Hi I have a Rii bluetooth keyboard which works great for everything but I cannot find a key or comination for the 3bar (menu) as fire tv remote. Has anyone got the answer if there is one?
The C key works fine for context menu in Kodi so its only when menu for app is required and it would then be a stand alone backup remote.

Worked it out if anyones interested---------------- control + escape
pleased with myself now

What is the best way to get mouse control on a AFTV? A few apps need a mouse. My AFTV is wired, so the apps on my mobile don't seem to work. Thanks.
Logitech Wireless Touch Keyboard K400 avail on Amazon.
I considered the Logitech, but am now Thinking something smaller (mini keyboard)
I have a Logitech K700 for the GoogleTV. It works wonderfully, even in CWM.
I just bought a MeLe F10 Deluxe combo remote/keyboard/air-mouse and it's pretty fantastic. I had to do a bit of .kl editing to remap the home button to work, so root came in handy, but other than that the thing is great. I was able to program in all of the important buttons from my TV's IR remote so I was able to ditch that remote entirely. It even surprisingly works in CWM and Rbox's boot loader. Well worth $30.
I got an IPazzPort KP-810-16 5-in-1 (air mouse, back-lighted mini keyboard, learning IR remote). It works so well that I am considering buying their Bluetooth version (for my other FTV) so I don't have to plug a RF dongle in the USB of the FTV
How is the Mouse Controls with the MeLe F10 Deluxe Combo, is it done by moving the remote around in the air?
The IPazzPort KP-810 looks good and small. Is the keyboard not to small to use and hows the mouse control?

Yes, it's motion controlled like a wiimote. Right above the directional pad is the button for left mouse click. You click that button when you want to turn mouse mode on (which also turns the back button into right click), and then when you want to turn it off you can just press any of the directions on the D-pad. It works great if you only need a mouse here or there for navigating certain apps, but I wouldn't exactly try to play games with it. That said, my LG TV came with an airmouse remote when I bought it, and the airmouse on this is so much smoother and useable than that remote that it's not even funny. It works surprisingly well.
What about the Lenovo N5902, as anyone tried it with the Fire TV?
I have a mini bluetooth keyboard with touch screen and mouse button that I got from Amazon. It works well. It is a QQ-Tech model lS11-BT05. I first side loaded the settings app and used it to find the keyboard.
I've tried several wireless keyboard/pads (not all with the Fire TV). Though not perfect, the K400 is the best of the lot.

Keyboard is not too small, I think the size is good. I tried other wireless keyboard, either key presses are not registered or key presses got repeated. Those issues don't happen with the IPazzPort and that's why I said it is good. Air mouse control is good too, easy to use
Logitech k400 works great. Best choice imo.

Agreed, I have tried many also, k400 is the best, however, I also own
an old logitech revue, the keyboard for it is a k700 keyboard. It is the mac daddy of them all. it has directional and enter keys below the touchpad.
Here is a link to a picture of it. note the directional arrows below the touchpad. much nicer I am only posting this link so you can see a picture of what it is I'm refering to. not for sale or purchase reasons.

I retired my logitech revue after getting my aftv. Since the keyboard does not come with a usb dongle I just used a regular logitech usb nano receiver and used the software from logitech to link the two in windows. I then connected the nano reciever to the aftv where it is "The Best" keyboard in my opinion. If you don't have a dongle then just buy a logitech mouse at the store or order the nano receiver for $12 off amazon.
before you nay say me you better own own one. lol
I own several Logitech Revues. The keyboard is great. I thought it was IR, not Rf but I could be wrong. Good to know I will be able to reuse it. Do they sell them standalone and with bluetooth?

no bluetooth that i"m aware just wireless with usb nano receiver compatible. A logitech nano receiver can allow up to 8 logitech unity compatible devices. you just have to have your own and program it with the logitech unity software.

I wish I had more of these keyboards.
Sumvision Paradox Touch
Using one of these . nice keyboard with touch panel. The media keys also work (most) which is nice as the play button is enter. I don't usually like touchpads but in thus situation it's fine. I also have a generic. Acer branded off of my revo tested and working.
The Sum vision is Samsung compatible for your info. P
UPDATE just checked media buttons . all work in xbmc including volume. Stop play etc in youtube and the Home button most everywhere. I also would let you know it trips into standby quite quickly to save battery a quick press on connect wakes it up

Can one load a web browser on the FireTV if its rooted etc?
I'd be curious in getting a wireless keyboard/mouse combo.. But I'd also like to be able to use it as a web browser type of device?
Yes, I have chrome sideloaded on my AFS which is not rooted. Works well with a mini keyboard mouse TouchPad combo.

