Review from me too
Hey everyone,
I bought my own Leagoo Alfa 2 too, in golden color. A few things and thoughts which you should know before buying:
Pro
- backplate Ion Touch Technology: you can turn it off at all, if it disturbs you, but its worth using it to shoot photos (selfies mainly). However, when using the phone for general stuff, it can be quite disturbing. Waking with double tap on it work crappy, it doesnt recognize double tap many times. I like the function however.
- front side LED flash: its not very strong, but it certainly helps a lot when you have low lights around.
- Leagoo Xender app: you can connect the phone with a PC, Mac, or WP in less than a minute. I dont even understand, why this app is not part of the marketing, it's one of the best apps, I've ever senn. You get a complete file manager through your browser on PC. I dont use cables since I found this app.
- Leagoo OS 1.1: based on Android 5.1 its quite fast until you download all your favourite apps, and pack a lot of things on the phone. Then it can start thinking quite a lot at more hardware demanding operations. For example, when you have more apps running in the background, and you press home button, first you see no app icons, then it starts loading them on the screen one by one. This takes about 2 seconds at most, but still. Otherwise the OS is quite nice, I like it.
- Nice screen, sensitivity and colors.
- No SIM-plate, so you can use 2 microSIM cards and a microSD card at the same time.
- 16GB ROM.
- its cheap
Contra:
- weak battery: screen on time is only a few hours at most.
- very bad camera quality on both sides. However there is a flash on the front side to make selfies, the cameras shoot quite low quality photos.
- Weak hardware, high consumption compared to this.
- Backplate feels crappy and weak.
Conclusion: I'd still recommend the phone, if you need a front side flash, or dont want to buy a more expensive one, or if you like new things like Ion Touch Technology, and the Xender app. Some photos of my stuff:
You can reach the whole album here. And a few previews here:
Good job man

Review
Introduction
Low-End smartphones are nowadays common in the Chinese market, but LEAGOO with the Alfa 2 managed to create a nice compromise by adding some features that almost all other low-end smartphones are missing.
This is the LEAGOO Alfa 2.
Hardware
The device features a low-end SOC, MT6580, that is just enough for basic tasks and for ultra-light gaming. Also the RAM isn’t high, just 1 GB, reducing multitasking efficiency. But, there is also something that can’t be considered as low-end. Rear Camera is a Sony IMX219 (13mpx), Soft-Touch keys are retroilluminated and there is a nice TouchPad on the back. Maybe we shouldn’t consider it a real low-end device, should we? Follow my next paragraphs to know more.
Unboxing
Packaging comes with some accessories: 1x Screen Protector (Plastic) with Wipes, 1x SIM/MicroSD tray Eject Tool, 1x Headset (not in-ear, but still better than nothing), 1x Micro-USB Cable, 1x 5V/1.5A USB Charger, 1x Quick Start Guide, 1x Warranty Certificate and the Smartphone (of course).
LEAGOO choose to give to the device a nice and clean design, similar to devices with Metal chassis, but this is made of Plastic. It feels pretty solid though, even better than my Galaxy S4.
The Alfa 2 is 14.4x7.3x0.7cm and weights 149 g. A compact device that can be handled easily in your hands.
On the front side there is the 2.5D Curved Display. On 5 inches smartphones this feature is now becoming pretty common. The glass is enclosed in a Plastic Frame, while on the upper front side of the device features a Front-Facing Camera supported by a Flashlight, an Earpiece and the Sensors hole that includes Light, Proximity and Gesture Sensors.
The lower front side of the device there are the Soft-Keys Navigation Buttons (retroilluminated), and the Home Button (circle key) works as a Notification LED. Sincerely i love this feature, I hope that also other smartphones from LEAGOO will have it.
On the back side, there is the Plastic back cover. The upper rear side of the device features a slightly protunding Camera supported by a dual-tone flashlight, and a particular TouchPad used to interact with the UI.
The lower rear side of the device features a noticeable Brand Logo and a large Speaker hole.
Chassis is Slim and well-built with all keys on the right side. There is no key rattling here.
Device
Screen
The device has an IPS Screen made by Himax, and it seems to be pretty good. Screen Brightness is decent, good enough to be used under direct sunlight.
I have used my Galaxy S4 Light Sensor to measure its maximum brightness. I don’t have a professional Lumen Meter, so this (Lux) is the only value that I can provide you.
About Viewing Angles the screen behaves pretty well, one of the best screen I have ever tested as regards this area.
Image Contrast and Saturation are accurate, you can use the MiraVision menu to customize this values.
Camera
Back Camera (Sony IMX219) seems to work pretty good, but, just like almost all Chinese Smartphones, the noise level is a bit high. As I always say, if a company works a bit on the Camera Software this issue can be easily fixed.
With (left) & Without HDR (right), photos under direct sunlight aren’t pretty bad.
Flashlight works pretty well on both sides. Yes, this device has also a front flashlight.
Back Camera
Front Camera
About Videos, there is no Optical Stabilization here. Maximum Supported Resolution is 1080p (named as Video Quality – Fine). Even if it reaches 1080p, quality isn’t good, the software needs to be optimized a lot.
Audio
Speaker isn’t extremely loud, lacks low-frequencies but there are no issues with Sound Clarity.
Unfortunately, it is positioned on the back, and, as I have already said for many other devices, if you place the device on a table you could experience volume issues, but this doesn’t mean that it is a bad thing. As always, what matters here is the quality.
Nothing negative to say about the in-call/telephony quality.
Telephony, Mobile Network & WiFi
Being a low-end device, there is no 4G support. 3G Signal Reception is accurate though, with no issues at all with Mobile Data speed or Signal Stability.
Built-in Wi-Fi supports 2.4GHz networks, and using my Home internet connection I managed to get decent speed. (I have a 100/20 VDSL connection, WiFi gets connected to 135mbps – probably not real -)
Battery Life
Battery seems to be enough to get at least one day of medium-usage, unfortunately PCMark crashes after a long while (probably due to low RAM).
This is the GeekBench Battery Benchmark result: https://browser.primatelabs.com/battery3/298994
Anyway, built-in Battery Real Capacity seems to be a bit lower than declared value (2600mAh vs 2313mAh).
Software
Almost everything has been customized. LEAGOO OS, based on Android 5.1, seems to have some nice features that help users to enjoy Android even better. (just like Xiaomi does with its MIUI ROM). I’ll show you some customized parts of the system with some screenshots.
Just like other last-gen Mediatek Devices, there are some typical features such as Gestures, Scheduled Power On/Off, etc…
The UI is always responsive, but there is a serious software issue. Screen Refresh rate has been set to 43hz, so the device doesn’t fell smooth at all. I have already asked LEAGOO to fix this bug, because using the device with this Refresh Rate causes headaches. It is like slow motion.
As regards the Rear TouchPad management (called Ion Smart Touch), it can be configured via the Settings apps and its configuration is extremely user-friendly.
Even LED Notification Light can be configured easily. You can even disable the Hall Sensor if you are using a Flip Cover.
Benchmarks
I have used 3DMark, Antutu Benchmark, Epic Citadel, GeekBench 3, GFXBench, AndroBench and PCMark (Work) to stress the device to the limit. I won’t test Games or Video Playback because there are already some related tests included in these Benchmark suites. I won’t be able to show you Vellamo benchmarks because this device isn’t able to handle it. (low RAM issues, it keeps crashing after some minutes)
3DMark – GPU Performance isn’t too bad, but you have to consider that there is no OpenGL 3.0 support here so only OpenGL 2.0 tests can be executed.
AndroBench – eMMC Performance is much better that expected, pretty good considering the low-end SOC.
Antutu Benchmark – I won’t say a lot about this benchmarks, this isn’t as reliable as others. I’m providing this just for benchmarks lovers.
Epic Citadel – As you can see, Gaming performance isn’t extremely low, there is enough power to handle games without major issues, you just won’t get ultra-high framerates. Consider also that there is the screen refresh rate bug that limits FPSs to 43 maximum.
GeekBench – CPU Performance is as good as other CPUs with the same configuration (4x Cortex-A7).
GFXBench – GFXBench result is….ultra-low. You have to forget heavy games on this device.
PCMark – Except for Video Playback Score, it isn’t pretty bad.
Summaring all results, I would have expected lower performance but I was wrong. Device’s performance is good enough for basic tasks, and it can be used also for some light gaming without having to deal with major issues.
Conclusions
This is my first time that I have to express an opinion about a low-end device. LEAGOO managed to add some mid-range features on a cheap device, something pretty rare to find nowadays.
I can recommend it if you want a cheap, but complete, device for basic usage.
Pros:
Sharp and Bright screen
Thin bezels
Decent Sound Quality
Lightweight
Cheap
Cons:
Declared battery capacity doesn't match real capacity
Serious Software bug regarding Screen Refresh Rate
It doesn’t come with Android 6.0
Camera Software needs huge improvements

