Hello,
I have been using for HTC smartphone for some time. I noticed that my storage space is almost full.
I have a Desire 820 with 16GB internal storage. My apps & media files are about 5GB. The maximum storage is used by 'other' (7.26GB). I have no idea what this is and how to free that storage space.
Tried factory reset, but still around 6GB used by 'other'.
Please help me out on this..

With actulizaçao to 4.2.2 I stopped being able to move any application (even allowing) for storage telelmovel therefore have 25 Gb free on mobile phone that does not serve me for nothing, leaving the remaining 6 GB internal.
Climbed the problem to HTC where I say that this option has been removed from this version, which does not make any sense.
This also happens to you you guys or is just me??
I just have the mobile phone with 5 Gb busy leaving me 1 Gb of internal memory and 25 GB of memory of mobile phone that does not serve me for nothing because I can not move it to the aplications.
Please help!!!
So I'm using converted to GPE 16GB HCT One.
I have 32GB SD card and where possible apps load data to the SD (Google Music, Voice recorder etc.)
If you look at the picture I have 8GB available of internal storage but the graph shows less than 40% free (this does not add up)
Also why apps take internal storage if everything is cached to SD
Last time I had to factory reset because I have run out of storage for some reason and despite removing 3GB i was still low on storage.
Anyone can help?

look for an app called FolderMount in the play store
Thanks bit the app doesn't work for me. I don't have root
Moreover, I don't have any data stored from Google music or voice recorder on internal memory. It's all on the sd card and it still takes up the space of the internal storage.

Try the DiskUsage app from the play store. It will tell you EXACTLY what is stored on your phone and where it is. I use it myself. It's a great app to have.

2. Google music and voice recorder data reports taking internal storage (see first screenshot)
3. using DiskUsage app there is nothing on the internal storage yet the graph shows less than 40% of 12GB avail (that would be around 4-5GB) but I have actually over 60% free which isnt expressed on the graps
So, somehow android is incorrectly reporting available storage, but then even if I remove something the graph still stays at the same level.

You do realize that the ROM is on internal storage as well, right? Sense based ROMs are around 1.5gb

Did you look at the photos and what I have been saying?

Yes I know that from 16GB storage you get around 12GB usable due to OS installation and formatting.
Look at the graph again. you have 8GB free of 12GB available. The graph shows that only around 40% is available (8/12 is not 40%!!!!). If I cache music onto my micro SD card, for some reason that data is counted towards internal storage.
Hi, first of all, I used general mobile discovery before htc desire 816. Like desire 816, it had very low internal storage to keep app datas. However, some developers make it possible to increase internal storage which is just only for apps. They added parts which is for media and music in internal storage of phone to the parts that is for just only for apps. After this, I was able to use all internal storage of phone for app.
Is it possible to do same operations for our phone?
you can set your camera to store all captures on external SD, also save music to Sd card. my personal problem is with viber. it easily accumulates near 2 GBs in a couple months. just the stickers occupy nearly a gigabyte of space
I already set all the options that you said. Although there is nothing in internal storage except apps, it is almost full and I don't know why. Besides, we can't check our phone storage in order to delete or modify. This is negative side of HTC desire 816.

you can use Es explorer whixh is great, and you can also use HTC file manager. they both provide some level of access.
Hello I have an HTC Desire 816 and I literally have no storage whatsoever to be able to download the apps that I want. The only two apps I have downloaded I'd snapchat and instagram but they have been moved to my SD card so what the hell is taking up all the apps and other part? When I first bought the phone I could install lots of apps and games without having to worry about moving them to an sd. I just don't get it, does anybody have any idea? Also I have recently reset my phone like an hour ago and that didn't work either. My device is 8GB. Other takes up 6.37 and apps takes up 1.22. There is only 355mb left and I don't know what HTC expect me to do with that much?
Have you upgraded it to lollipop? If so you will have storage issues.. If you are still on kitKat, may be your old apps files might have taken all your storage space..ex: whatsapps media files..use HTC makemore space option in the storage settings, which will give you more idea on the consumed space.
