So I applied the dbrand skin I ordered and I used a hair dryer just like they said in the instructional video. Now, whenever I plug my N5X to my AUX in my car, it stutters and disconnects to the slightest movement.
Headphones and earphones work just fine, even when I try to move them a bit, nothing wrong. But for some reason, in my car it starts disconnecting and having this weird *puf* sound that you hear whenever you connect, or disconnect something from a speaker. hope that was a clear enough description...
I tried chaning AUX cables, nothing worked. Other phones and devices work flawlessly so It's gotta be something in my phone and I'm afraid it's because of the heat I applied while putting my dbrand skin on.
Can anyone help?

Hello all
actually I can't say if this has been already treated, but in case I could be told where to look for.
Here we go: sometimes when I reboot my desire , the phone starts with the headphones icon up, as if I plugged in the headphones... even though I didn't do it! So I can't hear any sound untill I plug the headset in and out again. Has anyone experienced this issue and knows a solution? This occurs regardless of the rom...

Maybe something stuck in your headphone jack?
back up u are data
and do factory data reset
It is possible the innards of your headphone jack is dirty, probably from pocket lint or dust. Cloth and dirt can be electrically conductive in some cases, and it may be causing the false headphone notification to show up.
Don't use canned air as it may just push the dirt deeper into your device. Sticking alcohol/contact cleaner-soaked qtips/cotton tip buds into the headphone jack is not advisable either, since they can leave behind cotton fibers inside the jack.
Have your device checked out and its innards cleaned, or at least the headphone jack. Dirt and dust is never good for electronics
Worse case scenario is your headphone jack is on its way out
Actually there was some dust in the inner jack, but that was not the problem since rebooting showed the problem again.
Anyhow I downloaded toggleheadset2 and I checked the option to force speaker on reboot. It works flawlessy.
I had similar problem when my Desire suddenly activated car dock mode, reason was some pocket lint in usb connector. Had to use some electronics cleaner and canned air to get it sorted.
My ZL is about 2 weeks old, and i tried to put in the headphones in it, but somehow, it seems like the rubber black cover that is inside the audio jack pushed down, and is now causing a barrier between any headphones i put in and the bottom of the audio jack.
I can't use phone in bluetooth mode, as phone thinks there are headphones in it, probably because of that rubber part touching the base of the audio jack. Please help, i am unsure what to do, i tried to fish it out but it seems to be stuck in it well. If i try to put in headphones, it just won't go all in, and the headphones don't work .
This happened to my Sony Vaio laptop a few years back. I used tweezers to pull it back out and was able to fix the headphone being detected. It took a long time though Good luck!
Hi,
I have been trying to troubleshoot my issues and have had no luck.
one day my headphones stopped playing in my right ear so I figured it was a bad headphone jack. I bought a new one and replaced it. Now it only plays when button control headphones are plugged in (the plugs with the 3 black stripes not the 2 like standard earbuds). It does play but if I turn the headphone plug it stops playing at certain points while turning. the rear speaker works fine.
I tried having the jack plugged in with the metal outer case off and I have the same issue (again, I don't think a short is an issue).
I checked everything and the headphone jack appears to be fine, doesn't appear to be a short anywhere. I am at a loss on what my next step would be.
Thank you.
There are lots of possible solutions, that you can try.
Sounds like you might just need to replace the audio receiver.

I tried plugging in an aux cable last night, and I couldn't get it to go all the way in. If I pushed it hard enough, the sound would come through the speakers but as soon as I let go, it disconnected. I tried a few different pairs, and it seems there's something preventing the 3.5 mm jack from being inserted all the way. I tried it with and without my Rugged Armor case, too. Anyone else have this issue? Might have to take it in, but with the Pixel XL being in short supply I really don't want to go without a phone
Just rma it
I gave it quite a bit of pressure. I didn't wanna break it, lol. I shouldn't have to push it in that hard though, just wondering if this was a universal issue or is it an isolated incident

Hi Chris,
It appears I am having the same, or nearly identical issue. I tried using my aux cord, as I normally do nearly every day, on Wednesday and it wasn't connecting properly, giving some weird feedback through the output (or no output at home) and thought it was an issue with the aux to cassette (very possible with the high use and mechanical failures).
At home I tried with headphones, and I could not get a full connection. The device stopped playback of the music as it always does when it detects some input, but there was no output, and at times google now would be activated or the volume down would be activated, but this headphone had no control on it whatsoever, so some sort of short/feedback was emulating a volume control.
Talking with project fi now about my options...still haven't sold my 6p yet so I could still use as a backup, but what a hassle...
I've never had this problem before. Could it be lint? I can't look inside and tell, and I don't have tweezers small enough to reach in.

If you take it into a bestbuy and go to the Samsung reps they'll take a look at it for you and tell you if there is lint or not and get it out for you I know that they're Samsung reps but they help with any Android device lol

No need, went to one of the phone service kiosks in the mall and they used tweezers to pull out a sh-t load of lint. Looked like a magic trick, neither of us could believe it.
Take a toothpick and press towards the bottom, if it's spongy, it's probably lint. Use a bright light to look inside.
A good sucking of the head jack should clear up any clogs..
I actually had the same problem (Pixel XL and I could not plug in my headphone jack all the way). I received the XL on 10/20, but had yet to use my headphones until this past weekend. It seems like this might be a common problem because when I called the Google Pixel Support, they immediately transferred me to Project Fi support and the girl I was speaking with immediately began the process of sending me a new phone (this was on Sunday 11/28). I received the new phone today (11/30) and everything works fine with the new phone and headphone jack.
I have this issue with the Google Pixel. I just got the device yesterday and when plugging it into aux cord in vehicle the sound was distorted. I tried the next time I got into car and it doesn't go in all the way. I went home and tried multiple pairs of headphones and they don't fit into headphone jack 100%. It goes in most of the way but stops at the top and doesn't hold in place. I called Google support and am waiting on a callback.
I had the exact same issue. A bit of canned air worked for me!
This started recently, only actually noticed it as my phone last night. I was watching a YouTube video and the audio just quit. I checked other audio and it wasn't working either. I smacked the back of my phone and it started working, like the jack was initialized while empty. I have been using a stereo on a moped with my phone in the seat, and it had been cutting out a lot, assuming from this issue and minor bouncing about in the seat. Given the way this phone is designed, j didn't think a little vibration and bouncing would hurt anything. Unless steam from having my phone in the shower (not directly in water, just in the shower) caused the damage. Also have YouTube pause framing while audio plays but I think that's software.
Mine is working fine, never had issues... and though I can't offer a fix... I can sadly assure you that repetitive vibrations to electronic devices can cause mechanical connection failures.
Watch a video of a tear down of an s7 (or really any other smart phone) and look at how small the tacks of solder are on the headphone jack to wire connection.
It is quite possible that the connection is starting to crack inside loose.
As a side note, when on a motorcycle or scooter it's better to have the phone held in a pocket or backpack then directly against the bike... there is a vibration absorption that happens through you from the bike... having it directly on the bike means the item is more directly vibrated continually.... and thus more likely to be damaged from vibrations.
Got the phone today and the jack doesnt work, unless i hold the plug in by hand.
Good thing i ran in to this thread or i wouldnt have checked it for a week.
Update:
Turns out that the jack is very stiff and i have to force the phone plug every single time in to the jack. It works fine, just very stiff.
