HDMI port.
Adapter must use display port protocol (I think). This USB-C to HDMI, USB3.1, and USB-C (charging port in only) works. Found on eBay.

Micro USB accessories.-
For OTG accessories, and some attachments such as cameras, the phone is the USB host.
'Conforming' USB-C to micro adapters (listing the '56k resistor' ) will not work. Tells the phone to take a charge, it is not host.
Look for adapters that are non conforming, better yet are 'OTG' compatible.
One is:
Meenova
USB 3.1 Type-C to MicroUSB 2.0 Female OTG Adapter, Gray, pack of 2
My micro USB thermal camera, 3d camera, and USB host cables work. There are other brands as well.

I'm currently (partially successfully) using the following in an attempt to use an External 1TB Drive as a portable backup solution for travels:
Type C Adapter, RAVPower USB C To A Female OTG Cable, USB-C On The Go Convertor for New MacBook and Other Devices with Type C USB
I can get images onto the phone's internal 128GB card (Lexar Professional 1800x microSDXC 128GB UHS-II W/USB 3.0 Reader Flash Memory Card - LSDMI128CRBNA1800R) via OTG and Card Reader ...I cannot get them off of the internal on to the External 1TB via the OTG cable.

Problem with old HTC M8 Charger
At home I use the charger that came with the phone.
At the office, I was planning to use the HTC charger that came with my old M8, maybe not quite as fast.
But strangely enough, when I do that, the charge light turns on and off every couple of seconds, it wakes the phone, and it doesn't charge.
A Belkin 2.1A charger I had works fine though. Go figure.
I don't think the HTC 10 is compliant with USB-C Power Delivery (Such as the Nexus 6p) do deliver the rapid charging speeds of up to 3A via a USB-C charger and a USB-C to USB-C cable. I remember reading up about it of an article referencing Benson Leung (not the 1st one, but most recent one). He said the LG G5 is compliant with the Power Delivery achieving the 3A max input. But the HTC 10 only achieves 2A.
I can about confirm this because I have 2 USB-C wall chargers, one by Cheotech that gives me around 1600mah-1700mAh, and one by iClever, which gives me the same speeds. My RavPower Turbo Series Powerbank with the USB-C port and the max of 3A output gives me the same 1600-1700mAh speeds of input into the HTC 10 as well.
I've tested a Samsung adaptive fast charger from the s7 and s6 with the OEM cable and a ravpower A to C cable and it shows Rapid Charging when plugged in.

Hi,
I was hoping someone could answer this for me as I can't find an answer anywhere.
I was just wondering whether to buy the Google USB C cable that is stated to transfer at USB 2.0 speeds (480Mbps) or whether to buy a faster USB 3.0 (5Gbps) or 3.1 (10Gbps) cable (A to C).
I've found a few compliant USB C cables including a Belkin USB 3.1 A to C cable that transfers at 10Gbps and was hoping to take advantage of the USB 3.1 ports on my new Z170 based motherboard.
Thanks

I do not believe the port in the Pixel C is USB 3.0. Therefore, it wouldn't be necessary to get a USB 3.1 cable. It should still work, but you wouldn't exceed USB 2.0 speeds, which is probably why Google's cable is only USB 2.0.
Thanks for the response.
Is anyone able to do a quick transfer with a USB 3.0/3.1 based Type C cable to see if it maxes out at USB 2.0 speeds.
It would be much appreciated.

Most tech sites report the Pixel C has USB 3, but the fastest read speed I can get on a USB-C /3.0 flash drive is 27MB/s which leads me to believe even tech sites are confused and don't understand that USB-C does not automatically mean USB 3.
I think it was confirmed by Benson Leung, in the Reddit AMA, it's full host/client USB c spec so it's full speed port. Maybe another way to test would be to mount a USB 3 drive to pixel and storage benchmark it
I thought that the USB 3.1 host and client related only to the ability to charge the Pixel C as well as the ability to charge other devices from the Pixel C and to use the USB port for other devices such as an ethernet adapter.

That's pretty much what I did. A USB 3 USB-C MicroSD flash drive. On my PC it reads at 80MB+, on the Pixel it is 25MB
I'm a bit confused now.
Recently I read a review by Benson Leung on a USB 2.0 A to C cable here http://www.amazon.com/review/R1AF6ZHBZRQFHV/ref=cm_cr_dp_title?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B018HUOMYE&channel=detail-glance&nodeID=2335752011&store=wireless on Amazon and at the end of the review states:
In conclusion, this is a Good cable for your Nexus 6P/5X to use with all of your older USB Type-A chargers, hubs, and PCs. It also works great with Chromebook Pixel 2015 and will work great on USB Type-C spec compliant devices to come! However, it is NOT a SuperSpeed USB 3.1 5gbps cable. Look elsewhere if you are specifically looking for a 5gbps cable for use with MacBook or Pixel C.
Is this implying that the Pixel C is capable of USB 3.0 speeds, but perhaps not at the moment?
Or is it just a typo as a Superspeed USB 3.1 cable should be capable of 10Gbps and not 5Gbps (USB 3.0).
That is interesting. I'd suspect he'd know what the C is. I however, have never gotten more than USB 2 speeds out of it.

