SD card problems - HTC 10 Questions & Answers

Does anyone else have random SD card problems it just stops reading the card. I have a genuine 128gig Samsung card. Works fine in my m8, and s7..... But for what ever reason my m9 and now 10 I get random issues. I could be watching a movie on card and middle of movie stops. Or now I woke up and not even using phone and there was an error.
HTC 10

That's unfortunate. Which SD ? model?
Sent from my HTC 10 using XDA-Developers mobile app

I'm having the same issue. I have a SanDisk 128GB that worked perfectly on my S7 Edge and LG V10. Now that I inserted this same SDCard on my Verizon HTC 10 is randomly being "unmounted" with no apparent reason.

I have the same issue with HTC 10. And I am using a genuine samsung64GB card. HTC m8 never had this issue. With HTC 10, It takes a long time until I am even able to view any photos on the card. Very disappointing.

SD issue affecting SOME HTC 10/S7/LG G5
This seems to be frequent to a certain extent. I am reading on other forums as I also have this issue with the S7 and now I am seeing more and more similar issues with LG G5 and HTC 10 as well. It could be a marchmallow issue, but I believe it is a hardware issue as it is a small portion of devices that are affected. Same with Edge or non-Edge (visit page: digitaltrends.com/mobile/galaxy-s7-edge-problems/8/
I got my new S7. I have sent to other one for repair. They changed the motherboard. Then it came back with the same issue. Then Samsung sent me a bran new S7. I have no more SD card notifications at all. Not even when I reboot the phone. Yesterday (again) I was listening to music (a set of 2 hours long) from my SD card. I started to look at pictures (again) at the same time. After 40 mins or so, my phone stopped the music and stopped being able to read my SD. Everything froze and I had to reboot. Then, again, a few mins later (listening to music and looking at pictures), it did it again. On the second time, I was not able to reboot the phone using the power button (keeping pressure for 10 seconds). I had to do it using the volume down/home/power. The phone screen was totally black and there was no way to unfreeze it. My notification light was flashing blue (as I had new emails and text), but the phone was not responsive at all.
It seems like Samsung just removed the SD notification as a whole in the new phone but did not fix the issue.
For those who don't have the issue, before commenting, I would appreciate if you could listen to music and look at your pictures at the same time (all from the micro SD card) for at least 30-40 minutes.
I strongly believe that ALL phones have this issue, but that those who don't just have not access pictures while listening to music (demanding on the SD card reading). Do it if you can... and see if it creates problems. And let me know once you did the above.
I forgot to mention. I am a computer and smartphone savy. I flashed all my S1, S2, S3, S4 on a daily basis. I did purchased another SD card (even if my sandisk is working perfectly on my S5). I got a Samsung evo 64gm. The issue remains on both SD cards, and before you comment about it, YES i did reformat on multiple occasions both with my pc AND within the phone. I also did factory reset on multiple occasions. So it is not the SD's the problem. Just trust, I did everything possible.

Mine kept unmounting itself when using google play music. a reboot fixed it though.

This just happened to me:
My SanDisk 64 gb is "not supported" Formatting doesn't help, going to try and format on PC

Could this be to do with the rating of the SD card? Particularly phones like htc 10 that can utilise adaptable storage?

That is true. I resolved my issue by running RUU

happens to me as well, using same San Disk 128gb card as was being used in my Z5 with no issues.....worked fine for a while, then error message first appeared, then fine for a week, then error again.....I wonder if switching to adaptable storage solves the issue? Don't really want to do that to be honest.

I wonder if samsung SD are better. I ordered one and see. It seems more like a SD card issue. I don't know what to think anymore.

What's your card - I think I missed?

I same issue,
Re-insert SD-Card - Re-inserted while still ON - SD Card Doesn't remount.
Turn Phone Off and reinsert Reboot - SD Card mounts fine.
Seems to unmount when plugging in and out of the charger, but not always. Usually every morning when I wake up and phone has been on charge over night. Not sure of the relevance.
HTC 10, 128GB Sandisk Ultra Micro SD. - SD setup as integrated storage.
Just tried moving the apps installed on to the SD Card. and now I don't get the error message about the card. but the the card is still unmounting, as it keeps disappearing from esexplorer.
Finally managed to copy files off the SD Card even though it kept unmounting. changed the storage to portable. seem to work ok now.

