Hi guys.
I'm a huge flashing enthuthiast, like a lot of people here.
I have Desire EYE with KitKat, and every time i was trying to update my phone to newer Android (LP, MM) I get the worst battery life you could imagine.
Also I saw a lot of users here, who was complaining about huge battery drain after flashing new roms (with clean install, factory reset, etc.)
After seaching a lot, I found some info about MRA bug.
You can look about it here. It's present only on 5+ versions of Android.
https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=190396
It happens, when you use mobile network. After that, there is a big chance, that mobile radio module will work, and your app will continue to drain battery.
You can look at MRA time in your app settings. Just compare screen on time and mobile radio active time to know, if this bug affects your device.
I found a possible solution to fix it.
[Update]
Solution #1 [YOU NEED ROOT + XPOSED]
So, in a few words, here is the solution.
1) Install Xposed framework
2) Install MobileRadioActiveFix module and activate it.
Important: Install version 1.1 if you have Lollipop, or 1.2 if you have Marshmallow.
You may have bootloops if you install wrong version!
3) Reboot.
[Update]
Solution #2 [YOU NEED ROOT]
You can install "Mobile Radio Pwn" app.
Here is link to Google Play version (its cheap).
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.androidscout.octobot.mobileradiopwn&hl=en
And also you can dowload free version, attached to this post.
Thanks to authors of these modules - pylerSM and glauberlima.
And their git pages:
https://github.com/pylerSM/MobileRadioActiveFix
https://github.com/glauberlima/MobileRadioActiveFix
Thanks to Octobot, for his Mobile Radio Pwn app.
Here is his thread on OnePlus forums.
https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/apk-octobots-mobile-radio-pwn-v1-3-1-updated-2015-08-09.323219/
Also I want to thank everyone, who shared this info.
P.S. Also I want to say sorry for any mistakes in my English
I had long mra times with my sync-app DAVdroid (more then 5h mra vs few minutes of activity).
I installed the module yesterday and it seems to work for me. DAVdroid gets not shown list at all.
Device: Motorola Moto G 3. Gen (2015)
ROM: cm12.1
thanks
wow this makes a lot of sense. I will try ASAP. Thanks a lot for this tutorial!

@xXminiWHOOPERxX can you please check this out. Maybe this is why our battery life is not as great as in kitkat :S Thanks!
Do I really have to install Xposed Framework in order to use this fix? Is there another possible way to use this fix without it? This fix sounds so glorious.

Every xposed module needs Xposed Framework to run. So you can't use it without Xposed Framework.
But I found another way.
You can try app called "Mobile Radio Pwn" from the Play Store, but be aware - I haven't tried it, so I'm not sure if it works at all.
This app is not free (but it's cheap enought) and it needs ROOT.

I'm actually not sure if it does work, it just toggles the data off when it's connected to wifi and once you lose wifi connection it toggles data on. I usually do that manually anyway and being that I'm on marshmallow and not lollipop, I don't know if it's truly working. My battery did make it through the whole day, from 10am-7pm my battery was at 32% when I got home. I usually have it at 30% by noon with moderate use.
Im going to really monitor my battery and post my usage up tomorrow night.

I think it's okay battery life, but try to count Screen-on-time (you can do that with Gsam battery monitor).
I'm also at Marshmallow, and have simulate results. But I think xposed module really helped me, my SoT is 4-5 hours with more than average usage.

Hi there i have open this thread for the new firmware so we can discuss it.
So far I´m really disappointed with overall rom speed and its lags here and there. Another thing is battery drain by google apps wakelocks.
On screen time is not impresive either. I know it is still early to judge this rom, but this is my opinion from using this rom for more than day.
How are you people happy with this update?

maybe ill just wait the fix for this before I update my ZL , maybe ill stay in 4.3 until they release the fix
So... Basically, it looks great..
But, there's a lag issue... When u pull the notification bar, and on app drawer (can be fix by hard reset)...
I flash c6506 on my c6502 and still looks great !
My score: 8.8/10
Sent from my C6506 using Tapatalk
Some say that it's necessary to reset the phone after the update to fix the screen lag issue, also, try to activate the GPU acceleration.
hmmm.....
i did not face any problem u all mention....weird....
As i told, i'm having a high consumption of memory.
Two album app, two Walkman.apk
Yeah, it's laggy in when scrolling in settings, forcing GPU rendering fixed that. Also it seems to charge much slower than 4.3. I had the same issue (slow charging) when I was on AOSP. Not sure if I will revert yet...

