Hard Bricked One Plus 3 - OnePlus 3 Questions & Answers

Hello,
I just hard bricked my new OP3. The phone was rooted, with TWRP and tried go back to the stock and I restore stock recovery, disable SU. It was ok. Then I re-lock bootloader, but the phone don't boot no more. The OEM option in programmers setting was turned off, and now I can't unlock my bootloader again. I can boot stock recovery and bootloader, but I can't boot the phone. When I try boot, the phone is blinking One+ logo and vibrating and nothing happens. Please help!!

You are not hard bricked.

Download http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3/how-to/stock-firmare-oxygenos-3-1-3-oneplus-t3400384 from here & flash through TWRP!

I told i have only stock recovery, so I can't. I even can't copy anything on the phone memory. In One Plus 2 the same thing was called hard brick. There Lord Boeffla created tool to recover OP2, but in OP3, there is no tool like that.

Hi. Glad you were able to fix the problem. I am having the same problem as well. Is it possible for you to share how you fixed it? I need to be able to side load stock rom through ADB as well because recovery mode won't boot and cannot get into OS. Thanks so much.

You can't kill him that easy boy

I have the same problem as well. I already had support try and fix it but that didn't work.
I also only have fastboot available.
Any help would be welcome

In my case stock recovery was availeble.

Hey guys, looks likes I have a similar problem, but the difference is that i can not even boot in recovery ... juste can run fastboot, and all the command i've tried don't work (adb sideload rom.zip ect ... maybe i'm doint it wrong?)
and, when i'm using a toolkit to solve that ****, it show me that the flash of the new recovery is ok, and then i type "reboot in recovery" and nothin ... and when i try a manual reboot, One+ logo shows up for a few sec, and black screen.
last precision if it can helps, when i try to "sideload" in a cmd (through "adb sideload XXX.zip" , it tells me that no devices found, but my phone is in fastboot mode ...
Thanks for your help, sorry for my english !

Hi, question to OP:
so with this patch, we can use LP bootloader? or still must use KK or JB?
i see in script that kernel is unpacked, then packed back.... question is why?
did you know that BIN and IMG is the same thing?
just rename *.bin to *.img
it's will be written the same to raw partition.
any way. well done. will be needed soon for my builds.

sorry for the noob question....
if we bump the lollipop kernel, can we use earlier custom roms directly in LP bootloader?
or it is needed to downgrade the bootloader?

Yeah. That's really lame, such a bummer.... I took a look at the code myself, and it seems to want to support lolli but doesn't work with lollipop bootloaders/recoveries/kernels. At least on my D800.

No need to be modified it also works for recovery images. Ofcourse for JB/KK BL
@berryman13 It won't be taken down, especially after all those discussions it probably won't make any difference if it would be taken down as it's already wide on the web.

I have something even better! You know how CyboGenik or something posted this originally on xda and there was a huge explosion? Everybody was so pissed. Then he removed a few keys from it and republished the entire branch,
I got a fork of it early though
like immediately; before it was rebased. Compare the code, there's additional keys. PMing you.

Interesting. Do these additional keys help bump on LP? On our LG G Pad 8" v480 and v400 we are completely locked down on LP. We can even unlock our tablets which does nothing while on LP. I've bumped twrp.img and it still give security boot error. Maybe your additional keys can help!

[Q]Testing . . . . . , Nokia N1 Wire Brush

Today, I use the Nexus's wire brush reboot into Nokia N1's Bootloader successfully .
So, I think the Nexus's rom could be worked on Nokia N1.
I had checked the Nokia N1 's kernel version , it seems like the Asus Pad rom.
I hope someone could give me a hand to finish it together .
Thank you !

