Ever since I reflashed with stock att 5.1.1, my phone has been either sounding off a notification or vibrating, depending on which is turned on, every few minutes. Nothing shows up in the status area or on the lock screen. It doesn't matter if I leave it on full charge or unplug it. How can I trace what is causing it do this?
Solved.

I found it. It was under Device -> Accessability -> Vision -> Notification reminder.

Hi,
I don't know what's going on with the screen of my one-v...
well I press lock button, so screen goes dark, but after a while it lights up for few seconds showing me lock screen... then it goes dark, and after few second it does it again.
after 2 times it stops, but it is annoying when you put phone on the desk, that it glows so you start to think about coming call or text.
what's going on?
lolsss..
haunted maybe
Sent from my HTC One V
haha well hopefully not
I thought at beginning that it could be caused because of apz running in background but I have double checked - there are not any

have you tried factory resetting?
Are you using an app like Keep Screen?
My friend had a similar problem when she used the Keep Screen app.
Have you received an update?
Try using another locker like GO Locker or Magic Locker. Inform if it happens again.
strange thing, but it magically stopped happening
That may due to your brightness settings which is set to "Automatic" by default.
well it was too early for me to say that problem is gone... it happens again today ;/
I have fixed level of brightness, no apps except battery life working in background... all newest updates installed.
any ideas?
I have a routine to plug in the phone when it's off into the chrager to speed up the chrage time and take a nap :silly:
Now, since the official jelly bean update that I jut recieved, I noticed that the phone stays on after I turn it off and plug it into AC.
It stays on all the charge time until I wake up to see that the phone wasn't turned off. It stays at the same state I 'turned if off' before the chraging.
That's weired because on ICS it didn't happend.
Seems that when you plug the chrager in after the screen turned black (after the shutdown routine of course) it stops shutting down and stay awake like nothing happend.
This thing doesn't happen if I plug the charger in after the phone is "off" for at least 1 minute. But if I plug it in earlier it stays on without a notice.
Anyone noticed this issue? It's annoying. I can't trust my phone to be powered off anymore
P.S: I don't use "Fast boot" option in battery settings menu.
Really? I'm the only one that have this issue? Cause I already unlocked my bootloader, installed custom rom after a full wipe and the issue still present. Please, can someone check if he has the same issue as mine?

Nah dude, not the only one. By "turn off", I assume you mean the screen not shutting down the whole phone.
Easy solution: go to Settings > Power and there should be an option that says something along the lines of "never dim screen when charging." You can de-select this. There is also an option that says dim screen after x mins - you might like to put this on 1 or 2 mins if it isn't already.

Silly me. Didn't notice that option got ticked. Thanks! :good:
I have a stock Note 4, never been rooted. When I used to plug in the charger, the notification light would light up red with the screen off, and if I had notifications it would blink blue.
Today it stopped doing that. I tried restarting and removing the battery, same thing. The only time the light will come on is if I restart my phone, it turns blue for a little bit, but notifications nor a power cable plugged in will trigger it.
Phone is less than a month old, I don't have the TEP on it, would Sprint replace it with a refurb model if they're unable to fix it?
edit: I found a way around it by going to accessibility > notification reminder > and turning on LED indicator, when I turn it on though it warns me that using this feature disables the charging notification. I guess it’s better than having no notification light at all.
edit2: there's another option under settings > display and wallpaper > LED indicator. for some reason that was unchecked. turned it on and everything is back to normal.

Thank you!! I had the exact same problem and the "edit2" solution solved it perfectly. :highfive:
Has a proper fix been found for this yet? I have a Samsung Note 4 that was just updated to Android 5.1.1 and the LED notification stopped working. I have gone through all of the settings that effect it, but nothing works. I am not interested in a work around. I am only interested in having my phone function as it is supposed to.
I've had this issue now for it seems like forever. Screen will randomly go into these blinking fits and make the water drop sound on each blink. I've seen it happen when the screen was off and when the screen is turned on. I'm not rooted, just normal factory settings. Any help is appreciated as this usually happens when I really need to get access to something and then the phone goes nuts. It's also very tough to restart the phone when the screen is blinking on and off. It usually stops when I turn it off and on but again this shouldn't be happening.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Do you happen to have daydream(In Display and Wallpaper), settings turned on? I'm not sure if that's what's causing it but you never know.
No that setting is currently shut off and has been.

The only thing I can suggest at this point is to just use Odin to flash the stock image and hope it fixes it because if it doesn't, then it's most likely a hardware issue and not software related..
I recently did a factory reset to my M8 because it was acting up. After the factory reset, the NFC icon on my notification bar came on. It's not on as a solid icon; it blinks, and I can't turn it off in settings because it's grayed out. I tried forcing it off through "apps" in settings and even though I did turn it off through there the N keeps on flashing. As a final resort I rooted my phone hoping to get rid of the blinking "N". I rooted and the blinking "N" did not go away. I installed viper one rom and the "N" did not go away. The N blinks for several hours to a day or two after I restart the phone or if I have been on airplane mode and turn back on my cellular plan. When the N blinks my battery goes down fast.
Has anyone had come across this issue before? IS there something I can do? Based on what I've done I feel that this is a phone issue, not a rom issue... maybe hardware?
Just to clarify, before the factory reset I had never used the NFC function and had never had the icon on my notification bar. I'm on Marshmallow and on a Canadian network.
Same problem here
My phone is doing the same thing, it started right after a FDR. Now battery drains fast, random crashes and overheating as well.
same here, i m on indian network.
