I'm also interested in this answer. The only reason I haven't updated to (any ART) rom is because I'm unsure if I can just restore a Dalvik backup without issues. The only way I would attempt is with TWRP.

i tried doing by Flash tool and it gives error like 0000008

bring up the post!

Curious as well. I'd like to get root.

Windows user not sure how to do it on Mac/Linux
by MM to KK I assume you want to take the LG G3 D851 from android 6.x down to 4.x
here goes...
----
http://lgg3root.com/lg-g3-stock-factory-firmware/
http://lgg3root.com/lg-g3-root/how-to-unrootunbrick-lg-g3/
use the LG Flash tool plus the two files, follow instructions on that second link step by step.
LGD851_20140611_LGFLASHv160.dll
LGD851AT-01-V10c-310-260-JUN-20-2014+0.tot
That takes you back to the 4.x kitkat stock ROM, not rooted or anything.
----------------
To go north from there back towards Lollipop or MM you can at this point use
http://www.download3k.com/Install-LG-Mobile-Support-Tool.html
B2CAppSetup.exe
Install it, will put an icon on your desktop, plug in your phone, open the app.
It's pretty much automatic, it updates the ROM from KK to Lolli, then if you hit "OK" it will update from Lolli to MM
- I just got both of these steps to work in the last 24 hours.
I'm still trying to find a valid "Root" method that doesn't ask me to install a funky ROM.

I went from a KK stock-rooted(TWRP 3.0) rom to the MM 6.0 Rom, realized I didn't really want to set everything up again, restored my KK backup. Only problem was I had to reflash the modem. That was a couple of days ago and the modem was the only issue.
I'm unsure about flashing a new/clean KK rom over a MM rom though.
KK Modem (D85110r) - https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95832962473396848

I think I missed a step, in KitKat this phone needs a special command thrown at it so the memory cards will be read/write.
On the play store SDFix: KitKat Writeable MicroSD
I think that might be what I was missing last weekend. My phone is currently on MM but I can't root it with any method other than Kingroot and Kingroot is Bad News.

Yes. It's possible!.

[Q] Downgrading to KK ROM - Three UK

Hi,
First time poster, long time trawler... thanks for all your info over the years.
I have a specific question about downgrading to KK from L on my branded Three Mobile UK.
I had rooted on KK and was loving it, everything was working great.
Three kept pushing the OTA at me, but because of root it wouldn't take.
Borrowed a PC (I run mac for work) to run LG Suite and (back up first) fix upgrade errors to unroot to take OTA.
For some reason it bricked it...it just sat on Firmware update at 0% forEVER. Wouldn't boot past it or recognise the device anymore.
Had to use the Mobile Support tool to bring it back to life... although this resulted in an upgrade to 5 anyway.
I'm really not a fan of L. Won't go into details as to why it sucks, but I want to go back to KK and root, and then wait for L to get root options.
I've never flashed a ROM before, however there's a ton of resources here so I will give it a go.
I want to go back to the exact same ROM that came with the device which I THINK I have tracked down to - D85510g_00 via
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=53606494
and
http://www.mylgphones.com/lg-g3-firmware-checking-the-software-version-and-update-history
Can anyone confirm that would be the right one... Is there any reason why I shouldn't use this ROM?
I want to go with what works, and not risk bricking it by installing an unbranded ROM in case they've used some sort of security measure that I'm unaware of... or am I just being a noob?
TL : DR
ON Lpop, want KK back... downgrade to D85510g_00.kdz for 3 UK (Hutchinson) branded ROM - Correct?

Champion!
Thanks for your reply. Will borrow a PC again and give it a whirl tonight.
I have the KDZ file, USB drivers and LG Flash tool already downloaded... and intend on following this guide - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2785089
I have seen in the second method mentioned in that guide - TOTs and DLLs, could you confirm that these are different paths to the same goal? Either I need KDZ or I need TOT & DLL... but I don't need KDZ and TOT and DLL? Have I understood that correctly?

[Q] Prepare for transition: 10L -> 20E & back.

