Hello all,
LG Optimus G Pro user here (LG-F240S). I recently rooted my phone, then used Gomdol's tool, which roots the phone and installs CWM recovery at the same time. I had initially thought that the application also unlocks the bootloader, but since then found out it doesn't.
Anyways, the first time rebooted into recovery, I flashed a ROM (specifically for F240S), which wasn't successful for some reason. Now, when I boot up the phone, it keeps saying "Secure Booting Error! Cause: boot certification verify"
I have tried everything, from the Volume down + Power + Home to erase everything and do the factory reset, but it doesn't work. I have also downloaded the stock firmware, and tried the KDZ_FW_UPD application to flash the stock firmware, which also did not work (Extract File Error). My last resort was using LGMobile Support Tool, but it keeps telling me to recharge my battery (my batter is currently recharged to 100%, and the USB is plugged in, so something is very wrong here).
I would really appreciate any help, It's been 3 days now without being able to use my phone and it sucks
Thanks!
J
Might wanna try this

on your boot certification problem, I had that same problem before and made me panic for two days. I tried LG mobile support tool and worked for the first time. few weeks ago, I also encountered the same error on LG Mobile support tool (battery error, right?) I used I also used the KDZ_FW_UPD application and yes, extract error. but you know what the magical thing is? I found the G2 KDZ flasher from the G2 thread..
even if this was from G2 thread, it worked for my device.
here is the link and of course thanks to @hyelton for bringing this wonderful fix. now, I don't have to worry about bricking my phone again(except for hard bricking, of course).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2432476
one more thing: make sure you download the KDZ. there is a thread here that links to that. but I think you have the right kdz now so just follow the steps. make sure you are in download mode press volume up and down (only the volume up and down. not the home or power) and then plug the cord.
guys, this happens when installing custom rom with lg stock rom in it and your device is not fully unlock. to lessen the hassle of worrying trying to reflash to the stock rom and downloading those huge files..just download any custom pure android rom , slimkat, cm11, etc then flash to your recovery..it would boot again without that error on boot certification. only that your on pure android rom but that's ok

How do i flash the rom when i cant get into recovery? I have the same issue om my rooted g pad whit stockrom. I want to flash cyagenmod.
HELP PLEASE! My Lg G Pro e988 stays forever on this "Secure booting error! Cause: boot certification verify! Can't get in download mode. I have tryed all sort of combination keys but everytime this error pops up. My phone was on stock rom, then an official update started to download and ask me to reboot. After reboot this error!
HELP!
You should be able to get in download mode by following these steps. First take out the battery for atleast 5seconds, put it back in, then press and hold both vol + and vol - and within 2seconds plug in the usb cable, your computer should make the sound of a new device connected, when you hear that let go of the volume keys. The screen should say download mode now.

I have sent it to warranty and they told me that the phone was rooted, they sent me a picture with the back of the phone showing the imei and serial number and a front picture showing me that the phone has the app SuperSu.
They told me that the phone need a new motherboard that cost ~340 $.
Why do they need a new motherboard ? because the phone was not hard bricked.
I will get my device back.
Is possible to get it back with some modifications? I mean if they managed to boot it and see the SuperSu app.
I know to work with LG Flash Tool, so all I need is to put it to download mode.
All the above key combination didn't work. Power and vol- or power and vol+ ......
I will contact you again when i'll have my device.
Thanks!

Any updates?
Long story with guys at warranty. I asked them to prove that the phone in those pictures is mine. From the picture showing my imei, yes is mine. But from the picture showing supersu app....they don't convince me. Every phone could have installed supersu app without being rooted. So i asked them to provide me another picture that will show the google account that was registered on phone and another with all my apps installed. They didn't send me such photos.
If they managed to revive my device and showing me there is a supersu app, that means they don't need to change the motherboard.
Am i right?
So i get my phone back working and they cut my warranty.
I tried vol+ and vol- and usb cable and download mode appeared.
Thankd!

