Mi pad with killer hardware requires a good support of software. - Supported Devices

It's been over a year mi pad released, today GOOGLE released android N but mi pad is still running on kitkat.
Considering the hardware part it is a very good handset, but coming to sofware part it is laging far behind.
With the latest SOFTWARE (or) OS this device will perform far better than nexus tablets.
I think xiaomi will never update mi pad.
Can we expect any support from RemixOs for mi pad?

i remember that xiaomi said more than 1 time that MIUI is a moded kitkat OS maybe that why there is no update; you may look in there website I suppose

Best phone to upgrade to from Mi5/MI5S?

I've had an MI5 for a couple years and the screen is cracked and close to dying. I was thinking of buying an MI5S as a replacement but feel like I could get a better phone as it's TOO similar to my trusty MI5 even.
My specific, additional criteria includes it being similarly sized (height/thickness) to the MI5/MI5S (to fit my mobile phone holder). After searching GSMArena, it returned around 8 phones. Most of them were cheap phones that were also released in 2016. The one exception was the original Google Pixel. The spec seems similar to the MI5/MI5S but the fingerprint scanner on the back is a deal breaker. So with that, I'd be prepared to open up the choice of phones a bit more. It must be able to run LineageOS and still be getting updates (future releases are never guaranteed, I understand). Any recommended phones (or just get the MI5S)?
I would go for the newer Mi6, because it has an optical image stabilizer like the Mi5, which the Mi5s sadly lacks.
The Mi6 also has a way faster CPU than the Mi5s. Don't forget, the Mi5s is now nearly 2 years old.
Indeed, price difference is minimal, so go with better options like the Mi6. Mi Note 3 and Mi Mix 2 are also friendly priced recently.
Thanks for the suggestions so far. I didn't consider the Mi6 and a few other Xiaomi phones becasuse I was using an old GSMarena saved search where I specified band 28 had to be in the phone, but I don't actually need that band now.
Aaargh, the Mi6 (and upcoming 6X), Mi Note 3 and Mi Mix 2 all don’t have headphone jacks (the headphone adapters aren’t going to cut it)! Curse you Apple. We knew it was coming, I guess. They’re all a similar size to my old phone at least and fit the phone holder as well.
Mi Mix 2 looks like it will get updated for some time but that's starting to get heavy (185 g/6.53 oz) too:
https://www.lineageosrom.com/2018/01/xiaomi-devises-getting-android-p.html
The Nokia 8 actually looks very good value with same CPU as the Mi Mix 2 (and similar weight) but with the headphone jack, but the Lineage devs are waiting on the bootloader to be unlockable for that.
I think I’ll have to wait. At least I have a better idea of what I’m looking for. Would be nice if the stats.lineageos.org site showed the newer phones’ popularity/trend in another table.
Mm, you have a point there. The Mi Note 2 or the original Mi Mix maybe? The upcoming Redmi Note 5 (with the SD636) is also promising to be a good deal. Otherwise some Nubia (Z17 lite for instance) and maybe even LeTV phones with a custom ROM might be worth a look (although I'm not sure about the build quality from LeTV). Just check the XDA thread of the device beforehand and always stick to Qualcomm processors as Mediatek gives crap support to both producers and ROM developers.

Thanks for those. Mi Note 2 and orignial Mi Mix are a bit old (hey, one of the earlier posts has made me only look at 2017 or later phones). The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro phone is a bit heavy at around 180gm (my 64gb Mi5 is 129gb).
The LeTv/LeEco phnoe have two, more-recent releases that look reasonable but from those the LeEco Le Pro3 Elite has the same chipset as my Mi5 and the LeEco Le Pro 3 AI Edition has a Mediatek chipset (taking your advice on ruling out phones with those).
The Zubia Z17 lite looks a decent option (168gms is getting up there is weight) but just saw its finger print scanner is rear-mounted too.
Will keep looking!
On the 24. April Xiaomi will present the new Mi 6X. Details so far unknown, but will probably be the successor of the Mi 6.

No separate 3.5mm/headphone jack. Looks nice though. I refuse to get wireless earphones or use any dongle. I bought some nice wired earphones not too long ago.
Sounds like the Mi7 might be out sometime this year too (but, again, probably won't have a 3.5mm/headphone jack).

ARcore

I'm surprised that s7/edge and OnePlus 3T are officially supported since they are 2 years old phones, but my mi mix 2 which is 6 months, isn't... Do we have like an unofficial port or something?
ARCore on the Mi Mix 2
I don't think it is hardware related, as you mentioned the S7 and other older phones and cheaper segment got support. Some wrote on the Google camera topic in the forum that the latest version of ARCore 1.3 supports it. I downloaded the app and then tried some of the apps on the Google Store and I couldn't even download them as the devise didn't support it. Hopefully it will officially be supported and not forgotten. On the contrary the Mix 2s and Mi 8 are officially supported.
Cheers

