Impossible to boot, need help - Nexus 5X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there,
Was taking a picture with my nexus 5x on purenexus rom and my phone suddenly reboot.
Since then, as soon as it past the google logo, the screen turn off and the phone shutdown.
I tried to flash factory image with fastboot, it all went fine, I rebooted and still the same problem.
I tried to factory reset my phone, but than, it still shut down after i passed the google logo.
I don't know what to do, I have my phone for a week but since I unlocked the bootloader to root it, I'm told that the warranty is broken and the seller won't do anything.
I just payed 350$ for the phone plus bought 3 cases an some cable.... I don't want to throw my money in the wind.
Any clue to help me??
Thanks

Unlocking the bootloader does not void the warranty as its a supported method from google as its considered a developers phone, hence where its easy and a toggle in the phone settings.
Try this guide to return to stock http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-5x/general/guides-how-to-guides-beginners-t3206930
scroll down to " 10. How To Flash The Factory Images (And Return To Stock)"
Failing that and the retailer will not return it with the bootloader the way it is, relock it, check it still doesn't work then return it.

i have same problem with you , the phone shut down itself , i did flash factory image 3 times , did you can boot to download mode ? mine doesn't

By download mode you mean fastboot mode?
If you can't get into this how were you able to flash stock and relock your bootloader?
I also suggest you start your own thread so you can get help dedicated for your problem and not get this one hijacked.

nexus 5x can go to download mode , they have 2 option , just press volume up with power

I tried that, fastboot and flash image, going to the stock recovery and factory reset... Nothing work. As soon as I try to boot, the phone freeze in a black screen after the google logo

Kinda sucks. It's my fourth nexus device and never had any problem before. I regret to have bought this phone on ebay now since it makes everything complicated for a return

i know , mine to can't return it to LG , i live in indonesia , LG refuse my 5X . did you try on download mode ?

you made it boot now ?

No, I contacted google and they say I did everything I could :/

If you can access TWRP recovery, go to advacned wipe and wipe everything off-reboot to recovery-fast boot devices-flash factory image.

The actual bootloader unlocking is done in bootloader mode with fastboot.
Try unlocking it in fastboot anyway and see what happens. If your rom is corrupt it might not stop you.
Try restoring the stock image and see what it does, if it fails try unlocking the bootloader, ignoring the oem unlock process.
Are you on stock recovery? Are you on a custom rom? If you are have you tried dirty flashing it?
Have you tried clearing cache and delvik cache?

I don't think stock images require you to unlock the bootloader anymore.

I checked again and it seems they were talking about OTA's. opps.
Then when I went to download the full image the other day they had changed it from a required warning to just a "if necessary" and I put it together wrong.

Really need help

So i have searched all over the internet and havent found ant help. My phone is in a bootloop and i can't get out of it, i have tried with Nexus root tool kit to factory reset but just bootloop have tried it twice. Also tried to install factory with TWRP but still bootloop. I have an unlocked bootloader, I also tried to lock it and start with a new factory image but didnät work either . So please help me if you can i'm willing to try anything can't afford a new phone right now.
BIG UPDATE
So now after some work with trying to fx this i have found the problem with it. It's that my phone dosen't install the files that i install with either adb or TWRP. I found this by putting pure nexus rom on the phone and installing it with TWRP and then remove it from the storage. That was when the storage on the phone said it was still zero even when i had choose to install a new rom on the phone. but it still bootloop with the google logo and the four dots that pulse and then reboots.
Another Update
So i tried with installing the pixel rom from the xda forum and it all went well and all with the insallation no errors what so ever but my boot animation changed to pixels but still continue to bootloop still don't know whats happening.
I'm not sure what state your device is in right now. Is the bootloader locked or unlocked? When you tried to lock it, don't try that again, did it lock or did it remain unlocked when you re-booted into the bootloader? Were you able to successfully flash the factory image?
I'd suggest you carefully read thru this and pay particular attention to how to flash a factory image, http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-5x/general/guides-how-to-guides-beginners-t3206930

Whell when i locked the bootloader it got locked but then when it bootlooped for one to two hours i opened it again and went to ask the pros at xda. I also read through the guide you linked me and did as said in the tutorial but my phone is still bootlooping right now.
Did you successfully manually flash each of the image files in the latest factory image? Bootloader, radio, system, boot, etc.

Interrupted flashing during "VolumeUp + Power" mode

I have updated my Nexus 5x to 7.1.1 beta and after a day it powered off and I got the infamous red led during charging. I was not able to turn the phone on even after leaving the charger on for some days. I thought it is bricked and left it alone connected to my computer.
However today, out of nowhere Google logo popped up. It was bootlooping, but I was able to enter bootloader and original recovery. I wanted to flash it from bootloader, but was unable, because it was still oem locked. And I was not able to oem unlock, because I did not do the required part in the Developer Tools menu. I tried to adb sideload OTA in the original recovery, but sideloading stopped after uploading ~48% every time.
So I opted for the "VolumeUp + Power" mode flashing. Phone was recognized and I started flashing the appropriate TOT file. However at 33% on phone and 28% on the PC, progress stopped. And after a minute or so phone turned off. Currently it has no signs of life at all. Have I completely bricked it now? Is there a way to recover from interrupted "VolumeUp + Power" flashing mode?
EDIT: at first I though maybe the battery died during flashing. But interruption was not abrupt. First the progress slowed down to halt. And then after some time phone turned off.
It seems not all is lost. Have a blinking red light again after leaving it connected to computer for a day. Back to square one, but at least it is alive.
Your motherboard is dead.
And it is not your fault, mine also died while using beta 7.1 and I sent it RMA. They replaced for a new one.
But in my case i had unlocked bootloader, I flashed back 7.0 and it gave no results, still bootloop that's why I sent
Thanks for the info.
After leaving my phone with a clamp on a power button throughout the night (so the red light would flash continuously), I got it booting into "VolumeUp + Power" mode and this time I have successfully flashed the same TOT file via LGUp software. It was still bootlooping after flashing. Now I was able to enter into bootloader and recovery and this time sideloading the same previous file actually works. However it still bootloops.
Anyway, I tried to RMA it and after giving my IMEI to the Google rep, they said that they could not find it in their system after checking US and UK store records. Also tried calling LG warranty, but they do not know of my IMEI either. I got this phone from Swappa, so I left wondering where did the original owner of this phone got it from. He claimed that he got it as a present...

