Vodafone firmware update

Just received an OTA firmware update for my SIM free Desire to version 1.19.161.5 does anyone have a changelog for this update?

I just received this OTA-update as well ... and also hesitant to install it right away without knowing anything about the content.

It says that it contains an update for the camera.

Odd, i'm on a sim free and use 2 different sims in mine (orange and Vodafone) and there is no update showing for mine. I'm still on the 1.15.405.4

Same here...nothing.... anyone? anyone? Bueller?

i got the update... dont know what the cool feature is... but the phone still works and i got softwarenumber 1.19.161.5

Strange normally updates are announced (or leaked ) I'm on the vodafone network to, but got it from a store called belcompany, and you?

Nothing for me either...

do you need to have 3G coverage? I tried enabling wifi and attempted check for system update and got nothing..I am on Voda UK with an unlocked phone..hmm

I read on another forum that the updates get staggered so not to worry if yours shows up to date. Also on another forum it says facebook bug is fixed and the data connection issues is also fixed that effected many people.

Mine updated yesterday but I had to check manually for it.

Seems to be an vodafone branded update only, on tweakers.net only people with branded phones had the update.

Got it the other day, posted a link in the generic ROMs thread if anyone wants it

I got my Desire from Vodafone. If you got yours from Belcompany, you have an unbranded Desire which means that you won't get this OTA-update. This OTA-update will only be available for Vodafone-branded Desires.

Got this update ota lastnight. Only thing I've noticed is they've fixed the scrolling and inertia lag at the bottom of lists

Sorry, I only read it after I posted my previous reply.
Fun to see that you live in Weert, my birth town.
I'm still not sure whether I will update my Desire ... still waiting for someone to clarify whether this update will ruin my rooting possibilities.

i installed it somedays ago. i noticed that my battery is drainning faster... but i got more free ram and memory, also the sound volume is higher!
i had to check manually for the update

so they wont allow users who opt out of a data plan and or dont have wifi to update?

RUUs are leaked and shouldn't normally be open to the public. If they were they'd be on HTCs website (like with their WinMo RUUs)

Guess you cant always trust a telus rep, they told me that the update would be downbloadable from a pc if i didnt have internet access for my desire. (ive been prodding tech support for 2 weeks now trying to get info on when the update is)

I don't see the point in posting the ROM. What would be needed in it that we don't already have or use? Plus if I wanted to do the update that would mean downgrading back to 2.1 and then upgrading.

He said he is interested in some config files, no idea what for. Can you even post just a rom from your phone? Wouldn't you need to extract it from the RUU?
The RUU would be nice though, I'd like to know what radio Telus think we should be running. Obviously it would also be good to flash the phone in a way that masks the modifications made if we need to return it.

Got bored, poked around. I have a feeling telus will offer the RUU on HTC.com just like other desire providers.

I don't see any OTA update available for now on my desire...
It was due to mid-October... and i'm tired to wait for them.
Does anyone got it ?

no. they pulled it at around 11am this morning. if you go back to the site, it is back to saying "will be updated in October"

My Desire is on Rogers, will it still be possible to get the OTA update ?

I got mine downloaded and installed yesterday. All is running smooth

I am on Fido and I got an update notification on my HTC Desire (I had 3G on, and Wifi off). I'm downloading the update (OTA_Bravo_Froyo_TELUS_WWE_2.25.661.2-1.29.661.1_R_release_Pf7sjzjrgcmpsve12.zip) as I'm typing this...it's a 90.5MB download...so I switched to Wifi before proceeding with download.
I'll update later how it goes.

Official Froyo ROM 2.2.2 (Australia Optus)

Been using this ROM since yesterday(received via OTA). Rooted, removed bloats, changed carrier boot animation and been tweaking stuffs, and it's pretty much stable and fast. The only problem I encountered so far was the constant drop of wi-fi connection but managed to fix it by changing my router settings to TKIP encryption. Still observing if the problem is gone for good.

You can flash this if you're on another froyo rom. I'm using the latest leaked(3.4.2-177_Nordic) prior to this rom.
Still no HD(720p) recording.
Tested no more wifi disconnect, TKIP encryption solved the issue.
Will share the nandroid tomorrow. Good night.

