Hi jan177,
I plan on getting this phone, if I can root it. How does TWRP rooting work for this? Are there any simple tutorials?
Does the headphone jack work ok on it?

Which TWRP are you using?
Flashing goes correct?
Are you going into recovery after flashing without restarting the system?
Or there is restart of the system in the meantime?

Hi, it seems that the flashing went correct, at least using the SP Flash Tools, i got this message saying that everything went well. The recovery and the scatter file i downloaded from another forum, i don't know if i'm allowed to talk about it, it's in russian. That was the only source of information i found for this smartphone. Anyway, after flashing the recovery nothing happened at the smartphone. I had to manually power it on holding power and volume +, after that i choose recovery, but i can't find how can i flash the root zip file. I tried copying these files to the internal memory and to my microsd card, but i never find a way to flash these files. Any help would be extremely helpful. Thanks.
It is simple. When you start TWRP recovery you should swipe right to allow changes.

Could you please share with me a picture of the TWRP recovery? Because i'm starting to think that this isn't in fact installed at my phone.
don' t you think you should show what you have? I have it installed.

You can install check root apk. to check if your root is ok

Thanks, you're right. Ok, this is what happened, i installed the recovery, or so i think, using the sp flash tools and the scatter file, ok. Also the drivers were sucessfully installed. Just as a minor note i'm using windows 7 x64 and a 2.0 usb port. I activated the developer options and usb debuggin mode.
After the process i power on the smartphone holding power and volume +, this is what i see:

After that i choose recovery and this is the android picture that it shows:
And finally this is the last picture i see:
Even if i choose apply update from Sd card i am never able to access the internal memory or my micro sd card.
Oh, right, i also installed Root Checker from Play Store, it says that my device isn't rooted.
You DO NOT have TWRP recovery
You have to try once more
After you choose recovery on your 1 photo your phone should start and you should see TWRP logo

Yes, you're right. I was about to ask your TWRP recovery when i noticed that i was using the original recovery, and not the TWRP. That's the worst part about finding information originally in russian translated to another language. The real TWRP recovery was in another topic. I just installed the way i did before and the first thing i saw was the TWRP logo. I flashed the superSU and now my device is officially rooted. Thanks for your time and your help, jan177.
Yes. ok.
your 2 photo is typical for stock recovery, so that is why it was clear that TWRP is not installed

I caution everybody to flash new ROM. Do it when you know what you are doing.
Perhaps only when you know that the ROM is on OTA.
It looks as if u have chosen wrong action.
Format+ download.
It should be download.
Format+ download went with an error so probably it is formatted and bricked.
Question is does the phone reacts when connected to PC?
If so you should try flash the ROM.
Use different SP Flash tool.
I use 1520

You do not have to do anything with the phone boatloader etc. except what I in many places described.
Just use SPflash .
Download
connect phone.
restart in recovery
restart in system
If you have problems with starting to download then keep the battery, phone turned OFF.
Or start download phone without battery and then put the battery in

East root?
I was able to install TWRP and it seems to be working as I can backup and restore with ease, which is good, because rooting doesn't seem to work for me. I install the supersu ZIP via TWRP and it installs with no problems. However, on boot, the phone hangs as the boot animation. I am thinking it could be due to new software from Doogee, I have DOOGEE-XT5max.20160726 for my version. Can you tell me what version you ran this with?
Thanks,
Jonathan

According to the European legislation a terminal may be rooted without so we lose the warranty, but instead to use the phone we have to accept LG conditions that say that we can not customize the phone.
As it seems, commented by Spanish users that took your phone Technical Assistance Service (T.A.S.) still this rooted and with installed CWM, T.A.S. spent in warranty, so this method is not necessary, but you never know with whom you can bump sat, so here you have remove the ROOT and leave the phone as something out of factory.
UNROOTED METHOD
INFORMATION
This method serves to take the phone to the T.A.S., or if you want to leave it clean.
Download a ROM to your terminal, operated and country, use this link LG Phone Firmware G2
It enters to the CWM or TWRP Recovery.
Now get from:
CWM - Wipe Data / Factory Reset
TWRP - Advanced Wipeo, and the beams all but the SD.
Go to the reset menu or advanced and click on turn off.
While you press Volume+ connect the USB to the PC, enter Download Mode, as the images above
It runs Windows and follow this LG G2 Stock Firmware (Go Back to Stock)

one problem with all that - "UNROOTED (White) = The phone was never rooted." should read "UNROOTED (White) = The phone isn't rooted at this time."
my d802 always returns to that state after I unroot and go back to stock I have to do 2 x full factory reset and using the power button down and vol down trick then if you go into download mode it always shows as unrooted in white.

basically I cannot talk for any other model apart from d802 as this is what I have. but basically all you need to do to get it to show unrooted is to download the lg mobile support tool > open it > plug in usb while holding power and vol up with phone OFF to get into download mode > open the LG mobile support tool > go to options (top right) and press upgrade recovery.... the tool will download the original stock firmware onto the pc then install it on the phone. DO NOT unplug it until 100% on the PC. the phone will reboot about 80% on the pc but phone will have reached 100%. next do 2 factory resets using the power button and vol up method and you will find the unrooted status re-appears if you go back into download mode. Its also worth noting that it works best and flawlessly on com port 4 some ppl have experienced issues on other com ports.
obviously I accept no responsibility for you breaking your phone if you try it but I have done this at least 70 x to get out of bad fashes and it works every single one.
takes you about 30 min for the file to download but without that file downloading its probably about 5 minutes user input the longest/hardest bit being getting into the factory reset screen. lol.

