Rooted via unsecured boot.img
and successfully flashed ClockWorkMod Recovery.
We need to modify the stock boot.img of the phone because it is "impossible" to root the device that has "ro.secure=1" setting in the boot.img , that is the reason why we need to modify the stock boot.img to have an "ro.secure=0"
If you are able to flash the modified boot.img to the phone.
ANY ROOTING METHOD will do, like
superoneclick, unlock me, or any exploit that uses ZergRush
take note that O+8.7 is MT6575
just follow instructions here if you want how to modify your own stock boot.img
http://www.mediafire.com/view/?n3m5ei65dn2qckx
Im not responsible for any damage that may be incured. im just sharing. I hope you understand.
The Easy Way:
If you want to use my modified boot.img. follow the succeeding instructions.
...
If you already have other versions of the softwares that are provided. Please Do not use them.
Use only provided software versions given to avoid conflict.
...
1) Download MTKXX_preloader_driver from attachment and install.[IMPORTANT]
2) Download boot.rar extract it and make sure you have boot.img file
3) Download MT6573_Android_scatter.txt
*As you can see, the scatter file is for MT6573, just ignore this, the important thing is the contents inside the file.
4) Using SP_Flash_Tool_v2.1134.00 load first the scatter file provided.
5) From the checkbox below, choose boot and browse for the boot.img provided.
*Make sure you selected the boot.img that is provided or else your phone might end up in a boot loop.
6) make sure to enable debugging mode in your mobile then turn it OFF.
7) Click download and plug in your O+ 8.7 to PC.
8) Then wait for download until you see the green circle.
9) Reboot phone
10) try SuperOneClick v2.3.3 ShortFuse.zip, or any rooting tool you are comfortable with.

WORKING
TOTALLY WORKS.. took out that preinstalled angry bird and fruit ninja game
OPLUS 7.1 Tab
Has anyone tried rooting their OPlus Tab 7.1? Mine's new so I'm still reluctant to do it. Will definitely ruin the warranty.
Just need to know if someone has successfully done that so I can root mine once the warranty is expired.
Is there a custom rom for this smartphone? If there is,please send me a message.
WORKING
Just rooted my phone yesterday...
What I did is that I just follow those given steps stated above but you really have to be careful because it might not work properly..
it is said in the step #6 that you must enable usb debugging to do this you have to go to:
SETTINGS >> APPLICATION >> DEVELOPMENT >> USB DEBUGGING (enable) and TURN OFF YOUR MOBILE PHONE.
step #7 Click DOWNLOAD FIRST and wait for the message in the bottom right said: PLEASE INSERT USB CABLE you will be given a 14sec time so you really have to insert the cable fast. After this step you will see the yellow bar to download and after that you will see the green box for successful confirmation.
try to reboot your phone and turn it on.
after this you can now root your phone but I suggest you use the SuperOneClick v2.3.3 ShortFuse.zip.
(z4root and universal androot is not applicable. I tried this 2 kind of root apps already.)
Just ENABLE USB DEBUGGING, insert your USB CABLE to the computer.
Download superoneclick from any site make sure to extract the files open it and you will see an ANDROID ICON with superoneclick.exe run the application then a box will appear.
Go to ADVANCE and click SEARCH DRIVERS then the USB DRIVER for O+ 8.7 will automatically download.
After that go to basic then click ROOT SHELL or SHELL ROOT. Then, click the ROOT. Systems from your mobile device will be seen. Wait for the box to be shown saying that your phone is successfully rooted. If you are in doubt you can do it again, repeating the same steps but don't repeat for the usb driver to download.
Reboot your phone. Turn it on and you will see superuser downloaded to your system application. If your still in doubt if your phone is rooted or not download ROOT CHECKER in your phone. Install the apps, run it and click the CHECK NOW. ROOTED will be shown in the status section.
Congratulations! Your phone is rooted!
If your not 100% sure of rooting your phone try to keep this for future use after the warranty of your phone expires.