If you're another froyo rom such as nordic you can restore the nandroid directly(via custom recovery; extract the zip file and transfer to sdcard)
All carrier bloats removed including:
Optus App Store, Games, Navi, Music, TV
Revert to stock bootanimation without the carrier logo.
Removed Optus bookmarks and homepage.
Added cyanogen APN list(since the rom defaults to Optus APN which is unusable in other country)

@JakDac OTA stands for over the air, this is the system that most carriers use to push updates to their customers' handsets.
No, this ROM will not work for either of the tablets, as the ROM is for the Defy and will only work with a defy.

Same here mate, i am a little confused by that as i thought it would have been the easiest version to roll out and i mean for all regions not just the UK.

Is it possible to downgrade from this version?

After flashing this rom you could back to any froyo rom(like the Nordic version) but not eclair.

assuming you're still on eclair you could flash the Australia Optus ROM from this site http://and-developers.com/sbf:defy and then manually update to froyo(settings>about phone>check for updates)

definitely not, the rom is only motorola defy.

Hi folks,
Apologies in advance for any dumb questions.
Got my 1st Adroid phone, the Defy last Thursday. Spent the weekend getting it up and running and everything was perfect -fast, responsive, no wi-fi issues... all good.
Applied the suggested system update (34.145.12.MB525.Optus.en.AU) yesterday morning and since then have been having probs with very slow GUI response - even worse if wi-fi is activated....
Any suggestions?
I don't mind rolling back - but don't actually know how.... any links/pointers?

Not sure how to make it faster, i used that rom for a while and didn't have any problems, maybe try a factory reset.
if you want to downgrade to your stock rom there is a guide on this site forum.lowyat.net/topic/1557573 under Fixed SBF for Downgrade-ability from Undowngrade-ability but you need a back up a 2.51 rom and once you get it to a 2.51 rom then you can restore it back to your stock rom.

WiFi&4glte icons same time?

Alright,I've tried everything. First I downgrade to 2.22.531.6 change my cid to T-Mobile cid and took OTA update. It's still showing WiFi and 4g icons at the same time? Then I try to flash the new RUU that HTC just release 3.32.531.2 and still showing the same thing.I try to reflash 4.4.3 backup and it's fine.
Have you guys have the same problems as I do? Or its HTC fault?
If you don't have this problem, then please go into your /system and copy the entire framework folder,just zip it and upload it.

Yeah I have the same problem, I've seen quite alot about this in other threads..

My icons both come on for a while, but then after some time, and wifi calling comes online, 4g LTE goes away.

I can't guarantee this will work as I haven't had a chance to update yet but try disabling or uninstalling t mobile my account app. Previous versions of the app have had the issue of locking in data. Again haven't tested this myself because I haven't updated yet but worth a shot.

I too have been getting it as well, but I've been watching the data transfer little arrows and it just seems the LTE is just sticking around for the fun of it, not actually transferring any data.

Same here, what I did is added new Apn called T-Mobile US and same old settings. Seems to work without getting data lost. But can't solve WiFi and 4glte at the same time.

Xposed framework download it then in "download" section find sense 6 percentage battery and Sense 6 toolbox. Install it, then go back into Xposed click on "module" click on the box which module you want and restart phone.

Isn't the battery percentage already in the Sense 6 toolbox? I don't think you need to download/install another module for that...

Has anyone found a solution to this problem? I'm considering upgrading from 1.57 but this sounds like an annoying thing to deal with.

Noticed that it goes away when wifi calling is active...

Security patch is from June. The only bloated thing is boot animation and lockscreen wallpaper. Wi-Fi Calling toggle has been added and that's about it.

did you choose upgrade or refurbish? did you do hard reset afterwards and before?

İ think that it's better than 20h about fast and smooth right now I refurbished and didn't need to do hard reset just boot animation wallpaper is from p4 but the other things works perfect video call is still not works ?

I use this phone in Turkey. I flashed it via LGUP (refurbish) and now my 3g only works H. Before, it was H+ all the time, i moved around the city but couldn't have H+ signal. before my internet speed was over 20 Mbps, now it is aprx 6-7 Mbps. I deleted apn settings, and add them again, soft reset many times, otu and in simcard, but still nothing worked. do you know what i can do?

Go back to H or a previous KDZ. These are only minor updates.

A few questions for those who used/are using this.
Is Battery life better/worse than v20h??
If worse, I'ma just stick to the best kdz there is right now (v20h)
How about performance?? I heard that it is slightly better than v20h, but is that true?
Well performance less matters to me in this case, battery life is more important to me on this phone.