I'm also having this issue. SanDisk Extreme class 10 128 GB. It only started when I downloaded some albums for plane use on Google Music. It was flawless before that.
---------- Post added at 05:09 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:54 PM ----------
Update: deleted all of my offline downloads in Google Music and it stopped unmounting.
More update: have my camera set to removable storage and took a pic. It unmounted. How frustrating..

Im using Lexar Pro 128gb and I dont have issues with it. I also formatted it as adaptive storage and Spotify is using the card at the same time most of my games are installed on the SD and running without issues.

Memory Card Corruptions...

I'd love to know if there's a fix for the following that a simple git like me can apply.
This has happened more than once to me, normally when I can get to my home and fix the problem. Not so this time: I'm away from home this weekend, that, as they say, is that.
This evening, the card got corrupted somehow as I tried to play some music to a freind, effectivly bricking most of the aps I use on the damn phone (I run them from the card to preserve available memory for use on the phone). I'm not at all happy, and it would appear to be a fault with the filing system under winmob.
The phone's running WM6.1 as I'm NOT able or competent to change/flash the OS (I'm a basic user, not a whizz kid). 16 gigs of card just went. that's ALL my music, two GPS survey applications, two SATNAV applications, all my reference documentation in PDF format, and so on. Thank God I've backed the damn thing up at home.
Unless someone can show me a definitive and permenant fix for this FUBAR, it's definate that the next phone I get will therefore NOT use WinMob, it'll use Linux or something similar.
I am NOT impressed.
the last time i had winmo corrupt an SD card was back in 2003 when it was windows mobile 2003 SE. I was using a torrent app and running multiple downloads at the same time.
So i'd suspect several read/writes happening at the same time to cause it being currupted.
I currently install the majority of my apps on SD and have all my navigation maps on it as well and haven't had an issue.
What kind of SD card to you have? maybe its at fault.
Thanks for the reply.
I was only trying to access a single music track on the card at the time, so multiple accesses shouldn't be an issue. It's a SanDisk 16 Gig MicroSD card. My previous phone was a Sable (hw6915), and I never once had any form of ram card problems with that.
Any ideas?

Definatly sounds like you just got a bad SD card... especially if it happens often.
On a side note. The available memory is there TOO install the aps to your device. What's the point in having its stay available. Dont confused available memory with available ram which will dictate how quick/smooth your phone runs. The only times I've had issues with available program memory is when I have my phone loaded up with tons of aps and go to install something crazy big.
Also, aps tend to run quicker off your device as opposed to the SD card. If I'm wrong on that someone else can chime in.
Obviously you'll want to keep all your music and pdf and gps maps and such on the SD card. But... yeah.. sounds like you just got a bad card. In no way is it normal to have a card corrupt more then a few times over the life span. Hell I've had an 8 gig card for a few years now and I've not had one issue with it.
My advice, purchase a new card and bring all your backups to the new card.
edit: On a side note... can you put your card in someone else phone and see if their phone is able to read it in the condition it is in? Or when you do put it into a computer if it just simply says it needs to be formated.
You're the only person I have ever really heard that has this issue. Sorry I do hope it works out for you!
It can be read by the PC no problems, I just read it in there an hour ago or so after getting back home again (I try to drive long distances at night, when the roads here in the UK are quieter!).
Yeah, I was afraid someone was going to comment on it being a duff card. Oh, well. Guess it's time to shell out for another card, this time, I think, from a different manufacturer, if there is one.
Got any recommendations?
If its a legit sandisk you shouldn't be having issues with it. Did you buy it off ebay or a chinese site? they're known to sell fake SD cards and i think sandisk has a page on their site about how to spot fakes.
Maybe try getting everything off the card, check it for bad clusters and re-format it (not the quick format). Meineyss (sp?) has a guide written somewhere on xda-devs about the preferred format for winmo sd cards. ( i think its fat32, someone correct me if i'm wrong.)
Should be a legit one - I bought it from the same bricks and mortar shop that I bought the phone from.
I've reformatted the damn thing at least three times in the six months I've had it, each time using Fat32; Never checked for bad clusters (and don't know how either - any help appreciated, thanks). I'll look up that guide, again, thanks.
OK, searched extensively, even looked for the member id, no joy - any ideas where that article is?
I'm sure you formatted your card by now. I used to have a problem with my Tilt where it would appear all of the programs vanished from my card but really they were still there. If I checked the memory left on the card I would see the card was not empty.
I found out the problem occured if there was a reset while the phone was accessing the card. If I went to the program that was last accessing the card it would somehow restore everything. Mostly this would happen if I was istening to music or using TomTom. I don't know if something similar happened to you.
OK, over a year on, but here's the update/closure posting.
The card in question locked itself into read only, somehow; Over the last year, while awaiting my upgrade to mature (there another phrase for this?