ok so if press the start button on windows then type in device manager in the little box at bottom and press enter it will open up.
now put the phone in download mode (be sure to use a rear usb port too, then when the pc recognizes it go to your device manager, it will show Ports (COM & LPT) in the list and when you press the little plus sign to the left of the name you will see the phone and the port number being used. i.e. LGE AndroidNet USB Serial Port(COM7).
right click it and press properties > port settings tab > advanced > the COM port number is at the bottom of the box click it and select 4. it will probably tell you something else is using it but that is fine it makes no difference click ok then yes and ok again. Now your phone should show as COM Port 4 in the device manager. now close device manager and carry on using lg support tool.

OK, I have personally tried port 5, and 45 port and not have had problems, since this method which I intend to use the official program, with the difference that we say you must firmware flasher.
Thank you for your information, I used the method proposed for some years with my KM900 and my P990, and I have to say that it works perfectly, and not only that, also the firmware that is installed is suitable to the country, model and telephone operator.
The two methods do the same thing, but his left it because I sometimes giving problems, there were times that said that the firmware that had was the more modern and wouldn't update, I am referring to below the D802 models

Hello! Does your method work with a custom recovery and after the reset will it be gone?
i unrooted my D802 and when it was done my storage reduced from 32gb to 10gb . do you have any idea how to fix it?
What are differences between 10A-10B-20A-20B? I have a 16 GB Italy H3G D802, which rom have I to download?
I've checked a logs and found that com.lge.hiddenmenu.RCT_Check/RootingCheckActivity is running during that flow.
Then, dumped all framework and app files and searched for that activity.
Founded in HiddenMenu.odex file, deodexed ...
Actually they are reading value from that file: /persist/rct.cfg
There is second file that this activity cheks: /persist/rct
There is a logic there if file not exist /persist/rct then show RCT check disabled.
May be that will permanently disable root check?
There could be some other application (service or script) that actually doing root check and write this rct.cfg file.
---------- Post added at 03:59 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:15 PM ----------
Tried to remove that two files.
But device restoring them after rebooting.
Needs to find a way how to log who is accessing that file.
Excuse me, I cannot understand.
I have to:
1 - Install CWM or TWRP
2 - Make a Full Wipe using CWM or TWRP
3 - Update firmware using normal procedure wich downloads and install the correct firmware on my phone
Is this correct?
I ask because doing only the 3rd point I still have "rooted" in download screen.
Perhaps I am missing the full wipe in TWRP.
Any help appreciated
OK, found description for rctd tool
Some workaround:
1. If you create two folders in target folder with the same names as that rct and rct.cfg names than rctd won't able to overwrite then, and from hidden menu device won't display rooted status;
2. Remove rctd tool and put clean files rct and rct.cfg from the unrooted device. Files could be found there.
But still OTA detect root

Ok, looks like from 4.4.2 rtcd no longer exists but you need the files in /persist folder.
So this should not be a problem.
You root only adb, you take the files and put them in a safe place.
You do whatever you want.
You restore the 2 files (while you're root)
You do a full wipe and a firmware recovery.
Thos should take it to a total unroot phone.
Am I right?

Very nice s7yler, that'sa good and interesting phone. When you sucessfully got root it, maybe I can try to theme the phone for you. Also made it on my HDC Note 3.
just ordered mine from DHgate, Excited:fingers-crossed:
Poor 3G reception.
Hi,
I've received my S2 4 day ago.
It's wonderfull, very little, fast enought...
But I've big problem with 3g reception: very very poor!
Only if it is closed to the cell bridge you have a good signal, otherwise it change in GSM mode.
Compared with my ZTE V970 (not a champion!) it have 15 dB less in 3G mode!
So it's unusable!
GPS and WiFi is weak too.
No problem in GSM mode.
Have you same problem?
Thanks.
EDIT:
SOLVED!!!
I've opened my phone, and view that internal side of film antenna for GSM (that's for 3G too) was a little crooked; I've detached and re-attached it properly. NOW MY PHONE WORK PRETTY-WELL IN 3G NOTWORKS!
It's not a champion of reception, but it's usable now!
I'm happy...

Hi,
I've received my S2 4 day ago.
Thanks.

3G depends on what frequency/network your carrier uses. It can be different from carrier to carrier or country to country.
Mine is always connected to 3G (here in Germany), but I agree that the signal is stronger with GSM only. GPS is ok, not the fastest though, the same with the WiFi, the range is good enough, but I also could wish the speed was faster.
Hi S7yler, could you send me some files?
The SystemUI.apk, on /system/apps. And the framework-res.apk and mediatek-res.apk on /system/framework, copy and send me if you can

Sorry but there is nothing called "SystemUI" inside system/apps. But the other files I have, you can get them here:

Sorry S7yler, and thanks. I've forgot on 4.4 the /system changed a bit. I guess you can find the SystemUI.apk or LGSystemUI.apk on a folder called priv-app, inside /system.

