I recently got the HTC10 like many of us and on finding out there are basically no tempered glass screen protectors went looking for a plastic one instead. I came across this one, http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01CIZSANS/ref=cm_sw_r_other_udp_apa_fzUoxbS8HEW8F
The claims it made sounded great; anti-glare, anti-fingerprint and of course anti-bubble.
I've not had much chance to "test" it needless to say I dislike it already.
Anti-bubble it is not. Bubbles got in, after cleaning screen etc, and are near impossible to remove. The bank card I used kept digging in to the protector, didn't matter which angle I applied pressure.
There's a strange snow effect which distracts and significantly reduces clarity.
The positives so far are that it's a nice, soft touch material. It feels like it can withstand scratches easily. Unsure about a drop but I am definitely not testing that.
Cutouts are well placed and only obstruct the light and proximity sensor.
I've ordered spigen branded, they'll be replacing this protector. Phone's screen is protected, that's what matters for now.

Maybe, I followed instructions to the letter.
This is just my experience with it, others will probably be different.
I think most of the issues are down to it being matte instead of clear. I think a different plastic is used too, it wasn't as solid as others I've use in the past.

IQ Shield is also a liquid application screen protector, and I prefer their stuff over Skinomi. With that said. when I use these liquid application screen protectors, I go through the same method as I do with tempered glass.
I apply the screen protector in a really steamy bathroom so to decrease the chances of lint under the screen. I also apply a little bit of the liquid solution on my fingertips and on the front and back of the protector to make application easier. Once that parts done, these liquid screen protectors should be relatively easy to apply (unless you're using a full body one, which can be somewhat difficult). I didn't have any bubbles in mine using this method, and I did a full body wrap. Takes some finesse, but the time and price is well worth it.
If this is a liquid apply protector and you just put it on you'll need to give it time to cure and the liquid to evap. Some but not the big bubbles will go away and the clarity should get a lot better.

I followed their steps to the tee, and after 24 hours of application the skin looks excellent. Fitment is also perfect. This is 4th phone I have skinomi matte screen protector on, so it's not my first time doing it.

I've always found that it's best not to even attempt to smooth out all the small bubbles. The most important thing is patience.
It'll look like crap for the first 48 hours and may even take 5 or 6 days for the haze to go, but it will go. The more you faff around with it, the worse it will look in the end.

To round this out.
I swapped the matte one for a standard clear type one from Spigen.
Difference is night and day. Screen significantly clearer and brighter.
Application was easier overall.
Barely notice it's on the screen.
Doesn't cover as much of the screen as the Skinomi is the main negative.

If you`re going to get a new protector anyway, use sticky tape to pull up the protector and pad the affected areas with another bit of tape looped on your fingertip to remove the dust. underneath.

Screen protector video of Skinomi. Bought off from Amazon for $18.95 free S/H. highly recommend one. why risk damaging your beautiful 10.1'' screen??
http://www.amazon.com/Skinomi-TechS...1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1299374686&sr=8-1
Why not just go to the skinomi website use the "get25" that gives you 25% off and free shipping?? Got mine screen protector only for 11.25.
What I want to know is what kind of stand is that?? Looks like a generic picture frame stand.
Good application. You got some cahunas turning it on so soon though. The glass isn't as flush as the iPad so the risk of water getting in is real. I'm anal about my gadgets so I let all devices sit for 18 hrs face down on a lint free rag to ensure zero damage. Best to do before bed that way you aren't antsy
So what are the pros/cons of the Skinomi. Looks like the application went smoothly for you...either you've done that a few times before or you're just naturally gifted. lol

Does the Skinomi reduce the glare?

I put the Skinomi on today. It is not an exact fit border to border, minor gap. It does reduce glare in my opinion. It is still a gloss finish, but not as reflective as the mirror finish glass.
I have used Zagg in the past. It seems the same to me in both look and install. I am happy with the clarity as well, which was my main concern.
Fingerprints don't seem to be nearly an issue any more. Money well spent for me.

