Obviously the phone comes with a USB a to c charger, but will it work all the same with a QC 3.0 c to c charger?

Yes, of course. It's just a connector.

That's what I thought but some stupid reviewer was complaining about how the HTC opted for usb-c to a instead of c to c like nexus. I thought it was weird that they had a problem with that since it was just a $25 charger.

I have a Nexus 5X, but I bought it only with USB cable type C to USB type A for the computer. The charge is quite slow with a Samsung charger, I want to know if any QuickCharge charger with USB 2.0 with my cable type C have no problems chaging or it's possible to burn something... In my town nobody sells USB type C fast charger.
The Nexus can pull down 15 Watt of power for a quick charge. Your typical USB 2 port is rated for 2.5 Watts. So, no you cannot quick charge the phone without having a charger that is rated for it. And you should not try. There USB C to A cables not built to USB C specs and they actually try to pull 15 watt no matter what the source can deliver. This is dangerous! Just Google it and read about melt downs and fires...
You should be able to get a USB C charger wherever you bought the phone

Ok thanks..
There was nothing said about what's going to be included besides the headphone adapter but I'm curious if the newer model will have the USB A to USB C adapter like last year's model.

Why those cables specifically?
according to this site, they list the contents of the box as:
The smartphone.
USB-C charger.
USB-C to 3.5mm earphone adapter.
User guide.
Power adapter.
edit: likely a copy paste from the official google site... scroll down almost to the bottom of the screen look for "whats in the box"

also dont forget to checkout benson leung's reviews to see which cable/charger will charge your phone and not blow it up.. https://plus.google.com/+BensonLeung
nathan k has a google spreadsheet.. check it out also

what you want in cables / charges / adapters that use usb c
is to be USB-IF Certified

in the market now there are not many options
and the anker were cheaper than belkin

so no cable
but according to google it only for transferring data from your old phone
but i think it is the same one with the first pixel
maybe someone will confirm this
I was a bit surprised to find out that the Pixel 2 doesn't come with a transfer cable, and the only adapter is USB-C to USB-A. Luckily I still had mine from the original Pixel XL, but it was odd that Google didn't include one. Just a heads up for those who haven't received there's yet
That adapter allows you to use your old charging cable to transfer. Adapter into the Pixel 2, old charging cable into adapter and into old phone

I was surprised as well to see no USB-C to USB-A cable included. I also used mine from my original Pixel XL, but Google's cables are of such high quality that I would have loved to have another.

Correct, but this post isn't really about the adapter. It's about Google including one less cable versus last year. The original Pixels included the adapter, a USB-C to USB-C cable, and a USB-C to USB-A cable. The USB-C to USB-A cable is not included with the new Pixels.
And like the new Pixels, some phones these days only come with a USB-C to USB-C cable. The included adapter doesn't help in that situation. Very few devices fall into that scenario, but it still could happen.
The original came with the adapter too? I don't remember that

It did indeed. I've used it frequently for USB OTG.
FYI, you cannot use a normal USB-A cable and the C-to-A adapter and connect your Pixel to a PC. It will not allow you to charge or connect to transfer files.
Really sucks, because I used this at work a lot with my original Pixel XL. Something changed with the new hardware and it prevents you from doing it. Luckily, I also have the original C to A cable that came with my XL.
Definitely a bummer for someone going from iPhone to Pixel 2. Now I have zero cables I can use to charge my new phone in my car. I left Apple because I was tired of being forced to buy extra things to do basic stuff so a little irked that I need to buy a special connector for car charging. Anyone have recommendations on a good cable that will actually work for both charging and data transfer?
They replaced it with the headphone cable.

There are heaps of good USB C to USB A cables out there. If you need one you can buy the google one from their store. Would have been nice to get one in the box, but I still have 3 lying around that I've used for previous type C phones.

So which third party USB C-A cables support the full 18W charging capability of the Pixel 2 besides the overpriced one from Google?
Edit: I found this one which supports USB 3 and up to 3A, if anyone is looking.

No USB A-C cable supports 3A charging unless it is out of spec. Google's A-C cable does not support 18W charging.
https://plus.google.com/+BensonLeung/posts/HakwCMmd346
Do not use a 3A legacy cable to charge your phone, or you may risk damaging something.

Well the cable that I linked does have a 56kΩ pullup resistor, so it should adhere to the USB spec to prevent any damage.

Has anyone tested it to make sure it does though? I've seen several reviews from Nathan/Benson for cables that claim to have a proper resistor but don't.

I literally just got the cable today and noticed it's only saying charging. It should say "rapid charging" if fast charging is work correct?
Anyone confirm of a A-C cable that actually can fast charge?

I did bring up Accubattery and it will only charge at 1a even with a 2.4a charger, which is disappointing.
I received my phone yesterday and found this to be very annoying. I have a few questions:
-Is the USB-C on this phone 3.0 or 3.1 spec or just 2.0? I just assumed all these new phones had 3.0+ speed
-According to google store, the cable that comes with this phone is 2.0 spec ($20 effin dollars?). Is there a 3.0 spec cable that will work?
-Are there any third party cables out there that will fast charge and have 3.0+ spec? (of course 3.0 is pointless if the phone itself maxes out at 2.0)

Yes and Yes.
Hello guys!
So here I am a guy with Pixel 2 XL and I have some issues with the cables I got.
With problems I mean its too short! however, Before I ask if these products are good I will start off by saying im a swedish guy and I will probably send swedish links for the cables but yeah...
So the reason I want to buy a
USB 3.1 to C = Is because of the Car and Powerbank, I have good powerbanks that doesn't support USB C and also my car who only got USB port, If I want to charge them outside I need to buy a new Cable and I found this:
https://new.webhallen.com/se/product/273125-Anker-PowerLine-1m-USB-C-Vit?ref=Prisjakt
Is this good enough?
USB C to C (The OG cable) - the reason I need a new one is because the OG cable is too short for me in the bed when im loading it, I need a miniumum of a 2m cable and of course I want a cable that also support a fast charging or whatever it needs to get it charge the phone fast. I found this:
https://fyndiq.se/product/6787759-deltaco-usb-31-kabel-gen-2-typ-c-hane/
What do you guys think of these to cables? Also if you have a better cable, Please recommend me!
Anyone?

I think both of those choices should work fine. Just a little FYI. If your using a laptop, some people have had issues with 3.x cables, and have had to use 2.0 cables for proper data transfer. For more info to see what others have used, you can look here ?