Ok here
http://www.mediafire.com/download/ibcps7yv6sdwbmv/SystemUI.apk
Thanks S7yler, i've themed the SystemUI, to have the G3 look on Toogles of status bar.
If you want try, simply put this modded systemUI on the same priv-app folder, and set permissions to rw-r-r, maybe during the process the phone will reboot before you put permissions, but will but normally. Anyway, if you wanna try this. Have a good backup of your Rom in hands to flash if something goes wrong, and also backup the SystemUI.apk, you already has it on mediafire, btw it's up to you.
If you try this, let me know if you like, and show some screens. You can theme more the notification bar, with the XBlast tool for Xposed.
firmware ?
hello, anyone has the opportunity to find firmware for this device? and impossible to do root !! someone is successful?
thanks
The rom you can download from here kingsing.hk/services but S2 not avalible, among other.
s7yler how you root your S2 ? I do with difficulties "read back" method to read S2 rom and flash recovery, but I do it. Now I can't boot recovery, only factory mode...
With vRoot install vRoot apk, can't install supersu and root checker says "not root"
TowelRoot not work
How you root it? :good:

It rooted it via this guide from Itxtutor (with the read back method)
http://www.china-devices.com/Thread-100-Working-ROOT-CWM-Readback-your-ROM-with-SP-Flash-Tools
The complicated part can be to find the correct HEX numbers, and connect the phone so it begins the readback process. I did it yesterday and struggled almost 1 hour with it to connect correct and start the process, but it did work in the end. (the tricky part on that phone was that I had to hold volume UP down while inserting the battery and the USB cable, and then the readback process would start without any errors, before that it always stopped up with some strange BROM/DRAM error).
Also in step 8 in Itxtutors written guide, you need to flash both the patched BOOTIMG and RECOVERY, not only the RECOVERY (as his guide only shows). Else it will not work.
Also a tip is, if it SP Flash Tool crashes, then try another version of SP Flash Tool, I have 3 versions to try with. SP Flash Tool 3.1352.01, SP Flash Tool 3.1344.0.212 and SP Flash Tool 5.1348.00, and you can also try another USB port.
Thanks for your advice s7yler!
Yes I follow Itxtutor steps, but I flash only recovery and only boot in recovery line :silly: ... ok ok!
Preloader is no stable, on off constantly, I have tried different drivers ... I have tried volume buttons but not result
I use SP 5.1352.01
Method 100% - Battery inserted, plug USB, appears green battery, (now do it fast) unplug USB, battery disappears, push download in SP, plug USB
I flash recovery and bootimg separately, two times, both times without error.
Now I hope my CWM.... volume down factory mode, volumen up nothing. I try read rom again.
UPDATE
Finaly I rooted, mtk droid tools detected how root green (rootcheker no) and I use it to reboot to recovery (I can't enter only with phone) , without install nothing automaticaly appears supersu 1.86, root explorer,... now rootcheker says yes, I update supersu... root ok
Now I have other problem, when I disable usb debugging, phone restarts

Why disable usb debugging? just let it be on, it does no harm. I even heard that some phones (other models) should run better with usb debugging set to on.

Thanks
s7yler, please make a backup of your rom, with mtkdroid, since you're able to perform root?
thanks

First Look Video
Full Review
Welcome to another "First Look" on a china phone. In this video we will have a look at the 5.5" Cubot X15. A very stylish chinaphone in good quality. In the video I also compare the Design with the LeTV S1, so check it out
Cubot X15 MTK6735, 5.5 FHD, 2.5D Glass, 4G LTE, OTG, SmartWake
The manufacturer Cubot are not exactly known for visually beautiful smartphones. But the new model called Cubot X15 is a whole new story. It is built very sturdy and has a very solid aluminium frame, so there is no way to bend it. The backcover is made of plastic, but this can not be opened, so you can not remove the battery. This is a dual sim dual standby smart phone. In general, the smartphone looks very nice and cool and almost like something from LeTV. Nevertheless, it is quite heavy in the hand, because it also include a large battery.

Not available yet, also not at Gearbest, but I believe it will be in a few days. The shops say stock even days before they actually have real stock, experienced that many times.
UPDATE: I just got my X15 and so far I really like it! I have now added my "First Look" video to post #1
Anyone got this yet? Any root access? I hear I can't install nova on it? What's that about?!
Phone amazing. No root though. Someone help?
Snapchat lenses were working and stopped suddenly too.
Any at all got root access?

