G3 bootloader is locked and there is no unlock method except bump

The G3's bootloader is locked, no matter which variant you have.
The only reason we have TWRP working and all is because of an exploit named Bump!
Basically, it signs the images so the bootloader allows them to be run.

@Ariac Konrel well that's bull****. D851 = T-Mobile version is just fine and unlocked.
About the other versions yes they are all locked. Perhaps to verify it if you really want you could go to fastboot and input command: fastboot oem device-info
What I get with the command is this:
< waiting for device >
...
(bootloader) Device tampered: false
(bootloader) Device unlocked: false
(bootloader) Charger screen enabled: false
OKAY [ 0.023s]
finished. total time: 0.024s

I'm using a D855 variant (international), I just flashed it, root it, get custom recoveries days ago ..and I'm using CyanogenMod 13 now.. Does that mean its bootloader's unlocked ?!

[Resolved] OEM Unlocking disabled on Google Store purchased phone

EDIT: Resolved: While the OS had said it was up-to-date when I originally checked. It was not. After a bit of time it alerted me that an update was available. After updating the OS the OEM Unlocking option was no longer disabled.
I purchased a Pixel XL specifically from Google Store because I wanted to receive either an bootloader unlocked or bootloader unlockable phone without resorting to any hacks that may not work in the future. It just arrived and I enabled Developer Options and enabled USB Debugging. However, the OEM Unlocking option is off and disabled (greyed).
I booted into the bootloader, it shows as locked. If I try to unlock it I get:
>fastboot flashing unlock
...
FAILED (remote: oem unlock is not allowed)
finished. total time: 0.051s
If I try to flash it with the temporary TWRP boot up image:
>fastboot boot <path-to>\twrp-3.0.2-0-alpha2-fastboot-marlin.img"
downloading 'boot.img'...
OKAY [ 0.874s]
booting...
(bootloader) Command is not supported.
(bootloader) Please unlock device to enable this command.
FAILED (remote failure)
finished. total time: 0.975s
I'd appreciate any suggestions for proceeding. Thank you.

Did you go into Developer options is Settings and enable OEM unlocking first? If you don't have Developer Options in settings go to Settings/About Phone and then tap Build Number a bunch of times to enable it.

Thanks for your help ilatimer1, but I have resolved it now. I had edited the original post to indicate this but probably should have followed up at the end for your sake. I was just trying to avoid bumping it. At the time I asked the question, I mentioned that that option was disabled.
When I originally setup the phone I didn't enter WiFi data since I knew a factory reset would occur when I unlocked the bootloader. However, as a result of this, I didn't get alerted to the presence of an OS update. Ultimately, I setup WiFi and discovered the availability of an update. I proceeded to update and the OEM Unlocking feature then became enabled. Thanks again.
I unwapped and went stright to fastboot. didn't know update needed. thanks
Same issue unresolved
When I go into developer options OEM unlocking is still greyed out even after I downloaded the software update. Any leads on what to do?

The Pixels purchased from Verizon do not have unlockable bootloaders, so the switch will stay greyed out. If it is still on 7.0, you can use dPixel8 to bypass and unlock the bootloader. If you updated to 7.1.1, you are stuck with a locked bootloader.

so there is no solution if Ive already updated to 7.1.1?
any chance a solution will open up in the future?
No there no solution right now. I wouldn't say there's absolutely no chance of finding another exploit, this is XDA after all, but I wouldn't count on it.

No. That's for Nexus devices not Pixels anyway.
Mine is in off position but once selected, it asks for pin. Bought through google and on at&t. Only thing I can think of is that I put sim that was still on contract from my Nexus 6. Maybe contact at&t?

The Allow OEM Unlocking switch asks for a PIN? Do you have a PIN set up for the lockscreen? I'm guessing that's what it's asking for. Your contract status with ATT has nothing to do with the bootloader status. If you think so, just try it without your SIM card in it.

unlockable oem unlock

Hello everyone,
This is my first post, so I apologize for bad English.
I have a problem when unlocking the bootloader of my z2 force, I am not able to enable the oem unlock in "programmer". Has anyone been through this and knows how to solve it ?
Have you got unlock key from Motorola?

May I have the same problem.
I din't go this step yet.
The "Allow OEM Unlock" on my Developer Options appears unavaliabe/grayed, with a message below like: "connect to the internet or contact your carrier".
To be honest, I don't pretend to unlock it now, but I usually make experiences with ROMs and things-like when my device become old and still working after I get a new one.

