New Roms for rooted and locked MM - Verizon Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Now that we have a unlocked MM with MM bootloader and such , is there any other roms beside Jasmine. Is any of the international roms compatible?

I was wondering same thing... I'm going to try a couple when i get home.. Was wondering was issue, that we needed the data fix because we were on 5.1.1 boot loader, or other issues

I ran the Echoerom Pure Note 4, it loads, runs fine, only problem, would be the datafix for it to get a signal....
FYI

@cavemanb did you have to apply the fix, to get data to work???

I could not get the data to work, the few data fixes that I tried would just cause a boot loop --- so the rom itself worked fine, just could not get a the data working
So Louforgiveno mm data fix V2, and another V910 3.3 data fix is what I tried-- no success

When did the unlock for mm get posted I've checked around and haven't seen any posts about it

Same with the emotion revolution rom. With no data fixes the rom starts up and Flys .. add the same data fix..... just bootloop..
I even tried other data fixes... with no luck.

Aren't the data fixes relying on the LL modem? I would think that could cause issues when flashing to a device with the MM modem.

Wifi and Fingerprint fix on Verizon Note 4 SM-n910v
After unlocking my bootloader then rooting my phone I found that flashing any MM mod would leave my Wireless and Fingerprint not working but when I flashed the H-Vitamin Kernal both worked afterwards both with Pauls Pizz mod and Cyanogen mod 6-22..

Hey guys....here is a new Datafix that hopefully will work for the new 6.0.1 firmware....please test and report back....the files in this fix were pulled from Canadian note 4 MM rom, hoping this works.....if not.... if anyone here knows where I can find a stock MM rom for Verizon (zip file preferably deodexed) that will be my next approach.
Thanks for your patience and feedback.

No thank you for doing it

@louforgiveno ....I'm doing a nand right now so I can check out the new fix. I'll report back in a bit. You mentioned you might need a Verizon MM release, will Jasmine rom, or PhilPizz rom work? They are basically stock.

perhaps....are they touchwiz MM roms? basically I need copies of all the files in the datafix, pulled from a "stock" VZW MM rom....however it is possible that being all snapdragon might work fine as is

Boost Mobile Variant of Galaxy S3

I recently purchased the boost mobile variant of the galaxy S3, i have got it rooted and custom recovery but none of the ROMS for sprint are working correctly, is there a development started yet? Ive tried several roms and things not working range from camera to 4G, to just overall sluggishness. If anybody knows a good rom thats working for the boost model, or knows how to get working 4G, i have tried flashing a backup of my stock modem.bin file over odin, but it fails at the end. any help is appreciated!

yes I have the same problem but when I asked boost mobile about it they told me that they haven't upgrade the signal towers to get 4G LTE on all areas and this will be done by the end of the year so the only thing i don't know exacly the date they are planing on doing this(because I used to have the GS2 and that one does conect to 4G but it's not an 4G LTE like the GS3).

Ok folks, here's my request. I'm so close to getting a zip ROM for the Boost variant, but I need a few things. Could someone contact me either on here or in PM and provide a copy of the Boost boot animation files and the build prop from a Boost S3, not one from another carrier that's been flashed to Boost. I got a zip to boot today, but it bootlooped. Not because of these files, but if I'm going to do this, I'm going to do it right, and the backup I'm using to make the zip is Boost, but the build.prop says d2vmu, and I want to make sure I'm using the right one. Thanks in advance everyone. Let me know!

No, I have a backup from a non activated Boost s3, but it's missing a few things for some reason. I'm just going to pull yours apart and use what I need, or night build the zip using your system.ext4 and boot.img if I find its all intact .

Guess I've been out of the loop. I'm running the previous 4.4.4; can this just be installed in recovery or does this bring in a new bootloader? Have you seen any differences with the new modem?
Thanks for helping keep the development rolling with the S4!

How about the kernel? in TWRP?
So what should be the order.
Flash modem in odin,
then full rom in TWRP then lastly the kernel?

Modems always with odin.
Kernel, twrp
Modem, rom, kernel
Rom kernel modem
Rom modem kernel.
Doesn't really matter. Except rom before kernel.