Hi,
I have 855 (generic European version), V10L, rooted (using towel rooter), no TWRP, all OTA (since July 2014) installed automatically and seamlessly so far (keeping the root).
Today I got a prompt about V20E available upgrade.
I have LG PC Suite up-to-date backups of this device, and anyhow don't have anything that can't be restored, but in general prefer to not reconfigure everything manually.
Did nothing so far.
Questions:
Is it worth to move to V20E, is the version stable enough, worth to wait for V20F or whatever comes next ?
If I decide to proceed now, I want to be able to return to my current state (I do not need to fast switch between multiple roms, just way to get back V10L with my current configuration).
I prefer the way that allows me to keep receiving OTAs, and not to flush next updates manually.
After looking on the forums I though about the following workflows
First (without TWRP):
1. Create one more backup using LG PC Suite.
2. Unroot (just to be safe).
3. Accept OTA.
If I understand correctly I will loose root here, and it can not be restored (for now).
In case of need to restore:
1. Follow LG G3 Stock Firmware (Go Back to Stock) to flash D855 V10A. I hope after flushing it will receive 10L OTA ? Am I right, or I will be stuck with 10A ?
2. Restore my existing backup using LG PC Suite. If I do restore on V10A, will it bring me back to 10L ?
3. Reroot if needed.
Second, with TWRP:
1. Install TWRP.
2. Create full backup from inside TWRP.
3. Get prebumped Lollypop image (I see only V20C here. Where can I get more recent versions ?)
4. Install it and reroot if needed.
In this case I must reject upcoming OTA prompts and flash future prebumped images manually.
To restore
1. Restore full TWRP backup, and I'll get V10L with all my stuff preconfigured.
2. If at this step I want to get rid off TWRP, can I remove it somehow ? Will it restore the phone to the current state (rooted, V10L, able to get OTAs) ?
Sorry for multiple questions but currently the whole process looks a bit unclear for me.
Q: Is it worth to move to V20E, is the version stable enough, worth to wait for V20F or whatever comes next ?
A: No V20H got released today and its probably gonna be available in your region really soon
Note: If you do ever want to install stock lollipop please be aware LG backup cannot save the appdata of any system applications such as chrome etc etc
Q: Follow LG G3 Stock Firmware (Go Back to Stock) to flash D855 V10A. I hope after flushing it will receive 10L OTA ? Am I right, or I will be stuck with 10A ?
A: Check (http://lg-phone-firmware.com/index.php?id_mod=41) and download the v10 firmware the corrosponds with your country. If the firmware has a 6 in front of it its for the 16GB variant
Q: Where can I get more recent versions?
A: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/development/stock-t2961073
Q: If at this step I want to get rid off TWRP, can I remove it somehow ? Will it restore the phone to the current state (rooted, V10L, able to get OTAs) ?
A: Yes, by flashing stock recovery.img. Restoring your TWRP backup will restore the phone to the current state

Thanks, but I am not sure about this one. What is the process ?
If I flash stock kdz it will remove TWRP, but I will not be able to restore TWRP backup (without TWRP), right ?
Is it possible to first restore TWRP backup, then flash "something" that will replace only TWRP, leaving android OS intact ?
Before saying anything, I would just like to give you a thank you for your post, it's very clear and pleasant to read. Looks like you also did a bit of research before asking so that is also very good :good:
So, I'm not gonna be able to help you a lot about the backup thing because I like to always start fresh when I change Rom or if I want to go back to stock. I backup my data manually and restore what I want to. Using a Google account it will automatically reinstall your apps, but you'll have to reconfigure them manually.
Anyway, I also got a D855, French variant A6FR. (A6 means 16GB) You can check what is the latest version that LG offers you by checking the link bellow. You just put your IMEI at the end and it will give you an XML with information about your phone, like your specific variant (German, UK, ... don't know where you are from) and the latest firmware available for your and a link to download it. For me it says D85520F_00 so it's LL version F.
http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/csmg/b2c/client/auth_model_check2.jsp?esn=IMEI
So, you can go back to stock using the KDZ method and with the firmware LG offers you (removing root, revovery, ...), but as you probably now, LL is not rootable. To summarize, that is not really interesting unless you want a STOCK STOCK LL.
But you guessed right with the V10A. If you go back to stock with this version, it will remove the root, custom recovery and anything else you have, you will also end up with a completely stock G3, but KitKat G3. There is no obligation to use V10A, if you find a KDZ of a later version you can use it too. Of course we are talking here about V10something not V20 that is LL. Just make sure to use a version suitable to your phone (16/32GB).
Flashing that, LG will be happy and will let you do OTAs. So if you flash V10A, it will give you all the OTAs untill the latest available. So you can go V10A --> V10B --> V10C --> ...... --> V10L --> ..... --> Lollipop
You won't be stuck with V10A.
Now if you want a rooted LL, you will need to use a custom Rom. In the Dev section you can find for example GloudyG3 that is based on the stock LG rom with a few enhancements. It is currently based on V20F and will probably move to V20H which is a brand new version that went up like 2 days ago.
To summarize
KDZ with V10something allows you to go completely stock and give you official OTAs. It can be rooted.
KDZ with V20something works too and will give you OTAs, but is not rootable, so if you want a custom rom, you will have to downgrade to V10, root and install TWRP.
Flashing a KDZ always erase everything on your phone.
If you flash a custom rom, you won't have LG's OTAs so you won't have to worry about rejecting them.
Before doing anything crazy, backup your EFS (basically your IMEI partion) with TWRP and manually. Always nice to have several ways to do it.