I smell something weird about LG. They probably put SuperSU on there or they got the wrong phone. Anyway i'm sure the community will help Don't lose faith/hope yet
About the warranty, its very complicated.
The store from which the phone was buyed, took it and send it to another warranty dealer authorized by LG, i guess, which was not named LG.
At last, I sold the phone, i own an lg g2 now and recently flash official lollipop.
Gladly and after some fails and always getting the secure boot certification error, i managed to access the download mode and with LG Flash Tool installed the stock .kdz on my LG L90 D405n.. thx for all the hints..
Before of this secure boot my e988 was working but no download mode. I've encountered this on a LG G2, so after some search i've found out that I must downgrade the bootloader. So, I rooted my device and installed autorec.apk from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2715496 that fixes the " no download mode " .
I don't know how to skip the secure boot error. If someone managed please share with us!
Boot : Error Certification Verify
Hi. I am new to this thread although i had used this thread many times with issues i have had. There is this one issue im having that i can't seem to figure out which im usually good at doing by following forums or threads.
A couple weeks ago i had rooted my LG G Pad 7.0 V410 LTE tablet from AT&T. I had TWRP downloaded into it and i had flashed Candy5 it worked perfectly i just didn't like how it looked so i tryed to flash it back to original stock OS. But now when i boot my tablet up it goes to the LG screen and at the top left it says Boot : Error Certification Error. This has me dumbfounded on what i should do. when i connect the tablet to the computer nothing pops up no tablet connects to the computer. I tryed downloading the drivers and everything but nothing seemed to work. I need help with this issue please!!
I didn't know where else to post this issue due to being new!!!
followed a tutorial (Cnncted's youtube clip - How to root the ASUS ZenFone 2 ) to root
Accidentally (very stupid) pressed the update option when an OTA update showed up yesterday (Jul 8 2015), and after that the phone won't start properly - stopped at in search of incredible...
No luck with trying to boot into recovery mode (power + volume up). It just vibrates once and the screen is black. Trying to flash recovery image with ADB and flashtool etc, but the MTP usb connection failed. If I connect it to the PC using the USB cable and then press the power button to turn it on (stuck in that ..."incredible" screen), device manager shows the Z200AD name with a yellow exclamation mark beside, and Asus ZenUI software will automatically start. But it's not really recognized by the PC.
So...if you have any suggestions for me to try, please let me know and that would be greatly appreciated!
Harry
p.s. This is a US version, so the it's the WW sku?
Same problem here. I have a rooted 551ML and on July 6th I received an OTA update. I installed it and I'm stuck in boot loop. I have hundreds of family pictures in the internal memory.
The good news is that I have access to boot loader and recovery.
I could not find any custom recovery for Zenfone 2. They are not out yet, right? Is there any way to copy the internal memory of the phone (that doesnt load the OS) to the SD card? Or to paste a file img.boot taken from a downloaded official rom and copy it over the corrupted one on the phone's memory?
If you can access the bootloader, you can do this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone2/general/guide-to-apply-ota-bootloop-rooted-zf2-t3127835
Btw, there is a custom recovery out there (TWRP, check the Development section), but you will need an unlocked bootloader to use it in your state (I think).
US version is the WW SKU btw. Hope this helps.

Joel, thanks a lot! I will give it a try.
fingers and toes crossed...
I faced this problem too. All I did was to flash the boot.img of my version using fastboot,
Then I flashed the firmware, without factory reset I started the phone.
I was continiously getting an error "com.android.process has stopped". Ignoring that, I just backed up my whole data. Did a factory reset. Updated
Boom!! Everything was normal... I hope this helps
Just a quick update - followed the method in the link that Joel referred to, and everything worked beautifully. I did get two error messages like “the contact stopped working..." “The process android.process.acore has stopped working.” I fixed this problem by clearing the data/cache from the "contact" app, and that did the trick without a factory reset etc.
I unrooted the device using SuperSU. The fastboot screen, however, still shows a random serial number 0123456789ABCDEF. Is there a way to revert it back to the real one? I do see the real one from settings - about - status.

Isn't everyone serial number the same? mine is.
This is something that I am not sure of. Yours has been rooted as well?
I would like to know what the fastboot screen looks like before rooting.

