Quick question
can I update using a ruu over a custom rom or do I need to flash my stock nandroid before using the ruu?
Thanks in advance

Yes.. you can run the RUU on top of a custom rom, no need to nandroid restore your old stock backup. Most important is the stock recovery been flashed and bootloader re-locked before you run the RUU.
And I normally also flash a stock boot.img first. (some people say no need to do this, but it is no harm doing it).
Cheers for that

i thought you had a nand backup, however that RUU isn't available yet so your only solution is to restore a nand backup as stated above

No i have a nand backup!! I will restore that

that's ok then
First install the stock rom completely, then the stock recovery.
I can flash the stock recovery by using the same procedure to flash the boot image of the backup???

Can i even install roms without flashing boot.img ??
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 4
Thats not my first time flashing roms , isnt flashing boot.img medatory for the rom to even boot
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 4
If you are restoring same or similar rom (same boot.img), you don't have to flash boot.img again

Or maybe HTC made soff available for everyone but we just don't know it

Simple answer ?
ALWAYS flash the boot.img .....done !
I was just wondering if going for a CM11/AOSB Rom on M8, do I have to convert it to GPE first? Or is it just a matter of flashing it in custom recovery?!!!!!