Help, I rooted my phone and I get a warning everytime i open it

Hello
So after foolishly updating to Marshmellow and discovering that all my apps no longer update in the background, i flashed my device to the LG G4 V10D-226-01 software version, the 10D Europe Open from the LG g4 "Go back to stock rom" thread.
Problem is, everytime i open my phone i get "Warning: Current version is not available for user. Cant find matched cust for Nt-code mcc/mnc[22601],subset[ff]. I have looked both on google and here and everything i found was for the G3 model and it involved using a "custom restore" image. but no explanation on how to use it, its not a KDZ so i cant flash it.
I'm pretty new to all this and everything i wanted was to go back to my Lollipop variant after seeing how Marshmellow behaved on my phone. (not auto updating my background apps).
I appreciate any help you guys provide.
Thanks
u cant downgrade once u go to Marshmallow. Its a security thing tht was updated in the latest firmware b4 Marshmallow came out. Ur gona hav to start all over again wth the latest KDZ b4 Marshmallow
I reformated into a Lollipop KDZ by flashing my ROM from the "Go back to stock" thread. Problem has appeared after i did that. I am currently on Lolipop v10D

LG G3 d855 problems after flash

Hello. I have d855 android 5.0 . Wanted to install cm 13. and here are my steps:
1. Rooted my 5.0 , flashed TWRP, and flashed CM13 and gapps. There was a problems with dialer after flash, so i downgraded phone into 4.4.2 V10a (using .tot and .dll files) . .
2. Again tried to flash CM13, but process was aborted and phone bricked.
3. Flashed stock 4.4.2 again. Again no luck to write CM .
4. Flashed stock 5.0 v21a using lg flashtool. Again - if i want to flash CM - phone always bricked (error executing updater binary) . And now, even with stock 5.0 my phone data connection do not work (only wifi works)
Please help .... how to reflash my phone and get CM and back data connection??
Just tried flash 4.4.2 again. Flashed successfully, but still any data connection Tried update into 5.0 using phone software updater, but after few updaters it fails (invalid software package).
Today found, that data connection works perfectly if i set GSM/WCDMA . If LTE is selected, there are no data connection at all. Also, can't flash custom rom, phone always stuck at LG logo. Anybody can help so solve my problems?

I want to cite only the first point you described, because it's "abominable"!
Sorry for the harsh tones, but... the dialer issues obviously involved the Cyanogen rom, especially because you're using the first nightlies, often unstable.
Why you accused the official firmware (therefore no more existing since you replaced them) and decided to downgrade?
Then you've to known that important downgrades like Lollilop > KitKat may irreversibly corrupt system partitions like "efs", which make your device losing of IMEI code and mobile data!
Now the only thing you can do is updating your device by settings menu until you reach latest firmware (21A).
Since you've to manually confirm each updates (10A, 10E, 20A etc.), the process will take almost 1-2 hour.
When the update process in definitely completed, you can try to root device, install TWRP and flash latest CM13 nightly.
In case of other issues, try the quite stable CM 12.1, or the stock-based FulmicsRom.
If you continue to have troubles, do a CSE flash of 21A firmware and send your device to warranty.

Last time I connected my phone to LG mobile support, and it automaticallly updated my phone into newest official 21A firmware. IMEI - OK, data connection - still do not work when LTE is selected. So what i need to do now ? Try to root, install TWRP and flash CM 12.1 or FulmicsRom ?

