Hello
I have bought my m5 about 3 weeks ago and I am not ok with battery life and charge time. When I fully charge it and use it at home (connected on my wifi), medium brightnes i cant use it more than 6-8 hrs. Also when i connect it on charger estimated charge time is 8 h... It takes 3-4 hrs to charge from 15% to 100%...
And my phone is always in roaming thats another issue i have...maybe i need to change my sim card..
Is all this normal ? How much can ur m5 stay alive with 100% battery and how much time does it take to charge full ?
I listen to music for about 6 hrsand it takes around 20%,charging takes about 2hrs that's normal.Today i watched three online videos(around 2.30 hrs length) with maximum brightness,i lost 40% of battery,so from 30%-100% it took 2hrs to charge.

I guess that I have battery or charger problem... When I listen music 2 hours and use internet 1 hour it drains me 50% :/
The charger that ships with M5 is just too slow (5V @ 850 mAh -- the same you would get on a low-end Xperia E3 or on the older Xperia M, for example). I can also confirm it takes around 3.5 to 4 hours to get it fully charged, but by using a more powerful charger (tested with Z3/Z3+ charger, 5V @ 1.5A), you can cut this time to around 1.5 to 2 hours. Furthermore, Helio X10 reportedly supports MediaTek Pump Express for fast-charging, but Xperia M5 isn't advertised as having support. I would like to test a Pump Express-enabled charger on M5 anyway, to see what happens (maybe we have fast charging on our devices? Who knows)...

Hi
its charging about 2-3 hours with the stock old charger which is the same as with the one ive got from mine m4 aqua
and the interesting thing is that at remaining time with stamina always on it shows about 30 hours without the stamina it shows 12 hours :d
and the usage if i watch clips on youtube for example it drains very very well and fast it seems that theres somethin not right here cos with the same usage mine m4 aqua which is gone already had better time for usage or for example with browsing all day with z3 plus there is nothing in common about usage ...
could it be because of MM which use and huge amount ot ram and space btw.... will the root and tune help or what :?
this is a very good phone, however, the battery is the real issue, did someone solve the "mystery" behind the ludicrous battery drain? If only I could tweak the LCD so I could reduce the drain I will do that.... any apps that could help us? Thanks again.
information collected from various forums
Read in many forums that is normal that afternoon in charge of 3 to 4 hours 100% by the type of charger since it considered very low for team, also was looking many reviews that when was your date of launch 1 lot of them teams had many problems by the battery by which sony replacement by a new verison of battery , I just bought my xperia m5 day 14/10/16 and so far only have had an error an unexpected reboot only that the battery lasts about 1 day and little more that depends on the use of each user
at fully charged device 100% time remains is 20 hours at Stamina mode ..... otherwise 6 hours remaing :d perhaps theres a problem somewhere
but this is frustrating settings are: gps off,wifi off,sync off,bluetooth off,nfc off,autorefresh wifis off,screen turns off at 15 seconds and its set to low brightness .......
the only thing its turned on that phone is 4g network but and it is limited cos of stamina always on so when screen is off no 4g ...
so what we should do to take nano sim out and to put that phone away or what ....plus another issues when net connections freezes randomly,phone reboots randomly
Ill try several change the adapter and so on factory reset and if nothing alives in that trash i`ll forget sony products for live and the all company too!!!

Mine arrives tomorrow and I really don't want to leave the battery charging for 12 hours before I start playing with it. The quick start guide says that it'll be fully charged after 3 hours - will I degrade the battery if I only charge it for 3 hours the first time?

it is reccomended but not manditory. i'd suggest use it out the box as is just make sure that your initial charge is for 12 hrs. mine came almost fully charged so i was able to have a good play when i got it. when i did charge for the 1st time it was for 12 hrs.
Usually you're supposed to use a device until it's dead or close to it before charging it the first time.