It is not waterproof
I have had this phone for a week now and its actually really good. The screen is quite responsive there seems to be no lag on even when there is a load on it, the brightness control and auto brightness is quit reasonable and in my opinion better than my previous phone the s4. The shut down and reboot times are very fast even when booting for the first time. Battery life is really good, when just normally using it no games just the occasional looking stuff up on google, using facebook all day and texting and calling it last be 61 hours. Gaming on it and heavy used produced an up time of 37 hours. The speaker shocked me since there is a grill for a second speaker but there is only one on the bottom, but sound quality is great. Call quality is pretty good people who normally used sound mumbled come in more clearly and i can actually make out what they are saying. Gaming performance is very good, hardly any lag from actual graphics or processing only lag for me came when my wifi was being bogged by my roommate. The screen itself is fairly water resistant but not water proof and i dont plan on testing that any further. The only con i really have found so far is that i cant root it whether it is my own ignorance on this type of phone or there isnt a reliable method out yet it still upsets me. My personal overall rating would have to be 8.5/10 I would definitely recommend this phone to people whom are on a budget and want a nice phone
Still no root access anyone? Or even a Snapchat fix? That's the only reason I want root, sad I know. No lenses on Snapchat is doing my head in
McMCC in the russian forum 4pda rooted his Cubot X15.
He used Pack-Flashtool-v5.1528.00.000.rar what seems to be the flash-tool of mediatek.
Maybe someone can try if he reaches to root his phone with these tools.
Sorry I can not post links yet.
That's good to know. I literally have no idea how to do that but thanks for giving me hope.
A Full Review video has now also been added to post #1
Finally got a Successful ROOT!
So after rooting I installed Nova and deleted the stock launcher and it improved responsiveness tenfold. I also started ripping out other apps that I know I'll never use like hotknot, Launcher, and have installed 3C Toolbox which after setting up TRIM and turning on all maintenance on boot has really helped. Droidoptimizer is awesome as well.
Everything you need to RooT
Alright, So this is everything that I managed to find, compile, tweak, and finally get to work on my Cubot x15 which should work for every other cubot x15. I'll tell you exactly how I managed to get root working and provide a link with the working cwm and drivers and the stock rom and a way to flash back to it. I used the stock 5.1 x15 scatter file to map out CWM and it works for me so far. Sorry I'm not too much of a writer but I'll try my best.
1. Every thing you need plus probably some you dont, https:// www.dropbox.com /sh/4iskxmmzxvj48z9/AACIs5Vm3Q_2yxGMIqktKadGa?dl=0
2. Now this is going to be how I did it step by step, if you know a better way or can see how i'm setting it up then help us if you know a faster way. I installed ADB-setup-1.4.2.exe first, hit yes on the 3 things that it asks. now these drivers won't detect the x15 but it installs all the ADB where it needs to go, mainly in C:\ADB and users\.android so if you know how to do it you can skip this part but if not I would install it.
3.Okay, so on your cubot go to settings, about phone, and tap on build 7 times to enable developer options. In developer options turn on USB debugging and OEM unlocking. Now OEM unlocking is going to wipe your phone back to stock, backup what ever you can like pictures, music, and so fourth, if you have a microSD card in your phone it won't wipe that so migrate what you can to your SD. Now this is the part that I got stuck on for a while trying every MTK tool and adb command so I'll save you some time. After you turn OEM unlocking on, power off your phone and then turn it back on while holding VOL + or up and power together, this should bring you into to a black screen with the choice to boot into Recovery/FastBoot//Normal, volume + changes choices and Vol - selects. Well need to manually put it into fastboot mode after the next step. so go to normal for now and reboot.
4. So download Nicks Cubot x15 root TooLs, there are the cubot drivers that we need in adb_fastboot_utils, what i did was unrar'd that folder into C:\ADB and replaced that adb drivers that we installed in the last step with the new ones we need for the cubot, it works pretty well. Install them by replacing the other ADB drivers but if it doesn't take then you can right click on your computer, go to manage, device manager, click in the window where you don't select anything , like under Universal Serial Bus controller when it's closed, you do this so that the action tab will then let you select add legacy hardware. Go to Action, Add Legacy Hardware, click on next, select install the hardware that I manually select from a list, Next, show all devices highlighted, Next, Have Disk, then browse to C:\ADB and find the folder, I'm using windows 8 so I ended up in C:\adb\usb_driver_mtk_win8 and click the .inf file. If windows gives you **** about not being signed and fails then you have to reboot while holding shift, go to advanced options and reboot without driver enforcement, i think it's number 7. if you do have to do that just repeat the device driver install steps and it should work. Now, after you get all this installed you can test it by opening CMD and typing adb devices. Your phone should show up but it will say unauthorized, if not make sure USB debugging is turned on in developer options and that your phone is plugged in via USB cable. if you get the unauthorized message open your lock screen and your phone should be asking you to authorize your computer, check always remember computer and authorize.
4. So now for the fun part. If you did it correctly you can now see your phone by typing adb devices in CMD prompt. If you can then make sure you saved what you wanted onto your sdcard and go to developer options and tick OEM unlocking again. now you should still have your ADB CMD prompt window open with your device being seen, if thats the case type, cd C:\adb, which should change your command directory to C:\ADB, after you switch directories type, adb reboot bootloader, your phone should reset to a black screen with some options, VOL + changes options and VOL - selects, if you have the option, select fastboot, if not then type fastboot devices. If you don't see your device serial number, and instead see "<waiting for device>", fastboot is not configured properly on your machine but if you do see your device type, fastboot oem unlock. Now go to your phone and it will prompt you to make sure you want to unlock your bootloader, VOL + to accept or VOL - to reboot. hit VOL + and CMD prompt will let you know when it's finished. After it's finished. Leave the CMD prompt open and your phone in Fastboot mode. and read the next step.
5. Alright so your phone should be in fastboot mode, now in my included root tool kit I have included recovery images, recovery.img is the stock one and Cwm_recovery.img is the one we want to flash. So copy cwm_recovery.img into C:\ADB if you installed the adb drivers in step 2 or the cwm recovery to where ever your sdk tools are. RENAME cwm_recovery.img to just recovery.img, if you're lazy just select rename and delete cwm_. So it should be sitting in C:\ADB\Recovery.img along with fastboot and adb that you copied.
6. So after moving the new cwm_recovery.img that you renamed to recovery.img into your c:\adb folder you're almost done, type fastboot flash recovery recovery.img and after a couple of seconds Fastboot will flash the image and give you a success/failure notification. If successful, you're all set. To check out the new recovery image you have to reboot by typing fastboot reboot or just holding the power button down. Now hold VOL + and power to reboot to the options screen with Recovery, Fastboot, Normal. VOL + until you highlight Recovery and then press VOL -. You should boot into your new CWM recovery. I have included SuperSu.Zip, BusyBox.Zip, and Xposed Framework.Zip. I flashed all of these but not at the same time. I did SuperSu first and rebooted to see if it would boot and it did. SuperSu rooted the phone enough to where I installed busybox.apk but you can restart and flash busybox.zip. Now with Xposed after I flashed it, it took a minute to boot and it started optimizing android apps, it restarted 4 times or so before completing optimization so don't freak out, it will optimize them all and then boot. You should now have a fully rooted Cubot x15 complete with xposed framework.
If you have any questions or if I wasn't clear enough on a certain part please feel free to ask and I'll try my best to help. I'll even reflash my phone if you get stuck and need help, we'll figure it out. Any ways, I hope this helps you guys and it has been working stable for me so far.
Hello, thank you for your detailled instructions, but i can not open the dropbox link. so i could not get the cwm_recovery.img. Please shre it once more. Thanks