Very informative review Alberto96. Have you had a chance to hear if Leagoo fixed the screen refresh rate? Latest firmware is from July 15 but as usual there's no information on what has been fixed. Would also like to hear how you experienced the RAM issues, say if all a user will do is take photos, calls, text and really not much else the RAM will be fine? Thanks for feedback.

Unfortunately no, it seems that it has been abandoned leaving more space to new devices such as the T1.
RAM Issues are here while running benchmarks or using heavy websites with Chrome. Normal usage doesn't seem to be affected too much.

Ok, yes I've been wondering why it never seemed to really get off the ground. Thanks.

Introduction
Just like most Chinese brands, also CUBOT entered the market of the so-called “Battery Smartphones” starting from the CUBOT H1. The CUBOT H2 is entirely based on its previous model, but with an upgraded CPU, increased RAM and a Better Chassis and some other minor differences. Somehow they have removed the IR Trasmitter but this is something that, in my opinion, almost no one uses nowadays with the diffusion of Smart TVs & Home Appliances.
This is the CUBOT H2 Smartphone

Hardware
The CUBOT H2 Smartphone features a mid-range SOC, MT6735A, that is able to handle every daily task without major issues. It is supported by a plenty amount of RAM, 3 GBs, improving multitasking and device’s reactivity while running heavy apps. Also, just like the latest Xiaomi MI5, it features a screen supported by an ultra-bright 16-LED backlighting, but its resolution is just HD (1280x720), the maximum officially supported by this SOC. Battery Capacity is just a bit lower than the CUBOT H1, 5000mAh instead of 5200mAh, but it doesn’t mean that battery life has been impacted. Follow my next paragraphs to know more.
Unboxing
Packaging comes with many accessories: 1x Screen Protector (Tempered Glass) with Wipes, 1x SIM/MicroSD tray Eject Tool, 1x OTG Cable, 1x Micro-USB Cable (really nice quality), 1x 5V/2A USB Charger, 1x Quick Start Guide and the Smartphone (of course). No Headset included.
CUBOT has focused its attention on the design, the device feels extremely solid (much better than my Galaxy S4) thanks to the Zinc Titanium chassis, there is no Keys Rattling at all and it is Slim enough considering that there is a 5000mAh Battery inside. Sincerely, this is the best-built Smartphone I have ever tried. Well Done CUBOT!
It is just 15.0x76.5x0.9cm, compact enough and it weights 232 g, not so lightweight but with a Metal Chassis and an Huge Battery inside you can’t expect something lighter.
On the front side there is the 2.5D Curved Display, that makes the usage of the device much more ergonomic. The Glass is enclosed in a Metal Frame, which increases the device’s toughness.
The upper front side of the device features a Front-Facing Camera, an Earpiece, a Notification LED and the Sensors hole that includes Light, Proximity and Gesture Sensors.
Just like many other devices, also this LED is an RGB variant, so it supports multiple colors and you can customize them via the Settings app. It is used as for Notifications and Charging status.
The lower front side of the device there are the Soft-Keys Navigation Buttons (not retroilluminated), and an almost hidden Microphone Hole. A nice idea to keep the whole design the most clean possible.
On the back side there is a Curved Plastic Cover, with a nice texture that makes the whole device feel Premium. This cover isn’t hard to remove, making any future battery replacement much more easier that devices with Glass/Metal back cover.
The upper rear side of the device features a protunding Camera supported by a Dual-Flash (Single Tone) configuration.
The lower rear side of the device features a noticeable Brand Logo, some little words about the Device and a big Speaker hole.
As you can see, CUBOT take care of many details, especially regards the Metal Chassis. It is absolutely perfect, without any little defect. Thanks to the CNC treatment, the whole chassis is made to be the most comfortable possible. I’m really impressed, I hope that CUBOT won’t abandon this extreme attention to the details.
Unlike some other Chinese Smartphones, the SIM Card/Micro-SD tray has been well designed to allow the usage of a Micro-SIM and a Micro-SD without having to replace your SIM with a Nano variant. So you can use a Micro-SIM and a Micro-SD in the same time.
Device
Screen
CUBOT choose to include an innovative IPS screen on this device, I still need to find the brand and the model, but they declare that it has an ultra-bright 16-LED backlighting, just like the Xiaomi MI5 then, and I must admit that under direct sunlight I was still able to see the screen without any issue at all.
Under normal usage, the screen is almost everytime bright, even if brightness is set to low-medium. It’s a pity that its resolution is just HD, but Quality is just awesome, you won’t be able to see any pixel at all, it is really sharp and white reproduction is perfect. Comparing the screen with my Galaxy S4, you can see that CUBOT H2 screen looks much better as regards white reliability.
I have used my Galaxy S4 Light Sensor to measure CUBOT H2 maximum brightness. I don’t have a professional Lumen Meter, so this (Lux) is the only value that I can provide you.
About Viewing Angles, the screen doesn’t suffer any kind of issue, it behaves perfect in every single condition.
As you can see, Image Contrast is accurate while Saturation is a bit too high, so Colors look pretty vibrant, similar to Super AMOLED Screens. This is something pretty personal, so I won’t express my opinion about.
Camera
Back Camera performs pretty well, even if I’m not sure that the resolution is interpolated to 13mpx or not, but, just like almost all Chinese Smartphones, the noise level is a bit high. If CUBOT works a bit more on the Camera software, I’m pretty sure that Photos Quality will be improved.
There are no major issues with low-light photos, HDR makes Photos just a bit brighter.
Under medium sunlight Photos looks pretty good, detailed and with Vibrant colors.
Thanks to the Dual Flash configuration, low-light photos gets improved pretty well. As you can see, my cat looks much detailed here. Even without Flash, quality isn’t too bad.
Auto-Focus speed is decent, nothing extremely fast (no PDAF here), but neither extremely slow. It is as fast as on my Galaxy S4. Under low-light conditions it tends to be a bit slow, but I think this is software-related so it can be improved a lot in the future.
About Videos, there is no Optical Stabilization here, but Software Stabilization (if enabled) does its job (but producing that famous fisheye effect), and there are no major issues here too. Maximum Supported Resolution is 1080p (named as Video Quality – Fine). I can say that this is enough for standard medium quality videos, do not expect ultra-high quality.
Front-Facing Camera is much better than what I thought, Brand and Model are unknown yet though. Again, I don’t know if resolution is interpolated to 8mpx or not, but Photos are pretty good. Here you can find a comparision between front (left) & back (right) camera.
Maximum Supported Video Resolution is 720p, and Quality is just fine as you would expect from a Front-Facing camera.
Audio
Speaker’s Sound lacks a bit of Bass, but it is loud and with a nice clarity.
