M9 stuck at boot after rooting - One (M9) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have unlocked my M9 and installed TWRP 3.0. After I install the superSU zip (tried 2.46 and 2.71) the phone doesn't boot anymore.
With 2.71 it kept bootlooping, and after 2.46 it got stuck on the HTC One screen.
Lucky enough, I made a back-up, so I'm good to go, but still no root.
When I enter the bootloader menu I noticed on the bottom was written in yellow: FILE /mnt/media_rw/ext_sd/0PJAIMG.zip
FILE not found
Does this have anything to do with not being able to root?
I'm on Android 6.0 by the way.
If anybody has any ideas, please let me know!
Thanks in advance.

You need SuperSU 2.65.
Also, did you fully update to 6.0 before rooting?

Yes, I did fully update to 6.0

Can't root after 4.4.4 OTA update.

I installed a stock recovery to update to 4.4.4 OTA. I then installed TWRP(openrecovery-twrp-2.8.1.0-m8) through fastboot and attempted to install the super SU zip 2.00.
The file seemed to install properly as it gave me no errors, but I did not have root access when booting into the phone. I then tried CWM recovery (recovery-clockwork-6.0.4.8-m8). CWM installed the super SU 2.00 zip without any errors as well, but warned me before reboot that my root access was not found, I selected the option that "fixes" that, but still I am without root.
I like the 4.4.4 features but I don't want to be without root, please help me guys.
Let me know if you guys figure anything out for the stock rom. I just jumped on the latest cyanogenmod nighty till I figure this out.
Do you have s-off?
You should definitely get s-off as it makes everything so much easier.
But in the meantime, I would download the sunshine.apk and run it. It will reboot your phone and ask you to confirm and enter PayPal info. I believe your phone at this point has a soft root. If you now run superSU and allow it to install the binary, you should have root.

How to root HTC one m8 running official marshmallow?

Hi!
So my HTC was rooted and all fun, but I couldn't install the OTA update due to TWRP recovery. So I unrooted and uninstalled TWRP. And then I received the official OTA update from HTC. Now my phones runs marshmallow and its smooth AF! I'm happy with it, but my QUESTION IS, How to root it again? I did try to root it and looked up for Youtube videos to figure it out, but I failed! Can someone help?
P.S: I couldn't find and videos on Youtube for rooting HTC one M8 on marshmallow.
1) Flash TWRP.
2) Flash SuperSU 2.67 BETA. It will flash superuser in systemless mode by patching the boot image. No other method as of now if you want root in system.
PS : AND REMEMBER, if TWRP shows you with an option to flash SuperSU after you're done flashing and/or later on whenever accessing your recovery, PRESS "DO NOT INSTALL" as flashing it using this option will mess up your system. Root will be present by flashing 2.67, it's just that TWRP isn't able to detect it.
Patched boot image is for "traditional" root (which modifies the system). The new "systemless" root method does not install the patched boot image.

HTC One m9 (Verizon) stuck on Bootscreen after root

I figured out how to unlock my boot loader with SUNSHINE. BootLoader UNLOCKED and S-OFF'd...... Installed when I went into recovery mode, installed SUPERSU and rebooted phone it only booted to the VERIZON boot screen and wouldn't do anything. I tried FACTORY RESET in DOWNLOAD MODE - still will not boot past the verizon screen
Are you in MM? What version of super su did you install? If yes, try flashing 2.65 if you haven't tried... (by the way, you can easily get out of the bootloop by restoring the boot.img)

Yes it's Marshmallow. I went back into recovery. Uploaded the SuperSU 2.65 into my phone, installed it. This time i notices an error message when it finished...
Could Not Find 'META-INF/com/google/android/update-binary' in the zip file.
Error installing zip file '/sdcard/UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.zip
Still does the same thing, just boots to the Verizon Screen
Got it working. I got the Stock RUU from http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...t/6-0-verizon-htc-one-m9-marshmallow-t3316279. Transferred it onto a SD CARD (That is formatted to FAT32) and booted the phone into download mode where it asks you to FLASH THE RUU. afterwards the phone is back to stock... Now I will try to root it with the correct SuperSU
The phone it rooted ad running. But I am having issues installing a custom ROM... I tried MAXIMUS HD, ANDROID REVOLUTION HD and ViperOne.... None of them will take, get the same error message as before............
******Could Not Find 'META-INF/com/google/android/update-binary' in the zip file.
Error installing zip file '/sdcard/UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.zip8********
Anyone know what could be wrong?

Which version of supersu and twrp?
Beamed in by telepathy.
i think twrp 2.8.6 and supersu 2.46? i cant recall what version of supersu but its some where in the 2.4 range its an older version which could be the cause for the bootup issue according to another user.
If your phone is on Marshmallow firmware, you need to be sure you have the latest versions of everything as stuff from Lollipop is not compatible. Most likely that's your problem. Make sure you have a Marshmallow rom and the latest twrp (3.0) and SuperSU 2.65.
right, but my issue right now is that my pc won't detect my phone so i can't put the later version of supersu.
Was it detecting it before? Can you get into recovery at all?
it was detecting it before and i cant get into recovery also i relocked my bootloader for the ruu and it says ***relocked***

Sounds like you need to reflash the RUU and start over. Then copy over the correct twrp and supersu.
how do i do that when I have the most updated ruu? the thread said to only upgrade from the current version
The rom will take as a reflash. Also, use a card reader to copy supersu to a microsd, put it into the phone, boot to twrp and flash from there.

7.0 S-ON Softbrick - Advice.

I have a US unlocked S-ON device.
I updated to 7.0. It had deal-breaking bugs so I was hoping to revert back to 6.0.
I used Magisk to root.
I tried to run Sunshine to see if it would work on 7.0, but it said I needed to uninstall Magisk.
Obviously Catch-22 No Magisk, no root, no sunshine, no downgrade. So installed SuperSU from the play store and let it uninstall the other root application as requested.
Reboot and I'm soft Bricked at the HTC Boot logo.
I extracted the Stock boot.img from the 7.0 OTA and flashed that to remove Magisk. - No luck.
I Cleared cache in recovery - No luck.
I did a Data Wipe / Factory Reset - No luck.
I tried flashing the latest 6.0 RUU anyway (S-ON) - No luck.
Anything else I can try or do I need to wait for an official 7.0 RUU now to recover this thing?

Latest RUU...7.0
WHAAAAAT?? I looked and couldn't find it. I figured since it wasn't on the HTC site, it just wasn't available yet.
That's awesome! Thanks so much!

Erntering recovery but not opeing TWRP

Hello, please could you help me. Ive spent days on this and now I'm stuck.
I'm trying to root my htc one m8. I originally needed to do this to let recovery software find missing pictures, however I've lost that because I had to unlock the bootloader which I understand wipes any previous files.
However npw I've started I may as well finish.
Bootloader is unlocked.
Superuser is installed on phone but says needs binary update?
Flashed twrp img file and it said it was okay. Deleted cache.
When I try to boot into recovery it says "entering recovery" but after a minute it just resets and loada up as normal.
Please could you help me as to where i have gone wrong.
Root checker says not rooted.
Thank you. I have searched for thia but can't seem to find anything on it sorry.

Sequence doesn't make sense. You installed superuser how? You need TWRP to install SU/SuperSU.
Also, you need a lot more info, for us to properly help.
What OS number does it say in bootloader?
What version TWRP did you try?
What SuperSU version number did you use? SuperSU (or alternately Magisk) is standard (not SU).