The long duration charge is old recommandation for NI-MH batteries. For the New Li-ion when your phone stops charging, it'is finished because the phone cuts automatically the charge. You can unplug the phone and use it...
If you read scientific articles about battery technologies you will find the following:
- Li-ion is instable charging technology that why inside the battery there is a charge controler
- Never discharge completely the battery. If the internal control circuit is not powered the charge after will destroy the battery. That why generaly your phone power off arround 5 and 10% of charge.
- Half charge is considered as half cycle: if the battery has 1000 cycles = 2000 x 1/2 charge.
- Best storage condition: Half charge after full charge and half discharge. Battery storage doesn't like hot conditions. Fresh and not wet conditions.
My Wizard has more than 4 years and I uses the original battery... the battery life is perfect...
Ps: I have a Sony NW-A808, I changed the battery because the player did not keep the charger (3 day after the full charge It was empty). With the new battery it's the same... I discovered an Hardware/Firmware problem...
Hope you don't mind...
Coming from a Samsung Galaxy s2
Thing i hated about the S2 was not so much the battery drain but the terribly slow charging time, Sorry to mention a fruit phone, but my wifes IP4 would charge almost twice as fast than my S2.
How quick does the ONE X charge?
Does the battery last 7-8 hours with normal usage (tricky to tell, as it depends on what normal I guess)
Does it get really hot?, as the SGS2 did with some games, almost to the point of having to put it down it was so hot
thanks John
Battery Monitor tells.me that the average
0% to 100% time is 4hr 49mins, though it will probably be a little bit quicker than that if you don't count all the times I've been playing with it while charging.
It does seem to take a long time to charge, and you have to remember that the battery is 25% bigger than on the ip4 (1800mAh vs 1420mAh ) so it will probably take 25% longer ish.
It does get warm when charging and gaming simultaneously but not so that you have to put it down.
And battery life is excellent when the screen is mainly off which is my use case. I stream music most if the day and its fine for me, but as soon as you start using the screen it does start to tumble.
Hope that helps. I really love the phone, and the screen is just immense.

i always thought if you use a charger with more amps, the phone will charge faster. i use an 2 amps usb charger and from 20% to 80% it charged within half hour last night, but the phone was off.
the question is, do you prefer touchwiz or htc sense ? i dont like both of them, so i still wait for a great none sense rom.
About charging...
Wall charger, 1Ah output
- 3.5-4 hrs, with the screen off
- add 30% time if you are watching a movie;
- add 45% if using the phone for browsing over 3G or WiFi;
- prepare for slow discharge if playing demanding 3D games;
USB computer output
- 5 to 7 hrs (the less you fiddle with it, the faster it will charge)
About daily usage:
Give or take 10% of these times, of course - based on personal experience
22-24 hrs total time of wich
- 2.5 screen time used for browsing via 3G or WiFi;
- 30 to 50' of talking
- autobrightness always ON,
- autosync off;
You can get over 3.5 hrs of screen time and some 1 hrs of talk time within a span of 15 hrs.
Gaming will bring MASSIVE battery drain, especially 3D games;
Of course, signal strengh is also important when talking or browsing. If you have autobrightness on during the day, in well lit areas it will obviously eat a LOT of battery as opposed to manual low brightness;
These average times I got on both Leedroid 6.1.0 and InsertCoin 6... ROMs using the stock kernel provided. Been testing them for about two weeks.
Cheers

The issue with the battery is that is a Li-Po (Lithium-Polymer-Akkumulator) Battery and for this there is no quick-charge. The charge it´s a bit longer that with a Li-On Battery but the duration is great.
I usually charge it overnight using computer USB, and it will be fully charged in the morning.
If I charge it using charger, it takes about 3-4 hours (1A output).
Battery drains depends on how you use.
Screen drain most battery, internet and games also drain battery.
I used to switch off auto brightness, and turn brightness to 0%, then use Screen Adjuster to auto adjust within that 0%
The average temperature is around 35-40 degree after using it for a while indoor.
If you use it outdoor, it will get hotting up faster.
If it is under sunlight (e.g. taking photo), it is easy to go over 45 degree or even 50!!
It takes 200 minutes (or 3 hours and 20 minutes) to charge my HOX from 0% to 100%. As for getting hot; mine sometimes does but never to the point of having to put it down. Just hotter than it usually is, but nothing unusual really.
Guys, I just bought my LGOG Pro and I've noticed one strange thing. First two or three weeks the phone needed a little more than 2h (2:15, maximum) to fully charge battery (from 5% to 100% most of the times).
Now I'm having to charge it for 3h to fully charge it, in the same conditions. Is anyone having this issue??
How much time is necessary for your LGOG Pro to get fully charged??
Thanks a lot!
Anyone?
2 to 3 hours sounds about right
But why would it change from 2h-2:15 to 3h in these few weeks that I've been using it?