In this guide, I will show how to how to change from LVM to Chinese unification storage method. Windows OS Only.
This guide is specifically for Oppo Find 7(A/S).
The idea of changing to chinese unification storage method is to have access to 8.1 Android operating system and future Android OS builds.
Please follow these following steps in order be able to run 8.1 Android on your OPPO Find 7.
1) Back up only your internal storage because after you flash the following tools, the internal storage will be wiped completely.
2) Download this file (for OPPO Find 7s) and this file (for OPPO Find 7a) then run the following steps:
Extract the files, and locate the QcomMtk_Driver_Setup.exe (*install this driver*) and reboot your computer system.
After rebooting, take off the battery off the Oppo find 7 and press the volume up button and connect to the PC using a micro USB cable. Go to the device manager, open the ports tab and there should be something like qualcomm etc. If there is no warning sign then you are fine and you should proceed along the steps. If there is a warning sign, just right click on the driver and update by letting windows finding the appropriate drivers.

Then go back to the folder where you extract the zip file and locate (X9077_Android5.0_32G_20150520.exe) or X9007 respectively and run as administrator. rights only.
Agree with the licence. As shown in the image.
Now, again, make sure your battery is removed, hold volume up button and connect to the pc.
Click the first top left button as indicated in the image below.
Now, the software should do the rest so please be patient and wait until the green line has finished and the timeclock down on the bottom right as come to a halt.
After the green line has finished, please remove your device and plug back your battery. Let the device fully boot up before moving on the following steps.
After you get to the setup screen. Press and hold the power off button and shutdown fully before going back to the fast boot mode by pressing volume up and power button at the same time, the battery needs to be installed this time.
-
Now, flash the twrp modded image using fast boot flash and download the two files fastboot and twrp-modded img :
1) Have your phone in bootloader mode. (Turn off your phone, press volume up button and power button together and connect usb).
2) Navigate to the folder and click on the top left of the folder and copy that. e.g C:\Users\samgi\Desktop\platform-tools
3) Open cmd and type in: cd C:\Users\samgi\Desktop\platform-tools
4) In cmd type in: fastboot flash recovery image-modded.img
4) Remove USB and press power button and volume down button simultaneously.
-After you have flashed the recovery, boot into recovery and store the ROM, GAPPS and cm13 unified patch in the external sd card using your USB.
Download your favourite 9.0 ROM:
crDroid for example: https://androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=262369
Install GAPPS (only pico):
http://opengapps.org/
After you have downloaded all the files rom gapps cm13 patch etc. Make sure to flash each of the zip files one by one:
1) Flash ROM
2)Flash Pico Gapps
3)Flash CM13 Patch here
So basically, just head over to https://download.lineageos.org/find7 and download the latest Lineage OS 16 ROM. Then download the MindTheGapps (since pico OpenGapps can't work) from https://androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=170282 make sure to get 9.0.0arm.
Reboot to recovery, wipe the dalvik, system and cache. Then proceed with installing the the LOS 16 ROM. After that, you can flash the CM 13 patch and the gapps (MindTheGapps). It's ok to do gapps first before the CM 13 patch. I noticed that it makes no difference. Works the same every time.
Well, that's about it, reboot and enjoy. OTA should work after this. I think.
Good luck.
Then, simply clear cache and boot to your 9.0 OS. P.S don't forget to restore your data that you deleted in step one.
Optional: If you want to go back to Color OS or you have hard-bricked your OPPO Find 7(A/S) this tool will help you get back to stock firmware.
STOCK FIRMWARE (LVM)
Here are the instructions to unbrick your phone:
This is going to be a step by step guide on how to unbrick your OPPO FIND 7 (A/S)
Before attempting this guide, Windows is needed to be in "Test Mode".
To do this:
1) Open CMD with admin rights, and type "bcdedit /set testsigning on" without the colons.
2) Restart your computer.
End result:
This will check if this guide is applicable.
Note: Make sure your device has at least 70% battery. Charge it for an hour or so if you are not sure about the amount of battery left.
