I am having issue with Viper One custom rom - Verizon HTC One (M7)

I have my Wife's old HTC One M7 which I have decided to root and install custom rom before moving my HTC One M7 sim card over to use the newly improved phone.
I have the phone S-Off, Rooted and TWRP recovery configured. On Verizon Network.
I have installed the custom rom from this post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2590358
It worked fine but when I start it enters the setup wizard. After selecting language it moves to "Phone Activation". This takes a really long time and them fails providing a phone number for customer service.
I expected my sim card to be recognized and get past this step. It worked on Stock ROM with my sim card.
Am I doing something wrong or is evil verizon blocking my efforts ?
SOLVED: I just pulled the sim and it asked if I wanted WiFi only, selected that and once the phone finished I put the sim back in and the phone worked. Should have thought of that sooner.

Which version of viperone are u running? Because the devs of m7 viperone have stated that in the newest version of the rom, they were not able to get data working for verizon users.

You are correct, I didn't notice that. Phone calls works so I never checked data, since I had Wifi I didn't notice it. That sucks.
So what roms currently work with Verizon. Is there a good thread or location to find them ?
Does an older version of Venom work ?
I would like to try a Marshmallow version but I tried one I found and couldn't even get it to load.
Thanks for point that out !

NUSENSE7 by @santod040 , BY FAR & WIDE THE BEST, AND IT'S MADE SPECIFICALLY for the Verizon model, and is far more stable and 100% rock solid and 100% full Sense 7, honestly its more stable than htcs own original m7 sense 6 rom. I won't run anything else. Trust me u won't regret it. And he's an amazing dev

Maybe I am not following you completely...but why would you try to take an OTA when you are unlocked and rooted?
Second, I don't believe there are any OTA updates for the Vzw One as of yet.
It looks like you attempted to install an update for the European/International HTC One.
Why you are trying to do so, I'm not sure.
But you don't wanna install that, even if you could...

Well, I assumed you had the Verizon HTC One, since you posted in the Vzw One forums.
If you have the International One, you may wanna post in the relevant forums.
Folks will be much more capable of helping you with roms/software intended for your model over there.
The OTA will not install while you are unlocked and running a Custom Recovery.
Try finding a rooted version of the latest OTA version for your device in your device's Development forums.
That would be the best, most appropriate way to update the stock software while staying rooted and unlocked.
Good luck! :good:

Thanks! I haven't yet.
I have gone back and forth about it quite a bit. (still thinking about it every day, lol)
Can't really give up or don't want to give up my Unlimited though.
Since someone was very kind and gave me a DNA a little while back, I may stick with it for now.
Still a vast improvement over the 'ol Thunderbolt, though I loved it too for quite some time.
There has been some talk of some very kind folks pitching in to help me get a One though.
So that way, I can keep my Unlimited and hopefully work on both the One and the DNA in the not too distant future.

This. AND NEVER TAKE AN UPDATE WHEN ROOTED AND HAVE CUSTOM RECOVERY. Lol every single time you boot into recovery it should flash this message as a reminder. Why would anyone take an OTA in all reality?

[Q] Unlocked Sprint update

Hello everyone!
I would greatly appreciate if someone could show the right way to get my phone fully functional;
SPRINT HTC ONE M8
GSM SIM UNLOCKED for use on GSM networks
S-OFF
Rooted
TWRP
HBOOT 3.18.0.0000
RADIO 1.08.20.0612_4
CID-11111111
software version: 2.16.654.4
android: 4.4.3.
Issue:
1. I can not install any OTA updates, and the notification keeps popping out.
2. Mobile data is just not working properly even though I did everything as said here;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-htc-one-m8/general/enabling-3g-umts-countries-t2847461
As I did my research, it was some kind of a major bug on this series of Sprint M8 phones with breakdowns in mobile data. However, since I can not get any updates, the problem perists.
I tried installing custom ROM's, but so far ARHD 22 didn't even boot and LiquidSmooth couldn't detect the SIM card at all.
I know there are quite a few tutorials and "how-to" threads explaining all you need to know about RUU, cusotm ROM's, etc. However if someone could tell me what exactly to do and in which order (return to stock, then update?) I would greatly appreciate it.
Many many thanks!

