Navigaton keys on keyboard - HTC 10 Questions & Answers

Hi,
i´m missing the navigation key on my new HTC 10 :crying:
I find it difficult to get to the right position without them...
Is there any chance to get them ?
Thanks Chris

You could install default HTC keyboard like the m8 has. I use leedroids Tom where this keyboard is implemented. If you use the TouchPal keyboard you can also as the option by adding the edit shortcut

What I ment was the "old default" keyboard like the HTC m8 got. For the edit button, press the icon top left of your keyboard (TouchPal icon I guess) and then press and hold the <I> icon (this is the edit icon) to add it as shortcut. It will show up on the right side of the TouchPal icon, see print screen.

Numeral keypad for typing messages?

is there a tweak or something that can give the TP2 "onscreen numeral keypad" for typing messages, like on the touch hd and diamond 2 ?
i have looked through the hole tweak tread but didnt find anything for this problem...
can someone please help me...
It can switch to entering numbers and symbols by pressing the "12#" key on the onscreen keyboard. Is this what you mean?
no i mean how to get a onscreen "mobile T9 keypad" like on a "classic" cellphone. for typing messages. i like it for one hand typing. i know the diamond 2 has it, and i think also the hd.
Oh, you wanted a T9 phonepad!
When my Dopod D810 (Trinity) was upgraded to WM6, HTC omitted from the ROM the PhonePad that was originally on these WM5 devices, so they issued a patch to install it. I wonder if the patch would work on TP2 as well

If you press the "new sms" button and when the onscreen keyboard pops up you press the little arrow to the right of the keyboard icon at the bottom of the screen. Now a menu should appear with several options. Choose "Phonekeypad" and you're done.

HTC Keyboard - Froyo

Hi all,
maybe this has been addressed somewhere already, but I haven't found it.
In stock Eclair there was a "hide" button on the onscreen keyboard. In all of the Sense Froyo ROMs I've used, there is a "change keyboard layout/language" button instead. Now if I want to hide the keyboard (e.g. to access controls that are under it) I have to either push the menu button or click somewhere outside a text control. This approach is rather clumsy, the "hide" button was much more useful.
Is there a way to restore this "hide" button? Or does someone has an apk of the Eclair sense keyboard that would work with Froyo?
Thanks
I think you need to search for HTC ime mod. HTC keyboard for stock android.
Push the back button and the keyboard disappears
I do know what Sigismund83 means and it's quite frustrating, I've only just got used to hiding the Keyboard by using the back button, but I wish there was a quick-hide button like there was prior to upgrading to Froyo. I've even had a dabble in the Android's keyboard, but the keyboard is too tall and when I'm creating an sms, I'd like to read over what I had prior and it's difficult to do so.
Gonna check out HTC IME Mod to see if that's any good.
Actually perfect! I've got it exactly how I want it after a few minutes of faffing about..
Sigismund83, you can download the keyboard from:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=624416
And the settings I use to make it look like Stock IME are as follows..
I deselected "Show candidates bar" and got rid of the "Smiley hack" within the User Interface by [email protected] and it was perfect.
Hope this helps
Oh and before I forget, if you've got Dropbox, best thing to do is upload the apks there then use the Dropbox app to download and the phone will prompt to install. But if you're not lazy (unlike me), just shove them on the memory card and install with ASTRO.

This sure works too, but I'll look for the apk anyway. I was kinda used to this button (similar was also in WinMo devices). But I might as well change my habits
Worked

Android 2.2 Keyboard settings

Hey guys,
I noticed that the keyboard settings icon that was included in the keyboard itself in 2.1 is actually missing now in 2.2. I used to jump to keyboard settings using that icon when I wanted to disable/enable the prediction feature, Because sometimes I need to write some uncompleted words as in MSN app, Twitter app and Facebook. So is there a way to get that icon back to the keyboard instead of going all the way to main menu and then settings then keyboard settings then I change what I want ...?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Note: the icon I'm talking about was located on right of the keyboard hider icon.
In a word, no - it's no longer there as it's now the 'multi-language' icon. Only way is to go into the main settings via the menu (never use prediction so not an issue for me)
OK thanks for replying and help.
Is there any way that the Developers here can make something to get it back on?
Thanks anyway, it's not something that I can't live with. But it's really annoying to go all the way to the main menu to enable or disable the prediction feature.
Just press the 'multi language' key and at the bottom of the menu that comes up is a settings button.

[Q] Keyboard and Launcher Pro Issueswith Calkulins 2.1.8

Two issues with this rom:
A) can't get home switcher to stay loaded so that I can switch to Launcher Pro. Is there anyway around this?
B) Is there any way to get rid of the HTC embedded mod keyboard and use Swift Key? There is no setting under KEYBOARD which allows you to choose which keyboard to use?
Thanks, in Advance....

A) Ok do this presss menu>settings>applications>manage applications>press the "All" tab>Scroll down to HTC Sense and tap it> scroll down and select "clear defaults"> now from the Home button on your phone(looks like a house)>A Complete Action Using window should appear> Check the "Use by default for this action" button>then select launcher pro......Laucher pro should be your default launcher now.
B) under settings>Language & Keyboard. Check the box next to all the keyboards to enable them. now open a text or something where you need to type. tap & hold in the text field until the "Edit Text" window appears then select Input Method and then pick your poison....DONE.
Hope that answers your questions bud.

[Q] switching between keyboards while texting

I have swiftkey installed and I just got this fun keyboard called Gif Gif Gif that lets you send gifs in text messages. The gif keyboard sucks as a regular keyboard so I want to be able to switch between SwiftKey and Gif Gif Gif but it doesn't allow me to switch in the texting app ( I use Textra). I felt like in the past you were allowed to change the input by holding down on the space in the text input but I now find that it doesn't work anymore.
Any solutions or knowledge of this?
While you're using swiftkey (or any other keyboard) look in the notification bar. There should be a keyboard icon there. Drag the notification bar down and press on the keyboard entry in the list. In the list that pops up, press on the keyboard you want to use.