Note 2: I'll assume you are an admin of the computer you are using.
1) Disconnect your device from your charger/computer, etc.
2) Take out the battery and wait for 5 seconds.
3) Put the battery back in, hold the Power+Volume Up buttons and plug it into the computer.
4) Release your hands, and go to Device Manager. (How to go to device manager below)
1. Click the start menu
2. Right click Computer (Right hand side)
3. Click Properties
4. On the left hand side, click on Device Manager
5) Under Ports, you'll see either QHSUSB_BULK or Qualcomm *blah blah blah* 9006/9008
If you don't see any of the three, you're doing it wrong (Probably).
If you're not seeing it, try connecting your device without the battery.
Next, we uninstall the drivers. Simple enough.
WARNING: This part is only for people seeing Qualcomm 9006/9008 in Device Manager.
1) Uninstall the driver. (Right click your device, then click Uninstall. If prompted, delete driver software too)
2) Unplug your device.
3) Take out the battery and wait for 5 seconds.
4) Put the battery back in, hold the Power+Volume Up buttons and plug it into the computer.
5) Release your hands, and go to Device Manager.
You should see QHSUSB_BULK, if not, you might be doing it wrong.
Now we install the proper drivers.
NOTE: You should be seeing QHSUSB_BULK in your Device Manager, if not you're doing it wrong.
1) Download the Find 5 Drivers and unzip the file anywhere.
2) Right click on your device showing QHSUSB_BULK and click on Update Driver Software.
3) Click on "Browse my computer for driver software", and select the folder in which you extracted the drivers to.
4) It will install automagically. If prompted, click on Install the driver anyway.
After installing, your device should say Qualcomm *blah blah blah* 9006/9008.
The moment all of you have been waiting for. Unbrick!
NOTE: Your device should be connected at all times.
1) Download the tool that will save you below.
2) Extract the contents from the zip file.
3) Open the .exe file with admin rights.
4) There should be a line that is visibly different from others.
5) If there is, click start and wait till that line turns green. (It takes a few minutes. Generally nothing should go wrong at this stage.) If there isn't, you're doing it wrong.
6) After the line turns green, unplug your device and hold the power button until you see the Oppo logo.
7) If all goes well, you should be booted to ColourOS v1.2.5i.
If everything went through smoothly, you should be unbricked and ready to brick your device again.

Sorry for the late reply,
Don't worry, I will upload the tool also that I managed to download when oppo forums was running and luckily saved that on my hard drive :') so if you do brick your phone, the software will put you back to default X9076 color OS software mode so you're safe.
1. This guide is for Oppo Find 7s. The 8.1 android OS does not recognise X9076 (LVM) and shows "encryption unsuccessful" whenever you boot into the OS. However, when your phone shows X9077 (Chinese unified method) the 8.1 recognises and lets you boot successfully. I'm not quite sure why OPPO had to make this sooooo confusing. Lol.
2. I am running the latest Windows 10 Anniversary Update.
3. I'm not sure what you're asking ? It does not matter 32-bit or 64 bit
4. I'm literally running CrDroid and its amazing, the latest update just got out online check it out.
Let me know if you need further help.

What's the problem? I think they had a 7.1 forum but I'm not sure if it's closed
If 7.1 i think no connection on this 8.1 version, right? But if u dont mind i wanna ask if u have this issues.
My problem is weird ....
1. Press long at recent button will appear some apps that we have opened.. at the top have lock button, right? I already press that button become lock. But that make it permanent... in no time will be unlock.
2. Last night when i sleep i leave my phone idle with battery 100%, at morning i woke up and see my phone low batt with 13%. Weird draining battery so fast. Nothing running only some email and chat that i haven' t read. Maybe the notification light?
Tq.

The first problem I'm not sure lol ?
The second problem is maybe most likely of background apps turn off any background apps that might be running i.e apps that run constantly Facebook Instagram others. One recommendation to turn off Wifi and mobile data so there is no data incoming/outgoing when you go bed.

Also i cant play Mobile Legends anymore always force-close lol

That,s weird battery usage. When I leave a 100% battery at night, next morning ( about 8 hours) I have about 90+% left, and I leave WiFi and mobile data on all night. Though I use Servicely and Project Skynet Raising.