I have measured its loudness using my Galaxy S4 Microphone, here you’ll see its maximum power.
Unfortunately, it is positioned on the back, so if you place the device on a table you could experience volume issues, but this doesn’t mean that it is a bad thing. What matters here is the quality.
Also in-call, it is pretty loud, sound tends to get distorted a bit at maximum volume, but this device doesn’t support VoLTE (Voice Over LTE) so Call Quality is just the standard AMR-WB (16000 Hz) on 3G Network.
Earpiece is absolutely perfect, its sound is much better than my Galaxy S4, it isn’t extremely loud it produces a clean and high-clarity sound. Probably the device i have ever tested as regards in-call quality.
Device’s microphone is perfect too, I have tested it with many calls, and every single person I have called said me that he/she was able to hear me perfectly, better than how my Voice was recorded using my Galaxy S4.
Summarizing these results, I can say that the Audio Sector has been accurately developed by CUBOT.
Telephony and Mobile Network
Thanks to the 4G Band 20 support (some other Chinese Smartphones don’t have it), I’m almost always and everywhere connected to the 4G Network of my Mobile Network Provider (TIM Italy).
Also 3G Signal Reception is accurate, actually I never managed to get connected to the 2G Network of my Mobile Operator because there was always some 3G Signal available. A good quality Antenna has been used.
4G Network Speed is decent, it highly depends on your Mobile Operator and mine isn’t pretty good. While 3G Network Speed, is just fine. (MT6735 supports maximum 21.1mbps)
Battery Life
When you’ll first charge your device, you’ll find more or less 50% of Charge, I recommend you to charge the device completely before you start to use it. That’s to improve battery calibration accuracy.
Battery Life is just awesome, I managed to reach more than 9 hours of Screen-On Time, with Wi-Fi, 4G, Location & Sync ON. I have also turned on screen-off gestures (double-tap to wake), and during the night I have lost more or less 15% of battery so I don’t recommend to enable them if you are interested in improving battery life.
My second full-charge wasn’t pretty accurate, I have charged the device measuring current with a USB Tester and it recorded just ~4750mAh instead of the 5000mAh declared. I’ll measure this value again after more charging cycles and update this review. I know, declared value is always higher than real value, but nearly 300mAh of Battery Capacity is missing here.
For Daily Usage, even if stressed a lot, this device won’t have any issue regarding battery life, it will be able to reach the end of the day even with some residual charge left.
Also, this device support 5V/2A Quick Charge, so you won’t have to worry about charging time. I can confirm that this is working because the USB Tester measured more or less 2A of charging current.
Software
Even if this is a new device, CUBOT choose to use Android 5.1 release instead of latest Android 6.0 for some unknown reason. Anyway, all seems to work fine. They customized some parts of the software such as Lockscreen, Notification Bar, Launcher and Phone/Contacts app.
Lockscreen reminds the old Android Kitkat, with a Ring to unlock the screen or open Phone/Messaging app.
Launcher is similar to MIUI variant, without App Drawer and with some nice possible customizations.
Notification Bar seems to be similar to TouchWiz variant, with many useful toggles. It is pretty smooth too.
The Phone/Contacts app is something that probably you have already seen somewhere. This is extremely similar to the MIUI v5 variant, just with different colors.
The last customized part of the OS is the Recent Apps screen. It included a Task Killer button and a Used/Free RAM Indicator. It works extremely well.
Just like other last-gen Mediatek Devices, there are some typical features such as Gestures (Somatosensory), Scheduled Power On/Off, etc…
The pure and clean Android Experience hasn’t been impacted so much, only some parts of the OS are not like Stock Android, but nothing that can make its usage harder than usual.
Something that I have really appreciated is that CUBOT doesn’t install any third-party app (except Clean Master, removable), and there are no Chinese words anywhere, so the software has been properly developed for foreign markets. Really nice Company Policy.
Also, the UI is always responsive and smooth, with no lags at all. It’s nice to see that a Chinese company focuses its attention on the software, and I can confirm this because they are also providing frequent OTA Updates for their models.
Benchmarks
I have used 3DMark, Antutu Benchmark, Epic Citadel, GeekBench 3, GFXBench, AndroBench, PCMark (Work) and Vellamo (Browser & CPU Tests) to stress the device to the limit. I won’t test Games or Video Playback because there are already some related tests included in these Benchmark suites.
3DMark – GPU Performance isn’t extremely good, OpenGL 3.1 & 3.0 tests require lots of power, and this is where the GPU falls.
AndroBench – eMMC Performance seems to be pretty high, especially as regards Reading Speed. Pretty good considering that this isn’t the last-gen of eMMC (4.5 instead of 5.0)
Antutu Benchmark – I won’t say a lot about this benchmarks, this isn’t as reliable as others. I’m providing this just for benchmarks lovers.
Epic Citadel – As you can see, Gaming performance isn’t extremely low, there is enough power to handle games without major issues, you just won’t get ultra-high framerates.
GeekBench – CPU Performance is as good as other CPUs with the same configuration (4x Cortex-A53), decent for daily tasks.
GFXBench – Well...GFXBench score is low, really low. This benchmark suite is even more heavy than 3DMark, so you can’t expect a better score here.
PCMark – As you can see, only Video Playback score is a bit low. Pretty good.
Vellamo
Browser score tends to be a bit lower than expected, but Chrome score is just behind another device with an Octa-Core CPU, so this isn’t something that should be ignored.
The same for the CPU score, the device is just behind others with Octa-Core CPUs.
Summaring all results, I can say that this device provides enough power to handle daily tasks and light gaming. You can’t expect more from a Mediatek MT6735 CPU.
Conclusions
Unlike most of all Chinese companies, CUBOT publishes CE, FCC & ROHS certificates about each device, so if you’re interested about CUBOT devices safety, you can just go here: http://www.cubot.net/support/ and read them. This is something rare to find in China, and it makes you think how much a company is interested in foreign markets where Safety comes first. This doesn’t mean that China isn’t interested in Safety, but there are many users that want to know SAR Values, Certificates and so on about a Smartphone before buying it, so this is something pretty useful.
Summarizing all results, I can say that this is one of the best mid-range device available on the market. Great Quality Chassis, Bright and Sharp Display, Superb Battery Life and Excellent Call Quality are the major positive features about this device and I can really recommend it if you are searching for something that satisfies these qualities.
Price is pretty low, the device is sold by almost every shop that sells Chinese Smartphones and it has been certified to work on other markets than China.