So what keyboard/mouse combo you have?
Is there a possible way to edit mappings when you have a keyboard connected to the FireTV?
I have a Logitech K400 and I use it to browse Chrome in the FireTV. The problem is that there doesn't seem to have a "Back" button in they keyboard to go back to previous webpages. The Backspace key doesn't do anything, neither does the Esc. I'd have to use the FTV remote to go back.

Yes, but you need root. This guide is not specifically for Fire TV, but I have used it to change some mapping on one of my remotes.

Hi,
I tried plugging in a wired, USB mouse in the back of my Fire TV Box... I get nothing on screen. I tried a second mouse.. same result. Does the Fire Tv NOT support a mouse? I searched around online and found conflicting info. The only reason I wanted to use the mouse is to click the big "Start Test" button at the center of the screen in the Speedtest.net app I sideloaded... It can't be reached via the remote.
Thanks!
.
Well u can look for aft general tread download download an apk call wukong remote launch the app, it will search for aft in address that's what working for me
My firetv recognized my mouse with no special settings. I just plugged the mouse directly into the USB slot... same for a USB keyboard.
Mouse = old Gateway mouse
Keyboard = cheap Dynex
Did you happen to be on the default launcher when you tried? Since the last three updates the mouse cursor is invisible on the Fire TV launcher, when system menus are on the screen and inside some native Fire TV apps. I don't think the cursor being invisible effects everyone, cause only a few people said they experience the problem when I made a thread about it.It only happens if I use a USB or Bluetooth mouse, but if I use a remote mouse app like Wukong the cursor is visible on the whole system. Try opening an app that was not made for the Fire TV, like Kodi and see if it works, cause my cursor is visible inside all my apps, but if I go to the Fire Launcher it becomes invisible. Its kind of annoying not being able to see the cursor on Fire TV apps, but I have gotten used to it.
To be clear, the mouse still works its just invisible, so its kinda useless because you can't click on system menus, cause you cannot see where the cursor is. As soon as you open an app like Kodi the cursor will reappear.
Thnks everyone for the replies. I had USB debugging turned on in the developer options which knocked out my mouse. Everything is working now.
anyone know the centre button for amazon remote does not work as a select option
so i cant use some apps i.e. spotify
this is the wifi remote, which is bit temperamental to be honest
anyone know how to adjust the keymapping of buttons
thanks
I tried to remap the forward and backwards buttons from the fire tv remote as long press volume buttons.
They worked with xposed and xposed additions but after that the shield controller didn't work on games, just the directional and android buttons worked.
It was such a bummer because xposed additions could be a nice tool to get more functionality out of remotes but there seems to be some bugs.
same prob here, fire tv 2 remote, ok button dont work in some apps.
like amazon video.
is there any solution for that.
cheers Martin
Is there anything new on this?
I downloaded an app called Button Mapper that allows you to remap basically every button on your remote or controller.
Sadly though, while it actually lets you remap the 'select' button on the Fire TV remote, it does not have an option to remap it to 'Enter'. You can change it to other actions like home, back, volume up/down, mute, play/pause, next, previous, power dialog, turn screen off, etc.
I don't know why 'Select' or 'Enter' isn't an option though. Such a shame. I thought for sure this was going to be the solution to this issue.
I was able to remap the FF and RW buttons though. I don't use those buttons really, so I remapped them to control the system volume UP and DOWN. Works great for that at least

Not tried it with the FTV remote but has worked a treat for all my other remotes i have used.
Side load this Multilanguage Keymap Redefiner https://play.google.com/store/apps/...eyboard.multilanguagekeymapredefiner&hl=en_GB
This should be fixed I think in the Oreo update. The remotes should now correctly send the DPAD_CENTER command when pressing select on the remote. I know it was fixed with the Alexa Voice Remote (Fire TV 2nd gen i think?).
Voice button is still crap as it rarely works properly (activates the assistant but doesn't record voice) .
Hi,
I just got a Fire TV Cube 2nd generation and I was trying to pair it with a game controller to use Steam Link, Shadow and Geforce Now. I've been able to pair both a Xbox One and a PS4 controllers via bluetooth but both end up having the same problem; the home button doesn't work as expected and the start button doesn't work at all.
With the Xbox One controller the home button takes you back to the Fire TV launcher while the start button doesn't do anything. The select button seem to do what the home button should do as by pressing it the Steam overlay pops up but it takes it quite many seconds to realise I have pressed it.
So apparently Amazon has dropped support for game controllers, even theirs, but I don't get how the option is still available, controllers can be paired but then there is no way to configure them to fix these issues.
Does anyone know if there is any way to fix this problem?
Thanks.

You can use button mapper app.