Surely downgrading the entire firmware to the first release of KitKat broke the radio part of your device.
Probably if you downgraded to latest KitKat firmware (10h maybe, instead of 10a), LTE should works properly.
Have you encountered that connectivity issue even before flashing CM 13 (on official firmware)?

No, after flashing everything was fine. There is a way to reflash radio part without downgrading again ? Because when i spoted that data connection do not working, i downgraded firstly to 10a (no data connection), then i get 10h update - still no data connection. And after 10h update, my phone got another update, but showed that can't update because package is wrong of something. After that i flashed 21A what i have in my phone now.

Probably the mobile data issue was related to CM 13.
But when you downgraded to 10A, the radio part was really damaged.
As I said if you want to downgrade, always preger the "less old" firmware you need.
Like you, I downgraded in past to KitKat, but I never looked for 10A! I directly flashed 10H.
Sorry, but at this point I don't know what you have to do.
When you flashed 21A firmware, have you done a CSE flash instead of a normal one?
If not, do it.
If yes, you have to appeal to warranty without any problem, since your device has official firmware.

Installing a LG G3 ROM today

Hello guys,
I have a LG G3 d855 EUR (i live in Italy) stock firmware V30c-EUR-XX, no root, no custom rom.
Since i'm pretty new to Android modding, i want to ask for your help because i would install the best custom rom available for my device.
So, which is the best rom? Can i have a step by step tutorial for rooting my device and installing the rom?
I would like to maintain the stock camera quality, i've heard that custom roms may decrease the overall photos quality.
Thanks in advance, i really appreciate your help. :good:

Hello, since this is General.. Question shouldn't post here but anyway, have you heard Fulmics? It is developed by xpirt and will transform your G3 to G5..
You can use that ROM because it is the most reliable ROM i'll ever use on my G3.. Don't worry about the camera quality since it is stock based ROM, you won't lose anything..
Please note that my G3 is korean variant ( F400L ) and not international ( D855 ).. So my choices is a bit limited here.. Don't worry tho because Fulmics support most variant of G3's..
Let's Start!
How to root? First you need to go back to Lollipop, How? If Sony, there is Flashtool but with LG, we can use LGUP and flash the stock kdz/tot there.. Please download the right kdz for your device btw..
And there is many ways to root such as Kingroot or OneClick..
Note that, if you're using Kingroot.. Don't mind about their bloatware because we're going to update to Marshmallow anyway..
After it is done, you need to install TWRP.. You're so lucky because there are many way to install TWRP and the most easiest way is using AutoRec
( BEWARE, IF YOU INSTALLED THE WRONG VARIANT FOR YOUR DEVICES..THIS MAY LEAD TO HARD BRICK! )
AutoRec can be downloaded from Playstore, you need to find the right one for example.. You got D855, so you need to download Autorec Lollipop for D855.. Don't install the one for F400 or else, goodbye to your G3 forever.. Yup, easiest way can be the most risky way to go..
While busy with rooting and installing recovery, download the ROM you want.. As example, download the latest Fulmics 6.9 ROM for G3 and transfer it to root directory of your SD Card..
After you have TWRP installed, boot to TWRP.. If you found it is hard to boot to recovery with those stupid combination key.. Just download an apps called ... Boot.... hmm.. whatever it is.. I'll forgot, just find an apps that can help you boot to recovery easily i guess..
If you succeed to boot to recovery, congratulation.. Now do wipe data cache and install the ROM ( Fulmics 6.9 as example ).. After that, reboot the device and enjoy!
Since my G3's is already dead a long time ago ( bluescreen and flicker ), that's all i can help by typing all of this using my G4.. Goodluck!

Goodluck!

Are you sure there is no QFUSE which is blown when you downgrade? Because i've read and heard about it. It's dangerous to downgrade, someone got stuck on 5% and had the secure boot error which is an indication of QFUSE.

The downgrade is mandatory for rooting the device, right? Is there a root for Android 6.0 too? :/
I'm a bit confused...

I am not aware of any root method for V30 based roms but there could very well be.

QFUSE was supposed to be a downgrade protection which triggers when someone flashes in download mode a version of android lower than the current one. I have no idea why, if you access the hidden menu, and find DRM, you find QFUSE there. It was supposed to, like said before, be a fuse which is triggered by a downgrade.
