Normally many methods to get root-rights break the Samsung screen-mirroring. The same for the Note and until now only for 4.3 exists a fix. With KitKat we have to choose: root or screen-mirroring.
But there is a work-around which works for me:
- after you got your root-rights flash the stock recovery back via Odin (make a backup of your data before - like always).
PS. The explanation is that a custom-recovery and not the changes for root-right breaks the screen-mirroring.
PPS. I still try to patch the corresponding library.
PPPS. I attached the recovery from MJ4 and still busy to build a zip for ND1. But the old from MJ4 also works.

Thanks - will this fix (and recovery) work with either the COO or US 4.4 updates?
With regards to the recovery - you mentioned the other option is to back up / restore the recovery ourselves. So I'd backup the current 4.4 recovery (i'll google the procedure) and just restore it after per your instructions?
Thx,
Praz

Oops, here I was not clear. No, the only method until now (for KitKat) is to restore a stock recovery. The backup I mentioned was about your data because every flash includes the possibility of losing the data.

Hey Elim - thanks for the explanation. Right now I'm trying piece together the process to root and then restore screen mirroring functionality. It sounds like I need to install TWRP recovery for the root process. Then when I'm done, I'd flash the stock recovery back.
Could you clarify the process here? Do I extract the stock recovery.img from the US kitkat image, zip it and flash it within TWRP recovery?
EDIT: I think I'm good. I used a script to convert the recovery.img to a tar.md5 file. After rooting and installing SuperSU, installed the kitkat stock recovery. Will try screen mirroring once I get home
THANKS. ... got mine working again with your instructions!

Thanks for your tip!
Unfortunately for me with xkat v3.2.1 this does not seem to work...
any ideas?
Made this from the new 80220D open EUR kdz.
This is the complete LG KK 20D ROM - nothing missing or messed with.
If you follow the method below exactly, no Audio glitches, no Touchscreen problems.
You can flash SuperSU and get root if you wish - your choice.
I provide this assuming you have an understanding of the terminology used below and appreciate that any flashing activity has some risk.
I strongly advise against using any form of restore from previous backups, such as TB or Nandroid.
Once the process is complete, custom recovery will be lost.
Method:
Download both the ROM zip file linked below and SuperSU zip file (if you want root) and copy to your SD card.
You need to be already on Rooted JB or PURE CM11 with either TWRP 2.6.3.3 or 2.6.3.4 or TWRP 2.7.0.0 (nothing else).
Reboot to TWRP recovery
Wipe: System, Data, Cache. Dalvik (nothing else)
Flash the ROM zip - ignore any "FAIL" warnings.
Wipe Cache and Dalvik (nothing else)
Go to the Mount page in TWRP and select System (leave the other defaults alone)
Flash the SuperSU zip - ignore any "FAIL" warnings
Reboot
Done
Don't use AutoRec to flash TWRP - you will lose Knock code.
Alternatively - if you have flashed TWRP on another KK Stock ROM (using AutoRec), you can full wipe (not SDCard) and flash this directly without going back to JB.
Download from here:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_ESvfVtZzEwR0dCNEcteVRfcVU/edit?usp=sharing
You can simply flash this kernel that support knock code, after you got TWRP with autorec.

Hmmm....is that based entirely on the same KK kernel I include though?
This ROM is PURE STOCK as I state in the OP, for those who want that PURE STOCK experience.
so im kk based 20A, rooted and TWRP using Auto Rec. If i intall this via TWRP will i lose TWRP after install??
Will this delte my recovery and put back stock recovery??
TIA
I think that after twrp install from autorec, if you install the kernel of this rom again, you will have knock code again. I will try and let you know soon . Thanks for this rom.
Can someone provide zippyshare link for example? I'm getting crapy download speed from Google drive. I'm downloading using hsdpa unfortunately, because I don't have an access to WiFi right now.

Install without wiping data
Hi.
I have the 80220C from LenAsh.
I would like to have the new version 80220D, but without the hasle of installing and configuring all my apps again.
Should it not be sufficient to just wipe system and dalvik? No need to wipe data right?
I'd wipe data too. You can use an app like Rom Toolbox for examples to backup your downloaded apps. Then reinstall it after flashing this ROM and Root. Then just restore whatever apps you want back. You can choose from Restoring; App Only, App + Data, Data Only. Pretty handy if you ask me. That's what I did and no problems restoring data so far :good:
And a big thanks to @LenAsh for providing this zip. Knock Code works wonders and I like the stock experience, no need for custom recovery here.

Just my opinion, I think this rom should be a recommended way or just an alternative for people who came from stock jb with custom recovery installed.
Since ota was impossible for them & kdz/tot methods not as easy (at least for me compared to odin/heimdall for samsung) to use. Install this rom + super su, then go to autorec thread before installing any kk based custom roms much saver than only installing baseband alone.
With this rom, imo all partitions will updated to kk, while installing baseband will left more partitions stay left with jb stuffs
At the moment I'm using Slimkat with the sources from 4.4.2, If I want to go Stock again I can flash this?
I ask because in the first post it says only pure CM11 or rooted JB and I think I have to send my G2 to warranty....

Afaik, you should flash the rom from your own region
As I mentioned before, seems this method will be an easier way than kdz/tot if we already on custom rom & recovery
It will be great if there's another regions to choose ?