Mine is still laggy....
Already reset, and forcing GPU rendering....
I haven't actually performed a reset - mine was a 101 4.3 upgrade... and I need to try doing a full reset...
I've noticed a lag at times with turning the screen back on... (sometimes it takes longer to turn back on...), I've had issues with the "acore" process crashing... but from what I've read that's likely another application... probably something that would be resolved with a reset/wipe, I've also had issues with spontaneous reboots... and I know yesterday was having it show that I'd been on "battery " for ~ 2 minutes when I'd been at my kid's soccer game for an hour or so and on battery the entire time... could be a bbs issue, could be a wipe issue... I had also experienced lag in some parts of settings...
Most everything else seemed ok... but at this point, I've rolled back to an asop 4.4.2... (I found that I had to roll my baseband back to 101 to have an asop 4.4.2 rom get cellular connectivity again...)

Mine got many many bugs, but the Brazillian rom is known for this kind of bugs such as:
Lockscreen got no wallpaper and get FC all the time
so much battery drain
No bootanimation
very laggy
Mobile data always on status bar, even if i am at Wifi
Didn't see the option to change for ART (idk if it's a bug)
Laggy on some games like DH 4 and Injustice

I think the data icon is normal. it doens't show traffic. try switch between data-wifi to see the change.
but here, those other things works. It's only slow when backing from lock screen to main screen

You need to kill the settings from the task manager after forcing the GPU rendering to make it apply correctly.

You should not disable Motorola OTA and Motorola Services because after that you dont geht OTA Updates.

I tried aero but had reboots like crazy so foe now i'm off.I will install faux kernel, for me its the best.

If your rooted you don't need OTA's.
Maybe you should show us some proof
some more tips
use greenify and ds battery saver app
on ds battery saver keep profile to slumbeerer
by using these two ur battery life will be improved
and also remove unnecessary and unuseful apps
reduce screen time out and use low brightness :silly:
all these will helps in improving battery

Hi All I am Posting my results, I need a few ppl who could help and see if this is going to help everyone or only me
And to the critics, I will be doing a screen on time (SOT, ppl are asking and not getting answered) test, I am as eager to fix this so if you would like me to run anything while the screen is on, please let me know
An hour ago i put brightness at 100 while battery was at 50% been browsing the net with chrome using mobile data and it dropped to about 10%. Much less heat than expected although brightness was limited to 84 at some point. Will do a 50 brightness test tomorrow from full charge but wont be touching the phone much
Steps to Follow to give me info
Hi Guys,
Had a bit of time, this is the info I need, hopefully I will get responses from a view e98x variants, even other LGs would be great but please specify the details of your phone.
Download Battery Doctor from the Play Store google dot com/store/apps/details?id=com.ijinshan.kbatterydoctor_en&hl=en
Get it running , opened, etc and then look at the app usage info (scroll down) for the last 24 hours (seen in screenshot attached)
When opened please send me the screenshot or the the list of draining APPS, I have hidden my top drainer that consumed 98% of my battery in the other attached screenshot. At the time of my screenshot I have not uploaded, it has used 34% of my battery and has been disabed for 19 hours. I cannot yet suggest the name or anyone to do anything with the service yet as I am still attempting to find out what breaks (so far nothing.)
I will send battery updates as far as I can.
Another Test
So the next thing I have done is charge full again, set the brightness to 50% and played Hearthstone for 3 Hours, I am personally pleased with the results as i could not achieve 3 Hours with the Phone before.
i get 3.5-4.5 hours screen from 100%
with [ROM][5.0.2]STOCK LOLLIPOP G.PRO V1.5 of bountyman334
with few modification mostly removing system apps
hello

I would Highly recommend 30 - 60% brightness, anything more seems to not have a major impact on brightness, it just reduces battery life and cause heat, which reduces the maximum charge of the battery in future

Whoa! I downloaded wakelock detector lite now and i see that i can make it work even without root. This wasn't possible an year ago when i tried :victory:
I'm gonna come back with the results! Thank you!!!
I had the same problem with my OP³ running stock OOS 3.2.7 locked bootloader and unrooted. The battery used to drain by 15-20% overnight and also got similar results while using the phone during the day.
Yesterday night i installed google now launcher. The drain came down to just 2% overnight. For the first time i could see "phone idle" in the battery stats instead of android system.
Will use the phone during the day and report back today.
I figured from wakelock detector that the oneplus launcher was keeping the system awake by creating a wakelock for its weather service in shelf even when the option was turned off. Hope this helps you too.

