Got my S3, have some questions

alright, so my S3 is stock Rooted. Which means I have a stock ROM (LG8) and I rooted using ODIN. Basically i wanted to remove the Bloat crap that's on it so I don't keep having to run the task manager every hour to kill 56 applications that I didn't even run. So what I'm looking for is a stock ROM with ROOT that has absolutely zero bloatware. Does anyone know of one? I downloaded and flashed JellyBomb and my S3 hated it. FC, multiple installs of the apps, youtube crashed every 2 minutes and I didn't even load it.
My stock phone has recently started to lock up and FC on touchwiz now. So does anyone know how to remove the crap that I do not use? I use, Text, Voice, Chrome browser, Facebook, and the play store for games for my son. No dropbox or TALK or flipbook or any of that other useless ****. Hell I don't even use widgets as they just take up real estate on my homescreen. On my OG EVO, i just renamed the .APK in the app folder and restarted. That didn't work on this phone.
I also didn't realize I had to do some stuff with Google Wallet before flashing, when I loaded my Nandroid, my Google wallet had none of my info in it at all.

I would try team sonics freegs3. Its still a TW based ROM but during install you can choose what apps to install and the battery life is great. Another option is a cm ROM. Those are aosp so no bloat ware. As far as the Google wallet goes you are suppose to reset g wallet before you flash other wise it might be permanently damaged. I may be wrong on that subject though. That is just what I hear since I don't use it.
Good luck and make sure if you do flash wipe dalvik cache, regular cache, and factory reset.

Try out FreeGS3, it's one of the most stable and great battery life. It has Aroma installer that'll guide you through the ROM installation and from there you choose which bloat apps you want installed if any. The dev also move some apps from to /system/apps, or something, that makes them uninstalable from Application Manager.
Before you install FreeGS3 you need to flash TWRP, download GooManager from the market, grant it SU and tap menu then "Install OpenRecoveryScript". Let it do it's thing... you can uninstall the app afterwards.
If there are other app you don't want or need that are included you can use Titanium Backup, found in Play Store, to uninstall the apps. Do not uninstall those apps that are highlighted in red, except Kies that can go, since these are system app and can cause problems with the phone.
Also, killing apps in task manager is not necessary since ICS (and GB as well) kill those apps that are idle or not being used to save on RAM. you could be doing more harm to the battery life than well, I never kill an app or "free memory" and all good with an average of 18hrs of battery.

I'm at work now and don't have the time to do this right now but I'm downloading the ROM, and already have flashed TWRP. I will mess around with it tonight and see what I can do.

Good suggestions in the previous replies.....also might keep in mind that if for some reason you can't find a custom rom you like could always just go back to stock rooted and use Titanium or Rom Toolbox to freeze or remove any bloatware you don't want that may be taking up resources. Always good to freeze something first before removing just to make sure everything works the way you want. I usually make a backup of all apps after rooting a phone just so I can restore it later if ever need to.
Also, if you look around on the forum I believe there is a way to try and restore Google Wallet that has been successful for peeps that did the same as you.

[Q] titanium pro question

hi guys just a quick question i have titanium pro and im going to remove a few apks from the system now my question is i know if i remove them and install a update to the rom it installes everything back on but if i freeze the apks instead when i flash a update to the rom will they remain frozen or will i have to freeze them again :silly:
also is freezing them just as affective as uninstalling them (freeing memory ect)

You shouldn't really uninstall any apps. The system Partition has over 700 megabytes of free space, and if you free that space you to won't be able to use it for anything (like saving pictures).
If you freeze the apps you'll get the same advantage as removing them: the won't be available on the launcher and won't autostart. And if anything bad happens you can just unfreeze the apps instead of having to install the entire rom again.
So, the answer is: just freeze the apps.

ya im not uninstalling/freezing apps for more space just annoying when have say 5 to 6 system apps which i dont use or want :crying:
so its best to freeze and still have all the benifits of uninstalling (like the services stop ect)

also do you know that if i flash new version of rom that it unfreezes apps or do they stay frozen

If you flash new ROM with Kies/Odin it will be replaced by newr one and so you have to freeze it again.
In case of OTA (Though doubtful you may get on rooted devce), it will remain as it is OR may be replace if OTA will have update for that application.

thanks well im on omega rom so just update through cwm as usual shouldnt unfreeze apps? i know they reinstall everytime :silly:

Freezing is not only about free space.
It also means that some bloat which can cause load and slow down the phone is removed.
I think a combo of filters and label might help.

What apps (rom stock 4.4.2) i could freeze on start to better performance ?

Please, I'm a little unsure to install TWRP because I'm on android 4.4.2 (with root) but I'm seeing several people with problems after installing.
So I ask (for those who understand the subject): I will stay with the Stock ROM for now, could show me which apps I can freeze on start, and improve system performance?

Get one of the Root Uninstallers and *don't* uninstall any green icon app if your not sure of what it does. Also try and not completely uninstall - but put the apps you discard in the trash so you 'can' retrieve them. In other words - say your not going to be editing movies, uninstall it to the trash, etc. That's one way.

So im new to all this. My last "smart" phone was pretty basic and couldnt do much. I went through the root process thinking I would like it, but so far it seems like I wasted my time. I thought I would be able to uninstall useless apps and install apps right to the SD card. So far neither have worked. I was wondering if anyone could help and explain in plain simple english what I may be doing wrong or is this phone basically useless to root and just have to live with it as is? I tried titanium backup - all that did was take up almost all my remaining phone space, change my keyboard and switch my wallpaper back to default. I tried System app remover to remove unwanted bloatware - no change. I tried ROM toolbox lite to install apps to SD, I checked that box in the app for it to do this- downloaded an app to see if it worked and nope. So any suggestions on anything useful root does for this phone? So far it seems like i wasted my time on this.

Heya Andy, welcome. you have a great phone there, and It just needs a little patience.
-you can remove any unwanted system app using whatever Root Explorer/manager you Wish, including ES file explorer!
-you can install/move apps to SD. the best way to do that would be Link2SD. you'll need to look around and read to get acquainted with it, but it's a great little app and it will let you install hundreds of apps, all on SD.
-to make the best use of your Root, you should install this or something similar.
-One of the best things you can do with root, is to install Xposed framework and use modules to customize your phone. some of my favorites are: Sense6 Toolbox, App Ops, Network speed indicator, Xsense, Bootmanager,,,. they give you great control on many aspects of the phone and add some very useful functionality.

A debloater for OnePlus 5 (really any OxygenOS, but I only have OP5 now). Allows for removal of a lot of pre-installed apps. All apps are user selected. Can trim down and remove unused apps.

I tried it with new OOS 4.57 and did not delete any Gapp
For system apps related to Oneplus like logskit and so on, it was ok and working like a charm.

Interesting comment as my long time debloat app System app remover (ROOT) wasn't able to remove Gapps apps (Google Music, Google Movie/TV) either. I'm trying to make /system room for installing V4ARISE but after this latest OTA there is not enough /system space left.
In fact that's why I'm looking at this debloat method. I wonder if the issue you observed is why the app I'd previously used no longer works. Unless I find something better I'll likely try Titanium Backup's uninstall method but I was looking for a way to batch clean up which I suspect would need to get done after every OTA.
EDIT: Using Titanium Backup to backup then uninstall worked. I removed Duo (~20Mg) to recovery the space I needed.

I am using also Titanium Backup for Gapps but freezing them rather than un-install.
Today, I tried deeper aroma script and I can uninstall every bloatware less Gapps (Chrome, Gmail,...)
