You need to put a file named .nomedia in the folders you don't want Gallery to index!
Download it from here: http://www.mediafire.com/?xqjjytzzznz
Copy it to your phone and please note that it's a hidden file (because the name starts with a period) so use a file manager in "show hidden files" mode!
Then just copy that file into all the folders you want excluded from the gallery.
Then reboot.
Make empty text file and give it a name .nomedia , copy that file i folder wich you want to hide from gallery app

Thanks, it was really annoying having all music images showing in my gallery.
Hi,
You should call the image of the album (or the artist) "folder.jpg" and put it in the directory where the songs are (hope I express myself right...). That way none will show up in the gallery but any media reader will use it when you play the track.
Hi!
installed somes apps, copied some music, etc.
now those images (e.g. albumart / coverart) appear in the album, so it's very bloated with a lot of undesired images.
how can i exclude certain folders from being visible in the album? tried it already with a ".nomedia"-file in those folders, but this doesn't seem to work.
any ideas?
thanks & have a nice day.
There is a .NOMEDIA file in the demovideo folder. Copy that file to the folders you don't want to get indexed, then clear the cache of the album app. Reboot your phone and your set.

sorry, as i didn't find a solution yet...
Use Quickpic app to hide any folders you don't want the album to see. It works fine.

Is it posible that there´s a Problem with the .nomedia file in your xperia z?
Example:
I´ve a .nomedia File in the WhatsApp Media Directory. Right after the creation of that .nomedia file, everything is fine, the Pictures are hidden in the Album app. I´m recieving a Picture in whatsapp, Album app also Shows it, also after reboot!

USE QUICKPIC please. It is (so far) the only quick solution.
You do not need a .nomedia file under your music directory. You do however need to rename the album/cover art jpg files to AlbumArt.jpg (not cover.jpg or other filename), and Sony's Album app will automatically exclude those images.
You will still need to clear the media cache.

Bravia engine not working with quickpic
I've noticed Bravia Engine doesn't kick in when viewing images with QuickPic. Is there a way it enable it?
As I understand it, the .nomedia file doesn't work with JB 4.2+
Check StudioKuma .nomedia manager on PlayStore

Well, I just downloaded an icon pack and added a single period in front of the name of the unpacked folder. This makes the folder hidden. It no longer shows on my album or my widget for that matter.

use gallery pro
The .nomedia solution works perfectly fine for me. However it will not exclude stuff that is already in the album so you need to clear the data of the Media Storage (Settings --> Apps --> All --> Media Storage) app. It will mean that it will need to rescan your phone however, but it will correctly exclude any directory with the .nomedia file in it.
This works on XZ and it also worked on my old SGS3 running CM10.1 (JB 4.2.2)

No, be is part of the stock album app.

Quickpic hides them from both galleries. If they're still in your album after you've hidden them, then you either need to reboot or if you've stopped media scanner you have to scan media to ensure they're no longer shown in album app.
Quick pic works perfectly on Z I use it to hide all my wallpapers from the gallery ;-p
It's a good way of seeing what your pictures REALLY look like without Bravia shenanigans also lol
Why on Earth is it creating a "All Downloads" folder that has all the photos I have attached to emails? I have to either hide the album or keep deleting the images. I dont want them in there. Is there a fix?
Just delete them...
If I remember right you need to try going into the gallery and then selecting menu/settings. If photo sync is checked, uncheck it.
I really like the way the Stock Android Gallery app handles my photo, rather than the Sony Album app. But recently I noticed that my phone has a number of photos that supposed to be deleted re-appeared in my Gallery app. Very strange.
I installed Google KitKat 4.4. Gallery and Camera app , installed google plus, thus the "photo app" came together as well. All photos save to SD card DCIM folder by default. I did make sure that cache cleared, thumbnail rebuild after each test below:
1. Delete a photo from Gallery App, it disappear from all photo viewing apps, including the Sony Album App.
2. Check ES Explorer, the photo supposedly deleted still in there.
Tried again, using the Google Plus photo app
1. Delete a photo from Google Plus Photo App; made sure empty the Bin as well. Check all photo viewing app, the photo has been removed.
2. Checked ES Explorer again, the photo deleted is still there!
Then I tried Sony Album App
1. Delete a photo from Sony Album App. All photo viewing apps have the photo removed
2. ES explorer: this time it removed the photo there as well!!
Is this some kind of feature that the google apps build to protect accidental deleted image? If so, how come the photos are still there after Bin was emptied? How to make sure the photos that I wanted to delete is genuinely deleted? (apart from using other apps)

It gives you the option when setting up the Phone to backup to Google so check your sync settings.
I didn't even turn on the photo auto backup. So there is nothing I can set there except from logging into google account.
As for the Gallery app, I can find any setting regarding deleting photos. There is not even a Bin folder in there.
Bump. Anyone can help?
I've noticed that some old photos appear first in the album randomly even if I delete them. And also some photos are blurred. I'm using the Album app that was preinstalled when I bought the phone. Someone with the same problem and know how to fix this?
Had it before. If they are blurred duplicates of the photos you already have, chances are its the thumbnails. Just locate the Thumbnail Folder ( varies for devices ) and create a ".nomedia" file in there to exclude that portion from being scanned.
After which be sure to Clear your Album App Data in settings A quick restart after that should do the trick.
