Hi guys,
I'm a bit tired of flashing custom ROMs, because they always have weird bugs, or huge battery drain, the phone gets too hot, etc. I've tried Fulmics (not the latest one because I don't like the G5 ported apps) and N&N 5.0.
So, what I would like to know is: is there a stock ROM flashable via TWRP, already with root?
If not, is it easy to root permanently and flash TWRP on the latest ROM for the D855?
Thanks .

Hello,
I always had a HTC, so I'm kind of a new with rooting and unlocking an LG.
I have a LG D855 international and I have been reading a lot in this forum and I think that I've figured it out. But I just wont to be sure.
So if I'm right than I can root my phone by running purpledrake. When I've done that I have to install SU.
But if I understand it correcly the only way to get twrp is with" Bump'ed TWRP" so it's only possible to have TWRP if I use a custom rom?
So it's not possible to have orig Rom an TWRP? Right?
But If I just root my phone with purpledrake, so without installing TWRP and without custom Rom, I would still be able to use EXPOSED? RIght?

Yes Purple Drake is currently the most reliable root method, once you have root you need to install the SuperSU app of your choice.
Don't confuse yourself with Bump! Just accept that this is the only recovery that works with the G3 and install it then use it like normal. You will only be able to flash custom kernels (and roms with custom kernels) after they have been bumped, this is something the developer will do for you not anything for you to be concerned with, and fairly soon (when this method is released) all custom roms and kernels you find on xda will be pre-bumped - so basically you can treat the recovery like you always have done.
Xposed is nothing to do with recovery and everything to do with having root access.
Does this recovery back up my stock rom safely? I'm hesitant to use it because I've never heard of bump.

Nope, afaik, once on bumped twrp, u can't restore stock recovery. For that you will again have to flash the stock KDZ.
OK so it's only for bumped roms. Thank you

The user above you is wrong and didnt read your question properly.
You CAN back up your stock ROM, just install bump, head to recovery and do a backup - you will never get stock recovery back though, unless you flash a KDZ with Flashtool.
But yes you can use TWRP to back up your currenty stock ROM.
Okay I get it the only way to restore the rom that I backed up is to add bump to it! ok I got it but in order to get back my stock phone I'm going to have to use the LG flash tool right

Hello, I have the T-Mobile LG G3 D851 and I've been trying to find the best configuration. I came from a Nexus 5 that I would either run stock 5.x or CM 12. The CM12 for LG G3 is great but it doesn't have a good camera.
Anyway, I've come to enjoy the stock firmware that LG puts on these phones. So here's what I want to accomplish, however I feel I cannot find enough information to do it confidently.
I would like the have TWRP installed with Stock Lollipop 20b, with root.
Can I just bump a TWRP image and use flashify or something to flash it? or dd?
I installed the 20b KDZ and rooted using the one click method, and that's how my phone sits currently.
From what I understand I need to downgrade to do something with the boot.img so that I can manually flash 20b with a bumped recovery? I'm not sure what bump really is entirely. Do I need to bump all TWRP images that I install? If bump is required for the G3, do they not come pre bumped?
I know that my first go around, I had flashed TWRP with flashify, then installed CM12 without any issues. So I'm wondering if this is just for stock ROMs or did they do something to the boot in 20b that would stop anything from installing without being bump'd?
I also noticed most of the bump'd threads don't list the d851 so I'm wondering if T-Mobile doesn't require this?
Keep in mind I've searched and read extensively and cannot come up with a clear picture of what to do. I've become too used to Nexus devices it seems :-\

D851 has unlocked bootloader. You don't need bump. Just flash twrp via trwo manager or get the inage and use flashify.

Great to know! Just used flashify and it worked like a charm
I'm currently rooted and bumped, twrp 2.8.5.0 and android 4.4.2
I was waiting for xposed to be available before upgrading, and am now thinking about using a newer 5.1 based ROM
What's the best upgrade method ? (Preferably giving me an option to switch back if I need to )
I like the idea of multirom, but I've got the 16gb version so space is at a premium

Depends on what you want? Do you want AOSP or Stock ROM
Aosp is fine, but what would be the difference between the two v methods ?

