I have a Verizon G3 running JasmineROM 9.1 (5.1.1), it is not activated (Just used on WiFi) and it is dropping WiFi signal quite frequently.
Things I've tried:
rebooting the phone - it connected for a few minutes then dropped again
cleared my dalvik, cache, etc - it connected for a few minutes then dropped again
"forgot" all three of the networks I can connect it to - you can likely guess what happened
ran WiFi analyzer - noticed my broadcasted SSIDs had less signal than my neighbor's connections for a majority of the scan time. My connections would come up on occasion with the typical strong signal and drop again.
[during this my Google Play services ceased to work]
changed channel on WiFi, reset router
reverted to the stock ROM - nope
went back to JasmineROM with a fresh install - WiFi still going in and out, managed to have it connected for around 20 minutes and did not touch it. Now it's disconnected and the connection is labelled "0X" in the settings menu.
Edit: Bluetooth seems to work fine
Has anybody here experienced anything similar? This issue has just come up in the past 2 days and I've had the phone since January, I bought it used from a friend who takes excellent care of his devices and I try to do the same. I'm lead to believe that the WiFi chip may have overheated, but I don't excessively game or stress the components out. Nor do I fall asleep with the phone on. Obviously the phone is not under warranty so I wouldn't mind modifying it at this rate.
Thanks

It started yesterday and I don't know why. Go to check my weather, hit update and after about 10 seconds I get a bubble telling me that an unknown connection error ocurred and to try again later. I can make phone calls, send and receive texts, but can't check my weather. If I soft reset it works fine. Today, go to check my weather again and same problem. Been making phone calls and texting all morning without issue. Soft reset and again it works fine. Obviously, something is going wrong with my data connection over time, but what could cause it to just shut down completely requiring a soft reset to fix?
More weirdness. I tried manually turning on my data connection in the Connection Manager and as quickly as I turn it on it turns itself off. WTF! I haven't done/added anything to the phone in a week. Is this something on AT$T's end, could they be blocking me from using data for some reason?
About 2 weeks ago I did some regedit to have the data connection turn off automatically after 5 mins of non-use. It was working fine after that and anytime it needed a data connection it would make it. I don't remember where the setting was to change it back, but I doubt this is the problem because this issue just started yesterday.
I'm on AT&T also, on the new leaked ROM, and I have exactly the same issue. It started about 2-3 weeks ago, and I noticed the connection drops overnight (during the day I have no problems), and it'll only come back after restart or reset. I think it's AT&T's network...

Maybe they work on improving their towers and network lol
T-Mobile does that also.
i get a Could not coonect bubble, and have to manualy enable my data conection. If you guys are Tethering our providers automaticly drop our priority level...Unlimited my ass, they tried to cap me at Edge speed and all i had to do was disable/enable the data conection to blast 3g...
I found the problem, but I still don't know what caused it. I'm leaning towards something done on AT$T's end. I have always had my phone configured to use the AT$T ISP in network properties. Apparently, it no longer likes this setting. Switched back to MediaNet and all is working just fine. Problem is that when I first got the phone I did speed tests using both settings and AT$T ISP was faster, so that's why I set it that way. I can't test it now because it won't stay connected with that setting. Can AT$T block users from a particular connection? I don't tether and the most data I've ever used was 280mb last month. Hardly a reason to block me.
I'm not thethering either, my usage is roughly 600 MB/mo and my network is already set to MediaNet. This problem started recently, didn't have it before.
Looks like it is something going on with AT$T. A number of my friends from different states have reported issues over the past 2 weeks with several having severe connection issues the past few days. These are people on varying devices including iPhones, Blackberrys and smartphones. I hope it is due to AT$T finally upgrading their network and not overload from all the new iPhone users and abusive tetherers.
Soooo,... I seem to be able to connect to the wifi everywhere but at home on my linksys 400N. Everything was ok, a couple of hiccups, then things progressively went downhill until last friday then everything went dead with the wifi. Everything says it connects with no issue, says it is connected and doesn't drop but I get no data from surfing. Went to my sister's place in NY, and had no issues with her connection, everything was fine. Things I've done:
- Froze my account.
- switched from wep to wpa to wpa2 to no protection
- currently upgrading to Jugs 4.0 for KL1 will update back *Did not work*
- switched out routers to my old wrt54g
- toggled data packets, airplane mode, turn wifi on/off, jiggled the handle,...
- power cycled everything in the house including the refrigerator,....
- tried setting up a static ip addy
- have no mac filtering
- every other wifi device in the house has no problems.
- update got new sim card and didn't expect anything, but didn't help either.
at best i get a blip of wifi then it goes dead. I'm starting to get stressed. Obviously the phone's wifi works, and i've heard the wrt400n is a little iffy, but is there anything that i have missed?
singled out the router
avoid the wrt400n router. it does not play nice with the t989. soon as i plugged back in the trusty old wrt54g and sorted everything out there were no more issues
After having my Galaxy Nexus for a few weeks I'd like to share my experiences with 'possible' data connectivity issues.
Firstly,
Upon first activating my phone at an official Verizon store I noticed that I lost data and voice services for almost 20 minutes after the phone was first activated. Toggling of 3G/4G, Airplane mode, and even rebooting (battery pull) would not fix the problem... It eventually just started working and has been fairly reliable ever since.
On the second day of owning the phone I unlocked / rooted... Still using the stock rom, antenna, and kernel though.
Secondly,
I've started to notice that every time I switch data sources.... For instance
*Turning off Wifi when connected to an AP
*Turning off 4G services
I'll completely lose data connectivity for a period of seconds; no longer than a minute (all gray reception bars). However, I can still make calls and send texts. My question is, is this behavior normal for the device? I've never owned a 4G device before so I'm ignorant to the matter. I'm simply inquiring as if this is a sign of a faulty antenna VZW is going to owe me a brand new device (not some refurbished crap either...). If this is typical, then I suppose it's just the nature of the beast. Either way, I've love to hear from others regarding their experiences.... Thanks!
Regards,
-Doug
When I had the thunderbolt data would drop in and out when switching from 3/4G and from wifi.
when you are switching from wifi to 4g/3g, it has to change your IP address, as its a different network. 4g to 3g viceversa it has to switch what frequency it is talking on, and reestablish communication with your carrier. switching data source will always drop data during the switch.
some later software upgrades have, and will reduce the time between switches, but there will always be some form of drop
Has anyone been having any issues with the WiFi randomly cutting out?