), I tried many different ways to fix the issue, and none worked. I even tried reformatting the card several times - no joy.
So, the card had to be written off, which was a hell of a shame, but at least I had the contents backed up.
I am now convinced that this was an issue to do with the way that Windows Mobile addressed data on memory cards; I just don't know how to go about proving it.
So, when upgrade time arrived, I decided that it was time to bin the issue, and change OS. Don't get me wrong: The Touch Pro 2 is an excellent phone, and did me proud in its performance over the two years I used it; however, with the lack of - and how I hate this word - new applications (why can't they be called Software packages, it's what they are, after all?) being developed for WinMob 6.x, it was time for a change.
As you can see from the updated signature below, I'm now the proud new owner of an HTC Sensation Z710e Android phone - which came with an 8 Gig card in it, ready to go
And very happy with my new acquisition I am too

1) A corrupt SD card:
Deftone said:
SD cards, especially the Micro SD generation can be damaged very easily if you are not careful. Any physical damage to the card will or the gold contacts will cause it to become unreadable. You know your card is corrupt when the computer cannot explore the card. SD cards can be damaged by forcing them out of the device they are in. If your SD card has become stuck in your computer, camera, MP3 player or printer.
It is best to take the device to a professional to have it removed, rather than trying to force the card from the device using probes, such as paperclips or screwdrivers. If the casing for your SD card becomes damaged or you accidentally damage the inside of your card, you could lose the data currently stored on the card and render the card useless in the future. Also, once it is corrupt, you cannot even sell it for parts or use it as a paperweight because of its low weight.

2) Dirty Contacts:
Deftone said:
If the gold contacts are dirty in anyway, this will mean the device will not be able to read it. Using a finger can scratch the contacts and make it corrupt. Instead use a cloth, microfiber if you have one. The reader, (device) will also accumulate dust over time. Clean out the reader with an earbud. This may also solve this issue.
ADDITIONAL: Thanks to hb-kevin for mentioning that you can " clean the contacts with denatured alcohol. It's a cleaning alcohol that is perfectly safe on electronics such as computers, motherboards, and phone parts. If all else fails, try giving the contacts a gentle scrub with some alcohol and a soft toothbrush. "

3) Corrupt Data:
Deftone said:
Removing an SD card from a computer without properly ejecting it can cause software damage to the card. Removing your SD card while your computer is trying to read it or removing the card from a camera or MP3 player that is powered on could cause your SD card to lose the data that is stored on it and force you to reformat the card before using it again. Many tools can be found online to help you with this pursuit.

4) Casing:
Deftone said:
SD cards are enclosed in a small plastic casing that can be easily damaged if the card is left unprotected in a pocket, chewed on by the dog or stepped on. If the casing for your SD card has become damaged, do not put the card into a device (it might become stuck). Instead, take the card to a data recovery center in your area and have a professional recover any files you might need from the card.

5) The "Write Protected" Issue
Deftone said:
On many SD cards (not many micro) there is a physical switch on the side of the card. This is a write lock. This means that if the switch is up and locked, the sd will refuse any data trying to be written to it. As a result, no data will be copied to the card - if it is in a computer, you will get a popup dialogue notifying you that it is write protected, just flick the switch.
The write protection could have also been enabled in a computer. To disable it, just right click on the SD in my computer and then click properties. Then go to attributes. If "read only" is checked, uncheck it. This could be the source of your problems.

Hey,
Thanks for using the sticky properly. You said you just want it to work again. Have you tried everything I suggested? If so then please come back and tell me exactly what is the problem. Is there an error or is nothing showing up. Please expand. Also, if you can I would suggest trying to get a new card reader. But please read through my thread thoroughly before replying again. It saves us a lot of time.