Did you get "OEM UNLOCK" tickeable again or is it still greyed out?
Edit: Just wait 7 days... or Change your system date to 8 days ago And search for an update, then restart your phone, fix the date, search for an update and restart again.
I still can not enable the OEM unlock is in gray, as I can enable it since I want to install an official rom and I fear that a poblema

You don't need to unlock your bootloader to flash stock (official) ROMs, but you can not downgrade without OEM unlock.
Try to change your system date to 8 days ago, restart and search for official updates on config menu. Restart again, change the date for today and search again for an update. Restart third time and see if OEM unlock is tickable... That's what I did..
I already do it and nothing, so I intend to install the manual ROM and I do not know if it can be installed without unlocking the botloader

Are you able to flash a stock official firmware? If so, flash the latest firmware for your variant, do a factory reset afterwards, then check to see if oem unlocking is restored in developer options.

I Didn't understand what you said. Don't you know which rom is installed? Just see the name/version on config/about. If you are on a custom ROM, you already have an unlocked bootloader.
If you want to be sure. Just flash the latest stock version to your model and flash without unlocking your bootloader.

No, it's not necessary unlocked bootloader to flash stock ROMs. Locked bootloader's will block a downgrade attempt. If you are flashing the same version or a new one, you are blgoot to go. Nothing to worry. The unlocked bootloader is recommended so you can downgrade or install a custom recovery if something goes wrong.

What does your flashfile.bat look like? Maybe you ask in the other thread if someone has a working flashall. Then go from there. I have a suspicion that you have the famous false locked bootloader, but that can only be confirmed by trying to flash an official stock firmware. I have an idea on how to remedy that if that is indeed the case. First though, you should try and find a proper flashall for your firmware, ask in this thread. Someone there should have what you need. That thread deal specifically with your variant, so most anything you need will come from there.

This "slots" fails is all about the new a/b slots format present on Oreo ROMs.I believe this fail occurs because you are on nougat ROM.
Anyway. The important files to flash is partition/bootloader/boot/system/modem... Those can't be failed.
If you are struggling with using flashaal.bat, you can do command individually.Try send a message on technical's guide.

Anyone know how to unlock the LM-G850QM version?
Can't seem to find a way yet.
How do you lock the bootloader?
I bought an unlocked LG G8 ThinQ US Cellular version here in HK. Works perfectly fine but I receive the bootloader is unlocked message when loading up. As a result (or at least I think it's linked), when I try and install any banking app for Citibank on my phone, it insists my phone is rooted and I cannot use it. I have checked with as many different apps as possible and they all insist that the phone is not rooted. I don't need/want the phone to be rooted and I want the banking app to work on my phone, so I am trying to lock the bootloader. Apparently, this is doable using ADB and loading in fastboot, unfortunately, I cannot load the phone into fastboot mode. Any ideas on how I can lock the bootloader as it's not clear how it was unlocked in the first place? The version I have is LMT600US.
Also, if anyone knows whether locking the bootloader will somehow render my phone unusable - that would also be helpful as I clearly don't want to do that? :good:

Well, you can first try to install magisk manager and try to enable magisk hide (the default settings for play services and for your banking apps). If it says you don't have magisk, make sure you try and backup your boot img first and then click direct install. You can also hide magisk manager in settings. If you still don't pass safety net, clear data for Google apps and look up the pxl4xlprops module
I have an LM-G810EAW with Android 10 (V20a-EEA-XX) and tried to unlock the bootloader. Got unlock.bin from LG and tried to flash it, but got the message:

I need Lg up & Dll for my lg g8 s LM-G820N

Is it possible to flash the factory unlocked firmware to an ATT phone?

Hi all, just got myself an open box Razr for a good price. Unfortunately whilst the phone was described as being a factory unlocked model, it's an ATT variant (XT2071-2). I'm already having ATT unlock the phone for use on my carrier, as it does seem to be eligible for it, but I was wondering if there's any way to flash the stock factory unlocked firmware once I get it carrier unlocked. Not to keen on keeping the ATT bloat on it.
Thanks I'm advance guys.
edit: Also I'm not a stranger to simple and stuff and bootloader unlocking, so I'm entirely willing to go that route if it means no carrier bloat lol .
I'm not sure if the AT&T variant is able to be bootloader unlocked, but if so, it should be able to be cross flashed, I'm currently running the SoftBank Android 11 update on my T-Mobile XT2071-5, without any issues.