If you had to guess, how much of a gap are we talking about? like 1MM on each side or more than that?
One other question...does the skin float on the glass so that you can slide it into position for a few seconds before the adhesive starts to bond? In the video it looks like it was applied in 1 motion which requires a bit more skill imo.

From what Ive seen in videos, and read from ppl it definately depends on how much of the spray you want to apply.
If you are installing it and want to pull it up, then just dont scrape out all the solution till the end. Then when you pull it up, all you have to so is spray the screen protector some more, and try again. So, it seems that the liquid solution is the buffer between the screen and the protector
The gap on the sides of the glass if centered is about 1.5mm, or the thickness of a penny.

I ordered this and after applying it I have multiple bubbles and a peice of sediment in the middle of the screen It looked perfect at first when I finished, then I looked at it 5-10 mins later and was disgusted by my failure.
Take your time applying it! I found the techskin easier to apply than the screen protector. Op makes it look easy.

they are dry application. but with most dry applications might have the edge-of-screen-protector lift.
i'm waiting for my xo skin, so someone might want to try this out and report back.
I'm interested in how these fare. I opted for XO Skins yesterday before I knew about these. I usually go with SGP dry applications but I can't stand not covering the whole screen. I got the impression that dry applications are just not able to cover the full of these curved screens without edge imperfections.
If someone gets these, please let us know how it worked out.
Looks like no cutout for the front face camera
Ok, so I just got my Martin Fields screen protector today for my Galaxy Nexus. This was the first time I've used their brand, previously relying on mainly Zagg, but also quite a variety of other brands for all the gadgets I've had over the years. I can easily say that this is the best Screen Protector I've ever owned, by far. Like they say, it is absolutley crystal clear. My screen actually seems to be more vibrant than it was without the protector, and I certainly couldnt tell that it was even applied.
Installation was a breeze...fired up the shower to steam up the room and bring all the dust down, then just wiped my screen clean and slapped it on. Took me a few tries to get the alignment perfect. If you get dust under the screen during installation, the tape trick described on the packaging works excellently. All the bubbles smoothed out easily and my phone was ready to use right away.
The protector is about one tenth of a millimeter from the edge of the screen, which is just enough to keep it from seperating and attracting dust. All-in-all, the most exact fit I've ever seen with any SP.
Anyway, I just figured I would post my findings. I spent an hour reading forums like this before I bought them, with no concrete answers. Between the full device fit, crystal clear look, and camera protector, I have a new favorite brand. Any more questions, feel free to ask me!

I've been through almost 20 Zagg protectors in the past, which are all wet installation. I've had just as many edge-of-screen lift & dust issues with them I have with dry protectors (and I had most of them installed at the Zagg carts). After all, that moisture dries up eventually.

Fits the curved screen perfectly, no issues there. Either they anticipated it and shaped the SP accordingly, or the curve isn's significant enough to have any effect. Overall, very pleased with mine, and would definitely recommend.

There's no reason to. There's virtually no difference noticible when looking through this.protector, and believe me, I tested it with before and afters. They look just like the pictures.on MF's site. The Gal. Nexus protector comes with a rear camera protector as well, and it is just as clear. That was one of the main reasons I tried this brand, because I was tired of scratched camera lenses.

+1 for the pics. Unfortunatelly it's been 2 weeks since I've been looking for screen protectors and have not found one that I like. The wet ones scare the crap out of me and the dry ones I found are cut way to small. Without real live pics I'm not sold. Ordered one from 3M Vikuti for about 15$ and I was really dissapointed. Never buying 3M again for anything, thats for sure.

I hear that. Currently have a zagg. But also have a clear-coat, sgp flex, and a ghost armor on the way. I guess i prefer the wet install type.