Yeah, i also have Oneplus launcher keeping CPU awake and last night i installed nova launcher. Now the oneplus launcher is not keeping the system awake anymore but in phone's battery stats there is still "Android System" consuming 7% (the most) with "CPU total - 1h 20m" and this process never stops!
I will keep it 1-2 more days to see if something happens and if not, i'm gonna wipe it.

You can try turning off most of the gestures just to try and isolate the problem. Also are you using any of the navigation buttons to turn off screen? Because that turns of the screen but the phone doesnt sleep properly like its locked. Try and let us know about your observation.

I was talking about these option to long press / double press the capacitive buttons. Anyways try using nova / google launcher for a few days and hope it will be fixed in future updates.

Oh! I deactivated those now. Now, with all of those turned off and using Nova launcher, i hope it will improve my battery life in the next days.
I'll give an update tomorrow evening!

The problem persists even though i switched to Nova Launcher. There is still "OnePlus Launcher" in Wakeup triggers (woke up 70 times from 100% to 77%) but on the first place is "Google Play Services" with 88 times until now. Btw, "OnePlus Launcher" is #1 consumer in CPU wakelock.

F*CK IT!!!
Just starting a discussion thread for the SLIM6 ROM from Team SuperLuminal (follow link in TS CM13 thread if you don't know of it). I'm not the creator or maintainer of Slim6, so mods please feel free to take over this thread to post builds, changelogs etc.

Battery life has been soo much better then stock rom kicking it at about 10hrs screen on time maybe more. Currently at 11% but ot should be another 1 hour of sot with my luck.
No greenify or any othet battery saving apps.

Sorry but the power consumption for that usage is pretty low (unless you are streaming or playing music [while screen is off] behind the scene for 5 hours or more =D) so stock ROM can easily surpass that.
Here is a typical medium usage for me...

Stock is awesome for battery life, but I'm curious about how things would be with either Slim or Cm13. On WiFi I'd get even more, but might as well use my unlimited data.
There was a constant wake lock on the 12-31 build. If you're getting 9 hrs screen time, it's likely they fixed it in the latest nightly. Excellent. I read in the other thread about VoLTE in *#*#4636000#*#* toggle. Has that worked for anyone else yet?
Is anyone else getting no touchscreen upon boot?
Deal breaker for me was its lack of color control. Default white balance and color balance is just way far off.

Happened to me on the first boot but after holding the power button and rebooting it seemed to work.
Is everyone else still having the leaving wifi > no LTE issue? I've tried all sorts APN and preferred network settings and it happens much less but still getting it occasionally.
Also still not getting GPS lock on in device only (usually means hardware GPS not working). Funny though, it still works about 95% using turn by turn navigation so maybe GPS is just weak/slow.

Interesting. I'll give that a try. Codes often don't work in dialer after leaving stock, but there's apps on play store that can access the codes.

I did a full wipe before installing and the IR blaster is working great for me on this build! I was not able to get it working on the CM Superluminal build for some reason. Really liking this ROM so far!!
What is the restriction of the issue "selinux permissive mode"? Is it only relevant if you use root? Will the fingerprint unlock work if you have root turned off?
I cant seem to get the it blaster working. I tried peel and sure from the app store. It didn't work for me on the cm13 ROM as well. Attached is my log file when I tried peel. Thanks for another great ROM!

I'm pretty sure I've seen a fix for IR on non stock rims but might have been limited to EUI roms. Have you tried that?

It's weird how the IR blaster functionality seems to vary so much. I was having issues at one point using IR on CM but I ended up doing a clean flash with the Slim build and it's working now. Battery life seems much better on this build over CM also.
I was finally able to get a log dump of the extreme slowdown while disconnecting from Bluetooth. Hope this helps. Thanks!