Hello again
Latest firmware with Lollipop 5.1.1. is here and i make also a flashable zip for Xperia Z1 (C6903), and so far is been released in just few countries. I make it pre rooted as by my side once you have a pre rooted firmware you can be able to manage and delete apps what you don`t need to free space in your mobile.
What do you need:
- Flashable zip
- Mobile phone Xperia Z1 (C6903) - with CWM/TWRP to can flash the zip
- USB Cable (make sure your battery is over 75%)
- Attention and patience
The procedure to flash the zip is the same like in other threads (copy the zip to your external SD Card and from there reboot your phone to CWM/TWRP and select - install zip)
STEPS TO UPDATE FROM ORIGINAL 5.0.2 Lollipop
1 - Download the .zip from the link bellow in Download section
2 - Copy the .zip to your External Memory (SD Card)
3 - Reboot the phone in Dualrecovery (CWM/TWRP/Philz)
4 - Select INSTALL, then
4 - Navigate to SD Card (external memory/sdcard1) and select the .zip you copied on step 2
5 - Confirm to flash the .zip
6 - When it says FINISHED and if all goes without errors select BACK then Reboot System
7 - Wait patiently for Android to Update and to boot up, the first reboot is longer than a normal one (around 5 minutes)
If you have no root access and not dual recovery and you are running Android 5.0.2 you must follow this steps:
1 - Downgrate to original firmare .108 (see below the Downgrate section)
2 - ROOT and INSTALL DUALRECOVERY
3 - Then follow the same steps as i wrote above to Update
The content of zip is
- firmware C6903_14.6.A.1.216_Customized CE [Central Europe] (i found with XperiFirm on thread wrote by @IaguCool so of course credits go to him)
- UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46 credits go to @Chainfire
- LATEST Z1-lockeddualrecovery2.8.22-RELEASE.flashable credits to @[NUT]
I used PRF Creator to make this zip flashable, credits go to @zxz0O0

If you have done before flash with dual recovery you may skip the last link, but if it is your first time when you try to do this i highly recommend you to read before each thread including the one on last link.

Changelog
Sony Xperia Android 5.0.2 14.5.A.0.270

– Added a Sony feature; bringing back the “close-all-button” in the activity menu, so you can easily close all apps at once
– Unblocked devices with server policies (such as Exchange Active Sync for e-mail), to enable the new Lollipop lock-screen notifications
– Ensured the LED light is lit across all sound modes – and no longer offset by “silent”
– Made the necessary fixes to enable the easy movement of content from internal memory to external microSD card (something we saw affecting a few devices)
– Improved messaging functionality in Ultra stamina mode – some conversations could not be opened before in Ultra stamina mode

No fear to flash as it is, just boot to dual recovery , select the zip where you copy it and flash it, then reboot the phone, just be patient the first boot time will be longer than normal. Yesterday before i upload the link i try the zip on my phone and i did not wipe anything, i was on 14.5 A.0.283 (lollipop 5.0.2). Once the reboot was done i have all the settings, messages, contacts was untouched .
Good luck!

Flashed the non-Rooted FTF in flashtool, so running 5.1.1 unrooted. Can't root via flashtool as it always fails, how do you install a custom recovery when running 5.1.1 so I can install the pre-rooted version?
Will I need to downgrade then install dual recovery then flash the rooted Zip from there?

well in 5.1.1. you cannot get root access, you should go back to 108, root and install dual recovery, and after that flash the zip here

I have installed the TWRP and just wanted to update to Android 6. The problem is, that once the download finishes and the phone reboots, it puts me in the TWRP instead of installing the update. How do I proceed to update my phone to Android 6?
You want to install OTA on TWRP? Not gonna work, find your software number(4.xx.xx.xx) in Settings/about. Then flash stock recovery(numbers must match with software number) and try to apply OTA. You might need clean stock(non-rooted) rom.
I checked my version and it says 4.16.401.13, so I downloaded the stock+recovery+4.16.401.13_M8 and flashed it via adb using "fastboot flash recovery img". When I wanted to install the OTA I got into the recovery and got this: http://imgur.com/FpVk5Sg
Afaik I have the official ROM and just got root access for a few apps back in the days

Yep, but you can always backup apps(+data of apps) with titanium backup pro and restore later.

You haven't posted enough information. Posting that you have the "same problem" isn't helpful, and usually leaves us lacking the specific information needed to help you at all.
Do fastboot getvar all, and post the output (delete IMEI and serial number).
Also, is Bootloader is unlocked?

What version TWRP?
Hello,
I flashed a stock rom for my zenfone 2 Z00A without any problem but because I have installed TWRP on my phone to test out cm12.1 and cm13 I can no longer do the OTA as they come in. I have searched through the forums and have tried to edit the OTA file as described but it always errors and won't install. I did a backup when I first installed TWRP, if I use that recovery file will it bring back my phone to stock or will I still have TWRP? If i will is there a way to remove TWRP and go back to the stock recovery so I can install the OTA's the normal way?
Thank you,
David

Hi David. Can you supply the link to the stock rom that you used and the recovery image please?Did you flash anything else besides these two?
Hello,
What I did was;
1) download the latest full firmware from this site http://www.asus-znfone.com/2016/01/full-firmware-zenfone-2-ze551ml-V2.20.40.160.html and installed it using twrp as I would any custom rom.
2) After I went through all the set up I was alerted to a system update. Before I did the update I replaced TWRP with the restore.img from this link
https://mega.nz/#F!k4MHiAgL!dVuOKeH3eokcwPSNI79ffw!Z1N1EbKa using fastboot flash recovery recovery.img command.
3) After rebooting it is possible to do all the OTA updates.
Hope this helps. David Waldie