How about fingerprints, does the Martin Fields help? I have the SGP Oleophobic and am very happy with the anti fingerprint properties but wish it covered more of the screen. The SGP would be perfect if a little more coverage.
+1 more for pictures. I've heard absolutely nothing conclusive about screen protectors for the GN and I've spent the past 2 weeks trying to figure out where I should spend my money.
Just ordered mine aswell, lets see.
... that camera lens protector has me very interested.
i'd love to see some before and after pics to see if it blurs or distorts photos at all.
Got mine today and I am quite pleased with the screen protector. Think I should share my experience with those planning to buy this
First the quality of the protector is no doubt very good, it is crystal clear and very resistant to fingerprint and smudge. The screen look as good as before and there is no "rainbow" appearance of any kind one might see on cheaper alternatives. Touch screen response is maintained as well. It dosent seems to attract dust unlike some other static screen protector I tried before.
However the dreaded lift-of-edge issue is still there It may not be very obvious in daily use, but it IS noticeable. I have attach a few photos so that you can see the degree of the lift. It seems that the only way to avoid this is to have a smaller protector to avoid the edge....or use the wet type like xo-skin
For the rear camera protector its quite good from my experience and doesnt affect the image quality or the AF-speed of the camera.
I know there are threads about which screen protector is best. However, I'm curious to see the number of people who are using them compared to those who are not.
Whether you are using one or not, please take a second to select the appropriate option for you.
Feel free to leave a comment with your reasoning, one way or the other.

Yeah, I'm using the VZW clear screen protector on mine as well. I'm actually pretty impressed with it since I can't tell it's even there. Granted I went through almost 2 packs of them before I got one perfectly installed.

Sounds like me...I would think I had it perfect and notice one piece of dust under the protector. And being as OCD as I am, I would have to start all over...
I work in concrete construction and my phone stays on me at all times. I do not use a case and I do not use screen protectors. lol I put my phone in a fresh zip lock bag every morning before work. Its the only solution I have been able to come up with to keep the dust and water out.

tried that for 2 days - it made the screen horrible. i switched to the vzw clear and am perfectly happy with it.
was very against screen protectors cuz of how gorgeous the look and feel of the GN screen is. However, after reading some good things about the steinheil ultra protector I decided it was a minor adjustment for peace of mind. I was also concerned about the fact that it doesn't cover the whole screen but decided to try and see how it looked anyway. I can say now that it is completely worth it. It feels great, crystal clear, not a single hint of a bubble or distortion, and most importantly i feel safe knowing I can put it in and out of my pocket without worrying about picking up scratches. the fact that it doesn't cover the whole screen doesn't bother me at all, probably due to the fact that i installed it so well (first time doing so). I'd definitely recommend it if you want to avoid demeaning of the screen look and feel
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
I was against it at first since I assumed they made the screen out of scratch resistant material to begin with. But I just bought a set of xoskin for it so I voted yes.
you would have to be crazy not to use a screen protector on my first nexus i sent it back for various problems , however one thing i noticed was how easy this thing scratchs i mean when i sent it back i cleaned it with a fresh (out of the packet) microfibre cloth and it scratched screeen in multiple places. This time i put protector on it straight out of the box.
So after a month of having this phone, I have decided that it is an absolute beast and has been made even beastlier with the hardworking developers on this site. However, I have (somehow) obtained a few scratches on my screen and as a result, have decided to invest in a good screen protector. My ideal screen protector is one that takes away minimal feeling of the "glass" on the screen, while simultaneously keeping the phone looking fresh and sharp as if there is nothing on there. In the worst case scenario, I'm looking to be able to cover up my current scratches, and then prevent future ones.
If anyone has any recommendations that would be great - thanks!

To be honest I have no idea. I have not been in a 50 mile radius of any sort of sand since I got the phone, nor have I ever dropped it or anything like that. The only thing I could think of would be that it got scratched while in one of my pockets? Although that is pretty unlikely since I always give my S2 its own pocket..

Look into Realook. It looks and feels like it isn't there. If you look at my phone, you can't even tell it's there, covers the entire screen as well.

I had bad experiences with realook, with its own squeegee scratched the screen protector. And i didn't add alot of pressure, they sent me another one but i eventually had to get a refund because it was just so easy to get scratched. Remember my personal experience maybe others had it better than me, but the only two companies i would go for screen protectors is SGP(real good quality and great customer service) and Zagg(lifetime support).
I just put a reallook protector on mine and it didnt come with a squeegee. The instructions said to use the cloth to rub out the bubbles. Putting it on took some real effort though. About 30min into the process of application (i just couldnt get it aligned right) i dropped it sticky side down on the floor. I had to spend another 20 min cleaning it off using scotch tape but it ended up going on fine with no dust. It works great. Ive only had it a week though so i cant comment on the scratchproofness.