link not working very well. DL stalls.
Hello everyone,
Here are some step by step guides for those of you who need detailed instructions for rooting and un-rooting the T-mobile LG G5.
The guides are short and to the point and are meant to be followed one after the other (STEP#1 --> STEP#2 --> STEP#3).
For the step#3 guide, you must choose one out of the three available guides below:
Guides:
Tmobile-LGG5_pre_flash_MM_6_0_1_requirements_STEP_1
Tmobile-LGG5_pre_flash_MM_6_0_1_requirements_STEP_2
Tmobile-LGG5_flash_root_with_stock_MM_6_0_1_Re-install_STEP_3 <------ If you want to re-install stock MM 6.0.1 with root
Tmobile-LGG5_flash_root_with_stock_MM_6_0_1_Upgrade_only_STEP_3 <------ If you want to root current stock MM 6.0.1
Tmobile-LGG5_flash_Stock_UnRoot_MM_6_0_1_STEP_3 <------ If you want to have stock MM 6.0.1 only (no root, use this if you want to return the phone or sell it)
They will walk you through:
Downloading and Installing the necessary drivers / tools
Unlocking your bootloader
Flashing the stock .kdz file
Flashing the rooted .TOT file
Using TWRP to gain root status
I assume the following:
You are using a Microsoft Windows operating system (Windows 7 or above)
You understand that all data on your phone will be deleted
You understand that your warranty is now gone
You understand that YOU MUST follow the guides one after the other (1 -> 2 -> 3). If you deviate from this YOU WILL NOT be successful in rooting your phone
You understand that YOU MUST follow the steps in the guides one after the other (1 -> 2 -> 3). If you deviate from this YOU WILL NOT be successful in rooting your phone
Your phone's USB PC Connection (mode your phone is in when connected to your PC) is on File Transfer mode. ADB and Fastboot commands to the device WILL NOT work if device is not on this mode
You read the Useful tips & information for the T-mobile LG G5 post
You read the Changelog + News & Additions post
***Un-root***
If you want to "un-root" your device (go back to default stock) use the Tmobile-LGG5_flash_Stock_UnRoot_MM_6_0_1_STEP_3 guide.
(Keep in mind that this WILL DELETE all data on the phone)
***Disclaimer***
I take no responsibility in what you do to your phone
The step-by-step guides in this thread were made with the assumption that you will strictly follow them one after the other.
(If you don't, YOU WILL brick your phone!)
If you run into an problem, verify that you have correctly completed all the steps for each guide before posting to this thread. Most problems come from guides / steps that were skipped.
If possible use a laptop that is fully charged and plugged in to an outlet instead of a regular PC (unless it has a UPS attached to it) just in case you lose power during the flashing process.
(If you use a regular PC without a UPS attached to it and you lose power during the flashing process, YOU WILL brick your phone!)
I would like to thank the following people for making all of this possible:
tungkick
wolfu11
arjuna_
Your work and dedication does not go unnoticed, thank you. I would also like to thank anyone else not mentioned here that allowed the rest of us to get root on our beloved LG G5 phones. The android community is awesome!!!

**Changelog + News & Additions**
Changelog (for the guides only):
7.16.16 - All guides have been updated to reflect the new 10d .kdz and .tot files. All links to tools, .kdz, and .tot files have been updated as well.
News & Additions:
7.16.16 - Multiple updates
A modified H83010d rooted .tot file has been released (thanks to Tungkick & wolfu11)
Guides are safe to use again. All links in all the guides have been updated to reflect the new H83010d files
If TWRP is not showing the internal storage but only the external SD-card take a look at post 24
7.9.16 - There is a new firmware update (H83010d) for the LG G5 (T-mobile) which is not compatible with firmware (H83010a) the .TOT files used in this thread have
If you upgrade to this new firmware, you will lose root.
There is no current way to get root on the new H83010d firmware unless the modified .TOT / KDZ files are released with TWRP included
There is an anti-rollback feature in the LG G5 (t-mobile) phone that prevents you from flashing back the H83010a firmware after you upgrade to the H83010d firmware. Attempting to do this WILL BRICK your phone!
Do not attempt to use the guides which are using H8301a .tot / kdz files if you have updated to H8301d. I will be updating the guides as soon as the H83010d modified .tot / kdz files come out.
5.29.16 - LG G5 & LG V10 possible driver issue: First reported on Post#6
If you own an LG V10 and have used your PC to root it, you most likely installed drivers, tools, and or files specific for the V10. What this means is that you may have to uninstall those drivers, tools, and or files prior to installing anything to be used for rooting the G5. This does not include the ADB program which can work for both.
i just felt the need to post and say thanks for this even though i dont need it. Great effort pulling these together, they look good and are very clear. Thanks! :good:

Thank you.
Thank you for the walk through. I had a little trouble with drivers and had to uninstall all drivers and reinstall exactly as you have it written here for it to work. I have a LG V10 which probably caused some conflict.
Two questions:
1) Does this automatically encrypt the phone? After flashing both the no verity and the SU it boots in to "encrypting" with no other option. I have not had this happen with any other device. Did I mess something up?
2) The password at the beginning of TWRP is requested every time, even after flashing the no verity zip. What did I do wrong?