out of curiosity, have you ever tried to flash custom recovery through the bootloader ? If you can, you might also wanna try to make a EFS backup, wipe all partition, then flash custom rom or near-stock rom like this one, just for the sake of testing.

I wanted to flash custom recovery but was unable to do so, because device is still OEM locked. And I am unable to unlock it, because I did not do the confirmation in the Developer Options before device started to bootloop. Is there a way to flash custom recovery without this step in Developer Options?

For now, no way that I can think of. You could try to oem unlock it until it work, just cross your finger I guess?
I have some progress here. Since I was able to sideload various OTA images, I started doing that one by one and seeing if some of them would not bootloop. And after flashing 7.0.0 (NRD91N) from here (https://developers.google.com/android/ota) phone booted successfully and now is working. Will report if I get any problems.

Mi Max Stuck On Mi Logo and Bootloop

Hi Guys. I have a problem with my Mi Max 32/3gb. After OTA update it stucks on bootloop while the boot loader was locked and unrooted. I tried every method found in c.Mi.com and xda websites. nothing helped me to overcome this problem. I could enter to fastboot and also EDL modes, I also opened the back cover to remove the battery and shorting the test points but no luck. In fastboot mode I got error because the bootloader was locked, while in EDL mode I could successfully flash the fastboot roms including Ch_Dev, Ch_sta, Glob_Dev, and Glob_sta, but after turning on the phone, it shows bootloop again and again. But on time accidentally my phone loaded on boot and came alive (I don't know how!!). this time I first signed in with my mi account and applied for unlocking bootloader, then factory rested the device to see if it boot-up again or not. unfortunately it again stucked on bootloop. After unlocking the bootloader, I tried recovery roms using mi PC suite beta (Chinese version) which got error says something like your bootloader is locked (but it is not), Also I tried loading recovery rom using TWRP which the procedure stucks at "package_extract_file took 00s" for about 60mins and nothing happen. the only differences between all of these methods is bootloop at MI logo, bootloop at Mi logo and android logo with three blinking dots, freeze at MI logo, and freeze at Mi logo and android logo with three blinking dots. Any Idea?

Thank you for your reply. Tried before but not helped.
I can flash fast boot rom successfully in Fastboot and edl modes using Mi flash tools beta and also Mi PC suit without any error, but the phone cannot boot and still freeze at mi logo and some time bootloop. Flashing recovery rom is not possible in recovery mode even using TWRP and Mi PC suit, freeze in the beginning of flashing. How can I check to see if all necessary files of fast boot rom were copies to memory? I thing some thing force memory to lock especially in recovery mode!!!!
Any idea?
Maybe you should unlock the bootloader?

i know, i just went back to miui9 from nitrogen oreo last week, my bootloader was unlocked too. but mine also couldn't boot past mi logo, so i tried everything like you did, the only thing worked for me was to re-unlock bootloader, flash fastboot rom, clear data in recovery, reboot.

Did factory reset rooted XT 1799-2, now phone only boots into recovery mode

Hi,
My previous post relates to this one. Due to that problem I got, I had to factory reset my device to get my camera working again. However, instead, my phone rebooted into TWRP and would not boot system normally. When I tried to go to factory mode via fastboot I ended up in endless bootloop. Back in TWRP I tried to restore my backed up ROM from before rooting, but nothing really changed. I am really desperate because I have not find any solutions for my model and I don't want to use other montana models stock ROMs as I suspect them not to be compatible. What shall I do?
Cheers

Ok I was able the Stock rom, but it is Chinese, not the global one wihout Gapps and lots of bloatware. Do you know if there is also a GLOBAL stock ROM I can get? Conversely, is there perhaps a custom ROM like Lineage OS or others that is compatible with this device? Cheers

Sorry this is the stock rom of montana_retcn, to install the playstore by the store that comes in it, and it has the English language.
The rom that you were supposed to be a shop rom of the store that you bought, mine came with one of this but unfortunately I do not know where it has to download ...

Turn off the device, boot into Fastboot Flash Mode using vol down + power, using volume keys scroll and select factory mode and device will turn on. the next time you boot up the device, it won't go into TWRP directly. I have faced this issue many times. Hope this helps.

Not in this case. What Factory Mode did was that it got stuck in loading loop playing the Moto logo endlessly for over 5 minutes. Anyway, the phone is now hard bricked so I am facing even larger issue )

I'm having the same problem with my wifes g5s.
I have found that from twrp>restart>bootloader (phone then enters bootloader) I can the immediately choose "start" to boot the phone.
But that is a hassle I'd prefer my wife not having to go through...

Flash stock ROM via fastboot problem will be solved..
As far as people who need play store can flash gapps via TWRP as a same method we use for custom ROMs.
P.S. i will not suggest to buy XT1799-2 because this SKU is purely made for Chinese Market, if you need any custom ROM go to Weibo.com/diyroms and post a request to build a custom ROM for this device.
And there are some custom ROMs available that you can search via baidu.com ( Chinese Search Engine).
I will try to find any ROM and post for you guys and also post. Request to build for XT1799-2.