Thanks for your fast reply. I'm having a difficult time getting this to work.
I did the modem, before i even did anything else and verified that the baseband said nk2.
Then i tried installing the rom, and then immediately installing the kernal, then booting into system.
It all seems to work but i can't seem to get wifi to turn on. So i tried wiping all again, and booting into system and same thing.
Any suggestions? I'm trying to flash the system again without the kernel and will see if it works. Can you help explain what the kernel does?
thanks shinyside

Shouldn't have an issue, least none of the 60 download and runners, have said anything or reported any issues.
What bootloader and such are you on?
Just set to permissive, or should be haha, I don't have my s4 anymore to check. Should say permissive in Settings. Stock kernel is set to enforcing which is a "security" thing that blocks stuff like a lot of root apps or xposed/xposed modules from working properly. It's the stock kernel, just the ramdisk is edited to be permissive.

What are the major differences between NH7 / NK2?
Thanks for your continued support and efforts with the Galaxy S4 development.
My question is this, if I may . . .
What are the major differences between NH7 / NK2?
Was there some new service that Samsung rolled out?
In what way is NK2 better than NH7 ?

From what I know using both: modem (baseband) and additional support languages.
From what I have experienced, lte reception is a tat better.
I would just flash the modem unless you like stock.

Stock is always nice, but I was thinking that there was a new service that was an addition to what was previously released.
Thinking that there was a cross over to Lollipop with a touch-wiz enhancement.
Some new security level or even a Samsung service with data like you mentioned enhancement with LTE. . .
Even though it is Stock, I sure would like to know what was different about this release and why is Samsung pushing this release out.
Hopefully it wont be long before other developers pick this puppy up and tweak the heck of the property build and include the 4 way reboot and such . ...
Stock is always sweet :good:

You'd have use the settings, framework, system ui, mms, contacts, phone, and all to use the systemui and settings from HispAsian. I modded and themed the living hell out of that rom, and you'd have some major text issues and other ui issues, using its systemui and settings in this base among other issues probably. Have to use the ones from the base and just mod it in

[5.1.1/OF7/OFE] Mostly Stock Kernel - with root! (7/14/15)

Here it is! Root for 5.1.1 thanks to @djvoleur! I helped a little but he did most of the work. Thanks also goes to @g.lewarne for his work on Unikernel as a couple of their ramdisk commits were needed to get this going.
This will trip KNOX. It will. Trip. KNOX. IF YOU HAVE NOT TRIPPED KNOX YET - THIS WILL TRIP IT. ALSO - you CANNOT downgrade after you take the OTA so be sure you want it.
I hope that's clear enough?
Instructions:
After you've booted into OF7 or OFE, go to Settings > About device and tap Build number 7 times to enable Developer Mode.
Go back and select Developer options and turn on OEM unlocking
Reboot in to download mode (Power + Home + Volume Down)
Use ODIN to flash boot-of7root.tar
After your phone boots you will now have root! You may also be back on stock recovery, which is fine since we don't have a working one for 5.1.1 just yet
You'll notice constant messages about security issues because of KNOX and the kernel being permissive. To get rid of these, open Titanium Backup (or your personal favorite app freezing app) and freeze SecurityLogAgent.

If you have any questions, post in this thread and @djvoleur and I will be watching. And if you'd like to send any trucks full of money, I'm sure we can arrange that via PM.
ENJOY!
@g.lewarne is the unikernel dev. Glad you guys figured it out, he's been camping and not really able to download anything so grabbing your kernel source was pretty tough.

I believe it turned out to be a PEBKAC error there at the end Thanks for the offers to help though! Definitely appreciated here in the land of misfit S6s.
Working beautifully here, thanks.
Is there a recovery for 5.1.1 yet?

So this is root for the 5.1.1 update?
How can I update to 5.1.1, if I'm currently rooted on 5.0.2?
Thanks!

There's a test version of TWRP here that appears to be working, nothing official yet (nothing to flash either anyways).