Battery Updates.
5000mAh Battery Capacity is confirmed.
About Battery Life, i used the device for two days without charging it, and this is the result. (4G On, WiFi almost everytime Off, Used as WiFi Hotspot, Medium/High Signal). I have rebooted the device 2 times, and starting for the first reboot it stopped recording the Signal stats, so don't worry about it. I haven't used Airplane Mode.
Looks good.

Would be really interested to see if it's possible, as it's had me tearing my hair out, and Cubot seem to think the notifications should be popping up with no solution themselves.

Introduction
Following their previous battery-phone flow, OUKITEL decided to upgrade their well-made K6000 with major differences. The OUKITEL K6000 is entirely based on its previous model, but with an upgraded CPU, increased RAM/ROM, a better screen and some other minor differences. Somehow they have removed the Notification LED, but they have added an useful Fingerprint Sensor. They probably had to remove something in order to keep its price low.
This is the OUKITEL K6000 Pro

Hardware
This device is powered by a Mediatek MT6753 SOC clocked at 1.3GHz, with a plenty amount of RAM (3GB) and ROM (32GB). It shares the same Rear Camera sensor used by the Huawei P8 Lite (13MP OmniVision OV13850), not bad at all, while the Front Camera sensor is an excellent 5MP OmniVision OV5670. Another interesting hardware component on this device is the Screen, it is made by AUO and provides an excellent viewing experience, with superb brightness and color reproduction. Follow my next paragraphs to know more.
Unboxing
Packaging comes with many accessories: 1x TPU Cover (transparent), 1x Screen Protector (Plastic-made), 1x SIM/MicroSD tray Eject Tool, 1x Micro-USB Cable, 1x OTG Cable, 1x 5V/7V/9V USB Quick Charger, 1x Manual and the Smartphone (of course). No Headset included.
Just like the K6000, also the K6000 Pro has a Metal Chassis, with a Metal Back Cover. The device feels absolutely solid, it doesn’t feel too heavy too even if there is a 6000mAh battery inside. All is supported by a nice design.
It is just 15.5x7.8x1.04cm, not so slim, but don’t forget that there is a 6000mAh battery inside, and it weights 214g, not so much.
On the front side there is the 2.5D Curved Display, that makes the usage of the device much more ergonomic. The Glass is enclosed in a Plastic Frame, which increases the device’s toughness, while the upper front side of the device features a Front-Facing Camera, an Earpiece, and the Sensors hole that includes Light, Proximity and Gesture Sensors. Unfortunately No Notification LED is here.
On the lower front side of the device there are the Soft-Keys Navigation Buttons (not retro-illuminated).
On the back side there is metal back cover, but on the upper and lower sides of the back cover there are two plastic covers, probably used for the antenna stuff.
The upper rear side of the device features a slightly protunding Camera supported by a Dual-Flash (Single Tone) configuration, and the small rounded Fingerprint Scanner.
The lower rear side of the device features the Brand Logo and the Speaker hole.
Device
Screen
OUKITEL, even if they do not declare it, choose an high-quality IPS screen on this device, made by AUO. Probably one of the best screens I have ever tried, with a nice balance between brightness and image quality.
Brightness is great, without no issues at all under direct sunlight. The Light Sensor works great too, and supports smooth light changes making auto-brightness much better.
About Viewing Angles, the screen doesn’t suffer any kind of issue, it behaves perfect in every single condition.
Camera
Even if the Rear Camera has some of the best technical specs available as regards mid-high end sensors, the camera software hasn’t been optimized at all. Even if you play with the settings, you won’t be able to take photos with no noise or with just low noise, you’ll always take extremely noisy photos that doesn’t look pretty well. OUKITEL, please work on it because this Camera Sensor can work much better.
As you can see, HDR makes photos brighter just like it should.
Flashlight is extremely powerful, unfortunately it isn’t dual-tone, but it helps a lot in almost every condition.
As regards Video Recording, there are no major issues. 1080p videos (Video Quality – Fine) are recorded with a decent level of details, just remember that there is no OIS so you can’t expect stable videos.
V Just check my sample here V
Front Camera is good, probably better than rear camera as regards noise level.
Audio
Speaker isn’t loud, a bit poor as regards its power, it lacks low-frequencies but there are no issues with Sound Clarity. You can’t expect more for this price.
Thanks to the 4G Band 20 support (some other Chinese Smartphones don’t have it), I’m almost always and everywhere connected to the 4G Network of my Mobile Network Provider (TIM Italy).
Also 3G Signal Reception is accurate, actually I never managed to get connected to the 2G Network of my Mobile Operator because there was always some 3G Signal available.
4G Network Speed is decent, it highly depends on your Mobile Operator and mine isn’t pretty good. While 3G Network Speed, is just fine.
This is a Speed Test taken using my poor 4G internet connection, unfortunately I won’t be able to show a better one. (poor mobile network operator)
There is no WiFi 5GHz support here, but WiFi 2.4GHz speed isn’t extremely low, I managed to get connected to my network connection at 65mbps, and Speed Tests reach more or less 40mbps.
Battery Life
I have measured the real battery capacity using my USB Tester, and as you can see it is almost correct. (declared 6000mAh, real almost 5850mAh)
I’m able to reach more than 10 hours of screen-on time with everything on (Sync, Location, 4G, WiFi…), and this GeekBench Battery Benchmark made without 4G on (only WiFi), confirms it.
If you are worried about charging times, you don’t have to. OUKITEL provides a Quick Charger (with MTK Pump Express Plus tech.), similar to Qualcomm’s Quick Charge tech., that allows you to charge the device completely in more or less 2 hours.
Software
OUKITEL choose to use an almost completely clean Android 6.0 release and it works much better than many other devices I have tried. It offers the same Nexus experience, just with some add-ons that you can choose to enable or not.
Just like other last-gen Mediatek Devices, there are some typical features such as Gestures, Scheduled Power On/Off, etc…
The UI is extremely responsive and smooth, with no lags at all (except the screen rotation animation). I didn’t managed to find any software issue, so...well done OUKITEL!
As regards the Fingerprint Scanner management, it can be configured via the Settings apps and it can be configured easily, unlike other Android 5.1 devices. Also, it gets unlocked pretty fast without major accuracy issues (it isn’t perfect, but pretty good).
Benchmarks
I have used 3DMark, Antutu Benchmark, Epic Citadel, GeekBench 3, GFXBench, AndroBench, PCMark (Work & Storage) and Vellamo (Browser & CPU Tests) to stress the device to the limit. I won’t test Games or Video Playback because there are already some related tests included in these Benchmark suites.
3DMark – GPU Performance isn’t extremely good, OpenGL 3.1 & 3.0 tests require lots of power, and this is where almost every mid-range GPU falls. OpenGL 2.0 tests are pretty good though.
Other 3DMark tests can be found on my Imgur album linked at the bottom of the thread.
AndroBench – eMMC Performance seems to be decent, especially as regards Reading Speed. Writing Speed isn’t as good as other devices though, but still good.
Antutu Benchmark – I won’t say a lot about this benchmarks, this isn’t as reliable as others. I’m providing this just for benchmarks lovers.
Epic Citadel – As you can see, 3D performance isn’t so high, but still enough for almost all games.
GeekBench – CPU Performance is nearly as good as other CPUs with the same configuration (8x Cortex-A53), enough to handle almost every type of activity. It could have been better though.
GFXBench– GFXBench score is low, but you can’t expect something better with this CPU.
PCMark – As you can see, only Writing score is a bit low. Pretty good.
Work
Storage
Vellamo
Browser score is probably lower than expected.
The same for the CPU score. Multicore score is nice though.
Performance could have been better, but i’ll wait next OTA Updates to express a final opinion about it.
Conclusions
Even if there are some issues with the Camera Software, everything else is almost perfect, so I can clearly say that if you need a device that features an huge battery and has high-quality components inside, then this is probably the best choice.
Just because I know that this device could work even better, please stay tuned to this thread so that if I manage to find any improvement with the next OTA updates, I will specify them and update the review.
Pros:
High-Fidelity & Bright Screen
Battery Life
Lightweight
Cheap
Cons:
No Notification LED
Camera Software (needs huge improvements to reduce noise)
A bit Heavy