Nothing too significant
AOSP you would install from KitKat and then install most of the lollipop system partitions after if necessary
Stock Rom you would just OTA or Flash Lollipop KDZ and then root
Thanks, I'll look at this today.
easiest way to get to LP is by getting your current firmware from here: http://lg-firmware-rom.com/
then upgrade to that kdz from with lg flash tool 2014, from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2797190
then root with this tool: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/guide-root-lg-firmwares-kitkat-lollipop-t3056951
then, use an appropriate method correlating to your model number. try imageprep.
I'd suggest restoring, not upgrading to LP.
to roll back, you can of course create a nandroid before all this. move it to your ext_sd card before any flashing, too.
as for xposed, it says it's in alpha, but i haven't encountered a single issue with it and i've been running it for a good month+. tweaksbox works like a charm too.
as for multirom, i've never tried it, so can't speak for it.
Hi ,
I am new here , I have a lg g3 d852 ( Canadian version ) on rogers network. I am currently on the lolipop 5.0.1 and this sucks. The phone lags and the battery drains quick. I was just wondering if I could get some input on how to install a good rom which is stable , no lag and good battery . I dont want to mess up the phone. I guess i need to back up my data first , then root the phone and then install a new rom. I was thinking just to got back to kitkat 4.4 but is there a better rom right now. any suggestions would be great thanks

Yeah okay... So if you want a new ROM proceed with rooting your device, you have plenty of guides around, since you are on lollipop follow with installing benders autorec (http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/apk-flash-twrp-autorec-thanks-to-t3081396), flash TWRP with it, flash new ROM.
Or solution two without installing bedners autorec: restore to kitkat via kdz, root, flash bumped twrp for your device.
For custom ROMs I would recommend you Blisspop. UI interracition is flawless, the moment you click something, you get it, no lag.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/development/rom-blisspop-v2-0-ls990-t3022685
For stock based ROMs I would recommend you Cloudy. It has laggs on UI same as the stock one, but it's debloated and pretty much better then stock one in my experience.

Happy flashing and best of luck. DO backups! Always!

What have you tried already?
I suggest this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/guide-root-lg-firmwares-kitkat-lollipop-t3056951
If you failed with every root method you found here on xda what you could do is revert to older firmware via kdz, which wont be patched and you will be able to root your device.
revert to stock
hi , i dont know what the stock rom was, when i turned on my lg g3 for the first time , just started to update the android software. I was thinking to downgrade to 4.4 kitkat, but dont you have to root the phone to downgrade.
Any links to downgrade from 5.0.1 lollipop to kitkat 4.4 or 4.2. , so from there i would follow the instructions to root the phone . any suggestions would be great thanks

If all root methods from xda failed for you revert to stock via kdz. You don't need root for that.

My phone is LG G3 D855 international model and I recently have upgraded it to android 6.0. However I am quite disappointed with the performance to its performance and would like to downgrade it to the older version like android 4.4 so as for easy root of the phone and flash fulmics rom. And a problem comes out- I cant downgrade it officially ! No matter I am flashing in tot files or kdz files, I can't downgrade. So I tried to root it directly and no matter what method suggested in the net , I failed to root my phone. Errors, errors, and errors...I am enough with errors and would like to ask for help in order to solve my problem. I genuinely want to flash the fulmic rom into my phone! My phone lags so much!!!!

Do you want to make a clean downgrade to Android Kitkat from Marshmallow? From what I see, you're root. If you do not have recovery installed, you can install the official app of TWRP which does install the recovery. After that, download Kitkat official rom in format zip (look in xda threads) and formats your rom from the recovery. For example, the name of the rom for my variant (Lg g3 D851) is D85120G-Rom_Untouched_Stock_Restore.zip