Best advice would be to reflash the ROM with pico gapps or at last change to another 8.1 ROM i.e lineage rom or omni 8.0

Quick question for you mate. Can the flap covering the type-C port be removed? I use magnetic charging cables and would be leaving a tip permanently plugged in to the port.
Ya you could rip it off , but why? you'd bypass the water proofing better to purchase a wireless charger
Doogee S98
I am writing the review just after receiving the Doogee S98 Classic Black 8GB RAM / 256GB ROM version.
It’s available in three colors: Red, Orange, and Black. Let’s start, what I got in the box?
Unboxing
The Doogee S98 comes with a lot of accessories. The box is containing the phone, User Manual, Warranty Certificate, USB Type-C to Type-C Cable, 11V/3A Rapid Charger, Anti-explosion film(pre-applied),screen protector and Card Slot Opener .
Design
Starting from the design, good use of rubber and aluminum to protect the phone from shock and drop. The device feels really solid, probably one of the advanced-rugged phones in the price category, and overall the build quality is decent. Being a rugged phone, it isn't possible to expect the most compact device. Due to the huge battery and body cover with multiple layers of rubber, I feel it cumbersome and bulky (Height: 172 mm, Width: 82 mm, Thickness: 15.5 mm and Weight (including battery): 320 g) although heavy it seems to be balanced in handling.
On the front side, Doogee adopts 6.3-inch FHD+ 1080 x 2340p resolution, the glass uses Corning Gorilla Glass Protection. The upper side of the device there are a Front-Facing Camera, Voice Receiver, Indicator Light, Ambient Light and Proximity Sensor hole.
As regards the lower front side, there isn't anything at all. At the bottom, there are Speaker, Type C Port, and Microphone.
The upper back side of the device features a big Circle Shape Rear Display. On the right side of the rear display 64MP Main Camera and 2 infrared night vision lights. On the Left side of the rear display 20MP Night vision Camera and 8MP Wide angle camera are located. Under the rear display there is a big LED flash light. On the lower back side of the phone, there isn't anything at all except a Doogee Logo.
On the right side of the phone, there are a Volume up and down buttons, Power button and Fingerprint sensor.
On the left side of the phone, there is SIM/TF Cards Tray and Custom Key function Button.
Custom Key
it is very useful for the quick launch of anything from the phone with a single click, double clicks, and long press. For example open camera, access to gallery, voice recorder, open any application etc
You can set three quick things from the phone.
One-click to open
double click to open
Long Press to open
No Audio Port on the Phone Interesting.
*FM: Insert the headphone adapter and the headphone supports external amplifier
Main Display
The Doogee S98 adopts 6.3-inch FHD+ 1080 x 2340p resolution, As regards the screen, it is just perfect. It’s Bright enough for a decent outdoor usage. I found it pretty good, with excellent color accuracy and an overall nice viewing experience.
Rear Display
There is a Unique Circle shape rear display, it is quick access to checking the time, picking and canceling incoming calls, playing and pausing music, and other notifications displayed on the display. There are pre installed themes for the watch, incoming call, and music.
Biometrics and passwords
The Doogee S98 features three types of biometrics. Screen lock , fingerprints, and face unlock.
I tried both fingerprints and face unlock and found it very accurate and fast, and face unlock worked even in dark as well.
Camera:
An outdoor phone needs to be a great camera. Thanks, Doogee for not adding the fake cameras Setup. It’s equipped with AI Triple Camera (64MP+20MP +8MP), the manufacturer of the main camera not mentioned. The Doogee Added Sony IMX350 20MP night vision camera and Samsung S5k4h7 8MP wide Angle camera. Autofocus works quickly, on-screen shutter button and custom physical button both work very quick. The pictures are usually sharp, the colors look natural and the contrasts are also great. Even in Low light and night vision camera deliver awesome result. It has a Samsung S5K3P9S5p 16MP Front camera for a selfie.
Very good in daylight / good light, but in low light, you need some light for great result.
From Main Camera you can capture up to 2K video and 1080P from Front camera.
Hardware
It’s powered by Helio G96 octa-core processor; it can run at the rate of 2.1GHz. With the support of the 8GB RAM, 256GB ROM, External Storage:T-Flash Card up to 512GB
and a ARM Mali-G57
GPU, the processor can perform every task smoothly. That’s mean you can watch 4K videos and play heavy games without any problem.
Geekbench Benchmark 1864 (Multi-Core)
Geekbench Benchmark 533 (Single Core)
test antutu benchmark ~335699
Doogee S98 is performing better than 78% Smartphone
Battery
As we know that, outdoor phone need to have a big battery with quick charger and it is a vital part of the rugged phone. Doogee S98 has 6000mAH battery with11V/3A charger. It supports 15W wireless Charging and 33W Type C Fast Charge. The Phone can standby for 430 hours or play games for 10 hours.
Software
Doogee chooses to use a pure Android OS for this device. It runs on Android 12.0 with Updated security patches and no bloat ware pre-installed. The OS feels smooth.
Outdoor Tools there are too many outdoor tools like a Compass, Gradienter, Flashlight, Hanging Paint, Height meter, magnifier, alarm bell, Plumb bob, Protractor, noise test, and pedometer.
Audio
Doogee added one stereo speaker system which provides pretty high and decent sound quality. It has No distortion at maximum volume as well. Overall there is no major problem in the audio section.
IP68 / IP69K / MIL-STD-810G certifications: it has a such certification that means it can survive in water, dust, and unexpected drop.
OTG: its supporting OTG function and it can charge your Android and IOS devices
Sensors: if we talking about the sensors than Doogee S98 comes with all important sensors like an Ambient Light Sensor, E-Compass, Geomagnetic Sensor, Gyroscope, Proximity Sensor.
NFC: Thankful to Doogee for adding NFC on the device.
GPS: Excellent GPS result, too many satellites with strong signals I got outdoor and indoor as well.
Coming SOON

