I have a t-mobile note 2 that will show bars of signal without a sim card, but once I put the sim card in, I get the no service icon and the phone says it is searching. It has been unlocked and this is with an AT&T sim card.
I recently needed to change the headphone jack, I replaced the part, powered the phone up and it no longer had a signal with the simcard in. The time and date had also been reset when the phone booted up. The phone does have an IMEI stored, I don't believe the EFS is damaged.
I'm not sure what could have happened, it is a straightforward swap to change the headphone connector.
Does this still happen if you install the original headphone jack?

My Samsung Galaxy S II (SGH-T989) phone will not detect my sim card. This started happening after I opened up the phone and nearly broke it trying to remove the "motherboard"? I know I caused it, but the problem is I don't know what it is I have to replace in order to fix it.
Below are some photos that could possibly help. The first photo, the part highlighted by the yellow circle, that part was bent off when i tried removing the board. Don't know if that would affect the sim card or not
The next photo, this cable I'm not absolutely sure what its purpose is for. This is not the original cable, the original cable was broken off somehow so i bought a different cable off ebay. Not sure how this affects the phone.
It could be the sim card and memory card part entirely except its hooked in fine and I have no other reason for it to stop working.
I don't mind buying parts except there's not much for sale. The only parts for sale ANYWHERE is the sim card and memory part and the usb port.
So my question I guess would be what exactly could be causing this sim card issue considering the actions I've taken with opening my phone?
If you're not familiar with what error I speak of, it's when instead of the bars you see a BLOCKED icon.
Any help would be great, thank you.
Hello, I accidentally damaged my sim tray and now only one of five sim cards works. I put crappy nano sim adapter in tray and when I pull it out, adapter rip off one golden pin. There were three and now is only one.
Is it something which is repairable?
Whoaes! That aints no goods..
DO you still have the pin? You night be able to work it back into the hole and have it connect well enough to be used again.
Otherwise, you can look online for Gnex parts and attempt to replace the component that holds the sim card. But if you are really stuck, you might be advised to either take it to a professional for repair, or replace the phone entirely with a new model. Either a different, phone, or another Gnex, which you should be able to find used all over the place.\
I really don´t need that phone, I have new one few months, but I want to sell it. Maybe I would find someone who will buy damaged phone but hoped that it is not as bad.
It ´s sad, beside this the phone is in excelent condition
One thing, some sim card work like normal and other sim card from differetn operator is not recognized.
I'm having some hardware problem with my zf2, this morning I dropped my phone, after that everything is still working until this afternoon, while doing some chats sim card just become undetected. I tried to remove the sim and back with both sim 1 & 2, sim 2 can detect but not sim 1
Until I decided to open and check my phone if there is any broken parts, everything just seems fine except for the sim card flex that's not tightly inserted.
After putting things back together and performing a clean install of LOs (Assuming it was a custom rom issue/bug) both sim 1 & 2 can't detect sims now.
I think there was this 2 parts that can cause this, the sim card's flex (the location of the sim) (also the one that connects the main board and the sub board), or the sub board (the lower board) (the one with the charger connector, mic, speaker, and vibrator).
Speaker and charging is still working, also fast charging, so I can assume sub board is not the problem but since vibrator is located in that part and it is damaged, I'm not that sure. Everything is still working except for the sim detection and vibrator.
Which one should I replace? is the sim card flex or the sub board? Or is there something more I should check?
My phone is ZenFone 2 ZE551ML/Z00A with LOs 14.1 installed.
I badly need some help.
Sorry for my english.
Update:
I manage to bring back to detect sim 2 with another clean format (build 27/01 and back of LOs for my device really have that sim2 issue detection, but not sim 1), but not sim 1.
So, yesterday I tried taking my SIM card out, but it had become stuck. While trying to free it, I ended up snapping the sim tray. After cursing at myself for a long while, I tried removing the damaged sim tray but lifted a couple pads with the soldering iron.
I do see, however, that there are the empty solder pads for a second SIM slot. I soldered on the sim tray from another old phone, but obviously the phone thinks it's not dual-sim. Hence, it will not recognize the second SIM slot I've attached.
My question is, can I flash some firmware from a dual-sim Moto G5, onto this one, and get it to function?
I'm currently running AEX 8.1 on the phone, but I'm willing to flash whatever is necessary to make this work. Thanks!