In my K6000 pro, gps is one of the best i have ever seen. Very high accuracy, high signal strength. Only missing compass and gyro are the bad things in my opinion (plus no notification led and no backlighted soft kays).

CUBOT S500/S550 - Information & Reviews - 5.0"/5.5" HD | MT6735 | 2GB | 16GB | Glass
Introduction
With the diffusion of Devices with Fingerprint Scanner, also CUBOT choose to release three devices featuring it (S500, S550, S600). All devices have almost the same characteristics, but each one is made for a specific user. Luckily I had the possibility to review both devices, so i’ll show you also a nice comparision.

This is the CUBOT S500 on the left and its big-brother CUBOT S550 on the right.
Hardware
Both devices features a mid-range SOC, MT6735, that is able to handle every daily task without major issues. RAM isn’t extremely high, 2 GB, but still enough to handle almost everything. Of course these devices aren’t made for gaming, I find them business-focused because they are extremely elegant, especially the Black variant.
Unboxing
On both devices, packaging comes with some accessories: 1x Plastic Cover (already applied to the device), 1x Screen Protector (Tempered Glass) with Wipes, 1x SIM/MicroSD tray Eject Tool, 1x Micro-USB Cable (really nice quality), 1x 5V/1A USB Charger, 1x Quick Start Guide and the Smartphone (of course). No Headset included.
As always, CUBOT has focused its attention on the design, the device is pretty slim and feels solid, even if there is a little key rattle. I find this design pretty innovative and clean.
The S500 is 14.4x6.8x0.7cm and weights 174 g, while the S550 is 15.4x7.8x0.7cm and weights 203 g. Weight has been impacted a bit due to the Back Glass cover, but nothing extremely heavy.
On the front side there is the 2.5D Curved Display. On 5 inches smartphones this feature is pretty rare, really nice. The glass is enclosed in a Plastic Frame, while on the upper front side of the device features a Front-Facing Camera, an Earpiece and the Sensors hole that includes Light, Proximity and Gesture Sensors. Unfortunately there is no LED here. The lower front side of the device there are the Soft-Keys Navigation Buttons (not retroilluminated).
On the back side, there is a 2.5D Curved Glass, just like the front glass, and a Fingerprint Scanner.
The upper rear side of the device features a small Camera supported by a Single Flashlight, and the Fingerprint Scanner.
The lower rear side of the device features a noticeable Brand Logo, some little words about the Device and the classic Speaker hole.
Both devices are identical, except for the Keys Position. As you can see, on S550 all keys are on the right side, while on S500 there is a Power Button on the right and the Volume Keys on the left. Don’t ask me why, I would like to know it too. Chassis is Slim and Well-Built.
Device
Screen
Both devices have an IPS Screen, and CUBOT decided to adopt OGS Technology in order to reduce the space between the screen and the glass.
Screen Quality isn’t the best that I have ever seen, but Colors and Brightness are decent, especially on S500, its brightness is just awesome.
I have used my Galaxy S4 Light Sensor to measure CUBOT S500 (left) & S550 (right) maximum brightness. I don’t have a professional Lumen Meter, so this (Lux) is the only value that I can provide you.
About Viewing Angles, both screen behaves pretty well, but, especially on S500, it tends to lose colors if you try to watch it upside down.
Image Contrast and Saturation are pretty accurate, with Natural Colors and excellent White reproduction.
Camera
On both devices Back Camera (OmniVision OV8865) seems to work pretty good, but the resolution is interpolated to 13mpx (Camera Sensor is just 8mpx) and, just like almost all Chinese Smartphones, the noise level is a bit high. If CUBOT works a bit more on the Camera software, I’m pretty sure that Photos Quality will be improved.
Without HDR, and in Medium Light conditions, Photos aren’t pretty bad.
The Flashlight, even if is Single, seems to provide enough light (probably also too much) to support low-light photos.
Front-Facing Camera seems to be decent, but i don’t know if resolution is interpolated to 8mpx or not, anyway Photos are pretty good. Here you can find a comparision between front (left) & back (right) camera.
Maximum Supported Video Resolution is 720p, and Quality is just fine as you would expect from a Front-Facing camera.
Audio
Speaker is loud, with a decent level of Bass and Clarity.
I have measured its loudness using my Galaxy S4 Microphone, here you’ll see its maximum power.
Unfortunately, it is positioned on the back, and, as I have already said for the CUBOT H2, if you place the device on a table you could experience volume issues, but this doesn’t mean that it is a bad thing. As always, what matters here is the quality.
In-Call Quality seems to be pretty good, as is on the CUBOT H2 that I have previously reviewed, so I can only say that all CUBOT devices features a great Call Quality and they use good quality speakers for the Earpiece and Microphone. Well Done CUBOT!
Battery Life
Battery Life seems to be decent for the battery. On both devices I managed to reach more or less 5 hours of Screen-On Time, with Wi-Fi, 4G, Location & Sync ON on the GeekBench Battery Test.
CUBOT S500 has a declared battery capacity of 2700mAh while the S550 has a declared battery capacity of 3000mAh, and I can confirm that this is real. Just take a look at my USB Tester. It is even a bit higher than declared.
Software
CUBOT choose to use a completely clean Android 5.1 release and all seem to work fine. Basically it seems a Nexus Device. The only customized part of the OS is the Recent Apps screen. It included a Task Killer button and a Used/Free RAM Indicator. It works extremely well.
Just like other last-gen Mediatek Devices, there are some typical features such as Gestures (Somatosensory), Scheduled Power On/Off, etc…
The UI is always responsive and smooth, with no lags at all. It’s nice to see that a Chinese company focuses its attention on the software, and I can confirm this because they are also providing frequent OTA Updates for their models.
As regards the Fingerprint Scanner management, it can be configured via the Settings apps and configuration is extremely fast.
CUBOT declares that the Screen can be unlocked in more or less 0.3s using the Fingerprint Scanner, but I have to say that it isn’t true. It takes almost 2 seconds to get unlocked.
I’ll show you CUBOT S550 benchmarks because S500 shares the same hardware.
3DMark – GPU Performance isn’t extremely good, OpenGL 3.1 & 3.0 tests require lots of power, and this is where the GPU falls.
AndroBench – eMMC Performance isn’t pretty good, especially as regards Writing Speed.
(even the newer model CUBOT H2 has exactly the same performance, and shares the same CPU)
Conclusions
As I have already said for the CUBOT H2, unlike most of all Chinese companies, CUBOT publishes CE, FCC & ROHS certificates about each device, so if you’re interested about CUBOT devices safety, you can just go here: http://www.cubot.net/support/ and read them.
(e.g. CUBOT H2)
Summarizing all results, it’s hard to express an opinion. Both devices are good, and you choose your preferred Screen Size, but they are part of the mid-low range of Smartphones. The lack of a Notification LED and just 2 GB of RAM can’t be ignored, but there is a enough fast Fingerprint Sensor that could be helpful for some kind of users. So...do I recommend it? Yes and no. If you don’t need to use heavy apps and if you have a limited budget, then it is ok otherwise buy the latest CUBOT H2 that is absolutely awesome, even if it lacks a Fingerprint Sensor.