Thanks for the reply man. I went ahead and checked and the ATT version is bootloader unlockable. Honestly though ATT is giving me trouble with unlocking this phone so I may not end up going through with the flash. In the case that they do unlock it, may I ask where you'd get the other software versions and how you flash them?
lolinet mirrors - firmware, software, iso etc.

Flash using mfastboot

That's not true! The AT&T device loader cannot be unlocked. Moreover, it is not even possible to get the code with the oem get_unlock_data command:
Code:
C:\adb>fastboot oem get_unlock_data
(bootloader) Failed to get unlock data.
OKAY [ 0.007s]
Finished. Total time: 0.008s

I confirm that AT&T model XT2071-2 even if sim unlocked can't be cross flashed to different firmware (like XT2071-3, XT2071-4, etc) since XT2071-2 model have locked bootloader and it doesn't qualify for Motorola bootloader unlock program.
I have Razr 2020 AT&T sim unlocked phone, 'oem get_unlock_data command' run succesfully, but generated code was not accepted my Motorola for bootloader unlock key. That is common story for carrier exclusive Motorola models (AT&T, Verizon).
Appreciate responce if anyone aware of other possible options to unlock unlockable bootloader. I recall for old Droid models there was some paid alternatives to get phone fully unlocked.
Thanks,
This phone is a black hole. I tried everything to unlock this night couldn't even get fast boot going. And I've been doing this since the milestone

Question Install stock RETUS firmware on tracfone variant?

I recently purchased a Tracfone (StraightTalk from Walmart) Moto E 2020
I immediately noticed this device had bloatware on it, and want to install the "RETUS" or retail "stock" firmware like you'd find on one purchased directly from Motorola
So I installed ADB and the Motorola drivers on my computer and attempted to flash the stock firmware I downloaded and got these errors
sending 'recovery_a' (65536 KB)...
OKAY [ 1.436s]
writing 'recovery_a'...
(bootloader) *****************************************************
(bootloader) WARNING: Flashing vbmeta image is required prior to
(bootloader) flashing recovery image.
(bootloader) *****************************************************
(bootloader) flash permission denied
sending 'super' (262140 KB)...
OKAY [ 5.759s]
writing 'super'...
(bootloader) *****************************************************
(bootloader) WARNING: Flashing vbmeta image is required prior to
(bootloader) flashing super image.
(bootloader) *****************************************************
(bootloader) flash permission denied
FAILED (remote failure)
finished. total time: 6.333s
as you can see, it says "Flash permission denied"
the screen on the phone reports OEM_locked for the bootloader status
I then thought the bootloader needed to be unlocked, so I went to the Motorola site for unlocking the bootloader and it said that this device's bootloader isn't unlockable
So now I'm stuck with an issue, am I doing something wrong or is there some workaround to get the retail stock firmware on this device?
If not, is there a way I can root this device to remove the Tracfone bloatware?
If I can't do anything and am stuck with the Tracfone image I may just return it
The Tracfone variant of these phones come with bloatware like the important sounding "Mobile Services" which started downloading and installing apps like TikTok and Facebook and "Game Center" and stuff without my permission or ever even opening up the app the moment my device connected to WiFi which thankfully I was able to disable and then uninstall the apps it installed, however the "Device Pulse" app which Tracfone installs to give themselves remote diagnostics to your phone isn't disableable which sucks
Followup after conducting my own research, yep the bootloader is NOT unlockable, and this prevents you from both rooting the device or switching the firmware out for something else.
To anyone who is wanting to purchase one of these devices, I'd avoid the Tracfone StraightTalk/Total Wireless, etc. versions entirely
my own experience with a boost version from walmart was that though it was not listed on the motorola website as supported for bootloader unlocking, I tried following their process/webform anyway, and they did give me a bootloader unlock code which did work for mine.
It's not rooting, but it helps stop the bleed:

disable startup of apps

Well that's the exact model I have and I just successfully unlocked my bootloader... Seriously, it's now unlocked.

Just looke, one post on the site, and nothing since. Unlikely to ever be back.
Given that, what is the purpose of Tracfone locking the bootloader for a phone they will never get a penny of revenue?
