Hi guys
I've started using Google calendar as this has replaced my Sony calendar on my Z3 Compact and I like making amendments on PC and syncing the changes.
I have used http://www.guff.co/get-the-euro-2016-fixtures-on-your-calendar/ to add to the calendar which has worked great as it saves me manually typing it in.
Now my issue is that I've set the notifications to remind me that a match is on 30 min before game start but it doesn't seem to work. I've tested with a fake event and it does alert me via led and sound so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong...
Maybe it's the setting from the site guff, any insight would be useful as I'm looking to incorporate other sporting events!
Thanks

Yes I am an owner of the HTC 10 UK version, just trying to figure syncing and getting used to Google calendar.

I know Facebook fell out with Google about data sharing and stuff.
But I thought currently that only affected Nexus S.. (and new handsets after that).
Just noticed that my desire (currently running 2.3.3) can't sync the facebook calender like it could before on 2.2...
Anyone know if that's by design now?
I would have liked the birthday information coming across even though I rarely use FB.
I guess if I can't get it across I'll export and import it into my google calender... but it was nice to have!
cheers
Hmmm
Extract Facebook events and upload to Google Calender

that's exactly what I was thinking was my last resort.
Not that I can say the FB -> Android calender was any good - I had loads of issues with birthdays duplicating and not showing up, and some showing up from people I had defriended... but it saved me from exporting and importing!
just wondered if any updates to GB was kicking off this 'service' nowadays
there's a nice looking guide here: http://androidforums.com/incredible-tips-tricks/83350-how-sync-contacts-birthdays-calendar.html
Hey everyone,
I'm new to the Android world having used Windows Mobile for the last few years. What kind of advice or tips can you offer me on my Desire Z?
Is there any kind of task manager in Android?
I've got HTC Sync installed and have had my contacts and calendar synced with Outlook, but what else can be brought over to Android?
Is there a way to get my messages from Windows Mobile 6.5.X to Android?
I do not have a data plan as such, but I do have the ability to purchased data a la carte so that I can use it when necessary. Can I turn off data as I could in WinMo?
What about the Sense Weather ap? In Windows Mobile I could update my weather via USB or WiFi and the Sense Weather app on the WinMo home screen would also update without having to agree to using the Google's Location service. Is this still the case in Android?
Any other words of advice or tips and tricks for a Windows Mobile convert?
Firstly, welcome to android. Won't say its better than WM but its stil great.
To answer some of your q's,
Look into getting your contacts onto gmail. Direct sync is great and if you change/lose/break your phone, they will be saved online and automatically synced when you log in.
Messages are another matter. I'll leave that to someone else.
Tips for using android? Fiddle as much as you can. I've had 5 androids from 4 different man's and still figuring out what suits me best. A friend of mine has a galaxy s and hasn't changed anything on any of the home pages in 18 months. Why have android if you use the phone like that? May aswel have an iPhone.
Either way, enjoy

Since last week I have some problems with the gmail app on my One X. I don't seem to get all my emails on my phone. When I check my mail online, there is still unread email in my inbox?? I didn't get these emails on my phone? Somehow gmail didn't push them..
Furthermore I also don't receive push notifications from friendcaster. Only when I open the app, the messages get pushed??
Anyone here with the same problems?

Yes,i am using it because i have many account on multiple providers so i need the built in mail app.
EDIT:
I recommend to download from the playstore K-9 for pure and after that download Pure Messenger. That will allow you to use how many mail account you want(you set them up in the K-9) and after that add the widget from the Pure Messenger. This is how it looks:
Ok I see.
All I know is that there are diffrent types of protocol's one is POP and one is IMAP im not sure which one it is but I used to have one sent in my outlook and when i logged on to gmail in browser my mail is still there even though i deleted them on outlook.
I think a quick google search will help you fix the problem, al so i think IMAP is the one you need if you want read mail on your phone to be marked as read mail in you outlook/gmail account.
Im sure someone with more experience on this will be able to help you.
Good luck

I've come from owning an EVO 3D and the email client on that phone was second to none it did exactly what i needed out of an email client.
I've tried every single email client out there and notthing comes close to it besides the stock email client on JB but even that is lack luster if terms of features.
K-9 - won't work with exchange 2010
EE - works great to a point but with Push email on my phone heats up and drains my battery in like 5 hours, and i need instant email.
TD - Won't allow me to use 2 profiles at the same time.
Anything else i've tried doesn't have the features i need like the HTC client did.
Porting the email client over i realize is probably not gonna happen so.....I really like the nexus but I'm not sure what i can use.
Bit of an email background how i use it.
2 Exchange accounts, both have multipul folders i need synced and seen in the combined view area. 7 folder on one and 2 on the other.
I also have a support email i send from and when replying to an email need to select that email account to send from. (just used for sending email doen't come to this mailbox it comes to my main one.)
WHAT TO DO!!!!!
i absolutely love touchdown for my work exchange email, lets me sync specific folders and i can use push or set my refesh times as well as it has a nice widget for showing my next upcoming meeting and what meeting room it is in.
nvm, just saw u said td didnt work for what you wanted >.<
Have you tried maildroid? I don't know if it will do what you want, but it's worth a shot!
Yeah tried mail droid also. That didn't do what I wanted either.

For sure you looked in all the settings? I find it hard to believe that not one of those programs can do what the stock HTC app can.
I've looked in all settings in all programs. EE was the closest to what i wanted but couldn't bare with the battery drain.
I've been at this for 2 weeks. Installed every email app out there. And I did have an X10 a bit ago. But I did use TD then but only had 1 exchange email, now I have 2.

It's been a couple months of searching and barring with the stock asop email client.
I am now at the point of asking for the help of a dev to please help me and port the HTC email client to be used on asop.
There has to be some way of doing so... So that the sense framework will not be needed.
any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

any ideas on this? Just got the Nexus 7 2013 and can totally understand your pain. What app do you use? Or is there a way of rooting the Nexus and putting a sense rom on it?

I've come to the conclusion we most likely won't get anywhere with with trying to port an app over. But the closest I've gotten to the HTC email is Enhanced Email.
I've also contributed some suggestions there to help make it as close to HTC email as it will be. Good Dev there too. Making good progress on updating the app.
I have 7 different email accounts for work and home etc etc...
Its getting really really annoying to have to go into each to check the mail from that account.
Is there anyway check ALL email accounts at once from Combined View?
Seems like a hell of a thing to overlook.
Just noticed i put this in the wrong forum, my fault...Mods please move to correct forum.
Thank you and my apologies .

You might want to look into K-9.
I'm getting annoyed too with checking multiple accounts

Been using k9 for a few days now. Like it. Its good. Kind of a shame that the stock email doesn't do it and we have to download another program for a simple thing like that. The program is a little choppy getting through all my mail, but I have tons of mail I haven't gone through yet.
Hopefully Google will change their mail app to include this feature at a later date.

Cool thing about k9 is that is actually built on top of the code for the stock email app. Improved if you will.

Just like how windows comes with WordPad for word processing but if you need anything more you buy office.
Stock email app works for most people. I have gmail and corp email and I like to keep them separated. My blackberry would combine emails and phone calls and messages and I hated it. I like keeping everything separate.