Advice: DO NOT DROP your CUBOT S550 without a TPU Cover, otherwise you'll risk to broke it. I have dropped mine from my chair (so more or less 60cm of height) and the whole screen glass broke up even if there was a Tempered Glass applied on the screen. Luckily it is still working, only the glass is broken.
Is root possible for S500 ?? Have until now only a TWRP for s550 found.
Root is possible

The device looks solid and well finished, the metal side frame is well matched with the smooth lines of the front glass 2.5D and back cover in painted plastic ..
The screen is really a good IPS HD resolution, very high brightness and good color management and white balance
We find the Android 7.0 update at the end of February 2017 with February Security patch.
really good 10 points Touch , beautiful design that does not reveal the cheap character that the price might suggest.
We start from the hardware, 32Bit MT6580 Quad Core 1.3Ghz with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of storage, are able to make good enough user experience ..
Ram free is approximately 40% of its capacity (400Mb free ram) and internal rom with the free part of over 11.5Gb of 16 (bearing in mind that the rest is not utlizzabile space for the data given that there is a system with appurtenances).
Screen with treatment it 2,5D on the edges, and plastic film supplied already applied, power supply 5V 1A, Micro-USB cable and quick manuals.
Led Notification on the top right, just near the front flash LED, the LED also works being charged, it's just Blue, is not button and can not be managed in the settings (it's just disabled).
Cameras:
13mp Rear f / 2.4 and 2Mpixel flanked by a single LED 1A
The quality of photos and videos is decent, a good sharpness. The use of dual camera mode shutter, tends to create, as seen in other Chinese smartphone, a "blur" / "bokeh" effect very little effective and natural, creating a sort of radial blur, independent of the sense of depth of field dual camera should bring. In the video field, registration is up to max 1080P at 3p fps
Frontal 5Mp f / 2.8 lens with LED flash with excellent brightness
The quality of the selfie is appropriate to the class of the device, sufficient sharpness and front fill flash that behaves well.
Gestures screen off and sensory gesture to better manage the use without hands or with accelerometer sensor. Double Tap for comfortable and functional awakening.
Keys not backlit screen outside, power button and volume to the right and slots for two sim (micro) and Micro Sd positioned under the removable back cover.
Audio discreetly call earbud, quite mediocre speaker, which is giving a disturbed and metallic effect.
good reception, bands for the main sim all necessary for 3G, including 3G 900Mhz .. REMEMBER that the phone is 3G only.
GPS that does a quick fix with about 8 hooked satellites and precision of 4/6 meters; Exceptional signal strength and even Indoor gets along really well !.
Battery that with a 2350mAh rating allows plus 4 hours of heated screen and can be recharged with its 1A power supply in about 2 h and 40 minutes.
Present Sensors: Proximity, Accelerometer, Brightness .. . absent compass and gyroscope.
▲▲PROS ▲▲
- really low price
- construction with aluminum frame, especially the attention to detail and flawless assembly.
- Cpu 4 Core MT6580 up to 1.3GHz which while not excelling, behaves in a dignified manner.
- Good screen colors 5 "HD, Miravision for calibration, good touch to 10 points and 2.5D glass.
- Two SIM (Micro) for full 3G compatibility (3G 900MHz band present).
- MicroSD Slot separate tested with capacities up to 128GB.
- Led for notification and gestures to screen off-functioning and well implemented.
- Dual Camera + 13 2Mp that as an idea is good, but the software implementation creates an unnatural effect.
- Led Flash on the Front; With microUSB OTG compatibility.
- GPS is accurate and with very high reception strength.
- Integrated battery 2350mAh showing a good autonomy.
- Android 7 Nougat with updated patch in February, no malware installed in stagefright vulnerability.
- Presence of transparent silicone cover in the sales package.
- CE, RoHS, REACH and SAR Cubot downloaded from the site.
▼▼CONS ▼▼
- Lack of 4G.
- 1 GB of RAM is limiting in the case of using the Multitasking or social apps in quantity.
- soft function buttons not backlighted.
- Some force closing message app (parallel space) after long standby (software problem probably due to the new Android 7)
- Battery cover and screen protection film attracts fingerprints massively.
- Cover really hard to remove, tenacious joints and each opening shakes for possible rupture of the plastic clips (not occurred after several removals to be honest).
Introduction
This is the CUBOT Rainbow 2.
Hardware
Similar to the previous Rainbow (1) from CUBOT (that i had to refuse due to customs issues, dammit), this one features the same CPU and RAM, but with more ROM and a better overall Camera Hardware. It is powered by a Mediatek MT6580 SOC clocked at 1.30GHz, a bit outdated and slower compared to the MT6737 used in almost all low-end devices nowadays, together with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of ROM. Also, there are two rear-cameras, used to handle the Blur effect. (even though i'm not sure about its real utility)
Unboxing
Packaging comes with some accessories: 1x Micro-USB Cable, 1x 5V/1A USB Charger, 1x Quick Start Guide, 1x Compliance Regulation Booklet, 1x Anti-Shock TPU Cover and the Smartphone (of course). A plastic screen protector is pre-applied.
Talking about the dimensions, the device is pretty compact is comfortable to handle. It is 14.4x8.84x0.88cm, with medium bezels, and weights 157g, maybe a bit heavy for a plastic 5 inches device.
The device looks stylish, with a matte back cover that, ignoring the fact that is a fingerprint magnet, it looks really nice, similar to the old Galaxy S1 from Samsung. There are no Metal Parts, everything is made of plastic.
On the front side there is the usual 2.5D Curved Display and the upper front side of the device features a Front-Facing Camera with a Big Flashlight, an Earpiece, and the Sensors hole that includes Light, Proximity and Gesture Sensors. A Notification LED is here, supporting only one color: Blue.
Here you can see the LED in action.
On the lower front side there is the classic soft-keys zone, with Recents, Home and Back button. Not backlit. You can notice the hidden microphone somewhere between the home and back buttons.
