This does not seem like a phone/software issue, but more of a carrier issue.
it is also worth noting to make sure that the phone is in fact completely sim unlocked (or else you wont get the correct bands for your radio), although I would not expect you to get service if it was not unlocked.
I am not sure if there is a different radio file for the GSM version of the device.
Anyone else have knowledge on the radio files?
Ive posted screenshots of my apn an connection thru signal checker. I know some phones are one lte 4g all day. I would love to figure this out. I am unrooted with no mods at all.

Tmobile uses 3 LTE Bands.
1900 - Phone supports it
1700 - NO PHONE SUPPORT
700 - Phone supports it
it is very possible that the area you are in is mostly 1700, and the phone is hopping around to find a strong signal.
~~~~~
Actually, from this page,
http://www.phonearena.com/news/Chea...on-T-Mobile-and-Sprint-use-in-the-USA_id77933
It shows that the 1700 band is one of tmobile's primary LTE Bands
Yes i saw that as well. But is there a way set band priorty or change the priorty settings??
Sent from my SM-G920P using XDA-Developers mobile app
That is a good question, which I do not know the answer to. I would imagine that the settings for that are in the carrier settings, which get downloaded when your phone connects to their network.
as for changing that, your guess is as good as mine
all att phones got this menu disabled.
You won't have this option available unless you carrier unlock your phone. They're available on ebay for like $3. I had mine unlocked pretty much immediately after it arrived.
ATT Atrix 4G on T-Mobile UK was also showing WCDMA. Just another label for UMTS.
Is unlocking the phone as simple as entering a code? And is it reversible (if ever necessary)?
NCK unlocking is completely legal, permanent, doesn't void your warranty, and you're not hacking your device in any way. You don't need to worry about reversing it. It is as simple as entering a code
But it's also unnecessary unless you plan on switching carriers or traveling overseas and popping in a new SIM.
Unlocking a phone is NOT reversible. Its ONLY for putting another sim card from another carrier in ur phone to use it on another network. And using a AT&T sim card Its still just greyed out. I have to use my Orange UK sim to be able to do a network search.. And that UK sim lets me use 3G data on AT&T`s network
Like above u can see I was running on the T-Mobile Network as well
Thanks for the info guys. I guess I won't worry about unlocking it unless I plan to sell it.
To the op. You happen to get 4g on T-Mobile? Also does your tmobile simcard crash on the nitro? Happens a bit to me
It just has a 4G logo, but i saw a video of someone else that had a 4G logo with LTE over it. Am i on lte? The closest lte city (on the at&t coverage map) is out of state for me, so i was unsure if i was on lte or not. The best speeds i've seen so far are 9500kbps down / 1200kbps up.
The reason i'm asking is because i think i found a way to disable lte and force hspa+ connection. I created a new APN and entered the details i found online. When i switch to this alternate APN, the 4G logo is the same, but my speeds are different (5000 kbps down instead of a consistent 9000+). When i switch back to the default APN my speed goes back up to 9000+.
Will using this alternate APN which yields slower data speed save battery for me?
Thought so. Will using the other APN save battery then? since it yields slower speeds?
I just hopped on the Note 2 wagon from a GS2. It's been only 2 days, but love it so far. Only problem, I can't seem to be able to acces LTE even though i'm in an urban area where LTE is available. Coverage is good here with Bell Canada. I know with my GS2 i was able to go in the Band Selection Service Menu, to choose the band i wanted to use. Is there such menu with the I317M? Or is there another way to select LTE?
Thanks!
No toggle to turn it on or off as far as I know. Does LTE work in other locations?
Moved around the city with no luck only H+.
Are you using an LTE micro SIM with the Note2?
I worked as a cellphone dealer, you must be on an LTE data plan with a LTE sim card to receive LTE. Call bell to verify you have an lte capable sim card and are on an lte plan.
I suspect than my current micro sim is not but before going back to the store i wanted to try everything.
As long as you're on a postpaid plan with at least 500 MB of data /month, you are eligible for LTE with an LTE capable phone and micro SIM. Bell's LTE micro SIM card is labeled "LTE".
Thank, I just got off the phone with Technical Services and they came to the comclusion that my sim is not LTE compatible. Thanks for the picture, it confirms also that it is not. My micro sim does not mention LTE on it. So I'll go to the store where I bought it at lunch and ask them to replace it.
Thanks!
Yes, i'm stock. The only thing I did was to root it with ChainFire's Exynos Exploit app.
Another thing to check is to make your APN is set up correctly for Lte. Hope you get the problem fixed!
I went to Bell Store at lunch. Exchanged my microSIM for another one with the mention of LTE on it. Now, my phone can receive and transmit in LTE with no problem.
Thanks everyone.
After reading through this thread I too swapped out an old SIM for a new one. But my problem was calls dropping or going straight to voicemail and lte not working in areas but my husbands would work. Got the new SIM card yesterday haven't missed a call, connecting to lte is fast and steady and a bonus is my phone seems to be a little more snappier then b4 like when closing and opening apps or watching youtube videos. Thanks OP for making this tread or else I might not have figured out what was wrong with my phone.
I have the H815 on Cricket and get data + voice at the same time.
Cricket is a MVNO of AT&T.
I have the original radio and just the basic APN for cricket.
Seems to me that if it works for AT&T/Cricket it should work on T-mobile with the right APN. (I could be wrong)
Hello
May I ask what version of software do you have on your H815 LG G4 device?
Mine is TWN version (V20c-TWN-xx) and I do not have volte and wifi calling option in call memu.
I am wondering if it is due to H815 firmware variant or carriers currently that I am with.
Thank you
The H815 TWN doesn't have VoLTE, it is only CSFB (circuit switched fallback) i.e. it cannot place calls over LTE, it falls back to HSPA to place calls. During calls data should still connect but at 3G speeds.
I know this issue has been mentioned but I cannot find an actual answer anywhere. Really love this phone but the bad reception is killing me. I am on AT&T in the US. The phone reflects I get 4g and LTE no problem. But the consistency of the signal is spotty and often throw very weak signal strength. I attached an imagine showing it. Does anybody have any ideas or solutions for this? I have tried 3.2/3 and I am on 3.5 which all have had the same issue. Call quality isn't too bad but data and signal is awful.
I live in an area with ****ty coverage from all carriers. My OP2 would pull 1-2 bars all over the house from AT&T but my OP3 regularaly goes No Signal or Emergency Calls Only while I'm at home.
It also happens sometimes when I'm out and about (I'll take phone out of pocket and it will be emergency only for a few seconds before popping back to AT&T)
I've tried disabling my second SIM (T-Mo voice, no data) and it doesn't seem to affect things either way.
I'm on att and my signal is sporadic. I'll have signal one minute, and none the next. Then I'll get one bar. It's weird. I've read the 3.12 radio helps this but I can't find a zip to test.
