How to Install an International Rom using Twisted Kernel For MM - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge

I am successfully running the latest CarHDRom V.22-3 on my Tmobile SM-G925T variant, running Android 6.0.1 using the Sickness just posted Twisted-MM-V1 kernel and a call audio patch by Mr.X for MM. Yes...call audio is now working perfectly with the twisted kernel and the Sickness I know is about to release a V2 anytime now. I am NOT endorsing any one ROM. I only am giving a method I used to have this working for the first International ROM on our TMobile variant. No WiFi calling if you have to ask. That's a lo priority for me. If it is higher up for you, then just disregard this
I basically did a Nandroid backup first of my last XtreStol 3.3 MM setup. Have the ROM, kernel, and audio patch ready on your SD card. Bootup to TWRP. Do a full wipe. Everything except for Internal storage. Then flash the Aroma installer for the ROM, which offers a leave everything alone or a full wipe. Choose full wipe. It also offered two kernels or leave as is. I chose to leave as is since I basically did a full wipe and planned on using the Twisted kernel.
Now, after I flashed the ROM, I UNTICKED the reboot automatically option. I then flashed the new kernel. I did NOT chain flash the audio patch since I did NOT know there would still be a call audio issue at this point. Anyways, I let the ROM boot up. It took a good 5-7 minutes to get to the startup screen so WAIT. You are NOT in a boot loop. I then rebooted to recovery, flash the MM audio patch and after a reboot...everything with call audio was NOW FUNCTIONAL
The link I am providing here for call audio patch will DIRECTLY DOWNLOAD IMMEDIATELY to your computer. That's just the way this link is. I have NO OTHER links to a direct download page for this particular patch. If anyone can find a regular link the pulls up a specific page showing the Mr. X Call audio patch for MM, then please feel free to add to my post.
Enjoy!!!!

Lastly and MOST IMPORTANT.....There are TWO versions of the Kernel. One for the S6Edge and one for the S6Flat. Make sure you choose correctly for your model.

Thanks a lot, i'll try to flash by this manual...

Nice. Thanks. Does call audio simply not work on the carhd rom? I've been rocking xtresto with twisted kernel with no in call probs. 925t

Hey nice Ya I totally get that. thanks for the reply. So pretty much call audio will not work on international without the patch.

The way it is right now and with CardHD, the answer is yes. Not sure if this will be fixed with kernel updates, or if it's more ROM specific. But at least NOW...we don't have to wait for Tmobile based ROMs

It works, thank you so much, im running CarHD without problemas

This method works only with CarHDrom, I tried 5 different international rom, they all failed...

That's sad. Didn't have too much interest in carhd, but was really wanting to flash criss cross rom. Did you try that one?
*Edit - installed crisscross rom without issue. had to flash call audio patch, but works great.

You aren't giving any information other than a statement that it failed. Can't help here much with a post like that. Specifics as much as you can add. And my FAQ was specific for TMobile based hardware...S6 or S6 Edge. Is that the exact variants you state fail?

The best ROM is the one you like. I know you said 4.4.2, but you might want to consider going to a Lollipop ROM. I've been using AryaMod from over in the international Note 3 forum, and it is awesome. Best ROM i've used for the Note 3. It's a Note 4 port, very stable, and is very customizable. Plus, the development is very fast with that ROM. Take a look for yourself.

Yes, it was a little confusing at first. Here's what I did to get it working.
1. I used this thread to upgrade to NK3 baseband and then root it via Odin.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/not...-to-root-nf4-knox-0x0-effortless-nf4-t2846142
2. Then I downloaded TWRP Manager from the Play store and installed TWRP 2.8.4.0
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jmz.soft.twrpmanager
3. Next, I did a full wipe/data factory reset, then flashed AryaMod
forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=58582992&postcount=2034
4. Finally, I rebooted and flashed v2 of the wifi fix here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-3/themes-apps/wifi-bluetooth-fix-s5-ported-roms-t2938607
That should get you up and running. Enjoy.

From your usage, can you tell us what is working and what is not beside the NFC?
Well...from my experience everything is working. Wifi, bluetooth, gps, etc. I haven't had any fc on anything, and all of the s-pen features work as they should. I haven't dug down and played with all of the settings yet though. There are some advanced settings that I'd like to play with. My speeds on T-Mobile are fantastic, but I don't think that is the ROM.

Hi Techngro,
I think you are on the lollipop rom for couple of days. I am planning to install the AryaMod V2.0 on my stock rom, are there any issues you encountered or any FC. The latest AryaModV3.1 has been released, is it better to install the V2.0 or go with V3.1. Any suggestions.

I haven't flashed the 3.1 ROM yet because I like to wait a while and see if there are any issues with new updates. There have been some reports of some problems, but you can never know whether that is actually the ROM, or just user error (didn't wipe properly, dirty flash, etc.).
My suggestion to you is, since you're going to flash anyway, flash the latest update first (3.1), and see if it works for you. If you have any problems then you can flash 2.0.

Dude, you are using a T-Mobile Note 3 (based on your signature)...
There is simply no ROM that compares to Tweaked ROM. 100% fully functional and tons of customization options.
Some have recommended you move to a Lollipop ROM... Since your statement is avoiding bugs, issues, etc, I would avoid following that bad advice, since every single one of them will be a port, and none of them will have working NFC, and you are bound to not be satisfied. I can't for the life of me understand why people pay 700 bucks for a handheld computer, then ruin it's functionality and strip the cool software and features from it that they paid tons of money for... but to each his own I guess.
Like I said, based on your post, you are best off with Tweaked ROM by dwitherell. I don't know the guy but dang he seems to know his stuff, and does all of his work solo. I've been using his ROMs since I got my Note 2. Won't touch anything else.

can confirm 3.1 works. I tried it out since i like to see what each rom offers and so far havent encountered no bugs and the battery life is amazing. Glad i read into this.
Best ROM out there is the ROM that doesn't mess up your phone, everything works, get and receive all your calls and messages, take great pics, with super battery life. No f/c's ,no freeze, no black unresponsive screen, no incompatible apps.
It's called .................... Stock/rooted/debloated ROM.

Thank You

International ROMs work on S6Edge

Wow, Installed the CarHD International ROM on my S6Edge TMobile. (NOT pushing any one ROM. Just reporting results
Installed the Simple Kernel for the W8/TMobile variant:
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23991606952609432
Unsure if I needed to do the following, but flashed an in Call audio flash fix for the 920T (Non Edge) .
Just tested In Call audio and it works. FINALLY, since we all here are twiddling our thumbs waiting for the 5.1.1 official non leaked version roll out, it's SO NICE to now try International ROMs for our S6Edge TMobile variant PS,,,,I do like the boot animation as well as Inverted colors and Battery Mods on this ROM. Just my own opinion and will be trying out many International versions when I get a chance :good:

Yes: In fact in pulled up my location in my home in a blink of the eye. Never seen it lock that fast. GPS Test app.....13Ft accuracy. states 3D fix 16 satellites in view and in use.
EDIT: Pulled up one more app just to make sure. Google Maps was first reference, BTW.
Can you share the steps you took to flash the Rom, kernel and patch? Can you use the patch with another kernel or does it have to be with the simple kernel ? Also how s the battery with your setup ?? And finally do you have the edge features with the rom your using ???

Some stuff I can answer. Some it's not been long enough. I flashed the ROM, because I INCORRECTLY misread the thread about a kernel that fixed in Call audio but this did NOT flash on the Edge.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...-stockmod-kernel-t3100395/page16#post61081515
So, do NOT use the above reference. I flashed that kernel and it would NOT update my KT kernel 5/28 date that others stated had GPS issues. Reading that thread there was a GPS patch for that KT Kernel and I was using that and the in call audio patch I had referenced in my first post. NOT trying to confuse anyone. Just giving background that after installing the ROM and using the patch and that kernel, I had no incall audio. BUT, I also noticed that the kernel wasn't installing, even though it was saying successfully installed. I checked in settings/about device and KT was still on board.
OK...enough Background. I found the current simple kernel for our edge I referenced and that worked along with the audio patch.
YES, edge features work. ONLY that Simple kernel I referenced works. I tried the 5/28 KT and the 5/18 KT kernels. NO in call audio. Deep sleep functions perfectly for me too, so I assume the battery times will be comparable to KT's. It's been 4 hours since I installed. I was at 92% at that time. I show 75% remaining as i post here and I have been listening to milk music last hour. Testing GPS for the other user. Some messaging and Browsing.
Order to install:
I factory reset after first setting up TWRP backup. The CarHD ROM offered an option to backup your EFS in Aroma installer. I picked that along with Factory wipe option. During the Install it asked for CSC region of choice. There was an option for United States with initials LRA. So I chose that.
After installing the ROM, I had KT on board, so I basically let the ROM boot up and I setup everything with KT running....but that's when I found out patching didn't help in call audio. So I basically recommend after your setup, go back to recovery and install the kernel. Then the audio patch file. THEN, delete Both cache files and reboot. You should get the Android upgrading all your user apps at this point and you should be good to go.
I'm sure you could probably flash the kernel and patch file, PRIOR to even first setting up, but I didn't do that so I can't tell you that will work. Can't hurt to try that.
INITIAL boot up before getting the Start Screen was a good ten minutes. It's NOT bootlooping. Just give it time. Get a cup of coffee and smile at the boot animation while waiting. It's definitely nice
EDIT 2:
I am copy pasting my original post so that the files are in one place here again:

Very interesting. Can anyone confirm. This would be HUGE!!
just as he said in his op, do not flash all 3 at once, it will work if u follow his directions to the t....
Flashing now. I am with Canadian Rogers so I chose the CSC to be RWC (since it was the only one with the "R", i think there are like 4 options that say Canada). Lets see and will report.
awesome, got it to work on my Canadian Rogers. A couple of weird things happened but so far so good!!!

I knew it would work. Not sure the CSC thing is really that critical. I know on my S5 I was using UK CSC codes on the early International F roms. I will try flashing all the stuff at same time before booting up, on next install try, but I have to say I like this ROM a lot so far. Just discovered the gradient settings for the status bar. Swipe to the right from Home screen to get the OTA updates, themes, 3Min Battery stuff, etc for this ROM. Some of the inverted colors make a few apps hard to see menu choices correctly. Had that issue with Alliance a few times depending on theme choices and all the color options. Just an FYI.

I would assume any of the international roms would work using this method; I am tempted to try the Echoe rom, as I always liked that one on my Note 4..
did you see that Ktoonz posted a unified kernel yesterday? I wonder if that would work too, since that simple kernel supposedly leaves all sorts of Synapse stuff on your phone, even if you uninstall it..

I am just finished setting up the apps, and waiting for the "Android is upgrading" to make sure calls and stuff work..

I'll try Echoe in a day or 2, after checking out carhd for a bit...If you try Echoe before then, please let us know as well if this same procedure worked well on it; it should, but you never know!

[ROM][N900T] Stock Lollipop 5.0 (N900TUVUFOB6) v1.1 - ROOT+DEODEX+ZIPALIGN+deKNOX

I know mastergrillo already has a thread similar to this, but I didn't see an option that had everything I wanted. I'm just sharing the version I made for myself in case anyone needs it. Flash at your own risk.
This is simply a stock Samsung Lollipop 5.0 rom (N900TUVUFOB6) for the T-Mobile Galaxy Note 3 (N900T) that includes the following features:
Features:
Rooted (SuperSU and Busybox included)
KNOX removed (it will still trip KNOX 0x1, but it won't annoy you about a security issue)
Deodexed (makes the system easier to MOD and is currently required for installing the Xposed framework)
Zipaligned (optimizes apk alignment to reduce memory usage)
Rom based /etc/init.d script support (doesn't require a kernel with init.d support, but it will still work fine if your kernel does [scripts shouldn't get run twice])
Untouched stock Samsung kernel
It was not debloated because what's bloat to me may be useful to someone else and vice versa. You can easily debloat it yourself using Titanium Backup or a debloating script.
Nothing else was touched, and all T-Mobile based features like wifi calling work fine.
Issues:
No issues that I know of.
Installation instructions
Note: This rom does not include the lollipop bootloader or modem, so it's recommended to update both of those first if you haven't already.
Do a full backup
Flash with TWRP recovery (other custom recoveries may work, but it hasn't been tested)
Wipe dalvik cache, system, data, and cache partitions before installing. You probably don't have to wipe the data partition if you're coming from the original Samsung Lollipop 5.0 (this will preserve your apps and settings), but I haven't tested it.
May take 10 to 20 minutes for first boot (it will stay on the t-mobile logo for a while). Just be patient.
Stagefright vulnerability fix
There's a patch available to fix the stagefright vulnerabilities (credit goes to mastergrillo for this). The patch can be installed with TWRP immediately after installing the rom (you don't need to reboot first).
Other MODs that are compatible with this ROM (not included)
External sdcard write fix (allows apps to write to the external sdcard)
Android 6.0 Marshmallow boot animation (here's a video of what it looks like)
Xposed framework
Note: Xposed is still in alpha status for Lollipop, so some modules may still have issues.
First install XposedInstaller_3.0_alpha4.apk (or newer) from here
And then flash xposed-v75-sdk21-arm-arter97-snapdragon.zip (or newer) from here using TWRP. The important parts of the filename that should stay the same are "sdk21" (for Lollipop 5.0.x) and "snapdragon" (for our chipset).
If you have any questions or issues with Xposed, please ask them in arter97's Xposed thread.

@dirtybudha
The data service problem has been fixed in version 1.1 (OP updated with link).
The bug happened because I forgot to include the CSC files from the original Samsung rom. I didn't notice the bug because I manually flashed the CSC files after flashing the rom, which fixed the problem for me.
Anyways, I reflashed the new version myself using the flashing instructions in the OP to verify that it was corrected. It should work fine now.
..
Thanks! Will flash and report back.
Update: Data works! Bluetooth won't turn on. I'm sending a pm with a logcat.

Hey, I just tested bluetooth on my phone, but I can't replicate your problem. It's working fine for me. You may want to try clearing the caches if you haven't already. I did a full wipe (system, data, cache, and dalvik cache) when flashing version 1.1.
How did you flash version 1.1? Was it a clean install? Can you please tell me what you wiped? Have you tried this bluetooth device on the stock lollipop before?
If anyone else has tried bluetooth, please post your results.
Thanks
And can you please tell me the device you tried to pair with the phone, or would bluetooth just not turn on at all when you tried to enable it?
Edit:
btw.. are you running the lollipop bootloader and modem?
It was a clean install, wiped caches, data, system. I do this ever time i flag a ROM. I do have the bootloader and modem for Lollipop. I'm currently running stock Lollipop, and have been for a while.
I was trying to pair my Asus Zenwatch. Problem is that the Bluetooth Jay wouldn't turn on at all.
Let me try again. Could have been a bad a download or the moon wasn't in the right place last night.
Update: it was a bad download, apparently. Seems like everything is working so far.
About to backup everything and flash Xposed.
BOOM, shalakalaka
I've actually been looking for exactly this. Being that it is bone stock is it safe to assume that Wifi calling and everything else works?
If you read through the OP you will see that this ROM is almost entirely stock for the T-Mobile Note 3. That means WiFi Calling works. I just turned it on and everything is in order.

Xposed took some thinking, all anyone needs to do is flash the Alpha 4 file. So far it shows that it is up and running. Although my multi window manager wasn't able to work, it may not be compatible with lollipop. I'll have to go through and test some of the apps later. I just left the FC Dallas soccer game and I'm headed home to watch the Dallas Cowboys play.
Great work! I, as well as the community, appreciate your contribution.

I believe you also have to install arter97's xposed-v71-sdk21-arm-arter97-V6-snapdragon.zip in order for xposed to work properly on Samsung roms.
I thought that was already done? What was done to make this ROM Xposed ready?

Nothing was done except deodexing it, which is what is needed for arter97's xposed files to work. When I mentioned that you'd still need to install arter97's stuff, I thought that would be clear (but I may have added that after you downloaded it).
I didn't want to include arter97's xposed files in case some people didn't want it, it's still in alpha status stability wise and gets updated often, and it can also easily be added by flashing arter97's latest file. I simply mentioned xposed ready, so people would know that it could be installed.
I've updated the OP to make it clearer.
Touche.
Well it worked great!

Android 6.0 Marshmallow for jflte(Unofficial cm13)

After impatiently waiting for that day to arrive, here it is: Android 6.0 for our dear s4 is there thanks to our great dev @AntaresOne.
He brought us an unofficial cm13 for the unified s4 variants (jflte) which is stable enough to be used as a daily driver. All credits go to him.
Almost all the basic functions work.
FYI, it's a goodbye gift.
Download link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=63729768&postcount=312
Please, used the gapps suggested by the dev. Otherwise, you may face bootloop.
Enjoy but remember to thank @AntaresOne for this awesome work!

I'm downloading it right now and going to give it a shot. Hopefully everything works out, including using streaming services like Netflix or Hulu Plus. Will report findings soon.
I have read that cm13 will support tmobile wifi calling will it work with the s4 builds? Is it implemented in this build?

It should work if the signature verification is skipped.
Also be sure that the downloaded file is correct; some of the mirrors do not yield the correct file andd have a different checksum.
The checksums should be:
Code:
cm-13.0-20151108-UNOFFICIAL-jflte.zip
Size: 297,677,777 bytes
CRC32: 919fb9b9
MD5: cfc714dda4be22afabdaa95e98f72bed

Successfully flashed here. However internal and external mic don't work as well as auto time zones. Other than that, I haven't noticed an issue. I guess at first glance it also does not appear to be rooted.
Trying this on my Metro PCS S4 (jfltetmo) since it's not my daily driver and not connected to their network. So far it seems to be stable, but the battery usage is not good at the moment. The top of the list shows "Uncounted" using the battery the most. Not sure what that means. I am willing to help with testing this rom for this model jfltetmo, so if you want any info from this phone, let me know what and how to get it, and I will gladly share.
This thing did not work for me, leaving the phone stuck at the Galaxy S4 screen at boot. Restored using Odin and stock image, my device is the M919V.
CM 13flashed
Everything works fine but microphone. It does not work at all; call, skype, hangout, voice recorder, etc.

Is this ROM dead? or will it be updated to work with microphone fix?

It cannot. Since ICS, T-Mobile's WiFi Calling has depended on TouchWiz to work. Sadly, for the S4, TouchWiz is stuck on 4.4.4 KitKat and likely won't be moving up to Lollipop. As of now, I keep a working KK TW Rom backup up as a Nandroid in case I need it but I've since resigned myself to moving on.
Need something to fix 6.0
I downloaded the Android 6.0 marshmallow for tmobile and the 6.0 gapps i flash them with TWRP recovery on my galaxy s4 I cannot create an APN because it says my device model is unknown and sims card is not inserted what do I need to do to fix this or is it just a CM bug.
Same^ any help
i used these micro gapps http://opengapps.org/

Safe ROMs for unlocked boot loader?

I understand there are no safe MM ROMs once the boot loader is unlocked.
Other than that, can we install any of the ROMs for DE devices without worry?

"Safe ROM?" I'm not sure I follow your question.
I would not take the recently released Marshmallow OTA. It will relock your bootloader. And while you might be able to roll back to 5.1.1 and re-root, for me it's simply not worth the hassle. The .tar files developers need to make a Marshmallow ROM for our Verizon phones should be out any day. Give the wizards a week or so after that to whip up their magic. That's one option.
Another option would be to amble on over to the generic Note 4 forum, where there is a healthier ROM development environment. Many of these ROMs will work with your 5.1.1 bootloader and modem. The basic drill for making one of these ROMs work is to ignore the directions for flashing updated bootloaders and modems, flash the basic ROM and any fixes, then apply one of louforgiveno's data fixes. Stick with ROMs developed for N910F/G models.
My personal Marshmallow favorite... it's the only ROM I've tried other than CM13... is Dr. Ketan's. It has elements of both the Note 5 and S7. Does it have all of the newest goodies of the OTA such as Wifi calling? Nah. Since I don't really need it, I don't miss it. But everything I need for it to work does. Your mileage may vary.
Happy ROMing!
If your question is "can I install any of the ROMs meant for a DE on my retail Note 4" the answer is yes. I've tried PaulPizz, CM13, Kyubi, and Dr. Ketan and got them all to work on my phone. You just need to make sure you download all of the proper files and thank the devs. If any MM ROMs do come they will be listed in the "Android Development Section" along with all of the other ROMs that work on this device (retail or DE).
I'm pretty sure what the OP means is that for all those like me who have the Retail SM-N910V, it would be nice to compile a list of all working ROMs for our phones and what methods of installation were used. You have your ROMs that were installed via Odin and ROMs that were installed via TWRP. I'm not sure what the difference is, other than with TWRP you can install more than one ROM, right? Additionally, we want to make sure we're all using the correct files, that is, at least avoid the ones from Verizon that will probably re-lock our phones.

Follow the link to the generic Note 4 forum. Go to the Snapdragon subforum. Pick a ROM. Do not flash the bootloader or modem if the instructions say to. Just flash the ROM and any fixes. Go to louforgiveno's thread with the data fixes. Pick the appropriate fix and flash. The Nameless ROM at quick glance looks like a fairly unmodified Marshmallow TouchWiz ROM. Most of the others are ports, mostly Note 5 and S7 marriages.

If you dabble in this ROM flashing game long enough, you'll find that often not everything works as it should. Flashing doesn't go as smoothly as we'd like, and sometimes some of the features don't work properly or at all. Forced closes and random reboots are also part of the frustrations.
It all works out to a risk/benefit analysis. Will I be happier with my phone being able to customize it further? Will the new features gained outweigh the features lost? On the Dr Ketan's ROM that I'm using, the fingerprint sensor doesn't work properly. I don't miss it since I wasn't happy with the way it worked originally. I've had his ROM on my phone for over a week with the only hiccups being self induced. Recovering my backup makes everything all new and shiny again.

Which version did you flash for Dr. Ketan rom? I am on cm 13 now would like to try dr. ketan, i am a little bit unsure on the exact directions for the 910v from what I have read though as long as don't flash any bootloader files and apply the data fix I should be fine I can always flash back. Question is do i use F or G download for the rom, and what specific order do i have to flash the rom, h-vitamin, and data fix? any help would be appreciated.

So long as you're still on the 5.1.1 bootloader, you can use any version of Dr Ketan's ROMs. I was using the M5 version. I haven't tried this ROM or any of the other Snapdragon variants since I upgraded to the 6.0.1 bootloader. From what I've read people have not been able to get data and wifi to work.
The drill to install Dr Ketan's ROMs is to backup your working setup using recovery, wipe Dalvik/ART, cache, system, and data, flash the ROM, the M5 fix, boot into the ROM but don't sign in to Google or Samsung. Go back to recovery and flash louforgiveno's M3 data fix. (I haven't checked into his thread lately and he may have a fix for M5. Dr Ketan rolled back his base which is why the M4 fix doesn't work.) Boot into the ROM, sign in to Google/Samsung as needed and profit.
Note: I didn't see any provision for HD/wifi calling in Dr Ketan's ROM which seems to be important to a lot of people. I also haven't been to the thread in about a week to see if there's a M6.

Hope you can work it out. I tried every data fix and kernel in every conceivable combination, and nothing worked. I asked louforgiveno if he'd look into it, and he responded he'd have to swap in all the 6.0 stuff into a new data fix for us, so I hope that meant yes! He has been so helpful to all the different note 4 variants.