Use a higher capacity charger. I use an iPad 1st gen charger. It charges the phone in an hour.
As for the small time variation in your chage cycles, that happens with android batteries depending upon the state of discharge when charging began and other factors, nothing to worry about.
That's not bad.
I, like you, just got my G Pro and I love it. The first time I charge mine it was 2 1/2 hours to full, but now it is about 3 1/2. I work at a business that serveries Helicopters and I have to take a lot of pictures for projects so I can drain a battery fast, and this is the first phone that can last all day without a quick charge at break and lunch time.
Before buying this phone the huge battery was one of the reasons why I chose this phone. But I'm not impressed at all by the results I'm getting, I am struggling to get a full day from 100% and charge time is about 3-4 hours for 0-100%.
The most screen on time I ever saw without recharging was 7 hours, now it is difficult to get 4-5 even though it takes me about 4 hours to charge it to 100%. My previous phone, xperia sp had a 2400mAh battery and gave similar results on similar usage and charge time was 2x quicker.
I've tried quite a few ROMs to see which gives best battery life(currently on Nexus), they all give similar for me. One friend says after one day of heavy usage on stock,he'd have about 60% left so it can easily last him 2-3 days.
I'd like to know the battery results of other P8000, I've been getting results like this since I got the phone in late August 2015
Maybe try this http://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.playfulgeeks.gservicefix
Mine lasts 24hrs with 8-9 hrs SOT, 48hrs with 6hrs SOT+ but I do not really game on my phone, mainly youtube, Chrome calls and text. My phone used to take ages to charge also but I brought a quick charge usb cable and fully charges in about 3 hours now.
You can install Better Battery Stats from the play store to see if its an app you use thats killing your battery.

Four hours charge time is about right,forget Elephones quick charge ability just phooey.Any way a slow charge is better for the battery.
Partner after a days use phone Facebook and general browsing has over 70% left so no problems with her usage.
Greenify made a big difference to my battery life. But you need to root the phone to use it properly.
Hi there,
I'm looking for a new phone as my Huawei P30 Pro is getting old and out of updates.
The Pixel 6 pro is very interesting and the price for it is quite OK at the moment if you get it from ebay or something.
The only thing that drives me crazy about the phone is the lack of real fast charging. All of the others are charging with 40 or 65 or even 120 Watt at the moment.... and google has only 30 Watts for charging.
Is it really that slow in daily use?
I very often charge my phone which has 40 Watts of charging power for like 10 or 15minutes and that gets me quite good through a day or at least a working day (around 9-10 hours away from home with watching netflix or prime for about 1,5 hours while getting to work and home)) starting from 20 or 30% before charging.
What are your experiences regarding the charging and the battery lifetime??
Thanks for your answers!
I get charging times around one and a half hour to fully charge, basically from zero.
Full charge lasts me for seven hours of screen on time doing simple stuff - browsing, writing emails, reading news. Rarely watching videos and if so, than just for few minutes only.
Charging speed is obviously faster while you are low on battery and gets slower as the battery gets fully charged.
It's and okay phone and while charging could be faster and least it's sparing the battery. Photos and the phone itself is wonderful though.
Situation with bugs is also getting better, with bugs being non-existent for me. Tomorrow is time for a huge March feature drop with lots of additional fixes so check out this forum for more information about how that's going to go.

I've not managed to flatten my Pixel 6 Pro in a day (6am to around 10pm) as of yet no matter how hard i hammer it.
I charge it overnight on a slower charger and with adaptive charging enabled.
