Hello to all. For about two days I have Wi-Fi slowness problems on my 5X. I'm sure it's a phone problem because, by doing speedtest from my laptop and on Moto E , the speed is very stable and fast, as well as the browsing speed. Instead on my smartphone I can hardly navigate or use Facebook and other apps! Can anyone help me and tell me if it is a software or hardware issue? I reset the phone to 2 times and there's no problem under 4G connection.

Try again with bluetooth enabled and the option to use lollipop dhcp is enabled in developers settings.
Test on other networks and the speed can be normal. Router incompatibilities are common with various devices as there are millions of combinations.
You can try:
-In the phone's advanced WiFi settings try forcing it to 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz instead of auto
-Update router firmware
-Disable ipv4 on the router

Wtf, why with Bluetooth enabled it works better? It's a bug or hardware issue?

Its a known bug where it does not communicate properly with some AP's.
All the ap's I connect to are fine but I need to do it with the WIFI at work. It has something to do with the configuration and can sometimes be solved with a router reboot.
I have it setup to so Bluetooth enables when only connected to that AP and disables it when it disconnects.

And how I can fix this problem? Updating the driver of the router?

Your router should always be on the latest firmware available.
Have you tried enabling Bluetooth to see if it helps?

I'm getting very annoying Wifi disconections all the time, like every 1-2 min my wifi disconnects and reconnects in a while.
I think I tried everything possible:
- Battery manager -> all settings (maximum performance, battery saver..)
- Wifi settings -> "never" sleep, "sleep when screen off", "never sleep when plugged"...
But still wifi disconnects all the time and it is very irritating when browsing.
Is there any fix to this?
P.S. it seems that while talking on skype the connection is active and does not disconnects even for hours!
Any ideas?
I think Defy (at least some) has Wifi issues. My problem is, as soon as I try to download anything (i.e. Market app) all devices connected to my router drop their conenctions, so as my Defy. I found it very annoying.
Sorry, didn't mean to hijack your thread by the way.

Do you have Bluetooth enabled on your Defy and/or other devices? It might interfere with WiFi signal.
Try to use static IP-addresses for the devices attached to your router.
May try disabling 802.11n in the router and/or defy. And try using wpa2-psk if not yet.
Many people (including myself) have solved their wifi issues by updating their sim and I recommend getting a uicc sim. T-Mo asked me to go to one of their wifi hot-spots and see if I still had connection issues. I did. So they gave me a uicc sim and I currently have zero connection problems. But, that's just me.

hehe i know what you mean. I had that issue for so long time.. At the end, solved by these steps:
1) router's firmware was upgraded to the latest version (don't understimate this!)
2) from the router's config page, i assigned a static ip for my Defy
3) i switched the router from N to G mode.
Now it's stable and all works well, no disconnections any more!
PS. Netgear dgn1000
ok then, my "router" is acutally a wifi PCI card that tethers internet using Conectify.me
I do not have bluetooth or any other wireless devices enabled.
I'm using wpa2-psk as well as 802.11g.
What is that uicc sim? I don't think that t-mob UK have that kind of sim
Tried using static/dinamic IP address with no difference
Weird thing is that while on skype call the wifi did not disconnects even for hours.
And if I leave a skype call on background I can surf the net ...but I have to bother someone all the time

Wifi issues - solved - use TKIP rather than AES
I had the same problem.
Changed security settings on wireless N router from AES to TKIP and works fine.
Seems that defy has some sort of problem with AES security.
When I was on 3.4.3-11 based Roms this problem was happening, but when I switched to 3.4.2-155-002 and others my problem was solved. Try barebones, xd1 or jboogie rom's.
try:
the defy CAN´T handle router with WMM + 802.11n standart.
Log in to your router an turn off WMM or switch the wifi from 802.11n to 802.11g

I have D-Link DIR-605L (802.11n) router at home and everything was working fine. Suddenly since past few days, my N3N is not getting connected to wifi router properly. I have to disable and enable wifi on phone 4-5 times atleast and then it connects automatically. On the same router other android, iphone and windoes phones and laptops connects properly to same router.
I thought there is prob with my phone, but the same phone works properly in office. It connects and works with no issues on office wifi.
I have already tried below mentioned troubleshooting steps
- factory reset router and phone both
- tried various security settings (WEP, WPA, WPA2 etc)
- upgrading os on phone and router both
- enable 802.11g mode, mix mode etc.
What could be issue? and any way we can fix this.

I have tried all. Even without any security settings i face this issue.
My phone was with Samsung service center for 4 days and they said there is no WiFi issue at all. They are able to connect to other DLink routers with no issues. I also got my Dlink router checked, and all other devices are able to connect to my Wifi router with no issue... ant understand what could be the issue
Wow.. that's kinda strange..

