Can't request unlock from Sprint, IMEI unlock instead - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S6

I bought a used Sprint Galaxy S6. I can't unlock it because I never had an account with Sprint and they only unlock phones for people who have an active account. I suppose I could make an account if I wanted to use Sprint (not sure right now) and then get it unlocked. I'm not sure if that would really work.
I have an unlock code that I got from the company which I bought the phone from, but I cannot get the phone to prompt me for the unlock code, even when I put a foreign SIM in the phone.
I've been frustrated with this situation for a while. I'd be willing to pay someone to do a remote unlock and root.

[Q] Selling Note 2 - What to do with Unlock Code?

I recently paid off my Note II in full and I am ready to sell it. I am a bit confused about the unlocking process, so I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction.
I've put the unlock code request in with T-Mobile. Once I receive the e-mail with the code, what do I do with it if I want to sell the device? Do I put it up on Ebay and say "Comes with unlock code", or is there a way I can unlock it myself to sell?
I ask this, because from what I see, I have to put a different carrier's SIM in the phone to unlock it. Since I only use T-Mobile, I don't have another SIM. I looked on Ebay and I see a lot of TMobile Note 2's that already come unlocked, so I guess I am wondering how I can offer a pre-unlocked phone without manually shipping them the code to do it themselves. I don't want to have any questions about me trying to cheat any buyer.
Any tips would be appreciated. Search function is down, or else I would have used that first.
Or should I not worry about it at all and let the buyer deal with the unlocking? The phone has zero account issues.

Get a friends sim card and unlock the phone. Take a screen shot of it working with att and tmo and post both pics so the buyer is reassured that its actually unlocked. Once u unlock it, put ur tmo sim back in. It should work fine.
Sent from my SGH-T889 using XDA Premium HD app
So the unlock isn't restricted to the SIM? Once it's unlocked, it's then free and clear to use any sim you throw at it without needing the code?

An IMEI unlock is permanent , similar to buying a " factory unlocked" device. Once its complete find a friend with a SimpleMobile ot ATT micro sim and take photos of the phone on both carriers and list it for sale.
Awesome. Thanks for the help!

Sim unlock for T-Mobile SM-P907T Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 edition?

Hi all,
Bought this tablet off of craigslist a couple months ago after meeting seller at the T-Mobile store and confirming all was good for him to sell, no money owing, not stolen, etc...
I want to now sim unlock it to other carriers. I see ads all over the place for sim unlocking for a fee. They have to be doing it somehow... Thought I'd call T-Mobile to ask them to sim unlock their device. Was given the run-around for an hour, no satisfaction! I tried the chat and the idiot T-Mobile rep gave same run-around stories.
I've searched high and low for something that can sim unlock this tablet. I've found nothing yet. The T-Mobile sim unlocking app wouldn't install, incompatible. Hell, we can root these tablets all day long and I have other phones I've rooted no problem, but I see nothing yet for a sim unlock. Is this some black art or something?? To give some props here or an example, I bought an AT&T Galaxy S off craigslist. Got to the AT&T web page to request sim unlock. Filled out the form. A day and a half later, sim unlock code sent. Put T-Mobile sim in, it asked for code, entered code, watch now sim unlocked!
So, if anyone can help point me in the right direction for more info, appreciate you!
I´m afraid you´ll have to pay for the unlock. T-Mobile won´t unlock it as you don´t meet requirements (not subscriber, to begin with) , and you won´t get it for free. At&t gave you the code, but that doesn´t mean all carriers would do the same. People that sell codes get them from employees, not from their website. Some options:
- Search for a repair shop that make unlocks, but keep in mind that unlocking a phone without carrier´s consent can be considered illegal, according to DMCA [read this]. Repair shops that have modern tools for that kind of job would take 20 - 40 minutes to unlock it.
- Order code from reliable source. Paying by paypal is not securing transaction in this case, as it´s qualified as 'service', not goods, so they don´t have buyer protection program.

unable to sim unlock t-mobile Z2

i have a tmobile Z2 i bought online and was not able to unlock it. It is very clearly a tmobile version but when i tried to use the unlock from tmo it say i am not eligible for an unlock i then called and they said the device was not sold by tmobile then called moto and got the same story. as of now i stick in an att sim and it does nothing only works on a tmo sim. any advice on how to carrier unlock this device.
T-Mobile devices require usage on the network before an unlock is allowed. Sometimes they will allow an unlock without use on the network, but since you did not buy the phone from them that most likely will not happen.
What is the error message you are receiving? If it is the device is not eligible, than it is in the server database and you should be able to unlock it after you have used it on the T_Mibile network.
If however you are receiving an unknown error, than the phone is not listed and you'll probably never get it unlocked.
Either way, it might be easiest to return the device to the seller if you're still within the return period.
Well even if I cant unlock it yet I have a friend who would be willing to use it for sometime and let it get time in on his account. The phone was already in use on the original sellers account so I thought that was enough. I will slap this tmo sim in it and give it some time it's the device I plan to do development on. I have a z2 from at&t so that my daily and this one can get bricked for all I care. I want to support the Z2 community
I had the same issue. Look for my post in the older unlocking thread. It's very straightforward and you can use a prepay sim to do it.