Yes, this is root for the OF7 update. Best way to update right now since we still don't have a stock tarball for OF7 yet is flash back to stock OE2, update, and flash this kernel for root.

Yes, this is for the Sprint GS6 (G920P).
Does the device go into deep sleep after root with this method? Or is the deep sleep fix needed after this? Thanks!

Is there any way to flash this onto an S6 Edge? 925P? Or would it need it's own specific kernel?

New OGA update rolling out. Stagefright fixer!

Would you update your device to fix the Stagefright? Or would skip the update because you want root? Let's hope the current root trick works on this one.
Full build no. G920PVPU2BOGA.

This issues has been around for awhile so i would wait to see what the developers do
I'm not rooted so I just downloaded this 53mb update and it's applying now. Actually advises that it's a security fix for Stagefright and nothing else. It has finished applying in the time I've been typing this and just rebooted, but it has to go through the app optimizing. It jumped up to 224 of 348 quick enough, but the time consuming wait for the rest of them. Tick, tock...
Downloaded and am installing now.
I installed this update did not notice anything else changed. For some reason the s6 stagefright fix was only around 50MB while the S5 was close to 300MB, and the only thing claimed to be fixed in the s5 release notes was the same thing.
Updated, and screw root. Phone good enough to not need it.

What he ^^^^^ said!
Can someone give me an fast link to the OGA G920P or G925P firmware please? Or to the OTA zip.
So that I can rip the fixed stagefright lib files from it for my ROM.
Getting 1.2gb system RAM usage after the update. Hoping it's a tiny fix, it's a relief to have 600MB more free to do what I want with, was getting 1.8/1.9GB system ram usage before update.
Will post update in a few hours to see if this is still true.
Any root for it yet guys?

So I was looking up where to get the kernel source code for the new oga update and Samsung has not released it yet.. I was thinking of trying to learn how to make a kernel myself for root
I updated then flashed unikernel v6 0001 in odin and twrp and am now rooted on stock OGA , just wish i could remove carrieriq and itson.

Update then use odin to flash unikernel v6-0001 and then the twrp both here in xda forums. i did this and have full root with no issues.
Can someone (who have rooted OGA) upload all stagefright lib files in /system/lib & /system/lib64 folders for me please?
So that I can make an Stagefright flashable fix for all S6 models/firmwares.

Assuming the libs are the same for 920P and 925P, someone posted theirs for the 925P here.
edit - I don't know that they were rooted though.

Tried unikernel v6 and failed
Tried, went through Ok, but when got to phone the screen wouldn't work. Wouldn't register finger. Buttons worked though. Idk
You tried the update or changing kernel?

Did update, then used the mentioned kernel. Pass in Odin, but when phone rebooted just the buttons where working. No touch screen

Any improvement to battery or usability at all or signal strength or something you noticed different after updating bb and BL. Thanks.
After everything I have read in regards to the MM update for our tmo note 4, I find myself kind of nervious about doing the update. Can we downgrade to DOK2 just in case things are not so great on the EPE3 update?

So is there any special process to downgrading cuz I have seen everybody going crazy over not doing the update for that very issue.....if there is a method to the madness and can share just in case I want to go back down I will be very grateful and I am sure others will be too.

I've gone back and forth from both without any problems just use odin to flash bl/cp files. Since on MM BL/CP wifi won't work and camera won't focus. I use odin v3.11.1
Great well lm gonna go into the MM world tonight!!

Hi,
Your data fix worked but have some minor issues I guess,
1) it changes the power button menu back to LL style (not blurred background anymore)
2) long press of back key was gone (this brings menu option in apps like)
surprising that it worked I am on Noble ROM, and new TMobile BL..
This is going to make me sound like a newb... but what is this data fix for and what exactly does it fix?
Is it needed only for non-stock ROMS or does it need to be done with the official T-Mob ROM also?

this is for custom roms like S7E MM port roms
Did anybody figure out how to get back s7 power menu after flashing this fix? On other data fixes we lose the power menu and gets replaced with LL power menu also but I would just replace the build prop with the one from the rom zip i downloaded and i would get the power menu back. But that's not working anymore.
