Too sensitive fingerprint - Nexus 5X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

yop,
does anyone have same problem like me?
My nexus when in trousers oftenly reads my pocked/leg and when i take it out of pocked i can't unlock phone via fingerprint because "too many times, try again later"
Any possibility to decrease sensitivy?
I don't say, it's seriously annoying

Never got that but I do face the screen towards my leg so the fingerprint reader is always away from me.

I was thinking to start puting screen to legs but when sitting and I want to check just clock i have to then move back phone to face screen myself

I always do it that way cause it more natural for me to unlock while taking it out of my pocket. Also more natural to put it in as well. Less maneuvering of the phone.

Let's give it up for Intellicover!

This app is MY FAVORITE ANDROID APP EVER.
- Virtually zero battery drain
- I never ever EVER have to touch on/off button now
- Tons of customization settings
- FREE FREE FREE
- Works awesome whether i'm using my poetic cover, just putting the phone loose in my pocket..or even if its just sitting out on the desk and goes to sleep (just put your finger over the sensor briefly to 'wake' it)
- You can turn off the 'auto on/off' when in landscape mode which is great..i never accidently put the phone to sleep while showing someone a video
- Set it to work automatically after rebooting phone
- Set it to automatically release the lockscreen (if you dont have a passcode)
in short..this simple app has quickly surpassed everything else i installed because it so simple and elegant!
2 thumbs up! i'm planning to buy this guy a beer or whatever his little thing says.
Interesting idea for an app, but not for me. I like to keep my phone out on my desk during most of the day and I'm not a fan of having it face down especially since I don't use a case/bumper/screen protector.
you dont need to.
it will go to sleep like it normally does. it would only turn on if you put your finger over the sensor for a second.
give it a try..you'll fall in love w/ this app!
Yes!!
I just replaced the LG bumper case with a Nillkin flip cover last night and immediately started to hate having to press the power button to unlock it. Now I just have to open the flip cover for the screen to turn on. I've only been testing it for a few minutes but so far it's been perfect.
garenzy - I leave my phone on my desk with the flip cover open as well. As nyvram1 mentioned, you just need to wave your hand over the proximity sensor and the screen turns on. It's been flawless for me so far.
Loving this app! The verdict is still out on the battery drain but I'd be willing to take a small hit on that for this new feature.

i've had this installed for over a week and haven't noticed any additional battery drain.
read the developer's notes. he explains why the battery draw from using this is negligible at best.
i LOVE this app! seriously, after using my phone for a month without it, then installing it a week ago its like i have a new phone!
I dig it, I have my bumper so putting it face down at my desk isn't an issue and it's nice not having to feel for the power button.
doesnt matter if you put it face down or face up on the desk. it will obey the normal timeout sleep if face up and you just move your finger over the sensor to 'wake it' if you need to use it.
no downsides to this app yet.

Thanks man! I have the bumper and a leather magnetic clip for when I'm working. I thought the magnet would turn it off but it was poorly worded and the magnet clip was just too keep the clasp on.
So THIS is perfect thanks man!

I haven`t installed it yet but how does this affect the lock/unlocking of screen when you put it in pockets or put it in your bag?
Installed, can't decide if I actually like it or not. Seems to flick on and off all the time despite messing with the settings. Works well when I put it in my pocket.

The lock screen always comes on after wake up. However this can be disabled in the app.

I was using smart screen on pro for the same. It used to work fine. Now installed this. In initial testing, it is working fine. Let's see how it fares. Thanks for the tip.

I would have to agree with "Meg" on this one.....I feel kinda dirty after reading the OP. It makes me feel like I just got back from a used car lot.

Guys a bit excited about an app he really likes. I love it because I have a leather case that opens like a book so this is pretty awesome.
Maybe I developed the app too

Tried it, it killed about 14% battery overnight while I slept :/ not good so uninstalled.
Fun gimmick app, I can see the usefullness when you're using a flip cover, however I don't so it's just a cool gimmick till sleep2wake becomes available for other kernels. That how i want to turn on my device

So 24hrs later it's getting uninstalled, everything seemed to be working fine but on calls/alarms/etc. it doesn't show the appropriate screen it instead shows the home screen (I did set it to go to the home screen but that was so it didn't stay stuck on the intellicover screen) so for now I'll just go back to tapping the power button

Screen shaking while holding finger on touch screen

Guys please help me I've just bought my nexus 5x and yesterday I was reading some thing and scrolling and while holding my finger during the scrolling the screen is shaking rapidly as if I'm doing fast up and down scrolling and this is occurring in all apps, lock screen, settings and everywhere.
Do a factory on it. See if that fixes

