Hi,
Maybe a noob question, but we all know that Snapdragon 820 can work with Quick Charge 3.0.
My question is : a custom ROM could enable this feature ? maybe locked by Oneplus ...
If not, it's a hardware problem ? If someone can explain to me the reason ...
It could be. The phone already accepts 5v 4amp. It's probably in the kernel.
My assumption is that certain hardware for voltage regulation is required for QC right? Isn't this hardware missing since OnePlus moved the voltage regulation away from the phone to the wall charger?

Why would you want QC3 when you already have an equivalent fast charge ?
There is a power controller that determines whether you can do that, its hardware and by the looks of it 1+ decided to do it their own way.

OnePlus will release the dash charge blobs soon so that they work with custom Roms. They said they'll release at the end of July, which could be next week
Sent from my OnePlus3 using XDA Labs
Quick Charge is a closed proprietary standard so enabling it involves communicating via a closed protocol which is allowed to pull a higher power, so it's pretty infeasible regardless of the SoC.,
What I'm interested in enabling is USB-C fast charging (5v @ 3a) since those accessories are much more common and still very fast

Go to forums.oneplus and search for "Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 vs OP Dash Charge".
I think that thread might answer your question. In my opinion Karthik Raghavan explained well it there.

Lenovo Zuk Z2 Plus
What about Lenovo Zuk z2 plus it also has Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 but the charger is 5v 2A. Is it possible to enable in that.

That just means they didn't give you a qc 3.0 fast charger. They skimped on it to lower costs. Get a qc 3 charger and it will work

Forget about QC, USB-PD and USB3.0 would be better to enable or port. Dash is overrated.

Well the Note 3 should support Quick Charge 2.0 because it comes with the Snapdragon 800 and above. The question is whether this works or not, especially since it's USB 2.0.

So, is there anyone with direct experience with this?
So I've done a lot of Google searches on this but can't find an answer. Does anyone know if the MediaTek in the M9+ will support Quick Charge or any similar technology?

as the name implies Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 is a Qualcomm only feature so no it's not going to work on a mediaTek processor.
what does the box hype on the phone / website say about quick charging ?
Should work with 1.8 ampere
MTK's fast charging is named Pump Express Plus, another certificate not QC2.0.
http://www.mediatek.com/en/features/power-management/pump-express/
But there is still unknown if M9+ will work with this technology.

I know the pro version supports Quick Charge 3.0 but does the normal version too?
And someone knows what display glass they use? Some people say gorilla glass 3 but not sure.
Gorilla 3 and QC 3
anyone please tell lenovo z2 plus (India) supported good QC3.0 adapter? send a buy option link?
Does anyone know if the USB cable for the Zuk Z2 is up to spec?
ZUK Z2 (Lenovo Z2 Plus) doesn't support QC3.0

I have tried multiple charger/cable combinations and haven't been able to get quickcharge to work. I bought a cheap supposedly QC3.0 compliant charger from China and tried that with the original leads and then some leads I got off of Amazon and just worked normally, then I bought a pricier, well reviewed Anker QC3.0 charger from amazon and cables that were advertised as QC3.0 compatible and still wouldn't work. Then tried the same setup with my friend's HTC 10 and boom! quickcharge.
I should mention that I was on the official Indian 2.0.111 ST ROM that was an OTA update from 2.0.093 that I flashed after getting a vendor ROM, so as official as it gets. The phone is advertised as QC3.0-compatible so either someone cocked it up or they haven't had the time to enable the function. Roumor has it that we're getting ZUI 2.5 next week so maybe then.

We were talking about the standard version Z2131 (not the Pro Z2121), which unfortunately does not have Quick Charge 3.0 enabled.
So it supports or not because gsmarena says it supports so do reviewers but i don't have a quick charger to very .Should i buy one?
The ZUK Z2/Plus doesn't have QC 3.0, I have tried a QC 3.0 Power Bank and a AC Adapter to no avail.
I did a test on this, basically the Z2 (non-pro) will charge SLOWER with a QC charger than with the stock charger. Having said that, the standard charger is not that slow (104 minutes 0-100%), which is faster than Google Pixel XL which has similar 3450mah.
I wrote more information and graphs here:
http://zukfans.eu/community/threads/info-z2-quick-charge-speed-testing-discussion.3132/
nvm
The word out there is that maybe the phone supports it but the kernel doesn't and no one is willing to modify the kernel for this because its risky. One thing is brick your phone and making it useless by doing so another thing is taking the risk of the phone blowing up or burst into flames. Even if someone changes the kernel for some reason and is irresponsible enough to make it available I will not flash it. It is just too risky. Only if Lenovo releases it someday (which I doubt it) I will then put it in my phone. I also bought a QC3.0 charger only to realize it didn't work.
Doesnt support it. Maybe QC 2.0
I have tested QC on stock 2.5 ZUI as well as on MOKEE 61.1 and 71.1
One thing Im sure about that when my Le Pro 3 wasnt dead, it charged its 4070mAH battery in 1:30 minutes while Zuk Z2 takes 2 hours to charge on same cable and adapter. Whatever they advertise it as, isnt being delivered. No idea if kernel cocked it up or really the hardware doesnt have support for it.

I was answering pertaining to the point made for Z2 (not pro). Z2 is known as Z2 Plus in India, while marketed as Z2 worldwide wherever, even the box says it is Z2

I've seen conflicting reports of what type of charging the s8+ supports... I've read because it's a sd835 cpu it has qc4.0 and I've also read it's the same old Samsung "adaptive quick charge" that's been around in Samsung phones for the last couple of generations?
Can anyone knowledgeable verify this for me once and for all?
Sent from my Rooted Galaxy S7 EDGE on Android 7.0 Nougat, here's the instructions how to do it!
QC 2.0 & also USB-C PD at certain voltages.

Hardware is QC 4, but Samsung didn't pay for license and only activated QC 2.
Hey Guys,
We all know Mi China release 32/3 GB variant of RN5.
By the way,My Queries to them,Who already own it.
1.How much RAM You get free on regular usages?
2.How's About Headphone/Earphone Audio(Music) Quality?
3.How much time it takes to fully charged with QC 3.0 Charger?

1) 1.4 - 1.7 GB for me with medium usage.
2) Awesome. Root and you get Dolby; Mi Enhancer works well.
3)QC 3.0 is not supported, QC2.0 takes 2.15 - 2.30 hours.
Please use the Thank's button if this was helpful.

The Indian Version supports QC2.
The Chinese Version supports QC3.
I referred to Indian Version as
-> QC 3 compared to QC 2 is not a big jump, the power output is almost the same, the 8% gain is from increased charging efficiency.
-> Indian Version was launched first.
However possibilities are that Indian Redmi Note 5 Pro can support QC3 via root access and other things which I am currently aware about fully.

I`m wondering the same.
Mostly use phone for email, maps and 4-5 social media apps.
3 GB is quiet enough, but i highly recommend at least 4GB.
If we use that phone for regular use,3GB ram is quite enough.but 4GB ram would be better for them who're used to play some games along with extra storage.
