hey folks. sorry i couldn't find anything on pop ups about. so yesterday my phone is fine. i only did 1 thing last night before bed. i removed an account from my gmail since i had it setup under my htc mail app. this morning i get up and get my phone going. as soon as i open something, bam, an almost full screen pop up with an orange border and large x in the upper right corner. naturally im not ? thinking about it and just close it. for hours now the pop up keeps coming back. randomly during opening apps or typing this out. i ran antivirus, malware, tried uninstalling a couple things it could of been. seems that clean master is uninstalled but there is a com. cmguard something still in memory. touchpal keyboard had a similar thing before but added an option to disable in an update. now i cant figure out what is causing this. any help is appreciated.
EDIT: so after digging around and running ad detector and other stuff i have found the culprit to be PBA bowling game. there must have been an update or something i didn't notice but afyer uninstalling my problem has disappeared.

I have been trying for months now to get it to open by tapping on the widget to access the stop watch and alarms, but it does nothing. I've tried sever restarts and on charge and not, nothing makes the widget respond and open the clock app. I'm just wondering if its a known issue with the stock Verizon 2.3.4 Rom or if the fact that the phone keeps loosing track of the battery level and state is a sign that the phones dieing on me?
Thanks for any advice or insight.

This is an issue that has been going on pretty much since the Dinc2 became available.
Rooted, it's an easy fix, just go into Tibackup, and go to the clock app, and unfreeze it.
Unrooted, you will need to do a factory reset. This will fix it, but for how long, may be a week, may be more. Before I rooted, I did a factory reset, the clock lasted all of about two hours before it "froze" back up again.
Have you had any other apps go weird yet? Usually Gmail and the calender will disappear as well...
Currently the freaking power manager has been messing up so bad I had to grab a battery widget just to track my battery level since the icon up top is constantly going into "unknown" state. I've been teetering on that root/stock point for months due to slacker and amazon mp3, and most if all the gtalk not having video in my 2.3.4 Rom update. Would be nice to do...maybe I will tonight.

Just had a software update today and suddenly the clock is unfrozzen again. I don't know how long it will last this time but its usable now!

Hi guys, this problem just started to occur. I heard a notification sound from my phone which should have been the email tone but I was busy so i didn't check it. I noticed the sound was a little cut off at the end though. Then almost immediately afterwards, I got the sound for a new SMS. Then I checked my phone but I couldn't see any emails from before although there was a new SMS. When I tried to open the message, it would go into the Messaging app but then it would get stuck on a loading screen when I try to actually enter the message. When I go back to the main messaging screen, I can still see all my past messages, but each time I try to go into one, it'd get stuck on the loading screen. Eventually after maybe 3 minutes it finally went into the newest message i got, but when i tried to send a reply it would act like nothing's happened. The message i typed just disappeared. When I went back to the main messaging screen, I was able to see my message in the previews, but when i go back into that conversation, it would be stuck on the loading screen and now nothing is loading. This is really annoying. I haven't really used my phone in the last 6 hours and before that everything worked perfectly.
On another note, I'm noticing that during the night, my phone uses up about 30% of the battery just on idle. I have wi-fi turned on but is this normal? I only slept for 6 hours...by the way, the battery charging all seemed normal before but now I just plugged in my phone about 1.5 hours ago and it's only increased by about 3 percent...
My phone is not rooted and has been updated recently to the latest version. I also have Lookout Security installed. Any help would really be appreciated!
Update: I just noticed that my phone was blinking red and green one after another. After checking it seems to indicated that it's because it is overheating so i've now disconnected the charger and turned it off. But i can't think why it would be overheating. It's placed on a wooden table away from sunlight and any heat sources and like i mentioned earlier, I haven't really touched it in the last 6 hours so I was definitely not using anything intensive.
Did restarting fix the messaging problem ?
What apps have the highest % for battery use ?
Well, your phone probably was doing something intensive.
Maybe your antivirus was upset by the email or message.
@PhoenixFx: Yeah i did restart the phone which didn't help. I even turned the phone off for 30 minutes which cooled it down but as soon as i turned it back on, it started to get hot again. Whilst it was turned off i had it charging and then when it came back on i noticed the battery percentage increased much more so the battery was definitely fine. The process which used the most power was Viber which was at 9%, there were a couple of other processes but they were all under 5%. I even uninstalled Viber which didn't help. Looking at all the processes that were running, I couldn't see anything that was abnormal.

That could be but I don't see why it would. The message was just a regular text message.
Anyways, I have now done a factory reset and it seems to be fine again. But if anyone has ever come across this or know the solution, please let us know so if it happens again, I'll know what to do and it would also help others who experiences the same thing. By the way, how much SHOULD the battery drain overnight with the wifi turned on?
You may have gotten a virus. I got a gmail virus that wiped a lot of my emails and wouldnt let me receive. I know this is about messaging but they are made by google so it is a possibility. I suggest a full restore and to run a virus scan with one of the play store's antiviruses.

I had the same problem with the messages. They wouldn't open or they would take a lifetime to load and open. Resetting and **** wouldnt work so I did a re-install of my ROM, wouldnt work, so I did factory wipe and started fresh. So far so good.