Mine did it twice today, whereas my G2 would know to reconnect upon scan...
Hopefully this is just a one. time thing.

Hopefully your issue isn't as serious as mine is. I literally just got off the phone with T-Mobile and they will be sending me a replacement phone.

I had this issue with my first G4, but i sent that back due to damaged leather back i have had a couple times with the second one where the wifi acts funky, not a problem but def like wtf moments
No problem with disconnects here.
Mine definitely disconnects and reconnects randomly
My verizon g4 disconnects periodically. Should I be ordering a replacement?
I haven't seen this with my H811 G4.

Only had the phone a day so haven't seen this yet but i did get it randomly with my G3. I could never figure it out. A quick on/off of the Wi-Fi fixed it quickly. Router is Netgear Nighthawk. About 8 other Wi-Fi devices in the house and never seen it on anything else.
I've been seeing this on my H811. It's nothing major but it does cut off then quickly reconnect after several seconds.

Mine also does this on the T-Mobile version.
H810 here. My G4 seems to strongly - and I mean really strongly - favor mobile data. My house is festooned with wifi access points and yet my G4 often turns its wifi radio off and I have to manually turn on wifi, then manually connect to a nearby access point. As I move through the house, rather than connecting to an access point with a better signal, it shuts the wifi radio off, altogether.
The G4 has shut its wifi radio off while I've been in the process of selecting a wifi access point. It's shut its radio off right after I've selected the access point I want and while I'm booting up the web browser.
Today, at work, the G4 is continuing to seemingly randomly shut off its wifi radio. When I manually turn it on, then select the access point, I find the phone has forgotten the password.
Very frustrating.
As an experiment, I have now shut off mobile data, to see if that will coax the G4 to seek and maintain its wifi connection. But there's no way I'm going to spend my day turning off or on mobile data, wifi radio, etc. I'm already manually turning Location on and off, to preserve battery power.
had wifi issues on the 2 g4's i've had. sent first one back due to damage to back cover on arrival. Glad its not just me having wifi issues
Having these issues as well. Rebooting my router sometimes stops it from happening, but quite frustratingly, the phone gets very hot (and discharges quickly) as a result. Have had a hot, dead phone before.
Most of the WIFI routers have different type of connections G / N / B, The N type is not a !00% compatible with our G4, therefore I suggest you to change to B/N, after I change the protocol, I havent see the WIFI issue so far.
I had Wi-Fi disconnects because I had turned on the advanced option to automatically swap to Mobile data on weak Wi-Fi signal. After that was turned off, the Wi-Fi worked as it should.