Some of the provided LG sunlin charges have a fault where screen sensitivity gets worse while plugged in, maybe could be related?
But i tried other chargers but it still exists

It happens to me too, what can we do? software or hardware?
this happen on my old gnex, makes anything typing related impossible to use. the phone still going strong until today though.
I also have this problem. Do you know a fix?
I also have this problem. Do you know a fix?
I had this problem with my old nexus 5. For the 5X which I am now using, the problem is much less that it is not noticeable normally, but the little shaking can be seen when using apps which trace the path of finger movement. Anyway it's not recommended to use the phone while charging, and there are some reports that people got electric shock doing this.

Touch screen sensitivity

On the Oneplus One we had a lower touchscreen sensitivity (not ghost touches) than on other flagship devices. Nothing big but still noticable. For example i could you my old S3 also with the fingernails with the fingers upside down.
I already ordered a 1+3 but I wanted to ask people who already have the device how the sensitivity is compared to other flasghips or midrabge devices.
I've upgraded from a Nexus 5 so I can't compare the phone with other new flagships. However, you are able to use the touchscreen with your fingernail. I have noticed it is more sensitive than my old phone. I hope this gives you some indication.

Nexus 5 touch is good. My friend has it. But if you say that its possible to use it with fingernail im very happy. It isnt possible with the 1+1.

That sensitivity results in me not being able to use Gestures, since keeping it in my pocket keeps the phone awake (cpu usage = battery drain, heating up) .

That seems to be a problem with the fingerprint sensor, not the display. See here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3/help/oneplus-3-loses-energy-inside-pocket-t3403583
It happens to me also, but with ambient display and all gestures switched off...

Screen turns on in pocket 7.1.1 NPF10C

If I cover the proximity sensor and try to turn the screen on, I'm successful. That's with both power button and fingerprint sensor. It didn't do this on the most recent 7.0, has anyone else had this problem? Androsensor shows the proximity sensor is working.

Do you mean while in a phone call? I'm running NBD90W 7.0 and the proximity sensor doesn't prevent me from turning the display on while not in a call.

No, I mean while the phone's not being used. I used to be able to set my phone face down, touch the sensor, then it'd vibrate like it accepted the fingerprint, but the screen would stay off.

Interesting because I don't think that was ever supposed to be the case. I've never read that being a feature on the 5X nor Nexus 6P. Are you certain it wasn't just auto brightness? Cuz on mine, with auto brightness enabled, I can reproduce the scenario you are referring to. The phone does look "off" but it's just extremely dim due to the sensor being covered. Happens all the time when I'm in my car since I leave my phone in the cup holder.

I just checked my wife's phone, and you're right, her screen comes on. She's on NBD90W. Maybe it was on MM? Anyway, it's super annoying because my screen will turn on in my pocket and the emergency dialer will get hit. Then it's just pushing buttons for over an hour. (While at work, phone in front pocket)
Edit: I just remembered that this is a replacement device, received about a week ago. Maybe the old device was actually glitching in a good way? I just figured it was NPF10C because I've only really noticed it since I installed that version.

I'm trying the app, Pocket Screen Lock to see if it helps. It could be that my power button keeps getting hit, but I don't know how. I do move around a lot at work, though.

I'm not sure else it would be. I'm leaning towards the device possibly having a defect. Have you tried going back to 7.0 and resetting it there? I can't try 7.1.1 until it's official so I'm limited in what I can suggest.
Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
No, I haven't. At this point, I'm going to stick with the pocket screen lock app, because I'm hoping to avoid wiping the device. Thanks for the help, even though you were mostly just a sounding board. It really did help out.

note 10+ locks while in use

I don't know when this started to happen but I imagine that it was 1-3 updates ago.
My phone is stock with Nova Launcher. It is an AT&T phone. Smart lock is enabled and i am connected to devices or i am in a trusted place.
I can be using some apps and my phone just locks...in the middle of typing.
Has anyone else had this problem?
Does someone have a solution?
Do you have a case on it? Check the power button fitment first if you do especially if it happens when you grip it for typing.

Yeah. Still locked by itself.

Mine was doing that after the last update I had to wipe phone and start over
Great, same thing is happening to me, will be using it, texting or other, then bam, black screen... what the ****.
I'm thinking Smart Lock is the likely culprit. Is anyone who experiences this NOT using SL?
Try disabling the "lock device when trust is lost" option
