How to update to stock marshmallow from custom rom? - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys..
I've been on cyanogenmod cm 12.1 for about six months now.. And completely out of touch with the entire process
So I'm s-on and wanted to go back to stock marshmallow from cm12.1
Which is the best way to go About it? Would really appreciate any help/advice.
Thank you so much!

Relock your bootloader and run your RUU (hopefully you have a RUU for your device). Make sure your MID and CID match to that of your RUU. You are back to complete stock (Marshmallow).

A RUU would be an ideal start.
To better assist, how exactly did you get CM12.1 on that HTC to begin with? I'm s-off so I have no idea whether there are more or less steps involved.
I want to make sure the info I dig up applies to your situation and device. Take your time to gather any details you recall.

Awesome! Thank you! Any link to where I can get the right ruu mate? Thanks a lot!

That depends on which device you have. What is the MID/CID of your device?

RUU's can be downloaded directly from HTC.

Post the results of fastboot getvar all. Make sure to delete the serial# and IMEI from your post (that's private info)
With your getvar it will be easiest to direct you on the proper RUU for your device.

Here is the 4.16.401.10 RUU. This will take you back to stock so that you can receive the Marshmallow OTA.
Download that to your PC, then hook up your phone. Since you are S-On, you will need to relock your bootloader first. In fastboot: fastboot oem lock
Then double click on the RUU.exe that you downloaded and follow the prompts.
After you are back to stock, check in settings > about > software updates. You should get an OTA to update to Marshmallow. It might not come right away. Be patient. It might take a couple of days to receive the OTA notification.
Good luck!

As you can see, my CID is "HTC_332" and my version-main: 1.57.599.1. I installed a custom recovery (TWRP) and I forgot to backup my stock recovery now I can't receive OTA updates (doubting that I receive something as my phone is from Latin America...).
The thing is I have download a 1.54.401.10 nandroid backup and also the 1.54.401.10 stock recovery (both from Europe), my phone has bootloader unlock and S-ON. I was able to do a restored from a nandroid backup and also flash the stock recovery (also both from Europe). After this my phone is working just fine, still on my bootloader shows "TAMPERED" and "Unlocked".
Well my question is this, after doing this am I going to be able to receive OTA's updates even if my phone has CID from Latin America (htc_332) ?
It is going to affect something because I flashed an Europe Firmware and stock recovery on my phone?
What is the difference between Firmware 1.57.599.1 and 1.54.401.10? (which one is better or which one you guys recommend?)
Thanks in advance for any info.

You will receive OTA but it will fail the verification and you won't be able to install it.
What you have now is same as you flash a custom ROM. No working OTA for your device.
You can only do OTA with your own stock ROM and stock Recovery.

Thank you for the Quick respond, is there a way to get the stock recovery for my version-main: 1.57.599.1?
What about if I change my CID to SuperCID will be able to receive OTA updates with the European Stock ROM?
I don't see anywhere stock recovery 1.57.599.1, only see one backup.
You can only change to SuperCID when your device is S-Off.
To receive and install European OTA, you need S-Off then change to any EU CID (a few of them) or SuperCID and change your MID currently 0P6B16000 to 0P6B10000

Hi Folks,
I just S-OFF my HTC One M8, Change my MID to 0P6B10000 install a stock rom (1.54.401.10) and also its Stock Recovery. After that I remove the tampered and the unlock notification, I ran the "Check Update"and SCORE!!! I receive an OTA Update. Now my question is this: If I change my MID to the Unlocked one (0P6B12000) Do I will receive OTAS anyways? (even if my bootloader is unlocked and my phone is rooted)
Thanks again.

IMEI is personal information, and you do NOT want it posted on the internet. You really should delete it from the first post.

You will be, as long as MID, CID and stock ROM (as well as FW of course) you installed all match each other, as those things are what the OTA server is going to check and match.

Your MID don't has to be changed, as it is the HTC WWE MID. and with superCID you definitely will receive OTA.
HTC WWE is in fact the best MID you could have, as far as I can imagine

[HELP] Wanted to unroot, tried a procedure and many problems. Please help.

Hello guys, so today i decided to unroot my phone and go back to stock because i want to sell it. I started doing theunlockr.com method (http://theunlockr.com/2014/06/08/how-to-unroot-the-htc-one-m8-video/) in the step of flashing stock nandroid backup, i flashed it using TWRP restore utility, then i didnt find any folder in the gallery and there was around 5 out of 16 GB avaialible only, so i did a "fromat data", since it erases everything, i pushed the firmware 4.16.401.10 using ADB into the TWRP folder (it wasnt there so i created a backup and there i found it). Then i restored the nandroid backup, now there are 4.5GB used which i cant find and some folders still dont appear in file manager... and i have wifi issues, it doesnt connect to wifi and neither does mobile data work. I need help as soon as possible. ANy help is MUCH apprecciated. Than you guys. and if there is any other way to completely unroot hope someone would help.
PS, i am planning to flash stock recovery, its just i want to fix the current problemss then i can flash stock recovery and lock the bootloader.
Need more info. Do an adb getvar all, but remember to delete your IMEI and serial number (those are personal data) before you post the output.