Thanks, this could be useful for my friend. He had a messed up sd card, hope I could get it to work with this.
I just bought a new Samsung 16Gb Class 10 micro SD card to replace my old 2Gb card.
First thing when I plug it in, it says it is damaged, and gives me an option to format the card. > Formatted using the phone, the card does not show up. From storage I can activate the SD card as it is still not showing, and the same thing comes up, over and over again. If I plug in the old one, no problem there, working like a charm.
I inserted it to my laptop with the SD adapter that came with it, and it shows up just fine ( size 15Gb). Windows XP format tool does not allow format to NTFS so I looked forward, ended up downloading HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool and SDFormatter. I got the card formatted to NTFS, but my phone still is saying the same thing.
What can I do next?

Hey,
This is because the physical switch on your sd is on lock. Try sliding it the other way. This will un-lock it.
If this fails you could try right clicking on your sd in my computer. Going to properties and then unchecking read-only.
Thanks for this, I will add it to the guide.

Hey There,
My best bet would be that your card is corrupt. Try formatting to other formats (FAT32). Then see if it works. Have you tried everything in the guide?
P.S: Thanks to all others for the support, I will try and answer any questions that you post here.
I've had some of these problems throughout the years but 90% of the times it was because on my microSD to SD converter (those SD cards that have a microSD slot in it) I didn't put the card very well or it was just one millimeter out. I really hate how these converters don't have that "click and lock" thingy when you put the microSD card, it's really helpful to keep them inside.
Also, this caused corruption sometimes.

Appreciate that!
i bought a 32gb transcend micro sdhc yesterday..went home, placed it in card reader, wrote backup on it, worked fine, i could r/w on it with my laptop..then i placed it in my phone [xperia sola 6.1.1.B.1.54 stock rooted bl locked], booted it and explored it using astro and root explorer, worked fine, i could r/w on it with those apps...the problem is when i open walkman there are no songs/albums detected, so i tried exploring an album and playing it via astro and walkman was able to play the song but just the one song i selected..its also the same with sony album app there are no pictures detected from external card, so i tried viewing a pic the same way i played the song, i was able to view the one pic i selected..there are no errors popping up, which is why its so confusing..i managed to make it work last night by clearing dalvik cache, but when i woke up this morning the problem began again..any advice?
btw on stock camera app i selected external memory as save location, when i open the app it says memory error but when i take a pic it can save there as well, i took a pic and album was able to see the new pic but not the old ones..am i missing something with permissions?i already tried changing the permissions for external memory using root explorer but failed, something about sd file systems not allowing permission changes..i already formatted it countless times to fat32 still the same..it really is working fine, its just that the apps arent able to access it for some reason or another..
update: i just restored my phone with backup from 2days ago and cleared my dalvik cache..its working now..my concern is if i restart my phone im probably gonna go over everything again..this is really weird
hope I could get it to work with this. thanks man

Problem with SD card

Hi I had this phone for while and bought the sandisk Ultra 32GB class 10 sd card when I got this awesome phone. However lately my phone was acting strange. For past 4 days my phone will randomly unmount SD card and notify me that it got disconnected. When I turn on the screen then it will shortly mount the SD card and does not show these problem. Not only that these is happening consistently and keeping my phone awake and draining my battery as well. I don't have picture with me since I format my whole phone and SD card but this will happen at least 20 to 30 times in a hour.
I used to use Saurom Project Hybird 1.3.2 before and I format everything, from TWRP, and installed CleanRom ACE 4.5 but it is still happening with same problem.
Is there any way to fix these problem?

I have the same problem with a 32gb San disk, after searching all day the only conclusion I came up with is that sd card is going bad and needs to be replaced preferably for one that is not a SanDisk. I guess they are not compatible
Thanks. I was hoping that I didn't had to do that. Anyway do you have any other brand that is good?
I guess your best bet would be going with a Samsung sd card just to avoid having problems in the future.
I'm having the same problem it is not your SD card or at least I don't think so I read a different XD a thread for hey note 2 on a different carrier it was over 17 pages long of people having the exact same issue some say that the SanDisk 32 they are so then and that put in a piece of paper behind them will solve the problem but I'm not finding that word besides I find it funny it only does this when my phone is in sleep or when I'm in a phone call it is very annoying I currently am being told I have a blank SD card and sometimes later it may just work for no reason

If you're getting heavy Media Server battery usage with the unmounts, it's could be a bad media file on your SD card crashing the Media Server and causing the unmounts.
I deleted podcasts, videos, and mp3s off of my SD card and the error went away. A clean format of the card should also work.
I dont think that was my case. I format the sd card and keep it empty and mount the sd card and it was still having the problem. However when I change my sd card to my old one the error when away. I guess I got bad sd card.

