EDIT:This thread started as just an info about dual-sim cards adapter. Since then, the thread evolved into a guide. New info was giving to me so I updated again. I don't pretend to know everything and I welcome new infos that can help the community. I simply know a way to use a dual-sim adapter combine with call forwarding to make use of 2 sim cards on the phone simultaniously.
If it's a good idea to use it or not depends on your need, I'm just saying it is possible.
WARNING: Some extra fees might apply depending on your carrier and or monthly plan.
Hi guys, it seems nobody is talking about having dual-Sim card on their S3. Why? Don't you find it useful to have 2 Sim card on one phone? On my part I have to travel a lot and having 2 Sim cards is a big plus. Also I imagine people with business might like to have a business AND a private number on the same phone.
Here are the adaptors that I found.
(I'm not putting any links coz I don't want to look like I'm selling the thing, so you will have to Google it.)
MagicSim for SGS3
This one is made for the S3 and come in cut or uncut version.
Q-Sim for iPhone 4
They are selling it exclusively for the iPhone 4 but works flawlessly (even better coz S3 doesn't need the back cover) on the SGS3.
I'm using Q-Sim because MagicSim was very hard to find here in China.
What you need:
Call forwading available from network.
Phone SGS3
Dual-Sim adapter
2 sim cards
GUIDE
1-)Install your adapter with your 2 Sim cards.
2-)reboot the phone and go to Q-Sim or Sim-Toolkit (depending on what adapter you have)
3-)Switch to SIM2
4-)Go to your phone's DIALER->CALL SETTINGS->FORWARDING->VOICE CALL->FORWARD WHEN UNREACHABLE and enter your Sim1 phone number.
5-)Switch back to Sim1
This way you will receive all the calls from people calling you on your sim2(coz sim2 will be unreachable) on your sim1. So you really have 2 receiving numbers.
You could use 2 sim cards and call forwarding without the dual-sim adapter. What the dual-sim adapter allows you do, is to easily turn on/off the call forwarding without having to insert your sim2 manually and turn off/reboot your phone everytime.

Yes
how can it handle two sims at a time,.... it has only one gsm antenna, so you can´t be logged in with two sims.....
is there any pic or vid for this????

You're right it cannot be logged to 2 sim at the time. But using the call forwarding it redirect the sim2 to the sim1. So when people are calling your sim2 number, the phone forward the call to the sim1 number(the one you are actually using). This is done by the network. When you set a call forwarding on your phone, the phone send a request to the network. then the network redirect the call to the number you chose. So by choosing FORWARD WHEN UNREACHABLE in your DIALER->CALL SETTING-> FORWARDING section, when your sim2 will be unreachable(the sim2 will never be reachable since it cannot be logged to 2 sims at the same time) the call will be forwarded to sim1. Result you can use 2 sims at the same time.
You are all getting mixed up, this dual sim card, allows you to use one sim at a time, once the adapter is inserted, a sim menu pop and icon gets loaded to the phone for setup, you can set the sim to auto switch between the two at a time interval, or you can switch with a boot up or, for fast boot to switch cards is enable flight mode on and off.
it's much faster than switching the phone off and removing the battery and switching cards.
depending on the version, the newest one supports hsdpa+, but i dont think lte is supported yet.

magic sim are available in china.

for dual network and calls on standby, you can use the gmate, works with all android and iphone, even allows you to make calls using ipad and ipod.
there is another unit, not too sure the brand, but allows 3 networks standby at once.

Read the update guide mate, looks like you are te one who is mixed up.
This guide is to use 2 phone numbers at the same time, it has nothing to do with hsdpa ot LTE or call on standby

the info that i have stated is correct, these adapter only allows easy switching between sims without having to remove the sim cards from the phone. but what happens if you dont have call forwarding, you can't perform what you have stated.
and yes it does relate to hspa+ or lte, these adapter are available in many versions, some does not support 3g etc.