I discovered this ebay sp supplier when I was a Sensation addict. They were the only ones that I found that would fit the Sensation's curved screen. I have since installed them on every phone in my household. I put that bleeeep on everything! They are a dry install product, superclear and not rubbery. I have paid many times more for equal or less quality product.

It only took me about 5 min to get it straightened up and applied on. Then maybe like a few seconds to get the air bubble out from there. Didn't get any dust/lint on the SP so for me it was perfect on the dot. Even if you look at it under the light, you won't know it's there. There is only one small tell, by the earpiece that you can see it's there
+1 for Ghost Armor. The local mall has a kiosk where they apply it for you...and only $5 to have them replace it. Best screen shield i ever used, great value, highly recommended

Worst advice ever, well perhaps not but definitely not a protector I would recommend. The problem with the Zagg invishield is that its very rubbery and more times the coefficient of friction will be too great to even enjoy doing anything on the phone.
I have the SGP ultra crystal and I'm very happy.
Had a zagg on a previous phone and didn't like it as much as this one.
Here is a GREAT ONE!
This one is very good quality, its also VERY cheap, I ordered 2 of them which is a total of 4 Screen Protectors,
Its Crystal clear, feels great on the fingers and doesn't feel cheap.
Perfect size, no cutting required an theres holes for the FFC and Speaker and stuff
Its absolutely great! and only 2 dollars (free shipping) for two of them!
I seriously can't even tell i have a screen protector on, it came out perfect!

Hi guys,
I just installed the Spigen GLAStR Nano Slim Tempered Glass Protector. I bought it off Amazon and it came pretty quick despite the holidays. I've attached pictures of the glass on my Nexus 5. Sorry I didn't get pictures of the installation process. I didn't want to risk getting dust underneath, so I had to do it quick.
I used the "Hinge Method" to put the screen on. And as you can see I got slight bubbles at the bottom (circled in red), so the installation wasn't perfect. I also have 1 tiny micro bubble in the middle...it's hardly noticeable even with the screen off/on and is probably less than .5mm in diameter. I would still suggest using this method for any screen protector installation.
After about 30 minutes, I used a micofiber cloth-covered squeegee to push out those bubbles that were circled...and they're gone! I just have that tiny ass one in the middle.
Overall it feels great, and its definitely smooth with the oleophobic coating...I haven't put my Cruzerlite case on yet, gonna give it some time for the glass' adhesive to settle in. I will comment on that soon!
Any questions? Feel free to hit me up!
Best,

Tempered Glass w/ Cruzerlite Case On
Hi all,
Just an update here. I let the glass sit overnight and all the bubbles were gone..even that micro bubble in the middle of the screen. This morning, I slapped on my Cruzerlite TPU case, to see if there was any peeling of the glass, or any fit issues.
Initially, it seemed everything was fine. However, after I got to work, I noticed that in the left bottom corner, the case began to push the glass up a little, especially if I pushed on that edge. As such, I decided to remove the case to prevent any more issues.
Spigen's GLAStR screen protector seems like a good one, but I think if they increased the edges 1mm in each direction, the Cruzerlite case would sit on top and sort of seal the glass rather than hit edge-to-edge like in this case, causing the glass to begin peeling. I've attached pictures to show what it looks like with the case on.
Let me know if you have any questions!

Thanks for the review. I got one as a replacement from the previous defective ones.
As I have not applied mine yet, can you describe what is the "Hinge" method?
Cheers

Sure. The Hinge method is where you take the screen protector and tape it to the phone BEFORE you peel the protective film away.
1) Align the screen protector to exactly where you want it
2) Tape one side of the protector so that you can swing it open like a door (tape in two places..I put a piece near the power button and one a little further down
3) Open up the "door" that you just made and clean your naked screen so there is no lint, dust, hair etc.
5) Make sure the protector aligns just as you want it
4) Then peel the "backside" of the film off so that the adhesive side is exposed and "close the door" so the protector is on the phone
5) Immediately take a squeege and cover it in a micofiber cloth and push out any bubbles you may have
6) Peel away the front of the screen protector
7) Using the squeegee that's inside the cloth (VERY IMPORTANT so you don't scratch the glass), push out any remaining bubbles
8) DONE! ENJOY!

