stock ics ftf using flashtool
...
Sent from my Xperia Neo V using Tapatalk 2
Okay so I'm singing right now like a little kid! I found out I couldn't update through Sony Companion because I had unlocked bootloader so I locked it back (flashtool) and upgraded with Companion and right now Im running on 4.0.4 ICS!
Yesterday I tried flashing stock ics but there was an error and couldn't flash it properly so I was really worried.
Thanks anyway for the answer!
if you say us the error maybe we can help you
and why you want to flash stock ics when you are running it?
You can look at *#*#SEVICE#*#* in dialer then you go to service and configuration. there is standing bootloader unlock allowed: yes i think because you are unlocked it some day ago..
i rate you down for unlocking your bootloader because you cannot run OTA and you loose your warranty.
and you can boot into fastboot so you are able to flash kernels, what means you can run all roms except some roms like cm or miui !
so flash a kernel and run a rom what you want.
If you tell us the problem, i think we can solve it
Yours,
Slimey!

[Q] BL locked on Xperia ZL. 4.4.4 - 0.292 - What are my options?

Hello,
I have a Xperia ZL C6506 with a locked bootloader. I would like to unlock it, or at least root the phone.
Bootloader unlock allowed: No
Android 4.4.4
Kernel version: 3.4.0-perfg1bb39c2
Build Number: 10.5.1A.0.292
Country: Canada
Flashtool will not root the phone, even trying Towelroot V3.
Seems like every answer I find on XDA says something about my phone is always stopping me. Either 4.4.4 is a problem, or BL locked, or 0.292, I can't root... What am I missing?
Do I have to flash a new kernel or rom? Is it even safe to flash anything, even if it is stock, on a phone with a locked bootloader? I do not want to brick.
Thanks in advance for your help!
I found this forum: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-zl/help/rooting-xperia-zl-t2994781
But,
I read this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z1/development/newroot-z1-t2807092 it says: "Newroot work with all kitkat firmwares but doesn't work with latest kitkat *after 108) .133, .157... firmware or with old JB firmwares!!!"
This is the only thing that I have found that I have not tried, but I am hesitant to try and flash an old kernel on a phone with a locked bootloader. Is it safe to flash anything on a locked bootloader?

Yes, it is safe, as long as you know what you are doing. Put it this way: flashing the downgraded kernel will not screw you up, but doing things the wrong way might.
1. Download this. It's NOT a flashable zip! Just unzip it, and use FTF files to flash the appropriate kernels.
2. Read my post that you linked. It gives you all the steps of the process. Installing recovery is optional, but highly recommended (very useful). Use the kernels you downloaded from my link above.
That's it! A couple of notes...
- I am assuming you know how to use the FlashTool. Not the original one from Sony, but the the one by Androxide. Make sure you are familiar with it before flashing!
- Newroot DOES work with .230 kernel. I have done it many times while playing with different ROM versions, works perfectly. Make sure you enable USB debugging, and watch your phone for prompts to grant access. Your phone should reboot after successful rooting. If for some reason it doesn't work, just try again.
- When you flash .230 kernel, you may have some weird issues with your phone. You will lose WiFi. Your phone may start vibrating for no reason (mine did). Maybe something else, I dunno... Don't worry, it's only temporary. Everything will get back to normal once you flash .292 kernel after rooting. Again, tried and proven fully working many times.
- If you decide to upgrade to LP afterwards, this will also be your procedure to recover, if you screw something up in the process (been there, done that). Just flash your .292 stock ROM, then repeat the rooting process, then start with LP over again.
Happy rooting!
Thanks so much. It is crystal clear now. Always good to get some advice from someone who has done it before on the same phone.
Trying to flash and I got this error (attached pic)
I am running the newest flashtool. I didn't have any problem with the older flashtool in the past when I used to flash my older phones. Also, the older one installed completely in one folder, this one installs in 2 folders, one in C: and the other in C:/users/Me for some reason.
I installed the V1.5 driver package. Not sure what else is wrong. I unzipped the zip file, put the kernel.only.ftf into the firmwares folder, I clicked flash, selected the .ftf file and connected the phone in flashmode. No dice.
Ok, tried it again, this time it didn't get a red error, I got a different one, and my build number is still 10.5.1.A.0292...
Installed recoveries.
Pic is attached.
Okay!
So, after the first flash, the build number didn't change, but the kernel was applied. I just tried using newroot and it worked, superuser is there. Just like you said, the wifi stopped working with the new kernel. I flashed the 0.292 kernel and the wifi came back, and the phone is still rooted.
Thanks for you help kt-Froggy!

Downgrade from 6.0 to 5.1 xperia m5

Hi!
I know that there is a lot of posts here about downgrading, but this situation is different. I've always been using Flashtool to reset my system. After some time (I think when Sony updated M5s to 6.0) I cannot flash. Especially downgrading. Now it needs a sfc file and when I click YES, it's working, but my phone, after that, not. It's bricked. I had to send it to service twice. They fixed it but I don't want to do it again if I am not sure everything will be ok.
Guys, could you tell me what I should do first? I really want to back to 5.1 to get root (or do it if it's now available)
Thanks in advance!
Are you using the latest version of flashtool
Yes
And that version being what?
Xperia M5 Downgrade system to fix issues
DId anyone succesfuly downgrade Xperia M5 ? If so, did this fix the mike and other problems?
Myself tried using Nordic General and CE1 files for Lolipop 5.1 and bricked phone twice - I had to flash phone back with 6.0 to make it usable (but without fixing issues)

Reverting from custom ROM to stock causes bootloops

Hi guys,
I have a problem I need some advice for. A year ago, I purchased my Amami for the purpose of GPS-navigation on my bicycle. It always worked fine and I was able to charge it with my dynohub without any issues. The charging is giving me a headache now though, and all troubleshooting points at the phone being the problem.
Now, a couple months ago I decided to ditch 4.4 and go for a custom ROM (I've tried Oreo and Pie) which worked fine, but the phone doesn't charge as well as it used to on my bike. I'd like to go back to stock to see if that's what is causing the issue and used the Xperia Flashtool to revert to a stock image, but the ones that used to work on the phone now give me bootloops after I've flashed TWRP and ResurrectionRemix and Lineage OS.
Is there anything I need to know before I flash a stock firmware with the tool? Any input would be appreciated.
Sounds like to have not updated to Lolipop and therefore you do not have real recovery. Is your bootloader unlocked? Then you can try EMMA to update to Lollipop.

My bootloader is unlocked, I have TWRP installed and am currently running Lineage OS (Android 8). It doesn't matter if I flash Sony's original Kitkat or Lollipop; both will have bootloops. No offense, but I'm not sure you understood my original post: I'd like to go back to an old stock ROM, because 4.4 is the one that I'm sure have me no trouble with charging on my bike.
Proper BL relock:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z/general/tutorial-relock-xperia-z-bootloader-t2191907https://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z/general/tutorial-relock-xperia-z-bootloader-t2191907
If you use twrp in fotakernel partition maybe necassary to write back original fotakernel.sin (inside stock.ftf) before relock with flashtool. Remember! After relock with flastool the new BL unlock key here: DEVICESERIAL \ unlock.txt