Yeah I'm not having any issues so far. Of course, it could've been a virus but I scanned my phone regularly with Lookout and also when it happened. Very weird. Anyways, if it happens again, I'll post back. Certainly hope not, this was the second time in a month I had to do a factory reset (last time was when I updated to Sense 4.1 and for some reason it wiped my phone and didn't even do the update. I had to make it download the update again for it to install...)
Ok, it's just happened again. First i heard the notification sound for an email, but then when i turned on the screen, i couldn't see any notifications. Now when i go into my SMS, they take forever (literally) to load. This is really getting pathetic. The amount of problems i've had with this phone, not to mention the constant "loading" screen when i press the home key. FFS, i never had this many problems with my old iPhone 3GS.
Update: I've just done a scan with AVG and Lookout and both turned up nothing. Most likely that this is not a virus related issue then.
this is happening on the stock 2.17 firmware also
no notifications, if you look in the messaging app, new messages are there
i cant understand how htc cant fix this? its been present from 1.28 fw

a gmail virus? care to explain a bit more, like the name of it etc? i did have some problems where it wouldn't sync with the latest version but is now working ok..
If you text a hell of a lot like I do then the problem is the phone is trying to load all of the message threads as fast as possible. Which uses a **** ton of your RAM, hence the 3 minute wait. I current have the HTC one x+ but the phones are basically the same. Here's what i did for the same exact issues.
For constant overheating:
1.Let your phone die.
2.Put your phone in your freezer and let it sit for a few minutes until its pretty cold.
3.Fully charge your phone
4.If you havnt already done so, download the latest update for your phone
5.Turn on and keep the battery saver option on. You do not have to keep the brightness low though
For messaging issues:
Go in your messages and delete all of your old threads to people whom you no longer converse with.
Anyone have this problem ? Pulled my phone out of my pocket trying to respond a text msg . When I went to the lockscreen it was stuck and wouldn't respond to my swipe . Held the power button down to bring up the power menu. It wouldn't let me tap the restart button . Battery pull once n start , same thing at lock screen . Did it a second time finally let me swipe to open the phone . Freaking annoyed with this !

Mine does the same thing....
It is very annoying I dont know what to do i have tried different launchers, have used watch dog and monitored apps and nothing seems to work. Watch dog did alert me to some apps that i removed, but the problem persists.
I have a similar issue. However my message app also takes like 15 seconds to start.
If i use the task switcher button, then kill all aps, start messaging, it takes a while for it to actually open.
Now if the app is already started. And i switch back to it, either by pressi g the icon again or by the task switcher then it it responds instantly like it should.
I did not have this problem on the orig firmware and i did not have this problem initially on nk3 after updating. It just startrd happening about a week ago. Clearing messages did nothing. Clearing apps cache did nothing, claering apps data did nothing. Preforming a hard reset via recovery didnt even help with the issue for me.
Anyway, back on track. I have experienced what you are experiencing. Because i know when my txt msg app is "hung" for a few seconds. It literally causes the entire phone to become unresponsive until the app loads. Could this be what you are experiencing also?

I got the same thing happening. When I wake the screen, the screen goes dim, and there is no response. The phone just hangs. I have to pull the battery. The phone gets laggy from time to time and I have to reboot. It's like the ram is bogging the phone. I didn't have this problem before I updated to the the new update. Any ideas for a fix. Thanks in advanced.

Same here, a reboot fixes it for a short time but it goes back to lagging on the home screen. I used to use the FPscanner until it got so annoying, I thought that was the culprit. I put the lockscreen on swipe unlock and sure enough same lag and glitch. I think it has something to do with the apps open in the background. Also noticed connecting to wifi makes the phone stutter for a sec, so maybe the combo of unlocking the phone with a lot of apps running in back and connecting to wifi? IDK but this phone should def. not have this issue!
Hi guys,
I did a search but could not find anything like this. I've had my Moto 360 for a few days now, and while I am on the fence about it (might give the G Watch R) a try, for now I am sticking with it. Suddenly however, on my android wear app, options such as checking the watch storage and battery have disappeared from the mobile app. I have tried rebooting etc.., and still nothing. Any ideas?
You did click on the settings icon (small gear in the top right corner), right?
Sent from my LG-ls990 using XDA Free mobile app
yes i did . i got the settings to reappear. I literally had to uninstall anything wear related, and reboot both devices and relink them. I'm a noob though and can't figure out how to delete this thread though.
This started a few days ago and it only happens in the morning and at night, but suddenly a commercial or a few seconds of a commercial - like you'd see embedded in a web page - starts blaring out of my phone. It only happens once or twice within a few hours, but it's annoying. Thing is, I have nothing in recents panel, so no apps running and I haven't installed any apps in a few months. What's the best way to find out what could be sending push notifications or whatever I need to do to stop this.

I'd suggest using Malewarebytes (or similar) from the play store then since you have no idea what app is causing it. It's usually apps that are the number one culprit. If you're using a browser to go on Facebook or whatever that could also be the problem.
There is notification management in settings. I shut allot of the apps ability to notify.
As a side note: Adguard