Yes I know they are available in different version but this is not what I explain here. I only put up a simple guide to be able to use 2 sim cards at the same time. And to my knowledge all SGS3(and most smart phones actually) have call forwarding unless you flashed a very very reduced ROM.

call forwarding is a network feature, all phone has the function to execute it, but if you haven't applied for the feature or it isn't bundled with your plan, you cannot forward any calls.

Humm I forgot how people in western countries are oppressed by network carrier. I been living in China for 10 years now and here it's much more free.
Anyway if it is something you really need or you think it's worth paying extra, now you know how to do it. I will update this info in my guide. Thanks

What is wrong with you? The guy is giving us a great tip and your answer is, "what happens if you dont have call forwarding??? Well of course you need call forwarding to apply but it doesn't make the guide less interesting. Same thing apply to any guide. Do you hear people say "Oh what happens if my phone is not root, you can't perform this mod."

Well I felt people were confused so I updated to a guide.
Anyway case close. Thanks to Kms108 to help me make the info more accurate and ending up in a guide and thanks to 1droid4u to try to "protect" me lol.

Just want to point out here that call forwarding is chargeable.
meaning, if you are forwarding the call from sim2 to sim1, then the usual outgoing call rates will be applicable on sim2 for the duration of the call.
I don't know how it is in China, but this is how it works here in India.

This is the first time i heard about this, i though the charges or minutes deduction will be sim 1, would sim 1 be charged for calls then.
thanks.
Huh... i used call forwarding a while ago and the process was... different.
For once, you didn't need to have any dual sim adapter of any kind. Pop in you simcard2 on any phone and enable call forward when unavailable to any number you want (your simcard1's number, i'm guessing). It's a setting saved on your operator. Pop out your sim2 and in goes your sim1. You actually never need to have your sim2 on any phone, your network will redirect your calls to your sim1 automatically. This feature existed since i can remember.
Now, the reason why this isn't a very known feature is because it has a down side: all forward calls will be treated as being made from your sim2 to your sim1, so your sim2 will be charged for every forward call. I, for one, can't have that. I'd rather have 2 phones on me than having that extra charge. Well, that's where i live anyway. I guess other operators can behave differently.
Not sure what that magicsim does, but if you're going to use callforward you don't really need an adapter. Would gladly have 2 sims on my S3 though.
I've also seen on that website you posted the unlocking devices you insert in your sim slot between your card and your phone. I used this too a few years back, i'd say it worked about 50% of the times. The times it didn't work it would just hang the phone and the battery had to be removed, regardless of what phone was used. If the magicsim is anywhere the same it's not worth it.

You are right, you could do this without the dual-sim adapter. What the dual-sim adapter allow you is to quickly switch to your sim2 to make a call that you know came from your sim2(ie: business vs private).
Also with the dual-sim you can easily turn on/off the call forwarding without have to manually insert the sim2 everytime.(ie: someone using business/private sims could just turn off the call forwarding when not in business hours and only use the private number)
I don't know how all carriers are working but I know that a lot of plans include free incoming calls(sometimes limited by hours/weekend etc..) so the active sim doesn't get charge because for this sim it is just a normal incoming calls.
Hi together,
i m in germany and want to buy the new galaxy note 2 dual sim.
Can you privide me some alternatives?

I'm running mine with magicsim dual sim adapter. It works fine and fits inside the battery case reasonably well. It will not provide simultaeneous standby ( dual standby ) it's either one sim or the other, but they are both 3g as opposed to many solutions where only one of the sims will have 3g. I have call and sms divert set up on each sim to divert to the other sim, so whichever sim is active, I never miss calls or txt messages, it was £25 well spent, hope this helps
There's already a thread about the N7102... might be worth your while spending some time reading it to save covering the same ground in a new thread

Hello there, I am very interested in a Note2 dual Sim but the present Chinese Samsung Note 2 seems to slightly inferior in the connectivity and other e.g. google aspects. I was looking at your Magic Sim dual adapter but have not tried it. Did you have it in your Note1 or Note2? a cut or non cut version? I am very worried of cutting the Sims and squash everything into a tight space. I assume there is no problem in clipping the back of phone on even with a bulge, if you have a non cut version? I hope to use one Sim in UK-vodafone for phone and data , and the other -3- in HongKong mainly for my internet access for my frequent visist there. Thanks. Carl