Pretty sure rooting didn't affect my fastboot screen at all.
actually i rooted my zenfone 2 and there was an OTA and i tried to install it without un-rooting my phone. the phone would not turn on and it gets stuck in the boot animation.
the phone wasn't detected by the ADB in my pc so i thought of installing some custom recovery, thought that could help.
i tried installing TWRP but i did not unlock the bootloader and now i am not able to enter in recovery mode either, everytime i try to get in the recovery modethe phone restarts and goes to fastboot mode.
please help.

I was having a similar issue where adb wouldn't recognize my phone but fastboot was detecting it. What I ended up doing was grabbing the latest stock firmware zip from asus, transferring it to my external sd card via adapter and renamed it to MOFD_SDUPDATE.zip. Then go into fastboot (restart with volume up key) and proceed to recovery. It should automatically update your system from there. The only bummer is having to re-configure everything.

Hey all
First of all, this is the first time that I'm trying to root a phone, and it didn't go well.
I have an LG G4 with Marshmallow installed on it. Found out that I needed to do, and it didn't look too hard to me, so I tried it.
I managed to unlock my phone's bootloader, and get TWRP onto it. (Which apparently was needed in order to get root access on 6.0)
I flashed the system image. Got a confirmation that everything went well, so I restarted (via the TWRP menu).
And now, my phone is stuck in the booting process. (displays the logo + "Bootloader unlocked" in the left upper corner.)
I tried a factory reset via the system recovery, didn't change anything.
Since I voided my warranty, is there a way to fix this myself? (I haven't found anything that helps me so far)

why did you flash system image.? rootedsystem.img are used on locked bootloader..
if you unlocked bootloader and installed twrp. all you had to do was flash superus in zip format or a custom kernel.
does download mode works? turn off phone pres vol up connect usb cable.??
if so then flash stock firmware. with LG UP. you need to flash the same android version you are on.. theres antiroll back security on some phone and if you use lower android it hard bricks phne . so if you download KDZ make sure its the same you have..
What model phone (H815, H811, H812, etc) do you have and what did you flash?
Can you boot to the bootloader?
I cant get to download mode/bootloader
It's a H815
So i have searched all over the internet and havent found ant help. My phone is in a bootloop and i can't get out of it, i have tried with Nexus root tool kit to factory reset but just bootloop have tried it twice. Also tried to install factory with TWRP but still bootloop. I have an unlocked bootloader, I also tried to lock it and start with a new factory image but didnät work either . So please help me if you can i'm willing to try anything can't afford a new phone right now.
BIG UPDATE
So now after some work with trying to fx this i have found the problem with it. It's that my phone dosen't install the files that i install with either adb or TWRP. I found this by putting pure nexus rom on the phone and installing it with TWRP and then remove it from the storage. That was when the storage on the phone said it was still zero even when i had choose to install a new rom on the phone. but it still bootloop with the google logo and the four dots that pulse and then reboots.
Another Update
So i tried with installing the pixel rom from the xda forum and it all went well and all with the insallation no errors what so ever but my boot animation changed to pixels but still continue to bootloop still don't know whats happening.
I'm not sure what state your device is in right now. Is the bootloader locked or unlocked? When you tried to lock it, don't try that again, did it lock or did it remain unlocked when you re-booted into the bootloader? Were you able to successfully flash the factory image?
I'd suggest you carefully read thru this and pay particular attention to how to flash a factory image, http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-5x/general/guides-how-to-guides-beginners-t3206930

Whell when i locked the bootloader it got locked but then when it bootlooped for one to two hours i opened it again and went to ask the pros at xda. I also read through the guide you linked me and did as said in the tutorial but my phone is still bootlooping right now.
Did you successfully manually flash each of the image files in the latest factory image? Bootloader, radio, system, boot, etc.

Rooted my Honor 7x (Bnd-L21) recently, and I wanted to ues snapchat which wasn't working, due to my root status. So, I decided to try MAGISK, when I tried to unroot I stupidly went to TWRP Recovery and factory reset rather than going the safe route and un-rooting through SUPERSU. Now, when I tried boot up my phone it goes straight to the EMUI eRecovery, and also when I plug my phone into a computer to re-install the stock ROM, it doesn't show up like it was previously when I tried rooting it. Also, sometimes another page shows which is the bootloader with ERROR CODE showing above it. Would appreciate any help on this.