Just don't think it fully enabled yet same with HDMI out as well
I have a Micro USB OTG cable and tried to use it with my Type C to Micro USB adapter for connecting a USB flash drive to my Nexus 5x. It fails no matter what I do.
Anyone have a clue to what the problem could be? Both the adapter and my OTG cable works fine separately.

I accidentally bought one that is just an adapter for charging, and had to get a different one that works for OTG. The one I have that works is on Amazon, here.
Not all USB C to micro USB adapter will work as OTG adapter. I have two adapters which can charge/data but not OTG.
I bought something like this. Looks like usb 3.0 (more pins) and its working fine.

I tried to do the same just as a test, and it also did not work. My usb c otg cable works fine tho.
This is BC Master USB Type-C to HDMI Female Adapter is the "Swiss army" adapter because of all it does for me. I own a Google ChromeBook Pixel and USB ports are at a minimum plus im constantly streaming to the TV so this is the perfect solution for me as it fixes 3 of my issues with the Pixel. I also just ordered a Motorola z force which uses USB TYPE-C so I will be also using this adapter on that device and one feature that puts this adapter ahead of others is the PD port which I know I will be using with Moto Z to be able to charge the phone while I am using it while using the adapter. The BC Master USB Type-C to HDMI Female Adapter has 4 USB 3.0 ports for SuperSpeed data transferring of up to 5 Gbps and downward compatible with USB 2.0/1.1 specifications and supports high resolution up to 4K . Another feature I dont see on other units I compared this to was it also supports high definition audio including SACD, DVD-Audio which I liked for gaming. This adapter is Bus-Powered, so no additional power adapter needed and supports hot swapping & plug-and-play and for safety has a built-in surge protector incorporated to safeguard your USB devices. Overall im very happy after using this for over a month and never thought I would use it as much as I do but it really comes in handy in some way everyday. Its priced at $35.59 HERE and comes with a 24 months warranty.

I had some initial difficulty getting a micro usb OTG cable working, I ended up testing a few and thought I would share in case it saves anyone else some time or money.
if anyone else has adapters they've tried feel free to list them
I actually haven't tried a straight USB type C OTG cable yet, all have been micro USB OTG units with a micro USB to type C converter since I already had so many lying around.
First off I should mention not all micro usb to USB type C converters support OTG.
this Meenova one does and works with the oneplus 3t: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B018G6IK7E/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
with that converter pretty much any OTG adapter will work.
Charging also works.
This micro USB OTG adaptor is nice because its so low profile.
I tested it with a flash drive and it works fine with the Meenova adapter listed above.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0196FG4DG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
This Samsung adapter also works well with the Meenova adapter, it has quite a few features which I tested on the Oneplus 3t, its expensive though so unless you have a Samsung tablet as well its not likely to be worth it for most people:
built in features:
two USB ports
Ethernet port
Charging port for simultaneous charging and OTG
On the Oneplus 3t both charging and OTG work fine but not at the same time.
whichever you plug in first is what it will use until you unplug and re-plug in the adapter.
That being said my understanding is that this is likely just a kernel limitation, it was the same way on the nexus 7 and a custom kernel enabled the simultaneous charging.
I'm not sure how useful that would be on a phone but I thought I would mention it.
Both USB ports work simultaneously, I connected two flash drives and both were picked up by the phone right away.
I wasn't able to get the Ethernet port working, or at least there was no indicator that it was working (My samsung tablet gives a notification that the Ethernet is plugged in but Samsung may have added that, I'm not sure) I'll play with it some more later.
Adaptor link: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00J2N0GB4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
and lastly I tried this micro USB to type c adapter and charging works but OTG does not:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0191FRCAA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Thanks for your post about OTG adapters. Do you have any updates on this issue? I'm looking for possible adapters but cannot find any.
The Meenova adapter is not available in Europe and also seems not to be available from Amazon.com anymore. I can also disadvise from Anker USB adapter because it doesn't work.
What I'm looking for is an USB typ-C to microUSB adapter for audio output via USB.
Anker adapter supports dash charge (works with oppo vooc power bank). I am trying OTG now, but I have some cheap OTG dongle (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/5pc...G-adapter-for-HTC-for-Samsung/1734417126.html) and I am not sure if it works at all Anyway OTG via Anker is not working for me at this moment.

Thanks! Though it's USB type B. I need micro USB.
In case anyone was unaware....Came across a video on YouTube and found out that one of the adapters that came with the phone, USB-C to USB Female-which was part of the SmartSwitch, turn out that it is an OTG adapter.
You can use it to connect thumb drive, usb harddrive, usb hub, keyboard and mouse...It even lets you charge another device from your phone.
The microUSB adapter is just that an adapter not OTG ....I did find a 2 pack OTG adapter for USB-C to microUSB on amazon for $7 and have verified they work too. USB 3.1 Type-C to MicroUSB 2.0 Female OTG Adapter, Gray, pack of 2, for Google Pixel/Pixel XL, Nexus 5X/6P, LG G5, Moto Z, HTC m10 & others
I think this is detailed as an OTG adapter within the owners manual anyway
