LG G PAD 10.1 VK700 (Verizon)... Flash Custom Recovery. - G Pad 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

After many attempts of flashing numerous versions of twrp, and philz i still have not managed to get a custom recovery image flashed. I used flashify pro and it told me that the file was flashed, after which i rebooted and still no luck. I have been researching for a week now and have not found a solid fix for this. I have also tried adb pushing and fastboot flashing (after flashing the twrp image i am able to get into fastboot but not the custom recovery...), yet again no luck there either. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Sure is lonely here for vk700 owners. Same problem, no recovery for this device.

[Q] 2 recoveries on 1 phone?

Hi everyone,
I just got my G Pro a couple days ago. I've been trying to read up as much as I can on the phone. I bought the phone used. It's on the V10k firmware (value pack or whatever they call it) and it was rooted, but I never did check to see if it had a custom recovery installed. Now, I installed FreeGee from the Play Store and had it flash TWRP 2.6.1. Installed successfully. But, when I reboot the phone, and I push a button to enter recovery mode, it takes me to CWM 6.0.2.8 by 985hPaKick v1. To top it off, if I "reboot recovery" from within CWM, or if I use "adb reboot recovery," it'll take me to TWRP. Anybody have a clue what's happening, or is this normal and I'm just not hip to it yet? I would've figured that if CWM was on here originally and I didn't know it, flashing TWRP would've just overwritten CWM. I'd like to be able to flash custom ROMs and such but I've never had this occur to me with an Android before, and I'm not trying to brick this thing. Any help and guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Im new to the LG world also. I dont know how this happened but if you flash back to stock via LG flash tool then reroot. You can Freegee a recovery over the stock one just reflashed. When I flashed the TWRP recovery the touch screen was dead(when in recovery mode) so I reflahed CWM over it with Freegee and it worked. Hope this helps
Thanks bud, I'll give it a try.

Always booting on Recovery F240 converted to E980

Hi. I have flashed a E980 KDZ to my F240K. It is going fine, then I rooted it, installed CWM, flashed Philz Touch, Flashed a Custom ROM, then rebooted, then I keep getting booted to the recovery. I tried many times to reboot, to no avail. Can anyone help me? Any help and solution will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Got the same Problem.... Only Recovery is loading and nothing more cant flash custom roms .... always error .... maybe bootloader brick ???
try this:
download and install the Hacked TWRP. reboot to recovery. Once in TWRP reboot to system. Say yes when prompted to fix root. That should get you out of the recovery bootloop.

[Q] Issue with flashing custom recovery into the OneX

I have been using Cyanogenmod 11 version along with CWM recovery for some time. Recently I installed a theme which crapped on my wifi settings (simple but irritating problem) which I couldn't fix it any which way. Long story short, I tried to install a new boot.img and ended up "soft bricking" my phone. I feel terrible on doing so, since honestly I loved the mods!!
Since the recovery I already had (CWM) wasn't helping me, I tried to flash a new recovery (TWRP) into the phone. After flashing (which worked), when I went to recovery mode, the touch screen nor the volume buttons were working in TWRP. Got frustrated and I tried to flash the old CWM recovery and it keeps giving me this error:
"writing recovery...
<bootloader> Formatting partition SOS done
Failed: <remote:err = 0xa>"
So, Things that are working in my phone are: Fastboot
Things that aren't working in my phone are: adb, not able to flash the recovery with fastboot, boot of course isn't happening..
Ideally I am planning to flash a new recovery and somehow copy a new boot.img and flash the same. Please help. If you feel this problem has already been discussed, you could just pass me on there.
PS: I have already tried solving this by looking at replies from many such forums...
Got it fixed!!
Somehow got PhilZ recovery installed and from then on, it was easy sailing!! I realized that the img should be less than 8MB. Not sure why but it is, what it is. :victory:

Optimus G has no boot after installing custom recoverery

Hi there. I've been trying to install Cyanogen 11 on my Optimus G and it's been nothing but trouble. I get root no problem but then when I put a either TWRP or CWM recoveries on the phone, it refuses to boot past the LG logo and I have to do a complete refresh with LGNPST. Does anyone have any ideas why it would fail like this? I've tried two difference versions of TWRP and CWM and nothing works. Further, if I try to install a custom rom through the new recovery, it just fails after completion (ie I upload the .zip file, tell it to install, and it runs and then fails).
So, it's driving me a little crazy. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I'm sick of being stuck on the Sprint build of 4.1.2.
Thanks!

After you root your phone, you must unlock your boot loader with Freegee first. Install that app from marget and unlock with Mako method. You cannot install custom recovery in locked boot loader.

[Q] G3 Corrupted Recovery

N00b needing some help. It seems I have corrupted the recovery on my rooted G3 VS985. Used TWRP Manager to flash TWRP. Followed the app's instructions, installed BusyBox, applied the KitKat/Lollipop patch, went ahead and flashed. Booting into recovery just gives me a black screen and blinking blue and red LEDs. Since I'm not an expert, I'm a little paranoid to continue.
If I use bump to flash TWRP, will that wipe the corrupted file and flash a working version of TWRP (assuming I don't eff it up)? I've also seen root methods for the G3 that install TWRP as well. If I unroot and reroot with one of those methods with a bum recovery, will I brick my device? Sorry for the n00b questions, and I appreciate the help!