I've rooted mine. There's no TWRP for any Doogee product, AFAIK.
I'll see about writing a quick&dirty guide to rooting the phone.
Quick&dirty guide to rooting the Doogee S98 with Magisk.
This will break OTA updates.
You'll need the following software installed on your PC:
ADB/Fastboot Drivers
You'll also need to have downloaded the latest Magisk apk (currently 25.1) onto your PC, or know how to get it installed on the phone later on.
Download the relevant ROM update for your phone via Doogee Mall
https://doogeemall.com/community/xenforum/search?q=S98
Unzip the ROM somewhere and locate boot.img from the zip file. We'll be patching this later.
Enable Developer Options mode on the phone. Settings|About Phone. Tap Build number at the bottom 5 times to enable Developer mode.
Settings|System|Developer Options
Enable OEM Unlocking and USB Debugging. Accept any warnings that come up.
Connect phone to PC via USB cable. Accept the prompt on the phone to allow debugging from the computer
Open command prompt on PC and navigate to where you have the adb.exe and fastboot.exe files located from the ADB Drivers package
At command prompt enter:
adb devices
You should see your phone listed there. If it says "Unauthorized," then you didn't accept the prompt to allow debugging from the computer. If there's nothing listed, then you didn't enable USB debugging.
The following steps will reset your phone back to factory settings. If there's anything you need to back up, do so before proceeding.
At CP:
adb reboot bootloader
Once phone boots to the bootloader (there will be a couple of lines of text at the bottom of the screen) enter at CP:
fastboot flashing unlock
Follow the relevant prompts on the phone to unlock the bootloader. Those with poor vision may want to use a magnifier as the writing is pretty small on the screen. The phone is factory reset with this process.
Command prompt:
fastboot reboot
As phone reboots, you'll see a message about device being unlocked and cannot be trusted on the initial Android boot screen.
Do your initial setup.
Get Magisk installed on the phone. Do this by USB file transfer from the apk you downloaded earlier, or by downloading direct on to the phone.
Copy the boot.img from the ROM zip file onto the device in a location you'll remember (Internal Storage/Download is probably the easiest)
Launch Magisk on the phone and select "Install"
Select "Select and patch a file" and then select the boot.img you copied to the device.
Magisk will create a new file called magidsk_patched_xxxx_xxx.img in the Download folder.
Transfer this img onto your PC. Probably easiest to put it in the same folder that adb.exe and fastboot.exe are located.
Enable Developer options/ADB again as they'll have been removed with the factory reset. Confirm with "adb devices"
At CP:
adb reboot bootloader
At CP:
fastboot flash boot magisk_patched_xxxx_xxx.img (use the file name of the patched image. pressing TAB to auto-complete is probablhy easiest here)
At CP:
fastboot reboot
Phone should be rooted at this point. Confirm by starting Magisk and checking what version is installed.

Tried this procedure on the latest available ROM (V3.02_20221209-1006) and it bricked my phone.
Fortunately I was able to restore it using Mediatek SP Flash tool
For the new(er) Firmwares you can follow Minotaur's procedure , but do NOT use the command
Code:
flashboot flash boot xxxx.img
, but you should use
Code:
flashboot flash boot_a xxx.img
(where xxx.img is the boot.img that was patched with Magisk)
Quick guide for those that ever come in the same situation of bricking this phone (or want to restore the phone to factory defaults/firmware):
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
-turn off the phone completely; either by holding the power button for 5+ seconds or from within the recovery
NB: Make sure the phone is not connected to USB or any other external power source, otherwise it will turn on automatically again
-Download and install the mediatek SP Flash Tool and Mediatek Driver auto installer :
Download SP Flash Tool for Windows and Linux (MediaTek Flash Tool)
Download SP Flash Tool (Smartphone Flash Tool) that allows you to flash or install Stock Firmware ROM (Flash File) on Mediatek Devices.
androidmtk.com
(I used flash tool v5.2216, which works for the S98 Pro)
-Download the required ROM :
OneDrive
onedrive.live.com
(do not download Doogee's flashtool version as it doesn't work)
-unzip the ROM/Firmware file you downloaded
-start the Mediatek flashtool and choose as download agent (preset) MTK_AllInOne_DA.bin
select the scatter file in the unzipped ROM folder..it is probably called MT6781_android_scatter.txt
(after selecting the scatter file, the main-window should be filled with img-files)
select in the dropdown box: "Firmware-upgrade"
click the "Download" (green arrow pointing down) button
Now connect the phone to your computer using USB.
The phone will turn on as soon as you connect the USB and the Flash tool should automatically start the ROM/Firmware installation process
Once finished the phone should restart and will be restored to factory defaults.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Hope this helps.
I'm Loving the S98 Pro with Thermal camera so far.
Does anyone know if there is a way to turn off the always on camera flash?
