Look in the development section I remember a post with loads of different RUUs
the ruu will automatically put stock recovery and ROM for you. That will let you update

You get the stock recovery from the OP of this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1975140
Stock ics....my guess you need the 2.17 stock.
Rename the file to recovery.img and flash it
Fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

it will install the system of the 2.17 and cid will be the new one so it doesnt matter ..
correct?
You said you are on stock ? Just flash the recovery and update

ok thanks .. will do
but after the update will i need to re root?
Yes, flash a custom recovery and make a new fresh NANDROID backup. Then root again or flash a new custom rom

i flashed the 2.17.980 recovery but now its not booting and showing a red exclamation traingle .. should i download a nandroid backup of the 2.17 and restore via adb? or did i screw it up somewhere
What is not booting ? The phone OS or the recovery ?

[Q] Unroot HTC one m8 android 5.0.1

Hey guys!
I just rooted my htc a week ago. Unfortunately I now have a black line on my screen, so I need to send it back.
Unfortunately I have no idea on how to unroot it. Can somebody please help me?
I rooted with supersu. (in supersu the unroot option doesn't work)
Is there a special way of how to unroot? Or can I just use this: http://theunlockr.com/2014/06/08/how-to-unroot-the-htc-one-m8-video/ ?
Thanks a lot!
Anybody please?!

if you haven't sent your phone in yet, you can just flash any tmo stock ruu or update firmware, that'll wipe out any modification you did, unless it's S-off.
Thanks! And could you maybe tell me how this works? (I expected rooting to be like jailbreak, but this is harder. Shouldn't have started) thanks