On the back side there is the removable back cover, but the battery isn't removable. The upper rear side of the device features the Dual Camera Sensor supported by a Single-LED Flashlight.
On the lower rear side there is only the Model Name with some Certification Logos. The speaker is positioned on the lower side of the device.
Device
Screen
Unlike some other 5 inches devices i have reviewed, this one features an interesting screen with accurate color reproduction, nice viewing angles and no strange banding issues.
The Light Sensor supports smooth light changes, with a proper auto-brightness management. This is its maximum brightness. Excellent Brightness.
Viewing Angles matches IPS screen capabilities.
Camera
This device features a GalaxyCore 8MP Rear Camera together with a GalaxyCore 0.3MP Secondary Rear Camera, offering some nice shots, but do not expect to see something outstanding. This is still a budget device, don't forget it.
A nice amount of details is here, low-light shots are decent and the level of noise isn't really high.
"HDR off" on the left and "HDR on" on the right. Some improvements are noticeable.
Macros are not great at all, unlike Wide photos. Auto-Focus management needs to be improved.
The Single-LED Flashlight doesn't seem to be powerful for dark shots, but it is acceptable.
SLR/Blur Photos seem OK, i'm not an expert with this kind of photos so i don't know if this is a good result or not.
As regards Video Recording, 1080p videos are surprisingly great, much better than most budget devices i have reviewed. Smooth and with an high level of details.
Front Camera records sufficient photos for video-chat and occasional shots. Also, it seems to be a Wide-Angle variant, and the extra flashlight seem to help a bit. On the right you can see the same photo taken using the front flashlight.
Audio
Speaker's Quality is decent, a low amount of low-frequencies is here and the volume is decent. I don't understand why the second speaker grill hasn't been used at all, considering that the microphone is on the front side.
As regards the Microphone, it works decently well in any case (in-call, VOIP, etc...), and the earpiece is loud enough to be used in any condition.
GPS
Unfortunately the GPS isn't the best part of this device, the signal isn't really high and indoors it costantly loses the signal. For a plastic device, running on a stable MT6580 chipset, this is a bit disappointing.
Indoors on the left, outdoors on the right.
Telephony, Mobile Network & WiFi
This device doesn't support 4G networks, so you have to use your old 3G HSPA+ (42MBps max) connection to use your Mobile Data plan.
Signal Reception is accurate, but 3G coverage is just perfect here where i live so that's something i would have expected. Just like what happens with other devices, 3G Network Speed is low, thanks to my crappy Mobile Network that has lower than average 3G performance.
WiFi 5GHz isn't supported here. With my 2.4GHz network, i was able to reach almost 23mbps, connected at 65mbps, this seems to be the slowest WiFi performance i have ever seen. CUBOT, please take a look at this issue.
Battery Life
As always, i have measured the real battery capacity using my USB Tester, and it seems that the real battery capacity is slightly higher compared to the declared value (declared 2350mAh, real ~2440mAh).
This is the PCMark Work 2.0 Battery Benchmark, the battery runtime is great considering the battery capacity.
As regards battery charging times, the 5V/1A charger doesn't allow any super fast charging, but in just a bit more of 2 hours it gets charged completely.
Software
Following all previous CUBOT devices, also this one comes with a completely clean Android OS, and most important, based on Nougat 7.0. Something rare to find with MT6580 devices, such an old chipset with such a new Android Version, something that i would have never expected from Mediatek. There are some apps that i might recommend you to disable (screenshot attached), in order to get the best performance.
All Mediatek features are still there such as Gestures, Scheduled Power On/Off, etc…
No Malwares Detected using MalwareBytes Anti-Malware.
Even though the device isn't so powerful, it is still able to handle basic tasks, but do not expect to run multiple apps in the same time, some micro-lags are here with some latency issues.
Benchmarks
I have used 3DMark, AndroBench, Antutu Benchmark, Epic Citadel, GeekBench 4, GFXBench, PCMark (Work 2.0, Computer Vision, Storage & Work 1.0) and Vellamo to stress the device to the limit. I won’t test Games or Video Playback because there are already some related tests included in these Benchmark suites.
3DMark – GPU Performance is decent, this is a low-end device with an old Mali-400 GPU so we can't expect something better.
AndroBench – eMMC Performance isn't the best i have ever seen.
Antutu Benchmark – I won’t say a lot about this benchmark, this isn’t as reliable as others. I’m providing this just for benchmarks lovers.
Epic Citadel – Based on this result, OpenGL 2.0 Games should run pretty smooth here.
GeekBench – CPU Performance is a bit low, there are 4x Cortex-A7 CPUs here that can't provide much computational performance. Sufficient for basic daily tasks.
CPU
Compute
GFXBench – Not the best GPU performance here, but i might have expected something even worse.
PCMark – Well, it isn't possible to get better performance on this MT6580 SOC, low-end performance is confirmed.
Work 2.0
Computer Vision
Storage
Work 1.0
Vellamo – Browsers Performance seems to be decent, nothing to complain about it.
Conclusions
Being a Dual Camera device at a low price it is expected to find something not 100% perfect. This is a good budget device, with the best camera quality for this price range, but probably lower than average performance. Build Quality is acceptable and the availability of 16GB of ROM instead of the usual 8GB is something pretty appreciated.
So, do i recommend this device? Well, if you are looking a budget device that is able to shot some acceptable photos and great videos, yes, otherwise you may take a look at more powerful alternatives available for the same price.
Pros:
Impressive Battery Life
4-points Touch Screen
High Screen Brightness
Great Video Quality
Nice Dual Camera Configuration
Notification LED
Cons:
No Magnetometer/Gyroscope
Still using the old MT6580 chipset
WiFi Performance needs to be improved
Low GPS Performance and Reliability
A bit heavy considering the size