OEM Unlocking Help

I have a supposed 'unlocked' pixel from ebay, sealed in the box. A warranty replacement that was never used. While trying to turn on OEM Unlocking, it is greyed out and says "Unavailable on carrier-locked devices." I've tried everything I can think of or find online but it remains greyed out. It's updated to android 11. Unless someone has some advice here I'm going to have to sell this device as it is useless to me.
I only wanted it if I could unlock the bootloader which it seems I cannot.
What disclosures should I make to anyone wanting to purchase this device? Is it SIM locked or just OEM locked? Can this be used with any carrier as far as normal phone usage? I have put the IMEI into Ting and US Mobiles device checkers and they come back reporting the phone is ready to be used but I don't know how accurate that is. Could the previous owner still have the device listed in their account somewhere (Verizon or Google) which renders the phone unusable?
Does this only work on the Pixel 3? I couldn't find any similar option for the Pixel 3a XL posted.
Code:
From https://joshspicer.com/root-pixel-1
Open terminal in adb directory and type adb shell pm uninstall --user 0 com.android.phone
Thanks for any advice you can offer me.
As far as I know there is no way to unlock a Verizon 3axl. If it was Google then it would not have the option greyed out. The person who sold it to you may have meant carrier unlocked.
It was actually Sprint. The seller contacted Sprint and said they would unlock it. Somehow they are going to do it without me having to send it to them. So, that seems like just a SIM unlock to me? I've never had to have one unlocked before. I will report back afterwards. I had to download a virtual SIM to first activate it on Sprint's network. Anyone else go through this with Sprint?
From now on, if I want to purchase a phone off eBay I'm going to have to get the seller to show me the unlock option. That's not going to be easy as most sellers won't know how.

Once you get it sim unlocked you should be able to toggle oem unlocking. I had to get my TMO sim unlocked before I could oem unlock as the option was greyed out like yours.
You have to have the SIM card unlocked before the phone will let you OEM Bootloader unlock it.
This is to protect the wireless providers because if you could OEM bootloader unlock it even if it was SIM card unlocked, you would have an avenue to then unlock the SIM card lock.
Once the SIM Card is unlocked, then the OEM Bootloader option should be available (Verizon being the lone exception to the rule, but I believe there are work arounds to unlock the Verizon models after they are SIM Card unlocked).
To follow up, the SIM card unlock came through in just a couple of days. This was fortunate that the seller was willing to put the phone back on their plan in order to unlock it, others may not be able to do so; depending on how they purchased their used phone. Just be careful. You may have to sign up for the carrier and have the phone unlocked yourself. The OEM unlock toggle worked like magic. The phone is now sporting graphenOS and rocking and rolling forever free.
Thank you everyone for sharing your knowledge.
Sharing my story. Bought a used one listed refurbished on ebay for Sprint. Activated fine on my sprint account and I chatted in and asked to unlock it and they told me I had to wait 50 days. I waited 50 days chatted back they sent the unlock code and worked instantly. Running lineage now.

Question AT&T bootloader & Carrier lock

Well since I have found zero threads about AT&T bootloader unlock. Does anyone have any solution? Whenever I put in any other sim, it just says that unable to use any other sim apart from AT&T. So I just factory resetted my phone and blocked the device setup app from accessing the internet via the Netguard app. That's allowed me to use any SIM card apart from AT&T however it's not a permanent solution but I'd like to know my options. Any chance of me working around a carrier unlock or possibly bootloader unlock? I bought this phone outside the US, and to my stupidity I never factored in that this was also a possibility that it's carrier locked, that too with a bad standing. I tried unlocking online but it just says that there's payments overdue and that I should log into my AT&T account. Tried calling their customer service, however they're useless and unhelpful. Learned the hard way, depressed that I've kinda wasted my money. Can there possibly be a way to carrier unlock my device and bootloader unlock?
Can you return the phone? The seller should have disclosed that information and the phone will technically only be used on AT&T until it's paid off, and currently on AT&T (for 60 or 90 days before they will sim unlock)
I tried going back to the shop, they just said that there's no way that they offer returns and that I should just contact AT&T for this issue. I'm running out of options and patience. I'm basically stuck with this phone. There's really no check and balance here when it comes to these matters