I've rooted my N1 and installed GAPPS by following This Post. Really Thanks to the author to complete N1.
You need to download the IntelAndroid-FBRL 05-16-2015 Public Trail Release, and choose the "T4" trigger
So, by applying tethered CWM, flush the rom into N1 can be no difficulty, I think.
Have a nice day :good:

I think way early on it was established we can't have it unencrypted once the OS install it's completed, unless something changed or I got it wrong. Lol

You can uncrypt your phone but if you.flash a stock rom, the kernel at first boot will automatically encrypt your memory again. There are 2 different encryption, one by code and one with standard image key. At this moment the twrp will automatically uncrypt the system key but you need to manually write the code (if is setted). The tool will uncrypt both method, the flash of stock rom will re-uncrypt with system key but not with code key

Just got my Pixel 2XL the other day and am excited to root and start modding. I have been monitoring this thread just to see what issues people are running into but it looks like not many people are even doing this surprisingly. I mean that's why I bought this Google phone, so I don't have to deal with locked bootloaders that these carriers put in them to discourage rooting. I know this phone is also locked but it's not for the purpose of keeping people from rooting them. I just think that it's so odd that this thread has very little activity.

The device is very expensive, has dual partitions, has gotten a lot of bad press, and not near as Dev friendly as some others. Having said that, there are about 5 custom roms, root, exposed, substratum, and various launcher and active edge mods. So it's not like we're hurting too bad ??

What kind issues are we talking about while flashing it via TWRP/Orange Fox/Redwolf?
China Alpha encrypted my internal and wiped all of my personal data which sucks, is beta also encrypting the internal?

Yeah . U can join the telegram group and see what ol is it boht !
I've read people suggesting flashing if via the Updater app. Does it work?
And don't have the telegram group but have they talked about any issues at all with the beta 8.1? I read one in the MIUI forums say that Auto Brightness causes screen burn ins but no clarification has been done yet.

okay i flashed it through TWRP without flashing lazyflasher and it boots! takes a long time to boot but wait it out, adaptive brightness definitely works also so we're safe on that front

Thanks man. I'm skeptical about flashing through the updater app since I have the China Alpha and this is Global beta. Might as well go the TWRP route to be sure.

yeah i formatted data just like last time, and its running wonderful right now, still setting up stuff, but it restored my apps (even signed into some apps by default already, prolly cause its android 8.1) its lovely.

okay strangely enough the android debugging logo still is a jellybean... but android version says android 8.1, so they might have to update that still, dont worry about that

Glad to hear you successfully flashed it.
Please elaborate about formatting your data, do you mean simple wipe of data or format of data (full internal storage)?
P. S What recovery are you using?
Antutu score.

Question Is anyone working on building a custom recovery and rom

Now that the entire kernel source is released, is anyone working on building a custom recovery and rom for this device? I was looking at building orange fox recovery for it but I couldn't find how to make it with android 13 decryption support.

You build, I'll try.. I'm decrypted with r/w permissions already. Used dfe neo and RO2RW by leegar, termux method and flashed super.img with fastboot.. Seeing as how we don't have recovery yet

Ohh ok. This phone is a little different from my last one op9p..recovery was inside ramdisk..so usually I would boot twrp.img and flash recovery to ramdisk..
I tried fastboot boot twrp.img..it switched to slot b..so I had to set active back to slot a..my mistake
I'll try your method and report back. Thanks!

Hello. Installed your TWRP, but the internal memory is not displayed and there is no active OTG. Did you do something wrong ?

This isn't my twrp.. I'm already decrypted, so I just test it. I could read internal storage on mine. Your probably still encrypted, so it wouldn't work for you.

Extract the file to a directory then put your phone in bootloader, connect your phone then go to the directory you extract and click on 8pro****.bat (*** for some chinese character). Your phone will then boot after it is done. However this is not a free rom you can run it for 30 minutes and you will have hard time to get back to stock rom since this rom modify the stock rom partitions.

I going to buy it from the maker he going do some changing to English with full support
Have someone tried that miui 14 rom? Are there any screenshots or something about what happens after 30 minutes? Might be possible to just remove that restrictions, but unless there's an easy way to revert back to stock (EDL or something), don't think it makes sense to flash it. Better wait for someone to build a proper CAF/CLO ROM (i.e. Paranoid Android)

It's MIUI, there's nothing that could fix that
That's not the point tho. Gonna assume no one yet tried flashing it (so the potential drawbacks not including 30 minutes lifetime are unknown. Should be always possible to remove that from ROM anyway). And we still don't have any way to unbrick, ZTE doesn't want to give us the flash tool for bs reasons.