ZUK Z2 Plus or Mi 5 Prime

Zuk z2 plus!
This phone has a pretty good camera, UIis crap for stock but sexy on custom ROMs
Sent from my ZUK Z2 Plus using XDA Labs
I haven't own or used or even ever seen a Mi 5 Prime.
I have owned / used (rather using) Mi Note 5 Pro, Mi Note 4 and I have seen hands on (friends and family) Mi A1, Mi 4A / 5A and Note 5. I am also using Zuk Z2 Plus.
Now based on this experience and judging from above mentioned Xiaomi devices, I would chose Mi 5 over Z2 Plus. Reasons ?
Better Camera, since Mi 5 seems to be having 16MK with OIS. OIS does make a hell lot of difference.
Certified support for QC 3.0. Though Z2 Plus does support QC but that's via Custom ROM and an uncharted trial and error territory.
MiUi. Personally I hate it, but I can't deny the frequency of update Xiaomi has. Always uptodate security patches plus they update even their 5 year old devices to latest android version, not just security patches !!
Support for Custom ROM. Though both ZUK and Xiaomi are in same place here, for their wide range of custom rom, but combined with above mentioned points, Mi5 would be my choice !!

its 3/64g only. I'm having hard time with MIUI and I can't even apply for an unlock for my device.
That's why im looking at the ZUK Z2.

This is a different issue. Your personal issue with Mi 5 Prime which you already have. But as device wise, I would prefer Mi 5 Prime over Z2 Plus as in overall.
MiUi is full of ads, yes some bugs, but at least they are on steroid with their update cycle I see. My note 5 pro isn't yet a week old, got 10GB update lol. Started with 9.5.x, did, 9.5.11/.13/.14/.15 and now doing 9.2.6. Compare that to Z2 Plus, released with Android 6.0, got one update to nougat, ZUI 2.5 and there it stopped. No patch, no nothing.
If we compare bugs, MiUi is no where close to what ZUI 2.5 had for us.

Andoid One 10 discussion thread.

Last generation Android Pie was launched on August 8 and around November 27 the Mi A2 Lite received the Pie update. This year, Android 3 is rumored to launch on September 3 and would probably come to Mi A2 Lite in the following months.
Will you upgrade the day it launches or will you wait a while longer before updating?
In this thread we will discuss news, bugs and solutions for the new upcoming Android 10 update.
Update:
Android 10 was finally launched and updates for Pixel devices started rolling out. Also, Xiaomi is not far behind releasing day one update for the Xiaomi K20 Pro (MIUI//China//India).
Since MIUI is a heavy skinned Android version we can't be sure yet about any bugs in Android 10 for the Android One program. Stay tuned.

With this phone, I think I've been in the lucky part of users (never had big bug or blocking issue all along updates)
But I will definitely do the same as for Android 9 :
Wait at least one or two weeks, and use this time for browsing forums likes XDA before taking a decision...
And I agree with you, system wide dark mode seems to be the more interesting feature (with native screen recording)
As i love Always to test new
I'll install the new os when it release
I will since I'm hoping they fix a bug in which the bluetooth and the wi-fi can't work together because wi-fi slows.

I never experienced that bug in Android Pie. I always keep both on since Bluetooth connects to my smartwatch and car and I never bother turning off wi-fi. Wi-Fi works normal at decent speeds.
Mi A2 Lite 4/64 model.
Any idea if enabled Camera2 API will survive the update to Android 10?
How about the prior update from Oreo to Pie with enabled Camera2 API? Does it still work afterwards?
I strongly hope they fixed all those Bluetooth issues
Has anybody installed the GSI?
This image was found on a subreddit for Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite. This seems like good news since it was posted about 8 days ago.
Maybe we should expect Android 10 in the October update.

That's just like... uhm, your opinion. This is a discussion thread and ... guess what, people discuss.
The K20 Pro received the Android One 10 update on September 24. The K20 runs on Android One unlike the 9T which runs on MIUI.
This means that the Android One 10 is now ready, it just needs to be tweaked for every supported Android One device. As we see until now, the Mi A2 will get it first, about 1-2 weeks prior to the Mi A2 Lite. That's what we have to check out, the global version of Mi A2 official forums.
For example the screen rotation glitch was knows 2 weeks prior from we getting it on our Lites. When we got our update, surprise, the screen rotation glitch... And it took them 1 more increment to fix that problem for both devices.

And where is the beta program? It has not started yet. An update without it is unlikely.
On the global MIUI forum (also from customer support) there was information that Android 10 will appear for us in November. If the beta program starts in October, it will be likely.
It should be remembered that MI A3 will have a priority in update, and the beta program did not start for this model.

Android 10 had a Google beta program, not OEM beta program. Xiaomi was in the program from the beginning. The Android 10 Beta Program ended in August with Beta 6.

Looks like no more Xiaomi Android One Phones ? No Mi A4 etc

https://www.bgr.in/news/xiaomi-mi-a...ls-quits-on-making-android-one-phones-906947/
Real shame if this is true.... Guess I will be looking at the new Nexus 4a, or a Moto for my next phone as pure android is the best.
Mind you I think Xiaomi gave up on their Android One phones some time ago, my Mi A2 Lite has become extremely sluggish in the last six months.
That news is false see the screenshot below:
