feels like plastic to me, but maybe that's just because it's so loose.

It's metal.

D3O Button Fix

A common complaint among the D3O case users (myself included) is that the buttons are too hard to push.
I found that making shallow cuts around the buttons on the inside of the case added some much needed flexibility, and improved the feel of the buttons to nearly the same as without the case. Now I can even feel the "click" of the buttons again.
I just bent the case inside out around my finger and used a sharp x-acto knife to do the deed. Careful to not cut too deep.. about 1/2 of the thickness of the plastic in the area is all you need. If you're holding the case inside out, you'll see the plastic splitting as you cut, and that helps gauge the depth.
DISCLAIMER: If you hurt yourself or mess up your case, it's not my fault.
Great tip. I just slit the rubber just barely and it worked out great.
Yes, when you bend it and use a SHARP exacto or razer blade, you will see the rubber separate ever so slightly. I did this all the way around the button and it makes a world of difference.
Course with my eyes, I had to use a x10 optivisor to see what the heck I was doing.
Nice tip will try later after work!!

Much better after the cut. Thanks
i dont get where to cut...can any1 post a pic of the actual case with the cuts? i would appreciate it
Just my two cents.....
Rather then cutting my new case, I cut a piece of thin cardboard to the size of the button and glued that to the inside of the case, where the case button should press against the phone's button.
I now can use normal pressure to press the button.
Just my two cents.....

not a bad idea, let me try that lol
Just picked up a D30 flex case today. Will try it soon! Awesome tip.
Stupid idea. Cut will soon turn into crack and your cases will be a garbage. Its called material stress.

You're probably right... These flexible polymers are well known for their susceptibility to fatigue...

Best idea so far. Works wonderful!
I picked up the double protection d30 white and black.. buttons are rubber and infinitely easier to press without modification.. check em out!! Its a stronger, thinner, better fit/looking case tthan the all polymer. Reminds me of an otterbox commuter but one solid piece. It also comes in black and grey

Can you post pictures of the case up close as possible, thanks.
I think the buttons will soften after using it for a while. They are hard to push but not unbearable by any means. I have had cases on other phones which were a whole lot harder to press. It's an annoyance but I can live with it. I will try the cardboard trick if that doesn't work I guess.

Yes, after 2 weeks the buttons are much easier to press now. Or my fingers have gotten stronger.

I switched from the FLEX case to the DUAL IMPACT case and the buttons feel MUCH better.

For those of you with an Incipio dualpro.

I've had the carbon fiber black since I bought my One, but after a few months the texture scratched and came off. I used sand paper in water and then some Krylon Fusion for plastic paint and now my case looks good again!
So if your case looks battle worn, it couldn't hurt to try.

Interesting, I was looking at buying the CF case. I have a question for you, are the volume buttons more easily triggered with the dual pro case? I had a silicone case from VZW and with the protrusions for the volume buttons, they became way too easy to hit and I was constantly adjusting ringer volume when I didn't want to.

Quite the opposite really. The silicone used as the first layer of this case is a bit more stiff than I found with other cases. The buttons are actually as tactile or "clicky" as they were when I got the case.

I actually really like this case, looks like when it inevitably gets scratched I can fix it up.
I have the same case, the buttons are hard to push in for volume. I have read where super glue on them on the inside helps to make it easier. Has anyone tried this?

Official Bumper Case buttons?

On my phone, the bumper case buttons are just small mashable indents that you can press, rather than the actual phone which are real buttons. It's really hard to press the power and volume buttons with the case on. Is this just my case, or is it a poorly designed case?

It is just poorly designed. I got basically this case:
http://www.amazon.com/Cimo-S-Line-Flexible-Cover-Google/dp/B00G0FG792
but on ebay for $6. The buttons were so hard to push I ordered Google's $35 offical case because in the pictures it looked like there were cutouts for the buttons. As you well know there are not!
I can honestly say I hate everything about the Google case. It's only redeeming characteristic is the "NEXUS" label. Its hard slick plastic and square corners are just an unimaginably horrible design.
I don't think any case that covers the micro buttons will work any better. They are just too small and have no travel at all. They really need to be exposed.
The color rubs off or stains the official bumper case.
Xacto knife the sides of the buttons. Fixes that issue.

Stick a piece of plastic in the case do that a harder surface makes contact with the button. 90% of tpu cases have this issue on all phones. People been complaining for years. A lil ingenuity and it'll work fine.

[Review][Nexus 5][TPU Case]Cruzerlite Bugdroid Circuit - Black

Manufacturer: Cruzerlite
Case: Bugdroid Circuit (Nexus 5)
Color: Black
Description (summary of the cruzerlite description): Shock absorbent and scratch resistant thermoplastic premium polyurethane case with custom designed Android print on the back.
Overall impression and build quality: The build quality of this case is excellent. The best i've seen so far. The case itself is glossy whereas the back has some some kind of a soft touch surface with an Android print.
Cutouts: All cutouts are on the right place with the right dimension. You still have the click-response when you press the power button or the volume rocker. The power button feels more solid with the case. At the beginning it might be a little bit unusual for you to press the buttons because the case is a little bit higher than the button itself. In my opinion it feels much better with the case.
Screen protector compatibility: Yes, this case might lift up your screen protector if you don't adjust your screen protector precisely. It depends on your screen protector though. I've had that problem but fixed it with a few adjustments of the screen protector.
Headphone jack: All of my headphones are compatible with this case. The headphone jack cutout seems to be big enough.
I would definitely buy it again. It looks just amazing!

This one looks cool. might pick one up for my replacement nexus 5.
I like it but I don't use it that much anymore. I was caseless for about a month and I never came close to dropping my phone once. After day 1 I dropped the phone for the first time with the case on. It's a bit slippery. I find the phone itself naked is very grippy. The black N5 at least. So I use the case when I want to set the phone down on its back. So I don't scratch the rim around the camera lens. Don't get me wrong the case protects the phone good, I just think the natural form of the phone is easier to handle.

when you have a three year old, you need protection.
right. i'm driving with the subway and bus every day and need some kind of protection for my investment. i'm always on the run. and i don't think the case is too slippery. but thats just my opinion.

in my case, pretty good. here are a few more pictures ...
Are the buttons fairly easy to press? I have the popular Nexus 5 Casemate case, which is also a TPU case with button cutouts. But, the power button was and remains sort of a pain, as it's recessed a bit too far from the outer surface of the case.

do you mean the case-mate naked tough clear slim case or the one from casology ?
i'd say it depends on the thickness of your fingers and the way you press the buttons. in case of the power button ... for me it's not like i press the button itself. it's more like i apply a litte bit of pressure on the case with my thumb to press the power button. since the button itself is surrounded by the case on all sides, only the middle area of my thumb goes down to the power button. if i press it like that, i get a louder click as response.

Question Which case has better clicky buttons?

Ringke Fusion Clear or Spigen Ultra Hybrid. Both cases look great but I'm more into which one has the better clicky buttons that are easily pressed. Thanks for any help or possibly pics if some of you guys have both cases.
Spigen ThinFit has clicky buttons. The case might not offer the level of protection you're looking for though

Given the time, I'm sure you already have a case by now, but I'll add for others.
I have Spigen Ultra Hybrid and Spigen Liquid Air ( Pixel 6 Pro ) and my personal preference is Liquid Air. Buttons are oh so clicky and it's better to hold. Of course, no fingerprints too I would say it looks a little better in Ultra Hybrid though.
My Spigen Liquid Air has crisp, perfect button response!

I tried the Spigen Tough Armor and there was a noticeable difference between the power button & the volume rockers, the power button felt relatively mushy compared to the volume rockers (since the P6 makes that differentiation aswell). Does that also apply to the Liquid Air?
I would like to have a case where power button and volume rockers feel equally clicky.

I'll admit I'm a Spigen fanboi (not compensated in any shape or form).
The Liquid Air is a great case. The button clickiness is identical for power and both volume buttons; crisp, clicky, easy to depress, and engages every time.
The case is pretty sturdy as well for not being an 'armored' or heavy duty case.
I've dropped my device several times on to the tile or concrete with no damage to the device and no noticeable marks to the case.
Best part for me is its fairly smooth texture allows for easy in and out of the pocket without pulling the pocket inside out. Unlike the thicker or more tacty/textured cases.