The easiest way to go back to stock is to run the appropriate RUU.
Download this RUU onto your PC.
When the download if finished, hook your phone up to your PC and double click on the download.
Follow the prompts.
Super easy.
This will bring you back to stock including your stock recovery. It will also wipe your phone.

You are already S-On, and will remain that way.
The only differences from the day you bought it will be that the bootloader is unlocked, and the the stock ROM is the latest Android version (5.0.1 Lollipop instead of 4.4.2 Jellybean), just as it would be if you had remained stock and updated through the OTA updates from HTC and your carrier.

Without S-Off (which costs $25), you can only set it to re-locked status and not locked, so I wouldn't bother.

From your getvar. Hook up to your PC, get into ADB, and enter adb getvar all.
Post the readout here. Edit out your IMEI and serial# from it first. That is private information that you should never post on a public forum.
EDIT: I saw your bootloader readout in the thread you started. There is no RUU available for your device (Vodafone) that I am aware of. Sorry.

Without S-Off (which costs $25), you can only set it to re-locked status and not locked, so I wouldn't bother.
Yes, your problems should be fixed.

Error 155, I guess you'll need to re-lock your bootloader after all.
fastboot oem lock , then run the RUU again.

WiFi issues since flashing latest ARHD

I followed the instructions fine and never hit a snag, upgrading from Android 4.4.4 stock but rooted to the latest ARHD running Android 5.0.1. I'm not sure if the issue is related to the lollipop update or the rom but once my phone screen locks I lose my WiFi connection. I can go into WiFi and see the available networks, select my one and click connect but nothing happens, the only way to get WiFi working again is to restart the phone which is becoming really frustrating. I have tried forgetting the network then re adding it too but the issue remains. Anyone else had this problem or know of a fix?
On a less annoying note when iIstart up it first acts like it's loafing bootloader with the red text at the bottom of the screen then restarts itself and boots fine.

Your HTC is WWE and your bootloader is at 3.19 so i suggest to restore a stock backup from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3086860
Take the 4.16.401.10, that will work. And if you also put back the stock recovery you can also perform official OTA updates.

Im now back to stock, running the latest firmware - no more updates available and though it was fixed but the wifi has just dropped out and had to restart to get it back (I can see the network it just will not connect). Does this mean it is a Lollipop issue?

Post the current getvar all.
Also, you should delete the serial number from your last getvar all (and the new one, of course) as that is personal info.
You may need to OTA again. I think some OTAs had WiFi broken, even on fully stock devices; and it was fixed on a subsequent OTA.
If you restore a backup 4xx10 and made Ota to 4xx13 he did not update the firmware. Must restore the backup 3xxx and make ota. This will solve the problems with wifi.

I was thinking along those lines (why I asked for updated getvar data) as the radio number indicates 3.xx firmware.
But I am surprised up updated at all, with the improper (old) firmware.
I do not see any other reason malfunction wifi, in addition to hardware failure.
The last ota was not large, so it may be that it could be downloaded. Let's wait author may write off something that already everything is running or not

Rooted HTC One m8 Lollipop to Marshmallow

Hi. I read up on various threads and could not find the correct tutorial or method for this?
My HTC One m8 is rooted, unlocked, S-On, and running Lollipop with a GPE ROM.
I would like to upgrade to Marshmallow.
What is the easiest method to do so? No thread I've stumbled upon appears to be what I am looking for, but then again I'm awful at this stuff and also just kind of cautious because I've run into many issues in this kind of work and I just want to make sure I am on the right path.
Thanks, everyone.

As mentioned, my phone is S-ON, and the link warns that in order to flash the latest firmware, I need to be S-OFF.
Is there another way?
If you're going to tell me I need S-OFF, I should mention I have tried, countless times and hours, to achieve S-OFF, with my friends too, and we just could not manage to get my phone to S-OFF.
So an S-ON method would be awesome.

Excellent. Thank you!
So, to refresh my memory:
1. Download the ROM on my Mac
2. Put my phone into bootloader and connect USB
3. Wipe everything?
4. Flash the ROM
5. Success?

Yep, but do not flash the SU in recovery if it asks if you want to. It will cause you to lose root, if the ROM you are using already has a patched kernel for root.

I think you want the RUU for 4.18.708.12, if such RUU exists. I don't know if it exists or not, but this at least give you a starting point to look (seems like you were somewhat guessing before).

Don't think 4.18.708.12 RUU exists.
If your bootloader is unlocked ... you can install TWRP 2.8.7.0 then restore 4.18.708.12 stock non-rooted backup and install 4.18.708.12 stock recovery.img then do OTA to Marshmallow 6.16.708.1

I agree, if there is no RUU for the version, than the way forward is to restore a stock TWRP backup. Unlocked bootloader is required.