Review (part 1)
Introduction
This is the OUKITEL K5000.
Hardware
Part of the K-series, that is the battery phone series of OUKITEL, this K5000 features a 5.7" HD+ (720x1440 18:9 aspect ratio) IPS screen that helps to reduce, even if only slightly, the size of the device, with a mid-range Mediatek MT6750T SOC, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of Storage. Everything is powered by a massive 5000mAh battery.
Unfortunately some weird choices have been made with this device for various parts of it, follow the next paragraphs to know more.
Unboxing
There are no many accessories included in the package unfortauntely: 1x Type-C USB Cable, 1x 5V/2A USB Charger, 1x Quick Guide, 1x Warranty Certificate, 1x SIM Card Tray Removal Tool, 1x Type-C to 3.5mm Headphone Jack, 1x TPU Case and the Smartphone (of course). A screen protector is already applied.
As you can clearly notice, the whole frame is made of Metal and feels solid, with a Plastic back cover (non-removable). Thanks to the rounded-corners, it is ergonomically more comfortable, but you can't expect miracles since it is still a bit thick and heavy, as you can read below.
Something i don't understand is the removal of the headphone jack, there is lots of wasted space. The device is thick enough to contain it. The same applies for the Speaker, it has been placed on the back when they could have fitted it on the lower side of the chassis with no issues at all. Pretty disappointing.
Thanks to the 18:9 aspect ratio and limited bezels, it is one of the most compact (excluding the thickness) battery phones i have ever reviewed, but due to its limited size, the weight isn't well-distributed thus it is really noticeable, at least for me that i don't have big hands: 15.21x7.28x1.10cm/220g.
Starting from the front side, there the so-declared 2.5D Asahi Glass that covers the IPS panel while the upper front side of the device features a Front-Facing camera supported by a small Flashlight, an Earpiece and the Sensors hole that includes Light and Proximity Sensors. No Notification LED is here.
On the lower front side there isn't anything at all. On-screen navigation keys are used instead of hardware buttons.
The back side features a glossy plastic surface that produces some nice light effects, something becoming almost a standard in the last few months, all devices i reviewed featured it. Fashion reasons? I don't know.
The upper rear side of the device features the Camera Sensor with a Dual-LED - Dual-Tone Flashlight, plus a Fingerprint Scanner just below it.
On the lower rear side there is the OUKITEL logo and the pretty-large Speaker hole.
Device
Screen
Something i really enjoy about this device is the screen. Even though its resolution isn't really high, only HD+ for a 5.7" surface, it is really sharp and the color accuracy is excellent. No color temperature issues neither high response-time. Definetely a thumbs-up for OUKITEL, great choice.
Also the light sensor works perfectly and the screen's maximum brightness is high-enough, ~396lux, sufficient for outdoor usage.
Viewing Angles are as good as you would expect from an high-quality IPS panel.
Camera
Unfortunately there are some problems with the camera. First of all, OUKITEL choose to use an outdated (but not bad to be honest) camera sensor (Sony IMX135) while for the Front Camera they choose a better, and newer, sensor from Samsung (ISOCELL S5K3P3SX). I don't understand this choice, it is logical to prefer the opposite
Anyway, the rear camera works as good/bad as on all other devices i tested with the same sensor, there isn't a really high amount of details even with lots of light available, and HDR helps a lot to get better photos. Color reproduction is just fine though, and if you decrease the ISO to its minimum (100), it is possible to get some better photos.
Some photos taken in different light conditions.
Macros look slightly blurry, but perfectly acceptable.
Thanks to the Dual-LED - Dual-Tone Flashlight, it is normal to except some great results, here is an example. It is powerful and doesn't mess with colors, just perfect. It's a pity to see such high-quality flashlight with this camera sensor.
Videos are recorded at 1080p30 with an overall stable frame-rate and acceptable quality, not the best neither the worst. You can't get anything better from this camera sensor.
I don't know if my front-camera sensor is faulty or if there is an issue with the software that probably handles the auto-focus mechanism, but as you can clearly notice, photos taken using the front-facing camera look almost 100% blurry.
Here is a focus-test pattern printed on a A4 paper and then used as example, the right side is completely messed up.
Audio
Sometimes placing the speaker on the rear provides some benefits since it is possible to use a bigger one without having to use any weird hack to fit it in the chassis. As a result, it is really powerful with some low-frequencies, neither it distorts too much at maximum volume. Still, it is not the ideal position.
Nothing to report about the Microphone and Earpiece, the quality is just fine. No issues noticed while in-call neither in recorded videos.
GPS
GPS Accuracy require some improvements, while the signal is high-enough and stable.
Indoors on the left, outdoors on the right.
Telephony, Mobile Network & WiFi
Provides full european 4G bands support (including Band 20), the device was able to stay connected to my mobile operator's 4G network almost everywhere, everytime, with a reasonably high signal but slightly lower than average connection speed.
The device supports 5.0GHz WiFi network, and the signal is excellent with no connection speed issues.
Battery Life
Believe it or not, but the battery capacity test is just impressive. OUKITEL declares a 5000mAh battery for the device, but, based on my test, it is way higher, reaching almost 5450mAh! Unbelievable. Before you ask me, yes this time has been done multiple times to be 100% sure. Well done OUKITEL!
Confirming the battery capacity, with my usual PCMark Battery Test it was able to obtain an excellent result: 16 hours & 8 minutes (minimum brightness, WiFi on, Sync on)
There must be a Mediatek Pump Express chargers cost-increase in the last few weeks, since all devices i tested with big batteries weren't including one. Odd. The included 5V/2A charger takes more than 3 hours to recharge the device completely, some patience required xD.
Software
I always enjoy to review devices that provide an almost-stock Android experience, and this one is no exception. OUKITEL is known to not customize the OS (except for some models released in the past), and this one comes with the Mediatek distribution of Android 7.0 Nougat featuring October's Security Patches. No bloatware is preinstalled, and the device runs pretty smooth with no noticeable lags or stuttering.
Most Mediatek "Goodies" such as MiraVision are there, but i wasn't able to find any gesture such as Double tap-to-wake and similar.
Thankfully all sensors have been included, Gyroscope and Magnetometer/Compass are there!
No malwares detected with Kaspersky Anti-Virus using latest definitions.
Excellent Fingerprint Scanner accuracy and acceptable unlock time. Also, it's shape is perfect, hard to place the finger in the incorrect position. Thumbs up for this implementation.
Review (part 2)
Benchmarks
NOTE: If you follow my reviews you may notice that all benchmarks look almost identical to another device i tested some days ago. Possible identical motherboard manufacturer? Leave here a post if you have any plausible idea about this.
3DMark – MT6750T (Mali-T860MP2 GPU) + HD+ screen = pretty good 3D performance. Way higher compared to FHD alternatives.
AndroBench – Excellent I/O Performance, an high-quality eMMC has been used. One of the fastest found on a MT6750T device.
Antutu Benchmark – I won’t say a lot about this benchmark, this isn’t as reliable as others. I’m providing this just for benchmarks lovers.
Epic Citadel – Excellent result for a mid-range SOC, really enjoyable games on this device.
GeekBench – Of course the HD+ res. doesn't improve CPU performance, similar to other MT6750T devices and enough for most basic tasks.
CPU
Compute
GFXBench – The same thoughts written for the 3DMark benchmark are valid also for this one.
PCMark – Overall high scores, still impressive Storage performance also here.
Work 2.0
Computer Vision
Storage
Work 1.0
Vellamo – Weird result for the Chrome Browser test, really low for some reason, while other scores are just fine similar to other MT6750T devices.
Conclusions
It is pretty hard to write some conclusions about this device, it is really good and not so good in the same time. There are some weird choices that i can't accept (rear camera sensor and headphone jack removal), but there are also some really positive parts about it such as the excellent screen quality and battery life.
I will contact OUKITEL to know more about this front-camera issue that, hopefully, can be easily fixed, but for everything else, it is an interesting device that deserves to be considered.
So...do i recommend it? Well, if you don't mind about the notes written above and you think it satisfies your requirements, then yes.
Pros:
Excellent Screen Quality
Both Gyroscope & Magnetometer/Compass are present
Great Battery Life
Overall good build quality
Solid Performance
Cons:
Serious issues with the front camera (might be an hardware issue though)
Outdated rear camera sensor
No Headphone Jack (!!!)
Speaker positioned on the back
No Quick Charge
Rating: 8.5

Nice review:fingers-crossed: @Alberto96
thanks for this review. I have it it is a good phone; Some bugs when rotate screen, it freezes and become a half a screen. About battery, it is veru useful to have a good battery.
I hope that root will be made for this phone.

Really? Well at least i am happy to hear that my unit isn't faulty. It must be a software issue then. I don't have any news about a possible fix either.