Easiest way to get it back to stock is just flash the Sprint H/K RUU. You can download it from HERE. Just run it and connect your phone when prompted and follow the instructions (I'd probably change your CID back to the Sprint one first to be on the safe side but as you're S-OFF it shouldn't be needed). You might also need HTC Sync Manager installed. If so, you can get it HERE
This process will wipe the phone completely so back up any data first but other than that you'll at least be back to stock and then troubleshoot any issues from there
Thanks
Many thanks to everyone.
Any chances of loosing the SIM UNLOCK when going back to stock completely?
Nope, that shouldn't be touched but as I've not had a SIM-locked device in years I can't say for certain

Why not 34? Lol Sprint is up to date on its software you could just update to the lollipop firmware, and I could pull some of the files I've got to see if I can help you get it running, I'm on Leedroid right now so the process should be the same for ARHD.

You can or you can go to the Sprint android development and flash the updated recovery since you are s-off and it'll permit you to flash lollipop roms without many issues but there is still the files that need to be modified for ARHD to work correctly like the boot.img and a few others.

Power+vol up for about 15 seconds then power+vol down to get into recovery. You cant flash it unless you swap out Sprint specific files otherwise you'll get what just happened or boot directly into boot loader.
Like I mentioned I can pull the files together and see if I can get it working for Sprint tonight when I get home but until then flash either fluent Rom or stock if you want lollipop or just flash bad boyz if you don't mind kitkat

For me, the biggest issue is the mobile data breakdowns... I know I read somewhere a while ago it was an issue with some Sprint M8 models. I would like to get everything working w/o problems since it is GSM unlocked, and via QPST I unlocked all the bands.

Maybe that could be the final solution to all the problems?

Help with my Default.XML

After flashing TWRP and Venom3.0 I started testing the various ROMs. Of course I was on a very small 8GB Micro after my SanDisk 64GB went corrupt (3years and a few washing machine and drier cycles) and made a newb move. Didn't think to save a backup pre/post unlock to the internal and just copy it onto my PC.
It wasn't until the next day that I realized I wasn't receiving calls. The phone would ring on the callers end but my phone would stay unaffected unless a vm was sent. I searched in the m9 and then overall xda for a solution to no avail. Once I used Gsearch with more vague terms I was only able to find one thread from a few years back when voice over LTE must have been kinda new.
Someone had the exact same problem, described my situation exactly and the fix proposed worked for the guy.
It was to modify the default.XML in system/customize/ACC
I switched all the "voLTExxx" values to "true" as they were all "false" and now callers are directed straight to vm. Im still completely unaffected in my phone abilities so I know I was close. All this is after I switched the the ATT dev edition ROM found here on XDA in one of the M9 stickeys.
Im thinking maybe someone with the same setup could upload their XML file that is working so I can check if it was that? Maybe that won't work but you know what will? Thanks guys.
Im seeing someone else posted just a few minutes ago and turning off LTE works. That is not a solution in my opinion and was the failsafe on the original post I read.

The dev edition (617) ruu won't fix the issue. As far as voLte is concerned, it's basically the same as running a custom rom in that you can still be affected by the issue and you can't disable Ehanced (or HD) Voice in the rom (this is tied to your sim and not the rom, I think).
Currently, this is the best solution, I think...flash an att RUU (502 - either 1.32 or 2.6, it doesn't really matter) . Then go into Mobile network settings, and disable Enhanced Voice. Once this is disabled in stock ATT rom, you can flash a custom rom and that setting should stick.
Alternatively, you might try getting on with ATT support to see if they can disable that setting on their end.
Okay. Maybe post this to the thread from 8hrs ago because some of them are having the same issue. Ill get back when I try that, I am on 1.32 currently.
Quick questions before I proceed.

it didn't have anything to do with unlocking. You have voLte enabled for your att account and you're in an area that supports voLte, but you're running a rom that doesn't.
This is just my current theory. We'll see if it works for you.
I don't know what it will take for a custom rom to support voLte.
I didn't include a link because I thought it would be easy enough to find, but I guess most people here complain if they're not spoon fed.
Um...credit the source of the info or just link to my post. Don't just copy and paste as your own.