Nice review and a +1 for the hinge method. Only way to install a 'dry' screen protector for me!
Just received mine today. Install went great except I noticed an air bubble on the left side about halfway down, right on the edge. Well, when I took a closer look, it was actually a chip in the glass.
Contacted Spigen Support and I am waiting for a response. Hopefully they can help me out.

That sucks! I hope they are responsive. Did you go with the hinge method as well during installation? I noticed that my glass is slightly off to the right.. Didn't get it perfect.. Oh well.

I didn't go for the hinge method. But I have used it in the past and it works pretty well.
The chip is pretty small so its not interfering with anything on the screen, as long as it doesn't get worse.
Spigen sent me an email back with a case number and said I should be contacted within 1-3 business days. Hoping for the best!

Saved my phone!
Im not 100% sure HOW it saved my phone, but im sold on them and will be buying a replacement!
my son likes to hide my phone, last night he hid my phone under my recliner (which hits the floor when rocking) and as i was rocking away i heard CRACK / CRUNCH....looked under the chair to find my phone with two very prominent pressure cracks on the screen...
i thought NO WAY was this ONLY the Nano.TR....as i pulled up the corners, the glasses started breaking and falling apart, but low and behold, not a single scratch or dent on my phones screen!
Completely blown away that my phone's screen didn't crack under the pressure.....sold on them forever!

So because of the chip in the edge of the protector it ended up just cracking across the screen.
I can't feel the crack but you can see it.
No email back from Spigen yet. Buy I did update them on the hairline crack across.
Still hoping for the best.

It's the first time I try a glass screen protector, this one is very wonderful. There is only a micro-chip somewhere, but I can't see it in normal conditions, I have to examine my screen closely for like one minute to spot it.
Putting it on the screen was very easy, much easier than plastic screen protectors.
It fits nicely with official Google bumper case.
Without a case?
Hey guys, I personally want to buy this Spigen protector (.tr version) because I hate cases on my mobile phone. I'm not going to waste €36 (yes, its the Netherlands) if I also have to apply a case on it. So is this screenprotector drop-proof? If I drop this phone from 1 meter from the surface, would it be able to save the ORIGINAL glass?
Thanks,
Viresh

They recommend a case with this product because they say the protector would crack easily without any case over time.

What do you mean by "over time", considering my usage, I have only dropped my old phone (SGS+) once in the two years of intensive usage. As SGS+ is a smart strong boy, it doesn't break, not even a scratch. Would the Glas.tR, 0.4 mm, survive a 1 meter downfall? Thanks in advance yo

Well, sorry but I have no idea. It's only written that they strongly recommend using a case along with the glass.

It depends on how it falls obviously, but I'd say chances are pretty good that the glass screen protector would be cracked or chipped after a fall, especially onto a hard surface like concrete. I have the GLAS.t on my N5 and like you I prefer no case and am very careful with my phone. But even just casual daily use, the screen protector has chipped, and it's been the case with several others too (spanning a variety of different brands as well).
So I would proceed with caution and really consider if it's worth sinking the money into. That being said, if the screen protector chips or cracks after a fall, it's taking damage that would otherwise be applied to your phone, which is its purpose to begin with.

So, a fall from 1 meter above on a hard surface, with the glass .tR 0.4mm applied, straight on its front would prevent the ORIGINAL Nexus 5 glass from cracking? (i know the spigen **** will crack)

There's no reason to expect any screen protector would save a phone from a drop. Screen protectors are meant for preventing the glass from being scratched. If the drop is sufficient to damage the screen, I strongly feel it would damage the screen through a 0.4mm sheet of glass overlaying your screen.
Cases, however, are what you use to protect phones from drops.
