Hi guys.. I tried installing jelly bean on this device (i8160p and it's not mine) using odin and a stock 4.1 rom I got from samsung updates(I have no root and I went from a never-touched stock)... All went fine, It's working and has all the features. Except that now its owner is asking me constantly to revert back to the original os, since he did find 4.1.2 very slow. So I went back the same path as in the first place in an attempt to get the original gingerbread : I downloaded a stock 2.3 from the site and then tried flashing it.. All again went smooth, with no problems, until I got stuck on the bootscreen and noticed that there was no way to access recovery(download mode working fine though)... So what I'm left with now is a non-booting gingerbreak or the possibility to stay in jellybean(flashing it still works), I'd prefer if I could go back to GB; I think the problem is that there was some conflict caused by jellybean which will require a reset that I can't of course do since I can't boot into recovery, and I don't see any way to install a custom recovery. So can this be done any other way, I'm afraid I'll break this phone before I'll even come up with anything since this is my first experience with roms and boot on an android;
info : as I mentioned There is no root (for now. I might however get into that from jellybean, but I'd rather not if it's possible) and the model is i8160P . an emphasis on the P here since it's the reason I can't find any custom roms, and all I'm left with is the stuff in here
Edit : got gingerbread back after following what angrybb has suggested
Flash the working JB, and after that root your phone like here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2139263 Reboot to recovery and after that follow the howto: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2352064 just in step 8 use original gb firmware.
If you can't get adb root access from stock recovery then flash kernel with cwm, for jb for example this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2304432 or this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2171054
After flashing one of those kernel, again follow: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2352064 , again in step 8 use gb fw
Ok I'll see
Thanks man I'll try what you suggested as soon a I can...
I have a question though: now I noticed that some people fixed this issue by dowloading some other parts (.pit and something else), but of course I'm unable to find these for the model with the P... Now If someone can please tell me if these files have anything to do with the re-partion option in odin(I heard that it does format everything and not just put things on top of things).... Is using it safe given that I don't mind losing data, or should I stay away from it ?
For angrybb : the phone still shows as i8160p in the about section and has access to network...
Here there is a lot talking about pit files, some tehniques with flashing one fw after another, but with no real explanation why this should be done this way. I dont like doing things like that, i want to understand what i am doing. I still haven found some in depth info about pit files.
Anyway, i upgraded from GB to JB with kies, after that i compared some parts of fw and pit file is not changed. Pit from GB and JB have same md5 in my phone, so it is the exactly same file.
I know that method i suggested is not short and plain easy but it is tested and working.
Thanks
Sorry for the delay... For anyone with same problem just follow what angrybb has suggested, but do not under any circumstances ignore backing-up CSPSA_FS and MODEM_FS if you care about your phone's ability to make calls !
hey, maybe you guys could also help me out? i came from a custom ROM that i was having problems with so I wanted to go to an official ROM instead. Originally i came from a GB stock ROM, then i went straight to CM 10.1 but i didnt have any signal on my phone so i tried flashing original stock 4.1.2, now im stuck on the boot screen and i cant access recovery mode. please help?
P.S. my phone is i8160
I tried every ROM for Mi Max Helium on this forum for knowing the best ROM for battery. I saw also that there is a way to add mpdecision feature on stock ROM, but for doing that, I need to have custom recovery on stock ROM. Everytime I try to flash custom ROM, this causes bootloop.
(I flash recovery by fastboot, and it works, but I only go in recovery, I can't turn on phone, because this one goes into a bootloop).
Can someone help me? Unfortunately, mpdecision files, are only for MIUI 8.1.3.0 and not for rooted MIUI on this forum.
Successfully TWRP installed an Official Chinese ROM together with a patched boot image from mi-globe.com just as an experiment. I am on EU ROM now. Official ROM seems dangerous for me when changing ROMs as it encrypts partition which I can't access anymore and even a TWRP backup of Official ROM becomes useless as it suddenly doesn't accept the secret pattern to access the phone.
Did you installed twrp on stock MIUI? without bootloop? You should do a guide in this case.
I've done guys! I rooted stock Chinese rom, fixed WhatsApp delayed notifications (and others apps notifications). I use my mi max from this morning (08:00 am) and now my phone is on 79%, I called two times, used YouTube, played to Clash Royale (5 matches), and used WhatsApp! This is the best combo Rom!
hello newbie here
so i had until now a stock version of mm on my LG G3 D855 (i guess the phone is european because im from israel)
i tried to change the version to cyanogen mod 14.1 cuz lately my battery has been dying pretty quick (and i basically had no idea whatsoever on what i was doing)
so something happen along the way while i was following the tutorial and the phone just would get stuck on the LG screen with nothing happening. i tried a couple of methods (both TOT and KDZ or something like that) to just get back to some sort of functional phone (i really need it for work) with no luck.basically i see a MiniOS screen of some kind every time i boot for a couple of seconds then it goes to a blue screen saying Factory Reset Status 2. I have no idea what to do now and ill really apreciate to get some sort of help.
thank you very much.
Try and boot into recovery then you should be able to drag another rom onto your SD from your computer. Then you can flash a marshmallow build or fulmics easily. Probably I would recommend the most recent fulmics if you are still learning about flashing and what not. They have a good installer which is easy to use and it is near bugless. All Nougat ROMs have some fairly large bugs, so you probably don't want to be using that for work unless you know a bit about working around these problems.
Guys,
I'm facing some problems to find a way out to root my gx8 without PC.
In the past I used some custom rooms but I've changed my mind and went back to stock. So my bootloader is already unlocked. But when I installed a stock room I restore the phone with Huawei recovery mode to, maybe, receive some updates. (Never)
The thing is, I'm without my PC and willing to flash a new custom room.
I've tried some apps to root and use the flashfy to install the TWRP, but with no success.
Does anybody know if there's a way to do it?
Hey guys,
can somebody help me to go back to the original firmware of the Galaxy Y?
I have model number GT-5363 (German 02 version, but same hardware as the normal GT-5360).
I tried to flash Lineage 9 and CM9, but it didn´t work, because I couldn´t install TWRP or the Custom Roms because of "wrong model number".
I asked afaneh92 and he told me to change the updater-script, which I did. Now I was able to install TWRP and the ROMs, but both Custom ROMs don´t go further than the bootscreen. One time I reached the Lockscreen with Lineage, but the phone seemed to be frozen then.
Since I still want to use my phone, I want to go back to Stock Rom or another (working) Custom Rom.
By the way: I wasn´t able to restore my backup with Clockworkmod 5.0.2.8. It seems to be a well known bug in this version.
Can somebody please help?