Edit: oh, and forget the default.xml file. It's probably fine as is. I assume you got that from my post from a couple of months ago. I don't think that was the problem.

I'm stuck at the RUU actually, I have AV off and the install shield wizard loads up, flashed a few windows then shuts down. Sync is still installed, I've restarted my PC, ran as admin.
Do you know if HTC released that as a flashable .zip? I hate doing anything to my phone through my PC because it creates another variable to go wrong.

Wowwwwww was that an adventure.
Re-downloaded the ATT RUU and updating (bad download first time)
Disabled "HD Voice" under the mobile settings (easiest part of the whole show)
re-flashed TWRP (Ran into a million windows problems, had to perform clean windows install)
Flashed the same custom ROM I had before
Calls came through, everything working great.

HTC One M9 abort the update to android 7

Hi, my name is Lenard, and my problem is the followed:
A few months ago i rooted my M9 with HTC Dev, installing a custom recovery, I used also the Xposed framework, but nothing else more.
After a day i noticed that Snapchat doesn't work. So i prefer to took that step back because i use it ...
I took the ruu 3.35.161.12 for my phone with a branding. Put it on the SD card and do all how it should be. Bootloader relocked, stock firmware. It works, but the update to android 7 comes yesterday ... and i download it. My phone restarts and install it. But on 25 % the phone says "Nope", the red triangle and an exclamation mark comes.
Can someone help me ?
Sorry my English is not the pretty best !
Thanks in Advance !

Likely not cancelled. TMobile is working on it, and probably other carriers.,

Yes i know, but i think that the problem is not the update software, i think the problem is my M9. I serach for a way to install the stock ROM with android 7 and use snapchat.

Now downloading:
http://www.androidpolice.com/2017/03/21/t-mobile-variant-htc-one-m9-starts-receiving-nougat/
Other carriers will take their sweet time, but this is the beginning in the U.S. Is already out in Europe and some other parts of the world.

The Update is always there, but the install process canceled until 25%. But there was something very strange...
A friend has also a M9, and i ask him if he could do the update on his phone to check if it works. He did not do anything with his M9, not rooted, and not set S-off. Nothing. And the Update fails too. So... The problem can be the update, not my M9...

HTC One M8s Flash and boot issues.

Hey there just wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction with this.
I've found the right TWRP for the phone and got that installed fine along with unlocked boot-loader, How ever I've tried several Rom's with full clean resets and I'm still getting boot hang.
The Rom's I've tried are,
Android_Revolution_HD-One_M8_45.0_758ff1 ( This flashed fine but then got the phone stuck in a constant boot loop )
And the, One_M8_4.16.401.10_stock_system_dump, ( This flashed fine also and during flash said it can take a while on first boot, My phones been on the green HTC logo now for over 45 mins without it doing anything else.)
So I'm at a bit off a loss, the phones not bricked at all and I can still get into fast boot and recovery fine so just wanted to get it back up and running.
Any help would be massively appreciated.
Thanks.
M8 and M8s are different phones. ROMs intended for the M8 will not work for the M8s.
There really isn't much custom ROM development for the "s". Lineage posted here in the M8s section, may be your only bet for a custom ROM.

I was told lineageos wouldn't work with it either
I will have a look though and see if I can sort it, I'm ready to throw it out off the window lol.

Not sure, but I think that what ckpv5 meant by the following, is that any ROMs intended for the M8 (including Lineage for the M8) will not work on your M8s:

Using the TWRP specifically for the M8s, and the LineageOS specifically for the M8s, should work.