Pardon me, but how did you manage to divert sms?
Greetings.
It seems I'm facing a weird problem here.
To begin with, I live in Europe and I've just bought a Verizon M8.
After boot, a pop up reads that this sim card is not from Verizon.
Although, my sim card CAN receive calls and messages (there is also the app from my carrier services) I cannot make any calls.
What happens is that when I'm trying to dial a number, +1 appears in front of the phone number and call is dropped.
+1 is the phone code for the US.
Well, I don't want this.
I thought every single Verizon 4G phone was carrier unlocked out-of-the-box.
To be honest, I know it, because there is some kind of legislation forcing Verizon to sell their 4G phones unlocked.
Could anyone please help me?
What should I do?
Flash another firmware? And which one?

for the first issue of prefix:
Go to Settings>Call>Assisted Dialling. - Here select your country in "current country"& "reference country"
If that does not work, turn off assisted dialling itself
Member Dodge DeBoulet's suggested this already and worked.
Thanks anyway, man. Good to know there is help when it's needed.
Hi guys
i want to buy " HTC Desire 816 "
but i want to ask
dose the 1 Sim version get Different from the Dual Sim Version
i mean dose the Dual Sim version get Freezes like the Samsung Dual Sim phones ?
or the hardware get changes from the two versions
or its hard to find the Solving problems for the Dual Sim Version because the dual Sim is not very famous
In general which version is the best to buy?
thanks all
There exactly the same except the dual sim has two sim cards, nothing else is changed.
However single sim has NFC and dual sim does not, so if thats a big deal for you stick with single sim.
Also, single sim supports LTE but dual sim supports only upto 3G, and only in one of its slots.
however, I've had no problem regarding Mods and Roms for my Dual Sim 816, and it's the best dual sim phone I've had as I haven't had any network and antenna problems with it.
thank you guys
i asked this question because in Samsung devices the Dual Sim Version freezes a lot
and i hadn't use HTC Devices ever
i think i will take the Dual Sim version
because my country doesn't support the LTE by the way
and i don't use the NFC already
but i want to ask some other questions
winch version is more famous ?
dose the devices has notification LED ?
and what do you think is the Negatives of the device ?
thanks all

If you don't NEED two SIMs, go with the single SIM. Simply because it does have the extra features just in case.
There both just as "famous" and they bith have a notification light.

and i want to see if that Happen in the HTC also
cheer up man
ive never had a dual sim phone before so how does it all work i know its stand by but i dont even know what that means so where can i find out what does what n when ?
Once you have both SIMs inserted on the phone, the phone will let you decide which SIM is going to be the data/3G/4G sim. Therefore, the other SIM will only stay in 2G (calls and SMS only). You can change whichever SIM is going to be the data/3G/4G sim at anytime, but the other will always stay on 2G only.
Hope I was clear enough.
thanks that was one of the most clear pieces advice ive had just one more thing can i have different ring tones for each sim ?

You are absolutely welcome.
Depending on the phone (actually, on the ROM) yes, you can. On the P7000 you could, so my guess is that on the P8000 you can have different ringtones per sim as well (I still have not received my P8000 )
Best regards.
your thanked again thats what i needed to know again and like you am still waiting for mine too ive waited 4 weeks now and been told from them its goin to be yet another 4 weeks
ive just got me new phone today and still can not workout how to do separate ring tones for the 2 sim cards any help would be very helpful
Can you use 4G on SIM 1 and 3G on SIM 2? I ask because I use two 3/4G Sims, nether work in 2G.
that not what i as asking i wanted to know if and how i can have one ring tone for sim1 and another ring tone for sim2

hi everyone ive found out how to do this its with an app from the play store so with this in mind i think it sould be made a sticky cos thers going to be lots of people like me that has never had a dual Sim phone before
so look for dual sim ring tone in the play store and you will get a few to pick for in loaded the first one on the list its works a treat