ETA:
Something wasn't right about the No Verity app. I redid entire process and was able to get it to work with root being successful. Left this up for others - I Believe my mistake was using an external SD to install SU first and then no verity. For some reason they were NOT showing in TWRP on the internal SD even though I KNOW they were there.

For some reason they were NOT showing in TWRP on the internal SD even though I KNOW they were there.

Thank you for your input skyfox99. Your solution to the issues you faced will help others avoid them. You made me think of something I did not anticipate which is what happens when you attempt to root your G5 using the same PC you used to root a V10. I am definitely adding a service announcement to the Changelog (post#3) to address this possible issue.
When I get to step 13: Verify that the LGUP Tool works... the progress frame never shows up, even after restarting my PC. Am I missing something? Please help

Thank you for the walk through. I had a little trouble with drivers and had to uninstall all drivers and reinstall exactly as you have it written here for it to work. I have a LG V10 which probably caused some conflict.

i believe i'm having the same issue, no files show up in the explorer in TWRP regardless. I've been using a usb thumb drive with a usb c adapter to flash files from twrp. i followed directions perfectly and i still see the warning encryption message and read-only message when starting twrp every time.
i have root tho and everything seems to be working fine

Anyone find a fix to this? I'm stuck in the same spot, I've gone through the entire process twice now, including resetting the phone back to 6. No matter what I try it seems TWRP won't mount my internal storage!

I guess I'm having trouble understanding exactly what your issue is. Are you saying that when you boot into TWRP and you go to the INSTALL section to flash the encryption zip and the superSU zip you don't see the files? Can you attach a few screenshots so that I can better understand what you are going through. Thank you.

No, I copied after wipe so they were there. Computer recognized them and so does file manager.

There is a TWRP bootloop set of instructions in another thread, run those commands and see if it resolves it, maybe?

I had to reflash no verity a few times, before installing SU. There seems to be a problem with TWRP.

I didn't have any of the issues you guys are reporting in this thread. TWRP sees both internal storage and SD card. And has since I originally rooted.

It's a very weird problem and unfortunately the only thing I can think off is that TWRP might not be compatible with the SD-Card you are using.
As it's Android One device, it probably uses Google OTA service. If you would be able to provide me with system fingerprint, there's a chance for me to get full OTA link to start up the development for this and possibly other devices.
How to do it?
Install Terminal Emulator from Google Play, type:
Code:
getprop | grep fingerprint
and click enter.
if you want to provide more of usable data, use just
Code:
getprop

No update available yet, so I can't check currently if there will be full OTA zips. If you still have the access to this device, try getting kdz download link or file itself (via the official LG tool). Or post/*pm* the IMEI (it may be without last three numbers, because I don't need your own, but just any of them to simulate LG Bridge request). Basically, the only way to get fw now is to get the kdz. Aand last question: is G7 One bootloader unlockable? From what I saw in getprop, there was a prop suggesting that OEM unlock switch is blocked.

After enabling developer mode, I am given the option of unlocking the bootloader from the developer menu. I am able to enable it but I didn't test it.
The config [sys.oem_unlock_allowed]: [1] is now set
I tried using LG Mobile Support tool. Software is up to date, so I went into Upgrade Recovery menu option. It did a few checks and failed after "analyzing software version."
The error was "problem with communication between cell phone and PC." Maybe LG's support tool isnt updated to handle the phone yet.
I'll PM you an IMEI

Ok, managed to decrypt LGMST thingies. So, it seems that LG just didn't push any kdz yet. But the good news is that we should be able to fetch them as soon as they do it. In the free time, see if you can extract the Camera app from the device. Through Solid Explorer, for example.