Where is it said that our phone isn't compatible with N?
From http://www.gsmarena.com/lg_g4-6901.php : WLAN Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band, Wi-Fi Direct, DLNA, hotspot
I found that disabling ipv6 on wlan0 fixed my slow wifi issue, but still getting the disconnects. (it reconnects automatically though)
http://i.imgur.com/HUDYd71.png - I have a script to disable ipv6 at every wifi connection.
Every instance of SManager is my wifi reconnecting randomly in the house yesterday at my desk.
I have had this issue on my H811 since new. It does it more on 5 Ghz than on 2.4 Ghz, but it still happens. It's more common at home with my Asus router than at work with the Cisco APs they use.
After the latest update I have noticed that the iPod touch I keep in the car disconnects from the hotspot on the phone way too often. This never happened with the previous build, but I also didn't have xposed installed before. Has anyone else noticed any issues with their hotspot?
I got an LG G4 on Friday in the UK and it is running version 10D.
I am encountering this issue and I am finding it extremely annoying - did anyone find a resolution?
It is so frustrating it is getting to the point where the phone will be going back for a refund. It does it at any location with WiFi I go to, so I know it isn't a configuration issue on my WiFi at home.
I'm having this issue too all of a sudden. First thing I noticed was excessive battery drain. But every few minutes it connects to a different ap in my house. Other phones and devices don't do this. Time to dig.
Hello Folks,
In summary, the WiFi stack on OnePlus 11 is quite unstable compared to other smartphones (that are also based on Qualcomm SoC with built-in modems).
First off, I've two 802.11 AC (WiFi 5) routers. Compared to my Asus (ROG 5) and Motorola (Moto G 5G Plus) phones, I've noticed that my new OnePlus has better reception for both mobile and WiFi networks. E.g., at the same location where ASUS has say -30db signal, OnePlus 11 shows -27 or -28db. So performance wise, it's fantastic, however, stability of WiFi connectivity is subpar. Between performance and stability, obviously I always prefer stability. I've up-to-date OnePlus 11 CPH2449 device (CPH2449_11_A.08).
I've been using the phone for about 5 days & these are the three distinctive WiFi problems with OnePlus 11 that I've observed in that duration:
1. WiFi dieing silently:
I've seen many times that all of a sudden the WiFi symbol will disappear. Then checking the status of the connectivity will show that it had silently dropped/died. Sometimes, it'll reconnect on its own within 10 odd seconds. When it doesn't, then toggling WiFi off and then on may help. When even that doesn't help, then toggling airplane mode on and then off becomes necessary/only-way to re-establish the connection. During these episodes, the phone is barely 2 metres away from the routers with a clear/unobstructed line of sight with them. Needless to say, neither ASUS nor Moto exhibit this problem while these episodes are playing out with OnePlus 11.
2. VoWiFi dieing silently:
While operating the phone (non-phone-call situations), a number of times I've seen that the VoWiFi logo would drop and VoLTE logo would appear. Interestingly enough, within a matter of 10+ odd seconds, it'd re-establish the VoWiFi connectivity on its own.
3. WiFi not roaming efficiently:
When moving faraway from one router and close to another, it doesn't roam to the closest one, instead holding onto the furthest one. But putting the phone down for say a minute with the screen off, triggers the roaming to the closest router! WiFi assistant neither helps nor hinders this behaviour.
In short, it'd seem the whole WiFi stack is riddled with stability issues. I've done "Reset Network settings", which didn't help with those issues.
Am I the only one facing these issues?
Thanks for any help/guidance.
Wifi Issue
Anyone have wifi dropping off and reconnecting after flashing to oxygen os? I seem to keep experiencing this. Anyone have any fix?
forum.xda-developers.com
No issues with Wifi.
Just downloaded over 130GB over Wifi and ftp server on the phone without a single interruption. Took over 3 hours and no problem.
I have similar issues. My wifi will randomly drop out and then pick up again in that time sometimes it will say internet offline. I've been noticing it the last week or so when that happens.
I've escalated my problems to OnePlus support. After a number of discussions, I think we got the winner: Disabling ipv6 in my WiFi network seems to stabilise it!
I've been trying this only for the past few hours, but it's proving positive so far. Still I'd prefer to test this over at least a day or two.
I've had WiFi just stop working finds no networks. Even turning the toggle off and back on again doesn't work. But after a reboot works fine again. Mines a euro model on fw09

I've seen similar behaviour. Turning flight mode on and then off helped me on those circumstances. Mine too EU version CPH2449.
Now, if the root cause is identified and addressed, then it ought not to even regularly disconnect from WiFi in the first place, so subsequent problems like reconnection issues can be avoided then.
Disabling ipv6 has proven to be a good workaround for vastly improving my phone's WiFi stability. Of course, they need to identify and resolve the problem that's making WiFi & ipv6 incompatible though.