[Q] Phone freezes when trying to access photos on ext. SD Card

I have 812 pictures in my Camera album on my external Toshiba 32GB Class 10 SD card. When I first got the phone in December, everything worked great, even after transferring from my EVO 3D. Now, whenever I try to access my stuff on my SD card through the Gallery app, it just freezes. I can hit home and exit the app, but back doesn't work and I cannot scroll anywhere. I can still access pictures via ASTRO and save stuff on to it..I just don't anymore, in case it goes corrupt. Any solutions? I tried searching, but no one seems to have the same problem as me..
Lol. Sounds like a simple cache issue with the gallery. Go to settings, application manager, all apps, find gallery, try clearing cache, and if that doesn't solve the problem, delete data. This will not delete your images. I think it may or may not delete your thumbnails. Just scroll over the images again and a thumbnail is remade. Nothing will harm your photos.

hmmm... I would normally say that the 800+ images in one gallery might be the cause of the problem. But you say that it was working fine previously. Even then, I'd recommend to split the images into different folders (maybe based on month they were taken) to minimize the amount of thumbnails that gallery has to process and look through.
I'm assuming you've done the MA6 and MB1 updates. Perhaps upgrading the phone to 4.1.2 caused this? I haven't heard of anything similar on XDA, but I'd stick with kkarson's approach and clear cache from the gallery app. Hope that works for ya!
Already tried clearing the cache and data from the Application Manager, but still the same results. I have a folder of old camera photos from my EVO 3D with 1780 photos in it, and it opens and I can view the photos perfectly fine, with no lag or freezing. But when I open the "Camera" folder on the ext. SD card, it just freezes and I have to go back to the home screen. I just upgraded to MB1 today and still the same results..

Maybe there's corrupted files on the SD card causing the phone to choke when it tries to read them. If you have windows 7 or XP you can put the card in your pc, (with a card reader or usb card reader), then right click on the card and choose properties. Select the tools tab in the properties box. The first option is error checking which will scan the disk and fix errors (if fix errors is checked). However, if there are corrupted files on the SD card it might be going bad and should be reformatted.
I have the same issue. I havent found a fix. I even formatted my external SD card.. didnt help.

No fix. Your Sd card is done. The fix is get a new one.
Also the op likely has Sd card problems and not a phone problem.

The card isnt that old and isnt giving any read/write errors.
I guess that could be the case.. its a class 10 Sandisk card.. I would think it would last more than a couple of months.

Have you benchmarked your read/write speeds to your external sd?

I'm looking at a Sandisk 32GB class 10 ultra card that I got right after xmas so it's only 3 mopnths old. It started spitting out corrupt files after only 1 month. Eventually I'll get another card. But if my phone ever random restarts, or suddenly locks up, or I notice media is using a lot of battery, I know if I run scan disk on the card it will show errors. It lasts for a few weeks between formats.
There are also tons of posts from people that have had sd card failures on this phone (also with new cards).
Scan of my card after phone acted up.

I bought a new class 10 PNY card today. Once I get some pictures on it, I guess we'll see if that was the issue.

Dont worry you're not alone, theres a thread in general that had a ton of posts and the thread title was "If your sdcard failed on you, what recovery were you on?"
Many have had to purchase 2 or 3 cards until they got one that didnt go bad or corrupted. If you got the sdcard (the one that failed) very recently, you could call the manufacturer and tell them it failed on you, I'm sure they would send a replacement because I've seen others do it and they got their replacements in a timely manner