Thanks but that's just a setting that you have to change to enable the unlocking. You also have to enable USB Debugging in Developer Options, then reboot into fastboot as instructed here.
Enable USB-Debugging on your phone. USB-Debugging is required for the commands “adb” and “fastboot” to work. To enable USB-Debugging, go to Settings > About phone > Software info and tap Build number 7 times. Return to the previous screen, select Developer options and enable USB-Debugging.
Enable OEM unlock on your phone. Activating the "Enable OEM unlock" is necessary for the bootloader unlock. To enable OEM unlock, go to Settings > Developer options and check Enable OEM unlock.
You can view the Device ID by connecting your phone to the PC using a USB cable and entering "adb reboot bootloader" in DOS command window. Your phone will reboot into the fastboot mode. Enter "fastboot oem device-id" in DOS command window.
Are you able to retrieve the Device ID?
EDIT: Never mind. I just got this from LG Support Chat: "As per our MC Specialists, unlocking the bootloader on G7 One is not possible anymore."

Nah, we are seemingly clogged, until kdz start to distribute. For now, you may just capture the OTA link in adb.
Heads up for anyone interested in this phone: it is available on ebay. I've looked a few times over the last week, and there have been several of them up for grabs for a reasonable price. It's also available on Canadian Amazon (amazon.ca).
If anyone is wondering what frequency bands the phone will use, let me know and I can call around and ask some place that sells this phone.

This is a guide on how to unlock the bootloader, install TWRP, and root your Huawei Nova 3i/P Smart+. (INE-LX1/INE-LX2). You need at least $20 to unlock the bootloader.
Thanks for @medoamer for trying this first and helping me out!
Code:
#include <std_disclaimer.h>
/*
* Your warranty will be void if you follow this guide.
*
* Only YOU are responsible for any damage done to your
* device by following this guide. I'm not affiliated with, or
* responsible for any service mentioned below.
*
*/
You will need:
-A working Nova 3i/P Smart+.
-$20/$22/$55 depending on your preferences.
-A Windows PC. (PM me if you have a Linux one, I will update the guide accordingly)
-A working SD card that is tested and working with your phone.
-A reliable USB cable which works for connecting your phone to your PC.
-A backup (optional)
PART 1: Bootloader Unlock
To unlock your bootloader you need a bootloader unlock code. Huawei stopped giving bootloader codes in end of July. But you can buy one in one of the webistes below. You have to send your IMEI to them, and they will generate the unlock code and send it to you. You can see your IMEI at System>>About Phone>>IMEI.
1.) Global Unlocking Solutions for $20/$22
First of all, I know that the website looks super sketchy. But @medoamer, myself, and a lot of other XDA users had success with this method. I spent the extra $2 for the fast service, but it is up to you.
2.) FunkyHuawei for $55
The advantage of FunkyHuawei is that they have a good track record with XDA and other services, a refund policy, and just you know what you are getting into. You can ask for a refund if the code does not work.
3.) Ministry of Solutions for €30
A lot of XDA users had success with this method also. I don't know much information about this method, but the ysay they offer a refund if the code doesn't work.
Got the code? Good. You are mostly done now...
Install ADB and Fastboot. I'm not going to give a guide on how, you can search for it. Download and install Hisuite from here. Connect your phone to your PC, and open a command prompt on your ADB folder. Run,
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
Wait for your device to reboot and show a screen with title "FASTBOOT & RESCUE MODE". In the next command replace <code> with the unlock code you bought. The next step will wipe all the data on your device, so you might want to backup your important data.
Code:
fsatboot oem unlock <code>
Congratulations, you just unlocked the bootloader of your device. Your warranty is legally void now. Reboot the device with the command;
Code:
fastboot reboot
PART 2: Install TWRP and Magisk
First, connect your SD card to your phone, download Magisk ZIP here, and place it in your SD card.
Reboot to Fastboot again with,
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
Download the TWRP image here and copy it your ADB folder. Use this command to flash TWRP.
Code:
fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk twrp-kirin.img
Hold the power button to turn your phone off. Disconnect your phone from your PC. Now hold the power button and Vol. Up button until the Huawei logo appears, then let go of both buttons. The blue TWRP logo should appear and after a second you would see the TWRP menu. If you see the Keep System Read-Only menu, swipe right.
Go to Install>>Select Storage>>Micro SD Card. You should see the Magisk ZIP you placed there earlier. Select it, and Confirm to flash. After the flashing is over, reboot your phone.
Congratulations, now you have a rooted device!
If you need any help along the way, or end up bricking your device, I will help you the best I can.
Good Luck!
