Anker Powerbank issue - Nexus 5X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have the Anker Powerbank IQ 13000mAh and it has been my solid and trustworthy companion for almost two years. However if I try to charge my Nexus 5x (I do have a recommended usb c to a cable) with it,it charges just for a split second and then turns off only to switch on a second later. Charging the Nexus 5x is impossible with it. All my other devices charge perfectly fine. Does anyone experience the same problem? Is there a fix?

Nexus 7 Doesn't Work With Third Party Chargers?

For some reason my new nexus 7 only works with the oem charger not my Galaxy S4 charger or other chargers. Anyone else have these issues?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
Make sure it's the correct voltage and amperage. The oem charger spits out something like 1.3A. A lot of usb phone chargers output less than 1a

my S4 charger works
S2 charger works also.
As does the S3 and N7 Gen1.
So long as it's 1A or greater it'll work at about the same charge rate (1A = slower, and anything over 1.35A won't charge much faster).
I invested in this a while back...best charger I own....

I tried it on my Anker portable battery and it charged fine

It didn't work on a charger I had that had a "special" cable that only provided power and ground. When I used a normal USB cable, it worked fine, so it apparently wan't to see something more than just an open connection on the data lines before it will charge.
Its worked on any charger I threw at it including the iPad charger with a HTC cable. Wireless charging also works great with the Nokia one.

Works fine with my BB Playbook charger.

Anyone tried using the Apple 12W 2.4 apm charger?
Is it ok to use more powerful charger than the one it ships with?
More capacity charger won't be a "problem" as the device determines how much power to pull. Lesser capacity charges can sometimes overheat if not designed well.
Often devices capable of charging faster will only go into that mode if they detect the charger is capable of doing so. Since the way they determine this is not standardized, sometime high capacity charger charge slowly. This could be caused by something on the charger side, or even the cable being used.
Worse case of using a higher capacity charger is it won't charge at all, but that is pretty rare. Often it will charge, either at a slow or fast rate.

[Q] Nexus 5 ruining Micro USB Cables?

I'm not sure if it's just me or that I'm just buying cheap cables but my Nexus 5 basically eats Micro USB Cables in terms of a loose connection between the connector and port. My 2 Amp Blackberry charger only lasted about 2 months (I was recommended by someone who says it was the fastest charger for Nexus 5) and now only works when at a slight angle. I just bought a JuiceBitz Premium Cable (Can't post links but Amazon has them) and within two weeks just destroyed the connector. I never had this problem with any other phone, just wondered if it's a Nexus 5 problem...
I've had the exact same issue.
Same problem here.
Its been almost one and half year for me using the stock usb cable. It still works fine for me, no issue at all. But in last few months, i am feeling that its getting lose in the port, still no trouble, but i think it wont be same for the next 3-4 months.
Still, almost 2 years, I wont say that's bad.
I've had the Nexus 5 since it's release and the blackberry 2amp charger as well. I have 4 of them because I thought they would wear and tear like all other chargers, but it didn't. Still on my original first blackberry charger and it looks new still. It's a user problem not a phone problem.

Same promble here!!
I had same issue. Bought a wireless charger and it's now my default charging method. And it's convenient too.

Just died out last night. Spoke too soon lol. Going to place an order on this tonight the anker charger and anker cables pack. Does anyone suggest a better charger? I'm going to stick to detachable cables so I don't have to replace my whole charger every time the cables fail.

Question about chargers

I currently have an iClever IC-TC02 charger that I use to charge pretty much everything.
With some reports of melting chargers, I was wondering if it was safe to use a USB A to C cable (I was thinking CableMatters) to charge the 5x with the above charger.
Thanks

The charger doesn't really matter as it's more so the cable. CableMatters was verfied by Benson so should be fine.

Nexus 5x charger compatibility

Does anyone know if I can use my old Nexus 5x charger? I was reading on a few threads that the OG pixels did not work with the Nexus chargers and wanted to see if that held true with the pixel 2.
Thanks!

Don't know why a PD charger wouldn't work on the Pixel or Pixel 2. They may be lower wattage but might not charge as fast.

FWIW I've got a dozen miscellaneous USB-C chargers kicking around and they've all worked fine on the Pixel 2. These include what Google was selling initially with the Nexus 6P and the separate 3A chargers which were available via the Google Store at the time.
I haven't found any charger or cord around here that won't work. So far nothing has blown up. That's always nice.
Yes

Yes, the Nexus 5x charger works with my Pixel 2 and does register as rapidly charging.
Yes, I used it last night to charge my phone
I have 2 Nexus 5x chargers and neither seem to work. In both cases they show 'charging', but after several hours the battery is at the same level.
My 5X charger works great.

I have a Vinsic USB Type-C cable and wall charger that worked fine on the Nexes 5x. I tried it on the Pixel 2 and it can't seem to charge. The lighting bolt in the battery icon that usually indicates charging just flashes but it doesn't seem to be charging the Pixel 2 at all.
Does anyone with Vinsic USB Type-C cable and wall charger have this issue with the Pixel 2?
Are certain brands of Type-C cables and chargers that were compatible with Nexus 5x no longer compatible with Pixel 2?
i actually haven't taken my P2XL charger out of the box, because I only charge my P2XL on my N5X chargers.
They always register as rapid charging, fyi.

Anyone tried using a non Pixel charger on their Pixel 2 XL yet?

Tried using my old Samsung charger (that used to work on my Pixel XL)at my bedside lamp table last night and when I woke up this morning after sleeping bout 7 hours my battery level was only 60%?
Also my old car charger never seems to top it off but did with my Pixel XL.
Do I need to purchase all new chargers?
I have used several different chargers including really old adapters with usb c cables and all have worked for me
It may have more to do with the cable than the charger. I was using Volta magnetic cables with my 6p and they didn't work with the p2xl. Had to switch to regular cables. The OEM charger DOES charge much faster than my old ones but I'm assuming that's just a voltage/wattage thing.
Using one that came with the Nexus 6P. No problems.
I've used an Asus, HTC, and Aukey QC charger all with no problem.
Aukey, Samsung, and Huawei (mate9) chargers all worked with no issues.

Does it show "charging rapidly"? Thanks in advance

My old Pixel XL car and wall chargers seem to only work when plugging it in one way. I plug it in and get no charge, I turn it around an re-plugin then it works lol. Mines getting replaced anyways!