SD card stopped writing

So this started Friday morning but I didn't know what the issue was. I use my SD card for caching music from my All Access Google Play music subscription, and I was actually streaming non-downloaded music at the time, and everything stopped working, and I kept getting errors about not being able to download. Didn't think much of it. Did the standard Routine, reboot, didn't work, so I cleared cache and uninstalled updates on play music and the service was working again and I didn't think about it again until I tried to take a picture later in the evening and got this in the gallery instead of the picture
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3418912&d=1437899706
Again I just did the standard stuff, rebooted, cleared cache and data to the gallery and camera app, but this time nothing was working. I finally decided to change my save location from my SD to my internal storage, and my pictures started saving again. So I connected the dots to what happened with Google Play Music earlier in the day, and checked my downloads, and nothing was downloaded anymore, option to save to SD was grayed out. Naturally I tried to format with the card in the phone, and it acted like it worked ok, but still showed I only had 11gb left of space, and still wouldn't work with anything. So I stuck it in my PC, and windows errors every time I try to format it. I tried with the default windows 8 formatting tool, I've tried with third party tools, same thing, won't format. Card appears to be read only now. How does this happen? It's the free 32GB card I got from LG with the extra battery and charging case I got for buying a G4 before June 30th. In fact I've only had this SD card for maybe a month. Is this some lolipop permissions keeping me from formatting it or is it hosed? I remember reading something about Google changing permissions on the SD with kitkat, but I also read they changed back with lolipop. I also read that LG didn't seem to notice they changed back and kept things the way they were with kitkat. If that's the case how do I take ownership of the whole card so I can format it?
I've had the same problem!

I have no idea of the answer yet but if I find one I'll let you know. But this has happened to 3 different micro sd cards in my LG G4! I don't think it's an android issue I think it's an LG g4 issue. But I'm going to investigate further. Brand new sd cards working fine for a few days then rendered read only and unable to format even on a laptop!
This literally just happened to my 32gb card received with the bundle. Any update?
I had the same issue with a A-Data 128GB UHS-U1. After a month of usage it wouldn't mount on my phone. After trying to format via various means (Disk Management, Partition Magic, SD Formatter) I found my card was set to read-only and nothing would change that. I've had very good experiences with A-Data before so I chalked it up to a manufacturing defectand filed a RMA on the lifetime warranty. Ive got a spare 16GB popped in to see if it's the phone doing it (Also A-Data)., I hope its not the G4 because I love the phone. But if it is I'm not wasting another SD Card and buying another phone.
Sounds like a corrupt sd card somehow.
I have the same issue with a SanDisk 200GB Card as discussed here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/help/phone-upside-screen-off-t3227335
So it's the G4 that is killing the cards?
It's one of 2 things: Either manufacturing defects (which seems more likely) Or a G4 issue (In this case I would expect the issue to be more widespread then the low number of posts). The solution for some seems to be repartitioning the SD card, in my case though it reverts back even after the partitioning, SD Formatter indicates its stuck in read only.
It can also be some of the cards don't work well with the heat the G4 generates. On mines, it doesn't indicate read only but it seems I can't format or write to the card but I can delete from the card fine... I just tried SD Formatter and it basically shows what's attached, I thought only full size SD cards had the write protect switch, is there any software that can make the card write protected or not?

That's the exact same error message I got with SD Formatter, You could try with using partitioning software to see if that works, it was a no go for me. Regarding the heat, that could be an issue too, compared to my previous phone, the G4 runs really hot.
Any Partition software you recommend at it seems MiniTool Partition Wizard doesn't recognize etxfs as a filesystem. The G4 does run pretty hot, so much for the claims of the cards claiming to be resistant to everything...
I did try the Windows Disk Management Tool, but even that can't fix it. Well to be fair, no phone runs as hot as the G4 from my experience, guess LG still makes crap...
Has anyone tried the sd card fix floating around the g4 forum...it's posted at least once in the threads by micromod777 in tmo g4 forum...also to those with unlocked bl have you tried formatting in twrp?
Happened to me too. (SD from promo) I had to replace it. Nothing can be done about it. SD is trashed.

LG aka Lucky Goldstar had always been a low-end brand. The only reason I've switched from Motorola is because of the microSD slot and the removeable battery. Samsung's are more for looks too..

Got a link to the sd card fix?
Some good news, A-Data notified me that they be replacing my micro-sd no strings attached. Sad news is that I'm tried of hardware issues on Android devices. I considered the Moto X Pure and the Nexus 6P, but being a Canadian, I'm getting royally shafted by exchange rates, ended up getting an iPhone 6s.
Same exact issue here with the 32gb card I received free from the promo.
I got ahold of LG and they replaced it. I bought a much nicer sandisk uhs 64gb card while I waited and when the replacement came I put it in the wife's gs5, that was 3 months ago and it's still working so hopefully it'll continue to work

I really think there was something wrong with the previous firmwares. My play music would wipe at least once a month and reading off the card was always sluggish. Ever since the 81010o update everything is fine, and I can take my card out and reinsert it and play music won't delete my music. Unfortunately I believe the previous firmwares were killing cards too