Yes it is.. am last one month i have been trying many things.... its just all so weird .....
i am also hving same prblm with my note 3 neo..did u get any soln for it? if yes then do let me know.
I'm having problems with WiFi on my 5x. The connection drops intermittently and refuses to reconnect. When I go into the WiFi settings it shows "authentication problem" although the settings have not changed. Sometimes it will reconnect after 10-15 minutes. Rebooting the phone always resolves the problem.
I have both a 2.4ghz and 5ghz access point (dual band router). The phone has problems connecting to both. I have other devices connected to the same access points working fine when the 5x disconnects.
I've also noticed the WiFi connection reporting no internet connection on and off as well, but again other devices are connected just fine.
Is anyone else having similar problems?
My Wi-Fi works flawlessly. That said, I encourage you to update the firmware on your wireless access point/router and see if that resolves the issue. If not, you can try using the legacy DHCP client on your phone by going into Settings, Developer options and turning it on there under Networking.
Good luck.
I'm running openwrt on a tp-link Archer c7. I'll give the legacy DHCP client a try. Thanks.
update

@jeffmhasty , any update? I have the same issue. Unfortunately I have to reboot my Nexus to fix WiFi connection. Tried legacy DHCP client, tried disable IPv6 connection, nothing helps.
I have router with openwrt too.. Thanks for reply.
Legacy DHCP seemed to work for a while, but it ended up in the same state even with it on. I have it off now, and haven't had any problems with WiFi for a few weeks. I played around with some settings in OpenWRT, but I'm not sure that actually helped anything. The only setting I can remember changing for sure is enabling DHCP and DNS -> General -> Authoritative.

@jeffmhasty I found fix from Openwrt developers- it looks like there is/was an issue with Atheros driver in combination with Qualcomm chipset in Nexus 5X, look at here:
https://dev.openwrt.org/changeset/47469
https://dev.openwrt.org/ticket/20854
https://dev.openwrt.org/changeset/47984
I am facing the same issue of WiFi connection dropping. I observed this after turning off the WiFi scanning under the location setting.
Re-enabling the scanning fixed the issue.
Can anybody explain this behavior?
Also I want to turn the WiFi scanning off and still not get a connection drop.
How do i achieve it?
Sounds like same problem I'm having. I have an archer C5 at home and and Linksys E3000 at work that I have problems with. It seems to have only started since the 6.0.1 OTA. My wifi seems to connect fine, but sometimes shows the limited connectivity warning.
I've just started having this problem as well. I agree, it seems like it's started with the recent security patch (was that 6.0.1?). Mine gets stuck saying it's trying to get an IP address, so presumably something in the DHCP aquisition. I have 3 different APs in my house, but only one is responsible for issuing addresses. That is an Asus RT-N66U running Tomato USB.
It had to be the last ota update that's when it started for my ...kicking me off networks I've been on everyday including my home router ....I do not believe the router is the issue at all ....its the software in our phone

My WiFi will connect and then almost immediately disconnect on my home wifi only. Anywhere else, the WiFi works perfectly. I contacted my internet provider and they're sending someone out to "look at it". Before I keep this appointment, I'm reaching out to see if anyone has a fix; I doubt they'll fix it. I recently upgraded my router and modem, this is when the issue started. I've got the same issue on my Nexus 6P. My wife does not have this issue on her Pixel 3, and any other device connected to the WiFi seems to work just fine - this leads me to its a device issue not a router issue. Any help will be appreciated. To reiterate and still it up shortly: my Pixel 2 WiFi works everywhere except home and at home every other device works fine. I'm on the most current Google update stock not rooted.

Are you hiding your SSID or is it broadcasting? What wifi security protocol are you using? Try WPA2 + PSK. Does this happen on both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz frequencies? Which router do you have (make/model)? What does the log say in the router? Usually under admin and (usually) configurable to log wifi connections.

I am using wpa2+psk, it happens on both 2.4 and 5, I have the Spectrum Wave 2 - RAC2V1K Askey (Spectrum's provided router). I posted a screenshot of the recent part of the log because I'll admit, though I am seeing patterns in the log I am not sure how to separate the good from the bad.

This device has been a disappointment after other, does someone here has a solution for this problem?
I can't use my wifi with Bluetooth on, which means no gamepad for games or headset for music and its driving me crazy lol
I can get 50mb/s speed with BT off and it goes down to 0mb/s with BT on
I suppose is a software problem, but its been 4 months without updates from xiaomi, so does any one has a fix for this?
Device is locked and unrooted, wiping connections fix it for 5 seconds, factory reset does nothing
I solved this by buying new router (AC2100). Here soon MIUI update and devs knows this bug, so if they don't gonna fix this, I recommend do as I did. That's the way how I fixed this issue. Gl o/
